After he died, Jamie just wasn't himself. While pursuing gangbangers, Jamie Giles' squad car veered off the road, killing him. But then something odd happened. He came back to life. Now he has a relationship problem-with a sinister presence that is inhabiting his body. Hidden deep inside his consciousness are secrets that are taking over his life and attracting the wrong kind of company. He has only a few days left to get to the bottom of it. He'll have to go deeper and deeper to figure it out. Trouble is, the only solution may for him to die again.
I’ve given Deeper and deeper 5 stars. For me a book can be one of two things or occasionally both: A riveting plot or beautifully written, with this book it’s the latter. The story starts out really well and moves with superb pace. The characters are fully formed and believable, the only reason things came a little unstuck for me was the premise; re-incarnation and regression therapy. I can never understand why former lives weren’t fork lift truck drivers or box factory workers. Gary does, in this instance, and to his credit offer a very plausible explanation for this, but as an Atheist, try as I might I struggle to be open minded on the subject. All in all 5 stars because Gary writes so well and if reincarnation is your thing; fill your boots, you will love Deeper and deeper.
Took a while to finish this, wasn't quite what I thought it was going to be. Didn't make it bad, just okay. I guess it would be labeled supernatural horror?
