"""Within a wee highland parish between a loch and the sea, ""Ian MacDonald lived a solitary but agreeable existence.""That is until he discovered a mysterious globe that transported him into the multiverse. Little did he realized that, within a world, where medieval and rococo civilizations fought for supremacy, he had awakened creatures who sought to right past transgressions; using the ink of men's blood. Some will declare allegiance with dragons, while others will sacrifice their lives for honor. For within the darkness if, but a shadow remains -- there is light. ""Show me the man who has not uncovered dragons of their own. Who is he that I might know his company?""Fernando A. Torres is also the author of the best-selling historical fiction book, ""A Habit of Resistance."""

I prefer not to review my own work, but allow me to say that knowing how precious the reader's efforts are, I have endeavored to create a story worthy of your time. I would greatly appreciate it if you would give, "The Shadow That Endures" a place in your library. Thank you, The Author.
My deepest apologies to the author, Fernando Torres, for the delay in reviewing this book. It is no reflection on the writing or the book, only on my health.
A solid 4 stars. The first book I read (twice in one sitting, I loved it so much) and reviewed written by Fernando, "A Habit of Resistance", remains one of my favorite modern books. Top 10, perhaps even top five. It's got a special place on my shelf where I see it and smile. This is one talented, imaginative author.
"The Shadow That Endures" has a slightly different humor and is set in a different world than the first book - it took me a chapter or so to get into the cadence of the story, understand the characters being introduced, and appreciate the humor. I believe for some, this will be a favorite. Not quite my genre, as his first book dovetailed into so nicely. This copy will go next to Habit. Perhaps Fernando will forgive my tardy review and treat me with a new pleasure to read and review!
The Shadow That Endures by Fernando Torres Tells the story of Ian, who one day finds a mysterious globe at an antique shop called “All That Endures- Antiques for the Discerning Collector”. Ian takes it home and he ends up opening the globe to find a white stone. Ian sat studying the stone and he was transported to another world.
While in this new world, Ian makes friends and goes on an adventure of a lifetime (joining the army, battling dragons, maybe finding someone to love).
The characters were well rounded and the story had a nice flow. The author has taken his time to build the story. He does not try to rush through anything. The author allows the story to slowly build so the reader can take everything in, which then allows the reader to connect with the characters.
Torres’s writing style is wonderful and this was very descriptive. The world building was wonderful. You definitely were able to visualize everything he wrote about. The story has a good pace and is easy to follow. It has an alternating point of view.
This story was remarkable. Any fantasy lover would be a fool not to read the book since it is such a well thought out storyline.

*I won this book through Goodreads First Reads giveaway. In no way has this influenced my rating or opinion of this book.
Fernando Torres has beautifully rendered a new world for readers in “The Shadow That Endures:” a land in which magic and myth have awakened the balance of power and the fate of peoples lies within choices of who each character truly is when it really matters. It is well worth the visit for any lovers of fantasy.
Purchased the Kindle edition and found it to be a very exciting read. Many of the locations described in the book, remind me of my European travels and being at several different castles while in England. The banter between the characters is very clever and entertaining, with the final twist at the end that made me want to read the book again. This book is a refreshing change of pace from the usual modern stories that do not challenge the reader to think. Great read and I really encourage you to get a copy.
