Love's Spark

Rate this book
Twenty-four year old Sharn Macer has spent the last six years looking for love....for that spark. She's failing miserably. After a life changing break up forces her back to her broken home, and into a string of dating disasters, Sharn decides it's time to hang up her heels and take a break from guys.

She didn’t expect to find the spark… with the quiet guy from her past.

Keefer Smith likes to keep to himself, always has and probably always will. He doesn't have time to date, not when he’s constantly worrying about what state he'll find his father in. Lucky for him, he does have one thing going for him; baseball.

He didn’t expect to want more… with the girl he once watched from afar.

Back in high school, Sharn would never have looked twice at someone like him, and Keefer would’ve never stood a chance with someone like her. But six years is a long time, and when they find themselves placed in charge of seventeen ninth graders they soon realize they might not be as different as they think. The chemistry is right, even if the timing is all wrong.

Sparks will fly, but will they spark love?

I loved this book, and while the voice was still the same, it was also a departure from Fate's Love. A more ... grown up version.

We follow Keefer and Sharn in this book. Keefer was interesting in the last book, but mostly in the background. Sharn was much more up and center, but I never imagined she'd turn out the way she did, teaching, work-minded, mending a broken home.

Keefer also surprised me - this book had more angst than the last book, more actual strife. Any hang-ups these characters had, I honestly felt was earned and deserved. Especially Keefer - his problems were very real and very drastic, yet I felt he dealt with them almost better than Sharn dealt with hers.

I liked that Sharn was a girly-girl, a contrast to Keefer's rough-and-gruff baseball persona. I liked that she liked to date and have fun and party, but could still show up to work on time and get things done. I liked that he was quiet and introverted, but still had his buds - though their frat like mentality got to be a bit much at times.

All in all, a really great read! Book one was an indication of this writer's talent. Book two marks it as a fact. Very excited for what's to come.

Sharn Macer is a 9th grade English teacher elected to be the faculty adviser for an after-school baseball program for at risk students. Keefer Smith is the baseball coach assigned to train Sharn’s students. Sharn and Keefer know each other from their own high school days, but back then they ran in different circles. Now they aren’t so different though. Their family backgrounds bear a lot of similarities, even when they don’t realize it.

Overall the story is good. I enjoyed the inclusion of the students. Sharn and Keefer make a cute couple and in the small moments where they act like a couple they have a lot of potential. Unfortunately, there are also missed opportunities for romance in place of which there is a distinct lack of communication between two professional college graduates, which made it frustrating at times. I liked both of their characters; I just really wanted to see them show some more maturity in the way they handled a potential relationship. And I really wanted more steam! ;-) There is a serious lack of hot, detailed encounters here.

So if you are looking for story over romance and don’t mind if the “bedroom” scenes are scarce, then Love Sparks is one to add to your TBR.

I HATE THIS BOOK. It makes me reminisce about my high school life. It makes me cry like a baby. I pulled an all-nighter because I couldn’t put this book down. This book is genius! I’m kidding about the hate part, I hope I didn’t give the author a mini heart attack. *wink*

The author knows how to show one’s emotions through words. The story is mature and realistic. I really loved it! Sharn and Keefer both have family issues that they badly want to escape from. They can’t seem to move on from their lives because of their broken families.

“They say being a kid’s the best time of your life
If that was true then why does it cut like a knife.”

Sharn-fcking-Macer and Keefer-hottie-Smith meet again after six years. They had no idea what the Universe has planned for them.

From high school queen bee to grade school teacher, Sharn Macer is doing everything that she can to show everyone that she is not who she used to be. The queen bee Sharn is gone but everyone tells her that they still look at her the same.

“I thought high school was tough, but life… life is something else.”

From high school geek to gorgeous baseball coach, Keefer sure knows how to grow into a man, nursing his father from the day his mother died. He relied on himself and used sports to release his anger towards his father, the world, to himself. Coaching is the only thing that keeps him sane, until he met Sharn Macer again.

“He didn’t just spark, he ignited.”

They felt the spark. They know it’s real. But the Universe seems to defy their relationship, making it impossible for them to be together.

“Sharn, when you meet someone and feel that spark, that connection, you’ll do anything to make it work. It’s rare and sometimes it’s hard work, sometimes you question if it’s even worth it, but you keep fighting for it.”

It’s making me feel different emotions at once. Especially around the time when they both gave up. I JUST WANT TO THROW MY PHONE AND CRY UNTIL I CAN’T PRODUCE TEARS ANYMORE.

“You’re in love with her, aren’t you?”
Was I?
Fck.
I was.

And that Simmy btch! I wanna claw her eyes out! Whenever I read her name I close my eyes and breathe three times to calm myself down before reading further.

Can they have the right spark at the wrong time?

“Sharn,” he whispered, brushing his lips gently over mine. “You were made for me.”
His words stole my heart – as if he didn’t already own it – then his lips stole my reply.

I NEED MORE BOOKS WRITTEN BY THIS AUTHOR. NOW. This is so amaze-balls, I want more. No, I need more!

TARA'S REVIEW

This is the second book in the Fate's Love Series, which follows the life of Sharn, Livy's BFF from Fate's Love My Review. This can be read as a standalone.

When Sharn crosses paths with the sexy Keefer whom she went to high school with, sparks will fly. Forced to work together to run an at risk program at the school Sharn teaches at, Sharn and Keefer take flirting to another level. Sharn's past keeps coming back to haunt her and everyone tries to step in their way and keep them apart.

The struggles of each of their past, and present put a huge hindrance on their relationship, and their road is extremely bumping, can these two pull it all together and make it work?

~~~~~~~~~~
When I was offered the opportunity to read this book I was super excited. I really loved the first book I read by this author and had high expectations for Sharn's story, since she played such an large roll in the first book. There were many aspects of this story that I absolutely adored. I loved how Sharn tried to hold her head up high, and kept pushing forward doing the best she could for her students. The flirting between Sharn and Keefer was adorable. Keefer comes across as an amazing guy, who while dealing with a struggle in his home life with his dad, he was able to make the most of the situations he was in. With that being said, I was expecting a lot more from the story, it fell a little flat for me.
I was hoping for some holding my breath kind of angst, which would have turned this book up for me. Overall, this is a cute story, the characters are super adorable and easy to love. The ending will put a smile on your face
Ohh, once again, L.A. Cotton has surprised me :)! Love’s Spark was even better than Fate’s Love, which was reaaaally good. So, thank you Lianne, for giving me the chance to read your work. It was so much fun. Spark’s Love is the second book of the Fate’s Love series, altough it can be read as a standalone, since it’s about two different characters, with the special appearance of characters from the previous books (which I loved).
This book tells us the story of Sharn Macer, Livvy’s (from book 1) best friend. She’s known quite a bit by almost everyone in her town, thanks to her past in highschool, which was more than colorful. She’s not that girl anymore though, and she only wishes for people to see her for who she is now. After graduating college and being dumped by her boyfriend, she comes back to town, and her parents’ house, gets a job at her old highschool as a 9th grade teacher. You could say her life is ok as long as she’s not in her house dealing with her uninterested mother. Work is good, she loves the kids and they love, and respect her deeply. She’s won their trust and respect pretty easily, except they’re not the straight A’s kind of kids. They need help to get their life back on track. That’s where Keefer comes in and with him, a whole new sight of live, and love.
Like I said before, this book was just such a nice surprise. I had an idea of how Lianne worked, since I had already read Fate’s Love, but I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did. The characters were sooo likeable, and well described, and there was such a nice development in the story. You get the once-upon-a-time popular girl, who’s dated a bunch of idiots and is now done with all of them, so now she’s doing everything in her power to redeem herself and be a better person, for herself, focusing on her studies and then on her work. Then, you get the guy who’s always been a loner, silent and reserved, and he’s still all that, except when he’s playing or teaching baseball. In that time, he’s in his zone, happy, free of his problems, free of his mind, free of everything. Through the game, he canalizes his stress and not only that but also helps boys who’ve been dealt with a hand similar to his. No kid should grow up in a house where the parents are not truly invested in their kids, no matter the reason.
Sharn Macer. I liked her so much. I loved her need to help other, her need to show her support and love to everyone who’s around her, no matter the problems they might have. She’s a reliable kind of character and I could relate to her, because even though on the outside she seemed to be keeping it all together, inside, she had the need for someone to be there for her, to support her, and even so, she still managed to be there for her family, for her friends, for her students. Yes, she’s had a few rough times where strength might have left her, but not completely. She still stood up and did what she needed to do to move on.
Keefer Smith. Coach Smith. God I loved him. He gave me butterflies and got a few smiles out of me! Yes, he’s stubborn, and reserved, but he’s also sweet, and funny, and reliable, and caring. I think I even loved him more than I loved Ethan :). Keefer’s life hasn’t been easy for a while. Since he’s been dealing with an alcoholic father, he’s taken up the responsability of keeping everything together. For himself and for his dad. He’s known since he was little that life wasn’t easy, but I think that’s what has made him so devoted and so good at helping others, specially kids. He has a wonderful need to help kids and to be there to protect Sharn and to be there to help his dad.
Besides the two main characters, there are a few others that are the perfect addition to the story. Sharn’s students play a wonderful and important part in it, and I loved the way they were involved in everything. I liked seing how much they changed and became the good kids Sharn and Keefer knew they were.
One thing I didn’t understand and like was Sharn’s mother. I didn’t like her for the obvious reasons (she’s a complete bitch), but what I didn’t understand was… where was she coming from? I found a bit odd that out of nowhere, after everything she did, she’d just a little gesture would fix everything. I felt there was something missing there. I expecteda bit more from that.
Overall, I really enjoyed it. If you’re looking for a nice and sweet story, you might want to check L.A. Cotton’s books :).
This is the second book in this series. This book is about how Sharn Macer and Keefer Smith find each other and fall in love. They went to high school together but never hung out together and only just barely knew each other. Sharn was very popular in high school and had a reputation and it wasn’t the best. Keefer had a few close friends and never really talked. Now 4 years after graduation they meet again. Sharn is an English teacher and Keefer is a baseball coach. Some of the 9th graders have been getting in trouble and the school decided to a sort of baseball camp with them to try and help with the problem. Keefer will be there coach. Sharn has been hurt in the past and isn’t as brave as she comes off. She has been on a series of awful setup and has decided to take a break from dating. Keefer doesn’t really date at all. He doesn’t have the time for and has his family stuff to deal with. He doesn’t think that any girl would want to be a part of the things he has to deal with. The first time Keefer sees Sharn again he knows he is in trouble. Sharn can’t believe how good Keefer looks and finds herself attracted to him. She has some family stuff going on as well. Keefer finds himself feeling things for Sharn he has never felt before. He punches some guy at a local bar just because of what he is saying about Sharn. He takes her out for a drink and finds himself kissing her. He doesn’t know what is going on just that he feels something for her and thinks she feels something for him. He asks her on a date and just when things are starting to take off for them his family obligations get in the way. Keefer breaks things off because he thinks it would be better for them both. Then realizes how wrong he is and that he needs to get Sharn back. Will he be able to win Sharn back? Will Sharn understand why he did what he did?
I loved this book just as much as the first. The books are filled with what ifs and maybes. Sharn comes off as this incredibly strong girl but she really isn’t that way. She has an awful relationship with her mother that caused her to act out in high school. It gave her a reputation that follows her till this day. She is so worried about being hurt again. It doesn’t stop her from putting her heart out there but it does make her careful. Keefer’s mom died when he was young and his father became a drunk a way of coping. He takes care of his father. Never knowing if one day when he comes over to check on him if he will be okay or find him in a pile of vomit. He doesn’t date because of this. Who would willingly want to get involved with someone who deals with this every day? This is why is weary of starting anything with Sharn but he just feels so strongly for her. They have a great connection they just need to find a way to work out their personal and family stuff to make it work. I can’t wait to read more books in this series and learn more about the other characters.
The story of Sharn and Keefer and finding love when they least expected it.
School teacher Sharn Macer has been spending years dating, looking for that spark…but failed time after time. No matter how much she dates or how much her friend sets her up, she never found that spark she’s been looking for. So she decided to take a break from dating, then walks in Keefer Smith. Keefer is around to coach 17 troubled 9th graders that Sharn teaches. The they meet sparks flew and chemistry undeniable. Both attracted to each other, but the timing was all wrong. While Sharn was trying to get a hold of her life, she was also ready and hoping to find someone to love. As for Keefer? He wanted nothing more than to get to know Sharn, but with his family issues in the way he didn’t know what to do.
 photo photo-2.jpg
Stuck together for 13 weeks to work with the kids for the baseball program, they had nothing but time to get to know each other. Will sparks fly or will hearts break? Read and find out.
This book started out a little slow at first, but when Sharn and Keefer finally started to show real interest with each other, I could not put the book down. I finish this book in one sitting and I really enjoyed the innocent love. Yes there was some sex in the book, but it was sweet and innocent and I loved it. There were also times when I wanted to knock some sense into Keefer’s head, for being so unsure of himself. But I loved Sharn, she knew she wanted Keefer right from the beginning, yes she had her own issues to work on…but when it came to Keefer she was sure she wanted him.
Love's Spark is the story of Keefer and Sharn. We met both these characters in the first book. In high school, Keefer was always the quiet guy who didn't draw much attention to himself. Sharn was the popular girl who went out with different boys every week.
Fast forward six years and Keefer is a baseball coach at his old high school where Sharn is also a teacher. Keefer didn't expect to find a connection to a woman such as the one he begins to have with Sharn. And Sharn would have never thought she would be falling for someone like Keefer. I enjoyed the journey we as the reader are taken on as we watch Keefer and Sharn navigate their way through life and try to find happiness with each other.
L.A. Cotton definitely knows how to write an angst filled book! Both books in this series will have you sniffling and your heart strings pulled.
Received a free copy for my honest review for Fallen for Books
This is the second book in this series. But can be read as a standalone.
In this book we get more details about Sharn's life. And boy has she changed. She's all grown up and facing real life issues instead of just normal high school drama.
Just like the first book there are so many details that suck you in to the story. Really good story line that you can't help but root for Sharn and Keefer.
5 Amazing Stars
I was given this book for my honest review
Bumper Cars as we were growing up were all the rave from the waiting on line till we got in our favorite car to drive. We would spend minutes upon minutes talking to our friends about what we were going to do and to watch out cause they were gonna get rammed. As we took our seats buckled up as the ride starts we drive to ram our friends just to have that jolt of fun. Laughing, driving and hitting our friends became an amazing feat. Memories
Sharn-sweet, pretty and spunky
Keefer-hunky, baseball coach
Sharn is a woman with a past that haunts her at every turn. She is trying to get rid of the typical stereotype that she once had back in high school when everyone said anything just to make themselves look popular. As a grown woman and high school teacher back in her old high school she finds solace but also finds a lightning in the touch of one.
Keefer is a man that can have any woman that he wants. He is smart, sexy and sweet he also is a baseball coach. Keefer is very protective of the ones that he holds dear to his heart. Having a relationship is not in the cards for this man because of the family bonds. What happens when he is asked to go back to his old high school and coach a team of so called misfits? Will Keefer find the woman that lightening strikes him? Will he pursue said woman and will this woman light a spark within him that has been dormant for so long?
Keefer and Sharm’s journey is fun, laughable and scream worthy at times. This journey that they embark on is complicated because of demons both have in their past that seem to dictate their journey together. Overcoming such demons is something that they both will have to conquer before becoming one. Each is afraid that the other will not completely understand what the other is going through but deep in both of their hearts they know that being together is the only option. Taking the long way around is not always the right way but this couple comes to see that no matter what they are and what they become they are each others forever.
To the author: You have amazed me, baffled me and calmed me. The topic that you embarked on is so rare and yet compelling that this read had me from page 1 and held its grip to the very last page. Your readers will be in Awe for the fascination that you have provided and an outcome that many will not see coming by far. Kudos
To the readers: Sit back, get in your favorite chair with your favorite snacks and enjoy
Happy Reading
Ever since Sharn's character was introduced in Fate's Love, I couldn't wait to know more about her. So, when I heard she was getting her own story, I was so pumped!
For the past 6 years, Sharn has been looking for love and failing miserably. When she experiences a life changing break up, she has no choice but to move back home. It's time for her to start making some changes.....
Keefer has always kept to himself and doesn't have time to date. The only thing he really has going for him is baseball. And that was just fine until he gets an opportunity to coach at a high school. This opportunity will bring him face to face with someone who would have never looked at him twice. But, that was in high school.....Will Sharn and Keefer finally get that chance at love??
I absolutely adored Love's Spark. I thought the story was well written and found the characters very easy to connect with. If you know me, then you know I have a soft spot for damaged or complicated characters, so Keefer and Sharn were spot on. I loved seeing all the positive changes that Sharn made in her life. There was so much more to her than meets the eye and it was nice to see her prove others wrong. And Keefer...Poor Keefer. He had so much going on in his life that he took forever to get his act together and almost missed his opportunity with Sharn.
"He was never going to be the roses and chocolate type, but when he said something, you knew one hundred percent that he meant it"
The journey to HEA was not an easy one for Sharn and Keefer, but the end result was so worth it.
Love's Spark was a quick and enjoyable read for me. It is a beautiful story of finding love in an unexpected place. Love's Spark gave me everything that I was looking for. I loved the angst, the romance and the whole will they/won't they. And the swoon! OMG, did I swoon!!
"She watched me and I swear her eyes looked into my damn soul. And I felt it. Felt the invisible ties binding us together. This was it. The moment. The Spark. When you know-unequivocally-that someone loves you. That they are meant for you"
And the ending! L.A. Cotton gave us such an amazing ending and I was left with the biggest smile on my face!
Have you heard of L A Cotton's new book LOVE'S SPARK?? This is the second book in her series- it follows LOVE'S FATE. I was given an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest opinion. This is mousieys very honest opinion of her book. Ms Cotton has you from the very first page of the book with her characters and scenes. The story has such emotion to -you do want to put it down till you have finished it. The characters in the book are defined and described with such definition. That you can see an actual school baseball coach running around ( and i mean one looking hot guy) and the team of players .
Grab a seat and here's your nibble of the amazing book.
Our story starts out at the home of Sharn Macer, where at the time her father is busy looking for important papers on his desk. Later on he tells his wife to get out go to her lover . He is no longer has any money and they will have to do away with somethings. She can not believe this and will not stand for it. Tells him that she hasn't loved him in a long time.
As for Char she is a schoolteacher and her principle has ordered her to help a baseball coach with an after school program once a week. The boys will be ninth graders out of her class She is not happy about it - but does what she is told. The coach she finds out is one hottie to look at. Kade- and he take the boys through the basic steps before anything else, as they have to prove themselves to him.
Over the months the scene with her parents get even more out of control. As she gets closer to Kade. This story has at a lot of emotion in it. You can feel everything the characters are going through. I haven't told you everything. So many twists and it is a edge of the seat. Once you start reading you find your self not wanting to stop until you finish the book. I recommend this book to all reader especially those that love a good romance. Mousieys rating of Ms Cotton's book is a firm 30 out of 5 stars. It contains everything that you are looking for in a book. IT IS A HOME RUN !!! NOW RUN AND GET YOUR COPY TODAY !!!
I’d read and enjoyed the first book in this series, so jumped at the chance to receive an ARC of Love’s Spark.
although it is the second in a series, it is fully capable of standing alone on it’s own merit. While the characters link to the first book, and some of the story crosses over a bit, this is an entirely new story.
We first meet Sharn at high school, where she is that girl. The one that falls for the bad boys, over and over allowing herself to get hurt. I just assumed she was just a bit of a goer.
It isn’t until Love’s Spark that we realise why she is the way she is. Her relationship with her mother is strained while her dad is trying to keep things together. Working as the English teacher at her old High School isn’t somewhere she expected to find herself, but she loves it. She has the respect of the other staff and the kids she teaches.
When I read Fate’s Love, I wasn’t overly keen on Sharn as a character. She came across as quite self centred and that she thought more of herself than she should, but Love’s Spark really changed my opinion of her.
Bringing Keefer into the mix really brings Sharn’s personality out. Because he is so different from her, yet she’s still drawn to him, she adapts how she reacts to situations and people. It’s not a sudden thing, but gradual, which I think is a big sign of her maturing.
Cotton can certainly weave a tale that leaves you wanting more, yet answers all questions. I will certainly be reading more from this author.
I was provided with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The story revolves around Sharn, who's decided that she can't rely on her sense of judgment on choosing guys anymore, thanks to a rough breakup, and a few even rougher dates, and Keefer, the silent, solemn and unassuming boy she had known back in high school. Keefer has a lot of woes and worries to support on his shoulders and finds solace in his baseball games. Keefer could have never ever imagined that the much sought-after Sharn from high school would even glance at him, leave alone date him. When fate throws Sharn and Keefer together, they decide to date and find that they can't douse that Cupid spark that sets their lives aflame. With both of them having to handle other struggles in life, their meeting happens at a not so opportune moment, but do they still manage to keep the spark alive is what the book takes us through.
This was a smooth, nice and easy casual romance read. I loved the way the narrative flowed - even the conversations and repartees between Sharn and Keef smouldered with the underlying sparks of attraction. Keef's characterisation was well etched, I felt - the inner conflicts and turmoils he is battling with, when he is unable to resist getting drawn to Sharn, and also is unable to forget his duties and responsibilities, are well depicted. The pace could have been a tad more brisk, I felt. But the story was enjoyable all the same.
I definitely recommend this to lovers of romance.
My rating for this book: 4 stars
******I was kindly given this Arc copy in return for an honest review ******
Even though this is a stand alone book there is a cross over with the character from Fate's Love .
We first meet Sharn Macer in Fate's Love where we know her for being Livy's best friend . This book is telling Sharn's story .
Sharn Macer was the rebel girl in high school always on the look out for the next hot guy , which gained her a reputation. Now all grown up and become a 9th grade teacher her reputation still follows her and it can't seem to disappear . While working at GHS she somehow has managed to get the job of over seeing the after school baseball programme for some of her troubled 9th Graders . Here she meets Keefer again , a shy quiet guy she remembers from high school who also happens to be friends with Ethan .
Sparks fly between them but with family problems on both sides are they willing to give into the passion they both feel? Or are they both too scared of their own emotions ? Only time will tell .
Another book by Lianne that has again left me crying snot bubbles, unattractive I know but it's got to be said only someone with a true talent for words can leave me emotionally drained .
As far as I'm concerned this is a must read for anyone . Can't wait to read more by Lianne . She is definitely an author I'll be keeping my ear to the ground for !
Well done Lianne , another fantastic read . Keep them coming , you've got me well and truly hooked !
I was given this book as a gift from the author. I loved the synopsis for this book before I even read it. The book was so much better than that. I fell in love with all the characters and before I knew it, I was hooked.
Sharn was a very popular girl in high school but after graduating and dating countless douches, she is going to remain focused on her job as a high school teacher and give up dating. She has such a connection with her kids that the principal asks her to help with the baseball team. She knows nothing about baseball but after seeing the new coach, something changes. She finally realizes who is it, Keefer Smith, the quiet shy boy who never talked in school. Boy did he grow up! They soon realize there’s connection or spark as she calls it between them after a heater kiss. Things aren’t perfect for them, they both have secrets. Keefer is dealing with his alcoholic father and she is dealing with an ungrateful mother plus her family falling apart. They soon push each other away but they can’t deny their feelings. Soon Keefer, with the help of the boys of the baseball team/her class spell out in the cutest way possible what he wants. This book has many issues that I know many of us have faced in life. The kids along with the two of them, battle on and realize what they are worth in their lives. This book was so so good!!!!! Can’t wait for the second book, its sounds so good as well
Twenty-four year old Sharn Macer has spent the last six years looking for love....for that spark. She's failing miserably. After a life changing break up forces her back to her broken home, and into a string of dating disasters, Sharn decides it's time to hang up her heels and take a break from guys.
She didn’t expect to find the spark… with the quiet guy from her past.
Keefer Smith likes to keep to himself, always has and probably always will. He doesn't have time to date, not when he’s constantly worrying about what state he'll find his father in. Lucky for him, he does have one thing going for him; baseball.
He didn’t expect to want more… with the girl he once watched from afar.
Back in high school, Sharn would never have looked twice at someone like him, and Keefer would’ve never stood a chance with someone like her. But six years is a long time, and when they find themselves placed in charge of seventeen ninth graders they soon realize they might not be as different as they think. The chemistry is right, even if the timing is all wrong.
Sparks will fly, but will they spark love?
Wow! This book was awesome. It book 2 of fates Love series by L.A. Cotton. It is the story of Sharn and Keefer. It was great book? I loved how Sharn and Keefer gets their HEA. Could not put it down. Can't wait to see what happens in Love Collides. I love all the books that LA Cotton has written.
This is the second book written by LA Cotton, and once again it was a pleasure to read. This book covers some characters previously met in Fates Love, but it can be read as a standalone. It kept my attention from the start and I couldn’t put it down, I wasn’t sure it could beat Fates Love, but hey we can all be wrong. The characters are well thought out and you end up falling in love with them, well I did anyway. Definitely worth reading.
Sharn Macer, once a rebel in high school, gained herself quite the reputation. Now she’s matured, been off to college and has returned as a teacher at her former school after her relationship broke down.
Somehow Sharn gets the job of overseeing the after school baseball programme for the trouble makers in her classes, little does she know that more than balls will be flying.
Enter Keefer, a quiet man who Sharn remembers from school, he was the total opposite to Sharn in school. Never really spoke to anyone, but everyone knew him.
Right from the first meeting, you can feel the heat between these two, the sparks are amazing, and it really doesn’t matter how much they both try to fight it they are drawn together.
Both have their pasts which they both are reluctant to share, Keefer and his alcoholic dad, and Sharn and her falling apart family. The timing for these two seems so wrong, but the sparks will not go out.
I absolutely loved Sharn and Keefer's story!!!!
Sharn, is no longer the girl she was when she was in High School. She is now teaching at the old school and is actually very liked and respected among the staff and students. So much that she is given a project to help troubled students. Little did our girl know that the project she has been give would introduce her to the one that would give her the spark!
Keefer, is the quiet guy. He has a lot on his shoulders and is just trying to live his life and do what he loves. He was given the coaching job at his old high school. He was to help coach a group of kids that were troubled. Introduce them to something productive. Little did he know that while doing this job he would find the one that gave him the spark, that made him smile and made him feel.
The journey isn't easy. These two have troubled pasts and have strained relationships at home. Relationships that have them making mistakes that can cost them big time. The journey of true love isn't an easy one. It is one of pain but also one of hope.
Will Sharn and Keefer let each other feel the spark? Will they loose hope? Will they find the path to peace and happiness?
L.A. Cotton gives us a beautiful story. This is book two in a series and will not disappoint. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. A for sure 1-click author.
Love's Spark is book 2 in the Fate's Love series. It can be read as a standalone and you don't have to read book one, Fate's Love, first. The first book is Livy and Ethan's story. Sharn is Livy's best friend so Keefer and Sharn are in the first book but we don't get their story until Love's Spark. Love's Spark is Sharn and Keefer's story.
Sharn is a free spirited party girl. She returns to her hometown to teach high school. She ends up also overseeing an after school basketball program. That's where Keefer comes in. He's coaching job at his old high school. I loved Keefer's name. I don't think I have seen it pop up in a book before. For his name alone I might put him on my book boyfriend list. He doesn't only have a cool name but he's hot too.
Keefer is also shy. He has some secrets but so doesn't Sharn. They have both had troubles past and issues at home but maybe that's what makes them great for each other.
I really enjoyed reading Keefer and Sharn's story and I think you will enjoy it too.
Another fantastic book from L.A Cotton. Love's Spark is book #2 in the Fate's Love series and while you don't have to read them in order, you do see a bit of the characters from this book in book #1.
I absolutely loved book #1 and couldn't wait to jump into this one, while we get a story from a different set of characters we still have the characters from book #1 in the background.
Sharn Macer has always been the independent girl looking for that Love's Spark with someone. She has dated some right idiots and thinks it's time to have a break from men.
But then she meets Keefer again. He was the quiet one, the one that kept to himself. They are opposites, but opposites attract!
Sharn is a fun female character, she is one of those characters that you think, "if she was real, we would be best friends". She's fun and quirky.
Keefer is a hot male character. He is the quiet, brooding type, and that makes him even more appealing.
I was hooked from start to finish and I can't wait to see what else this author has to offer.
How do you overcome the image people have of you from High School, even if you are not that person any more?
And how do you put yourself out there and risk your heart, when to lose would leave you with nothing?
Those are just two of the issues facing Sharn and Keefer.
Regular readers will be unsurprised to learn that I didn't read book 1 in this series. However, that didn't impact upon my enjoyment of this book at all. I never felt lost or that I had missed some massive pointer from the previous book.
As for the story itself, it was at points touching, frustrating, emotional and sad. Not, I hasten to add, all at the same time!
The tentative relationship which develops between Sharn and Keefer is written with care. But the author cleverly builds the exasperation with the characters dancing around and denying their feelings.
Overall, this is a book which will capture your attention. A lovely read.
Book 2 - But Definitely a Stand Alone.
I was hesitant to start this book because it had been a while since I read the first one.
I shouldn't have worried and even though this book mentions the previous characters, it doesn't impact on book 2.
I enjoyed this sweet romantic story between Sharn and Keefer who knew each other at school, but weren't friends,
or even friendly. They meet up again a few years later when Sharn is now a high school teacher herself and Keefer is a coach
who comes to the school to teach Baseball. Life then throws them both a curve ball, and they have to work out their individual messes
to be able to move forward with each other.
At times the angst between the two got a little tiresome, but I was with them for the whole ride. I wanted to know the ending and
for them to get their HEA.
Not gonna lie here, I love me some baseball players! It's something to do with their patience or maybe its the pants, I'll never really know. I really loved this book. Keefer is a man after my own heart! I don't think there was any way I was not going to love this man. This story is such a good one. It went by super fast for me. I easily read it in one setting. I liked Sharn and her personality. She was a good balance for Keefer but at times I felt the difference was too much or maybe just pointed out too often in ways. I'm not sure how to word it but, I felt the relationship was off at times when it should not have been. Other than that, this is a perfect read. I fell in love with Keefer right away and his strength to over come his troubles. A very good read and one I will most likely pick up again.
Sharn is one of my favorite characters from book one. Even though it was told in Olivia's POV I still felt her pain that she endured in high school. Keefer was a mystery in book one, he was quiet and kept to himself. So going into this book I wasn't sure but Keefer is sweet and honorable. I loved his shy quiet behavior even if it made seem guarded or awkward, because that was him and it made him more real.
Their story is cute, I loved how the students worked into their relationship as well. Their pasts put a lot of road blocks in their way but they eventual find their way. Don't expect any nail biting angst it's not one of those stories,it's more of a love story about two people trying to make it through life better than their pasts.
I really enjoyed this series so far and love the writing. I still stand firm that this series is for all fan's of feel good romance books.
Sharn Macer and Keefer Smith were worlds apart in high school, he was the quiet shy guy and she the popular, slutty girl.
Now their all grown up and both have changed.
Meeting up by chance for an after school program they reconnect and get to know each other as adults.
Their relationship progresses to what could be something real when their family lives come into play and pull them apart.
Love's Spark is a sweet story, though at times I thought Sharn's behavior was still a bit petty and childish, she came through in the end and acted like an adult. Keefer meanwhile was attentive, sweet and the perfect gentleman, his only downfall was trying to hide his family issues for so long.
The story is told from both POV's and is well written.
Sharn is 24 and has given up on finding the one who gives her that spark. By a twist of fate she ends up working with Keefer. She hasn't been around him since high school. But there is definitely something there.
She is fun and outgoing and he is serious and keeps to himself.
The romance was great. I loved Sharn, she is funny and a great leading lady. Keefer is Hot brooding guy. They have great physical chemistry.
The thing that I didn't like was that it only seemed physical for awhile. I wanted more of an actual dialogue between them.
This is another book in her Fates Love Series. It can be read as a stand alone which is great.
Definitely a good read if you love romance!
