Qaira Eltruan leads the fearsome Sanctum Enforcers, a specialized military sect designed to eradicate angel terrorists. Oldest son of the Nehelian Regent, he has large shoes to fill. But Qaira's father and his people don't know the sordid deeds it takes to keep the angels from invading.
He has blood on his hands; so much that it has stained his skin forever.
As the Regent slips into early-onset dementia, Qaira is forced to take the throne. He's never been a leader, always a soldier, and the war against the angels is getting fiercer every year. The enemy is taking apart their city, piece by piece, all the while his people rot from perpetual-war poverty and malay addiction.
The Regent's appointed council contracts an otherworldly Scholar to oversee and advise Qaira's rise to power. If Qaira can find a way to put up with her opinionated, stubborn attitude, this Scholar has knowledge, secrets, that can serve to sway the battle in their favor. But Scholar Leid Koseling has secrets of her own...

Honor, the second book in the series, fulfilled all of my wishes after reading the first novel. I am thrilled to blaze through the rest of the series!
The first book left us with many questions which "Honor" satisfyingly dives into. "Honor" takes place before the events of "Inception," allowing us to learn about the political climate preceesing "Inception."
In my opinion, the best part about this book is the satisfying look into the characters. "Honor" demands that you learn to love, or at least empathize with, the previously more mysterious cast from the first book.
Qaira, a character I previously had issues with, is fleshed out much further in this book. The reader gets to learn about Qaira's family, job and life before "Inception." We learn about his vices, virtues and overall way of thinking.
Aside from Qaira, we also get to relish the return of Leid as a shining main character- and let me tell you, she's even more badass this time around!
I'm also amazed by Terra Whiteman's mastery of pace. It has been a while since I stayed up late at night to finish a book out of pure enjoyment!
Overall, I highly recommend reading this series. I also highly recommend that you tell you friends about it so they can read it too!
The story line is a good one but the grammar mistakes ruin it. It felt sometimes like the author was not used to writing or speaking in English ; a good example is when a character says "yesterday night" instead of 'last night.' Also not knowing what form of 'to' to use amongst other things. The story is a good one and if you can look past the glaring grammar mistakes, is worth reading.
This is the book series that I am currently recommending to anyone who will listen to me. I loved the story, it was a good balance of action, science, and intrigue. The conversations the characters had seems very real and I really felt for the main character (Qaira). I stayed up late reading this one!
The beginning of the story of Qaira, the acting Regent of Sanctum, and Leid, his appointed advisor....Honor follows Q through battles with the Angels, his own council, and himself. Such an addicting book (pun possibly intended) with yet another cliffhanger that requires an immediate look at the next book. This series has been such a surprising gem!
After reading the first book in the series “The Antithesis: Renovatio”, I HAD to read the other books in the series. Whiteman continues to create vivid and engaging world that I couldn’t get enough of. In this sequel, we actually go back in time and learn how Qaira/Alexair and Leid meet. We also see some of the other characters from the first novel such as Lucifer and Yahweh. My educated guess is that the next book will be the end of the ‘flashback’ of Alexair getting his memories back. I can’t wait to read the next book and find out how it all ends!
As a caution, the book ends in another cliffhanger once again so I was quite irritated to finish the book without the next ones in the series. I’d recommend picking them all up at once to avoid that frustration!
Warning: Repeated explicit violence
Who should read it? Science fiction fans, but I’d highly recommend the starting with the first in the series.
