Listening Length 9 hours and 41 minutes

FRIENDS. RIVALS. LOVERS. Liv’s happy with life in her thirties. She has two cats, one BFF, and no boyfriend, which is just how she likes it. Plus, she loves working at a not-for-profit software company where she can be her authentically autistic self. This is her happy ever after.

But when her beloved firm merges with a repulsive rival, Liv finds herself competing with her sort-of-ex for the top job. Sure, Finn had been Liv’s best friend at university, with his nerdy good looks and their shared love of Tolkien, but there was that one night, their song, and … well, she doesn’t like to talk about it. In fact, she hasn’t thought about him since.

Unlike Finn who is delighted to have Liv back in his life. Could this finally be his chance to rescue their friendship after all these years? But he knows it’s only a matter of time until he wins the job and Liv gets laid off. He hates everything about it, but he’s a single dad with a daughter to support, so losing isn’t an option – not even to his soulmate.

But in the close proximity of a cut-throat corporate world, Finn finds himself falling first and soon his priority becomes breaking down Liv’s barriers. As the pair struggle to keep their professional and personal lives separate, Liv starts to think maybe Finn’s suggestion of a friendship reboot isn’t such a bad idea after all… And as for that funny feeling inside… no, that’s nothing. Nothing at all…

Narrated by Emily Atack (star of Rivals) & Stuart Martin (star of Miss Scarlet and The Duke), LOVE, REBOOTED is a steamy, slow burn romance that will steal the heart of your inner-nerd. Because if we want a second chance at love, sometimes we have to ask ourselves the most obvious question: Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Okay don't get me wrong, but I actually kinda liked this. I have my reasons for the lower star rating, but let me just preface this by saying this is actually a very cute romance! Some parts, unfortunately, just didn't do it for me.

The characters in this book were wonderful! I really enjoyed the autism representation and how relatable Liv was throughout the story. There wasn't *too* much character growth (I would've liked to see more) but overall she was enjoyable and I liked the dual POV between her and Finn and their thoughts as the story went on. Liv was very bubbly and straightforward; I really liked that she wasn't taking crap from anyone and I really liked that Finn was so understanding and helpful when her autism hindered things.

The side characters also played a large role in this book and I liked them to an extent, but it felt like they were just there to be there rather than add anything to the plot. They had their funny moments and I did enjoy some of them, but overall they kinda fell flat.

Now the part I had the biggest issue with: the plot.
I was soooo bored reading this story when the romance wasn't there. This is basically me saying that the romance carried the weight of this book. I found myself very uninterested and kinda zoning out when they were talking about the company merger and positions Finn and Liv were fighting for. It felt like that was ALL they talked about and I wasn't a big fan. This story didn't feel that unique, but it was fun.

The 2 and a half stars were simply for the romance and the true slow-burn aspects that this book had. I wanted to rate it higher, but it just seemed to drag on and in parts go in circles. I was just ready to have this be over since it hadn't kept my interest. I definitely think this book could be for someone else that's not me though! It was so cute and funny and fluffy, but unfortunately it just didn't do it for me like I wanted it to.

I'd also like to point out that the narration for this book was incredible! I really enjoyed the narrators of both Finn and Liv and they made the story more palatable than it probably would have been without them.

I absolutely devoured this masterpiece!

The main characters are charming and relatable - especially for those Neurospicy readers like me. I fell in love with them instantly and just kept falling throughout. The pop culture references and pure geekiness also had me completely head over heels.

The context was so spot on with misogyny in the workplace - especially in the IT space - and it brought a lovely amount of tension to keep me hooked from beginning to end.

The steamy scenes sure did steam and were absolutely top notch - and also again relatable!!!

Not to mention the narration was so unbelievably perfect that I could listen to these two read the phone book.

I was charmed, I laughed, I geeked out, I cried, I wanted to punch various characters and I saw myself reflected so clearly in Liv in a way I’ve never felt before.

This book has my heart! All of it! Completely.

I mean… I guess I tolerated it 😂

Friends to lovers. Duel POV’s. Sweet golden retriever energy MMC & tech savvy curvy brainy FMC. I really found myself rooting for them. Life complications, miss communication, hidden feelings, all the hallmark movie feels.

Babes, this one is a must read for the nerdy girls who are fans of second chance romance and Tolkien. Audible originals can be hit or miss as to the quality of writing, but this was definitely a hit. Liv and Finn were adorable.

Boring and the pacing was all off. One minute she's like hurt by his rejection from years ago and next they're getting it on.

I did not care for this book one bit. The main character is a bigger girl (which I love) who makes some comments about smaller girls, and then says “I’m not being mean, I’m just stating a fact.” If it was reversed, and it was a skinny girl talking about the body of fat girls, there would be outcry for “fat shaming” and “body shaming.” I don’t think people’s bodies should be discussed at all. I found it unnecessary and duplicitous.
Aside from that, I feel like this author was on a mission to normalize the “woke” agenda. That’s the authors word, not mine. This book very heavily discusses topics like always asking a person’s pronouns when making introductions, calling people by their chosen (not given) name, gender, and pronoun. The main romance is heterosexual, but there are some LGBTQ characters and relationships. It also deals heavily with sexism and discrimination in the workplace.
In addition to all of the above, this audiobook is also riddled with strong profanity and sex.
If I could give it zero stars I would.
I will be avoiding this author in the future.

I feel like this book just hasn’t reached it’s target audience because, apparently unlike many of the other reviewers, I like my books smutty and my ‘agenda woke’, so I had a fantastic time😌

If you have an issue with a book discussing the gender pay gap or talking about workplace discrimination of minorities then go read something else. You won’t have a good time.

But me??? Imma be there and listen to some Motown.

I really liked the neurodiversity representation in this book! I feel like it is exactly how representation is supposed to be. Not a plot point that is there for the sake of it, but a fully fleshed out part of the character that helps give them dimension.
I also think that sometimes it is hard to make decisions and emotions of neurodivergent characters relatable to neurotypical people, since they might not understand but the narrative style made it easy to follow Livs inner workings.

UNTILL, and this is my biggest pet peeve with this book, MY MAN FINNLEY FORGOT HOW INTEGRITY WORKS AND BECAME A SAD SPLOTCH OF WET YOGURT.

Á la poubelle and not even the recycling. Too much toxic waste.🚮

He completely lost my respect. Full point of no return.
If your response to a super discriminatory email is ‘ I’ll handle that person’ then you can’t recover in my eyes.

Live was way to forgiving, I would have hidden raw fish in his curtain rod and signed him up to all newsletters I can find. But good for her I guess?

Overall I had a really good time! Would read again ✨

To say I was obsessed with this audiobook would be an understatement. What a fantastic debut for Summers, cannot wait for more from them!

The characters were perfection. The plot and pacing were great. LOTR super fan nerds? Hell yes. Four cats named Frodo, Samwise, Merry and Pippin? YES.

The FMC is autistic, curvy and happy enough with her life, except for the fact that she never really got over her best friend and person from university.

The MMC is a single dad of an autistic teenage girl. He loves his daughter more than anything and has put himself last for her. He never got over the FMC though. Never.

Suddenly their lives collide again, a company merger that has them in head to head for the same position. It isn’t long before their feelings from the past come careening back into the fold and from there…there is only one true and right outcome.

I loved listening to every minute of this audiobook, it was funny, witty, refreshing and just wonderful to experience. I loved the characters both MC and SC so much, the emotions and experiences Summers was able to convey through her characters was just e delight to experience.

I recently listened to "Love Rebooted" by Katy Summers, and I have to say, it was just okay for me—I'd give it about 2.5 stars. The premise was intriguing, about diving back into relationships with a fresh perspective. I thought there could be some really great moments, but it didn’t quite hit the mark.

The characters felt a bit flat, and I found myself not caring too much about their journey. There were some fun ideas sprinkled throughout, but I wished the storytelling was a bit more engaging. The audio production was decent, which helped keep me listening, but overall, I just didn't feel that spark.

If you're looking for something light and easy to listen to during a commute or while doing chores, it might be worth a try. But if you’re craving something with more depth or emotional connection, there are better options out there.

Almost DNF this book, but I think I stayed for the Scottish accent. You want to write a book with some gay characters? That’s fine with me. You want to make your book inclusive? Do it, but you don’t have to shove it down my throat. You want to write a they/them character? Please don’t. It makes it very confusing to listen to. Overall, I felt like the woke agenda in this book was so beat to death that it was exhausting to listen to. Not sure how the love interest was a man actually as white men are obviously the devil, according to the author. She went too far when she expressed her feelings towards the show Friends. That’s a great show! I thought that the cat was going to end up being deaf in the end and wouldn’t that have been the cherry on top of this woke banana split?!

This was a fun, light and delightfully nerdy romance!

This was a cute audiobook that had the 'friends to lover' trope with a couple of former college besties, some spicy bits and good banter.

What set it apart for me was its main character Liv who is a plus-sized, autistic woman. Through her experiences and inner dialogue, readers get a look into the life of someone who is autistic and a woman working in a male-dominated business that still tries to fit women in specific, limiting roles. Finn, despite his totally swoony Scots accent, paled by comparison.

Narration: The dual narration by Emily Atack and Stuart Martin brought the story to life and I think I enjoyed it much more due to their narration.

While the ending felt a bit rushed, I enjoyed how the author wove autism awareness and inclusion into this sweet and nerdy second chance romance that embraces the LOTR nerd that dwells within many of us. This easy listen would be a good pick for fans of Cara Bastone.

I am a sucker for second chance. I really enjoyed the way that it was portrayed in this book. Also, the friends to lovers trope was done so well. It was so believable. The banter was amazing.
I couldn’t relate to a few things in the book, but I still enjoyed reading about the different ways people experience life.
This book had a very detailed and thought out plot, which is a nice change from most spicy romance books we get these days.
Book: 3 stars, narration made it 4 stars.

Tolkienites, here's a rom-com for you.

Love, in this story, is so so adorable, from beginning to end. Liv, our curvy, neuro-atypical FMC was hurt by Stanley, her best friend from college. Over a decade later, they get a second chance to make things work, even if they’re now competing for the same job. What follows is an impossibly cute romance set against HR meetings, corporate mergers, conferences, and charming LOTR references.

I loved both the main characters. It was so obvious how much they loved each other, especially Stanley. His hesitant attempts to reconnect and rebuild trust were insanely heartwarming. The chemistry was off the charts, but never over-the-top or overdone. It stayed sweet and sincere. Considering Ollie’s experience and journey, the explicit nature of the romance felt entirely justified and well-handled. If ever a romance needed to be open-door, it was this one. Both leads felt real, relatable, and refreshingly human. When the audiobook ended, I didn't feel ready to let them go.

As for the performances, the audiobook had a bumpy start. Emily Atack was engaging, and Stuart Martin’s voice was dreamy and absolutely perfect for Finn. But in the beginning, the character voices weren’t distinct enough, and I often couldn’t tell who was speaking. Thankfully, the pacing and plot were so strong that this stopped being a distraction after a while.

And if you’re a LOTR fan, you’re in for a treat. The references are gold, and the final “I love you” is a Tolkienite’s dream.

This was such a well-done book. I was honestly surprised to learn it’s the author’s debut. I’ll definitely be watching out for more from her—and hoping for a follow-up soon. Another must-read (hear?) recommendation from me.

I didn't know what to expect as I am all about Kindle and paper books and that was my first audiobook...but WOW. This book was so much fun! I really thought listening to an audiobook would be "kinda long or neverending" but time really flew by!
Emily Atack is delightful as Liv, a woman in the spectrum working in IT (software company) who, following a company merger, meets her old crush/friend, Finn. There is mild competition between the two, but most of all, true respect, and lingering feelings. Their chemistry is amazing and you can't help but root for them!
I love how people with autism are represented there, and how love how the MMC has feelings that the reader is well-aware of.
Of course, actor Stuart Martin (formerly known as William "Duke" Wellington on Miss Scarlet) is perfect as Finn and I could have listened to his Scottish brogue telling me stories for 12 additional hours.
I've heard this is the author's debut novel and I can say that was a pretty amazing start! What a delightful, fun time I had listening to this "romcom"!

DNF 60%

The narrators are amazing - they’re the reason I made it as far as I did.

I loved the neurodiversity representation, so I think I kept going because I also liked the FMC very much.

But Finn- no. Hard pass. He was supposedly her bestie back in university, yet failed to mention that HE HAS A DAUGHTER and was with the mother at the time (I think). Either way, he lost me there and I DNFd shortly after they are in the present day and he gets her off all the while knowing he promised his 15 year old daughter he wasn’t going to date. WTAF.

This was miscommunication trope on steroids and I had to stop for my sanity. I am mostly not a fan of second chance romances, and this book was not going to convince me Finn deserved a second chance.

⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

A light romantic book about old feelings that were reborn after many years of meeting. I am very happy that the main character of the book is finally not just a sexy, hot, skinny girl. I think there should be more books like this to help women feel confident and let their femininity bloom! 💁🏼‍♀️

By the way, I listened to the book on Audible, I really liked the voice acting, it was easy to listen to and understand even in British english 😂

DNF around 70% -- I learned from reading this book that books that feature excessive commentary on a character's breasts, or abs, or whatever is not my genre. And I wasn't interested in the merger narrative.
I did rewatch Lord of the Rings, afterwards though.
