Carrie loves Joe. Joe loves Carrie. Everybody else in their Rocky Mountain town seems to know it, but these two have been best friends for so long that speaking of changed feelings seems... impossible. They think about each other constantly and say nothing.
After a year and feeling there's no way around the impasse, Carrie decides to pack her bags and go for the time-honoured hear cure: a good walkabout. Before Joe knows it, Carrie has gone to Australia.
That wakes him up! He's got to go after her. However, as he soon learns, getting close to Carrie and catching her are not the same thing. She leads him on a merry chase across the Outback.
💔Young love can be so awkward, yet resilient!👫 March 19, 2019 Format: Kindle Edition 👫😍🌄 I thought this was a cute, quick and easy to read story with a great Australian setting. Did heroine Cassie HAVE to run off to Australia? Not really, but it puts clueless Joe's feet to the fire and makes him really work for a reconciliation.
I would say this is a Young Adult romance for a younger cohort of readers. There's no explicit intimacy. Not especially memorable, but an easy, happily resolved read for an afternoon at the beach or a cold winter day dreaming of sunnier exotic places.
One jarring note for me. Thirty year old Joe's letter to the Australian Consulate is a bit ridiculous as is his follow-up telephone interview.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
