With her colleagues Simon Kennedy away and Jo Lockwood on light duties, Erin Taylor was finding her job as the ranger for the National Parks quite tiring. In fact, by the end of each day Erin was feeling worn out.

When Simon Kennedy returned to work after being away for last two months, Erin couldn't have been more happier. But her happiness would soon turn to sadness and disbelief when Simon returns to his cottage to discover his wife Hayley there. Simon had not seen Hayley for many years, but finding her dead in his home was the last thing he was expecting to see. Erin she was also in disbelief, but not just by seeing Hayley's body, but because she never knew Hayley existed.

As the investigation into Hayley's death begins, Simon soon discovers Hayley was living a life he had no idea about. It seemed Hayley was in with a recluse group who apparently lived a peaceful life, but could the people in this group have something do with Hayley's death? Could there be more danger just around the corner?

Storm Clouds was a fantastic read full of mystery, suspense, twists and turns with a little romance thrown in as well. Highly recommended.

Erin Taylor was exhausted – her job as ranger for the National Parks had been extra busy the last few months; with colleague Simon Kennedy called away unexpectedly two months ago, and another colleague and friend Jo Lockwood still on light duties, it all seemed to fall on her shoulders to get the job done. And now, to top it off she had a flat tyre out in the middle of nowhere, on her own, with no phone service.

As Erin finally made her way back to headquarters she was stunned to see Simon up ahead; she was delighted with his unexpected arrival – but the shock they both received when Simon opened the door of the cottage that had been closed for the last two months was intense. And the fact that Simon knew who the victim lying on the floor of his bedroom was – someone that Erin hadn’t even known existed, meant immediate mistrust; did she even know Simon at all?

As the police began their investigation, secrets about the victim’s past came to the surface – did the group who were living on the fringes of the National Park have anything to do with what was happening? Their alternative lifestyle; their talk of “bliss” and “serenity” was ringing alarm bells in Erin and Simon – but the sudden emergence of a dangerous, deviously charming and fanatical person meant their race against time was accelerating alarmingly. Could they prevent the tragedy that was looming? Would Erin be safe?

Another brilliant suspense novel by Aussie author Bronwyn Parry. Storm Clouds is filled with mystery and intrigue and the twists kept me reading late into the night. Light romance mixed with suspense and murder with a wonderful plot; a great mix that left me satisfied and looking forward to reading more about the National Parks team! (It was great to catch up with the characters from Dead Heat once again.)

I have no hesitation in highly recommending every novel by this author; Bronwyn Parry is definitely at the top of her game!

Although I rarely read straight ‘romance’ I enjoy the romantic suspense genre. In fact some of my favourite authors are those who get the balance right – Suzanne Brockmann, Sandra Brown and Karen Rose (to name just a few). Which is a long-winded way of saying that I’m excited to have belatedly discovered Parry as she really nails that balance in Storm Clouds.

When we meet National Parks ranger Erin Taylor she’s exhausted. In the absence of one injured but recovering colleague and another (also an army reservist) who’s mysteriously disappeared, Erin’s been carrying the load of her team.

So when Simon Kennedy returns from his secretive stint with the army reserve, Erin’s happy and not just because it will lighten her workload. Apparently they’ve been skirting around some sexual tension so Erin’s hoping romance will blossom between the two and doesn’t quite understand why Simon’s held back to date.

She soon discovers that reason however as Simon returns to find his estranged wife’s body in his house. Simon’s never mentioned a wife and quickly becomes the key suspect.

Parry offers us a broad cast of characters and minor characters in one book may feature in her next. Indeed, this book follows on from her 2012 novel Dead Heat which centred around a local police officer and Erin’s recently-injured colleague. It’s a great approach as it builds a backstory and hooks in we readers.

With Simon Kennedy away and Jo Lockwood, her other colleague at Goodabri National Park, on restricted duties, Erin Taylor is finding her job tiring. She is worn out and looking forward to relief. When Simon returns, Erin finds he has been away in the army reserve on a mission he can’t talk about. But a deeper secret than that is revealed when a body is found in Simon’s house and the body turns out to be that of Simon’s wife, Hayley. Erin had no idea Simon was married. Since she has feelings for him, she is hurt and confused to know he has kept this wife a secret. Why? And who killed Hayley?
Simon becomes the police’s prime suspect. But as investigations continue and another woman dies, attention turns to a reclusive commune called Simple Bliss. This story is one of murder and suspense as Erin, Simon and the police seek to uncover the truth.
I had not read the first book Dead Heat but it did not matter a bit as this book hooked me from the start and maintained my interest throughout. Erin and Simon are likeable, well rounded characters that quickly gain the reader’s support. The Australian setting is also well portrayed. I found this to be a book that got me in and kept me reading every chance I got, reading yesterday when I really should have been doing other things. That is always the sign of a really good book. I thought the ending got a little bizarre but it was certainly dramatic and kept me reading to the end.

A rural romance with some murder and intrigue thrown in, I thoroughly enjoyed the story of capable Erin and her hot park ranger and ex-commando Simon. A bush setting, a cast of likeable characters and more drama than you can poke a stick at elevates this book above the usual fare in this genre. Will be looking for more from Bronwyn Parry.

At the end of every year, around Christmas day to be precise, there are two Australian Authors that I start to scour the shelves for. The first is Bronwyn Parry, the second Loretta Hill. This year, it took me longer to find Bronwyn Parry's new release Storm Clouds and thus I couldn't start the book on Christmas Eve like I had with the previous release, instead I tracked the book down (I may have purchased the very first copy from the box we received in at work) and made it my first book of 2015. Let's just say that it set the bar pretty damn high for the rest of the year.

With the Goodabri National Park Rangers battered and still bruised from the events of Dead Heat, Park Ranger Erin Taylor finds herself drowning under the weight of a three person workload. So when her work colleague Simon returns home suddenly Erin is not only relieved to off load some of the Parks workload, but ecstatic to see her friend... and if that friend just happens to ignite a fire in her she hasn't felt with anyone else for a long time, that's okay by Erin too. But her happiness and joy is short lived, when moments after retuning, and Erin's enthusiastic welcome home, Simon's wife Hayley is found murdered. In Simon's house. If that wasn't bad enough, no one in town knew Simon was married. Ever. With Simon now the key suspect in a murder case, and Erin's world turned upside down by the shocking revelation, Erin needs to work out who she can trust and what she believes fast ... for the only thing Erin can be sure of now, is that there is a murderer amongst their mist ... and he may or may not just have his eye on her next.

I've once heard the author say that her style of writing (and the type of stories she tells) often means her characters are forced to drink an unusually large amount of coffee and not much else as they are pushed and pulled, prodded and bewildered by the bag guys and the remote environment around them. Storm Clouds is no exception. Erin and Simon are pushed through so much both mentally, emotionally and physically in this book that as a reader you have everything crossed for them to come out the other side reasonably unscathed as possible, especially when it comes to their relationship. I know I for one, was clenching my book tighter in parts and yelling at the pages at other times when particular events pushed them apart or caused them to separate for this or that reason. I was so desperate to know what happened that I read the book in practically one sitting.

While it's true Storm Clouds is loosely linked to Bronwyn Parry's 2012 release Dead Heat, it is not altogether necessary to have read Dead Heat in order to appreciate or understand the going ons in Storm Clouds. In fact apart from the use of the same Northern NSW town of Goodabri and a couple of character cameos, the book can be seen (and thus read) as a stand alone. There are characters that appear in both Dead Heat and Storm Clouds, and some of the events of Dead Heat (in particular Jo Lockwood and Nick Matheson's story) is referenced and plays minor havoc with the chaos that enters Erin and Simon's lives, but this is mostly due to National Park Ranger understaffed personal problems (Jo was Erin's work mate and she is still recovering from the incidents of her book; Erin and Simon are first introduced to us in Dead Heat) and some of the police procedures (where some figures are still dealing with previous books crimes and legalities).

Mystery. Check. Intrigue. Check. Remote Locations. Check. Heroic leads with off the chart chemistry. Double Check. A well written and believable plot. Double Check. What more could a book addict ask for?

Storm Clouds by Bronwyn Parry not only hits all the right boxes for me, it blew them all out of the water, cementing this book (and Bronwyn Parry) on my definite MUST READ list of 2015. Trust me, you won't want to miss out on this one.

Storm Clouds is an exceptionally well written and superbly paced romantic suspense narrative that is sure to leave you on the edge of your seat and frantically trying to solve the big mystery of the book before it's big reveal on the page - and what a big reveal it is. I really loved this book and highly recommend it other romantic suspense fans, or anyone who loves a good romance story with a bit more weight and perhaps mettle to it.

This is classified as a Romantic Suspense and I have to say I enjoyed the suspense more than the romance. I think It could have done without the romance myself.

I enjoyed the National Park setting and the subject of cults as this made it more interesting and exciting. I liked the characters as they all had differing personalities which worked well in this story. Erin, being the main character is a strong woman and character and this made the story more readable too.

A good amount of suspense but a bit slow in parts. The atmosphere and setting was great and the story overall was a good story. I would give this a 3 1/2 stars.

Romantic Suspense and I do not get on so my viewpoint is probably somewhat skewed. I also cheerfully admit to a particularly strong allergy to anything at all that gets all "she's nothing without a man" or "women donning high heels to run through the bush to escape the bad guy". Which I'm happy to report is not the case in STORM CLOUDS. Erin Taylor's actually quite a likeable woman - even with the unrequited longing thing over Simon / love interest / suspect / estranged husband.

What I'm struck by with this book is, if you are a fan of this sort of combination Romance / Suspense storyline with the romance having as high a billing as the suspense bit, then why oh why do these local writers not get a bigger readership / fan base?

STORM CLOUDS is as good an example of Romantic Suspense as you'd come across surely. The characters are comfortably Australian (without a cork hat or a cliché in sight), and the plotting is solid. The storyline would work equally as well for those of who live in the bush (aware of the unsurprising shortage of sinister types lurking around every corner), as it would for city dwellers who either find the bush an exotic foreign place, or somewhere to be avoided at all costs. The characters fit within their setting very well in STORM CLOUDS and the plot is actually quite believable.

If romantic suspense is your thing - then STORM CLOUDS should be on the reading list.

Storm Clouds book two in the Goodabri series by Bronwyn Parry. National Parks ranger Erin Taylor through her life finally has turned around with a job she loves and colleague Simon she adores. However, it did not last for long because a body of a young woman turns up. The murder victim was Simon's ex-wife Hayley, and Simon never told Erin about her. However, Erin helped Simon investigate to find answers to his wife murder and discovered details that they did not suspect. The readers of Storm Clouds will continue to follow the twist and turns in Erin and Simon investigation to see what happens.

Storm Clouds is another excellent book from Bronwyn Parry. I love Bronwyn Parry portrayal of her characters and the way they interact with each other. Storm Clouds is well written and researched by Bronwyn Parry. I like Bronwyn Parry description of her settings, and which engaged me with the plot from the beginning of Storm Clouds.

The readers of Storm Clouds will see the devastation that alternative lifestyle communities can have on people. Also, the readers of Storm Clouds will learn about the role and procedures of being a National Park ranger.

I recommend this book.

Another brilliant romantic suspense story by Bronwyn Parry. I like that it's light on the romance, and heavier on the mystery. I am enjoying this series immensely - it's always lovely to "catch up" with characters in earlier books in the series ... and I'm eagerly looking forward to the 3rd book :)

Bronwyn Parry is one of my favourite authors and this new book didn't disappoint - strange that this was the second book I've read this month centred around "cults" though!

Full of mystery and suspense (as usual) with great likeable characters :)

I really can't understand how this book got so many good reviews. Very predictable - I was quite easily able to work out the long lost sister, Joshua and the doctor were one and the same etc etc. I finished this book only to prove to myself that my predictions were right.

I thought this book was great it had plenty of spence thriller. Erin Taylor is National Park ranger Gooabari. She loves her job and she is falling for for colleague Simon Kennedy also a National park ranger and is part time in the army reserves.
Simon returns from time in the army reserves to find his wife murdered in his home. He has not seen her in over 14 years, Erin is with him when he discovers her body and she learns that Simon is married..
They call in the police Simon is seen a suspect in the murder as of his estrangement from his wife. Soon we learn that his wife Hayley was involved in cult called Simple Bliss an alternative lifestyle community. The death of second woman causes Simon, Erin and the Police to look deeper into Simple Bliss community and their leader. The group denies knowing Hayley. Simon uncovers shocking information on the group through a bag left by his wife also a book with drawings of girl growing up looking like Hayley who is now 13 years old and could be his daughter and Erin is drawn further into the group web of lies when shen learns more about their leader Joshua Kristos. Erin decides to enter the cult to learn more about Hayley daughter. This leaves Simon worried for Erin's safety and Hayley daughter as his wish that he could have been their for Hayley more.
Simon and friend Gabe help save Erin, Hayley daughter but the women and children involved in the cult from the increasely dangerous leader. Can't wait to read another one of Bronwyn Parry's books.

Erin Taylor is a National Parks ranger who loves her job and is a loyal and genuinely hard worker. She is falling for her colleague, Simon Kennedy, who has just returned from deployment overseas. Erin sees his vehicle and follows him home to see him.

When they enter the house Simon finds a deceased body and turns out it is Simon's estranged wife who has not contacted him in fourteen years. As Simon uncovers detail by detail, the trail leads to an alternative group on the edge of the National Park.

Between Simon and Erin they work to uncover the truth and happenings in the small town of Goodabri.

An excellent story which is well worth the read!

Erin Taylor and Simon Kennedy are the resident National Park rangers of the small northern NSW town of Goodabri. Simon has recently returned from a two month deployment as an army reserve officer. Together Erin and Simon find his wife murdered in his home on his return from service. Erin immediately finds it strange that up until now Simon has ever mentioned his wife Hayley. Simon has been estranged from his wife for over fourteen years and this is the first time he has set eyes on her after many years apart. Erin and Simon are not given much time to dwell on the murder, as almost immediately following the discovery of Hayley’s body, another woman is found dead in the National Park. Both women share a connection, they were both known by Simon and they were both wearing the same style of dress. It does not take long before the two women are linked to an alternative lifestyle community, nestled on the edge of the Goodabri National Park. Erin and Simon find themselves risking everything to attempt to solve the mystery of the two murders which inextricably become associated to the alternative community in their National Park, called Simple Bliss. The question is can they reveal the truth before further tragedy strikes Goodabri?
Storm Clouds is now my favourite book of Australian Author Bronwyn Parry. I have read and enjoyed two previous titles by Parry prior to reading Storm Clouds. This book is very loosely linked to Dead Heat, one of Parry’s previous novels but it can easily be enjoyed as a standalone. Storm Clouds had me totally hooked in from the very beginning and I devoured the book in one sitting. The plot took an interesting angle by looking at alternative lifestyle groups with cult leaders. I found it completely compelling, there were more than a few nail biting moments featuring one of the main protagonists Erin. The characterisation in Storm Clouds was authentic, both Erin and Simon are believable characters. They are also supported by a strong cast of secondary characters, honourable mentions go to Old Snowy, Tess and Steve. The slow building romance full of sexual tension between Erin and Simon was balanced nicely with the suspense element of the book. The location of Storm Clouds was left in the hands of Parry’s descriptive writing, which more than adequately brings to life the rugged beauty of Goodabri National Park region. I have no hesitation recommending Storm Clouds, the latest release by Bronwyn Parry. Parry is a talented Australian writer who manages to blend suspense and romance just perfectly for the reader.

When Simon Kennedy returns after 2 months away from his duties, finding his dead wife in his house sets a series of events in motion that's beyond his control, and jeopardises his growing affection for his colleague and friend, Erin Taylor. But because he has played his cards so close to his chest, the revelations about Simon's past career and marriage can only come as a shock and a betrayal to Erin. Thrown deep into an investigation involving sinister cultish practices, Erin and Simon find themselves battling demons of a past they'd rather keep buried.

Storm Clouds is a chilling but wonderful metaphor for the building tension, and although it takes a rather predictable narrative route, Brownyn Parry weaves a tight and drawn-out thriller in the Australian bush. The romance takes a back seat as always - even though Erin's and Simon's needs are more drawn out than all the other characters in Ms. Parry's novels - where the RST is almost a disappointing afterthought meant to mollify female readers after the heaps of sexual tension that runs through the pages. Ms Parry's characters however, are memorable in their own right: steady, mature...and so very committed to whatever cause that they've given themselves to.

I wasn't entirely satisfied with the ending given the cascade of events after the climax (it'd be unrealistic after all, to expect all loose strings to be tied up), but I suppose the promise of 'we'll deal with it as it comes' is as good as it gets with a Brownwyn Parry novel.
