Everything That's Yellow

Rate this book
What happens when you take an utterly smitten woman who’s head over heels in love, and you tear her heart out, humiliate her, rub your new girlfriend in her face who you cheated on her with, and leave her broken all over the floor?

Charity thought her life was pretty perfect. She had a stable job, a lovely home, and Reed, the man of her dreams. She had no worries to care about except for the fact that Reed had an unhealthy obsession with his celebrity idol, Dalton Rivers. A night she thought would be a marriage proposal turns out to be a night where she finds the man of her dreams is a cheating liar who has been sleeping with a co-worker for over four months.

Add a dash of distraught behaviour, a spoonful of a broken heart, a new woman on the scene, and a mission to get as close as possible to your ex’s celebrity idol. What could possibly go wrong?

Charity is about to embark on a journey she never thought she would go on. She’s swapping Netflix and chill nights for nights in police cells, and she’s going to end up with a (it’s complicated) love life while possibly looking at a prison sentence at the same time.

This woman is going from nobody knows her to everybody knows her, and she’s out for one thing…….closure!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

this book was so good! intense, raw, and almost uncomfortably honest at times. the internal thoughts are so vivid, you feel like you’re living in the main character’s head. i love how it explores complicated emotions without shying away from the messy parts.

and the quotes?
💛 “i do not want to think about what made this magazine sticky.”
💛 “if the boat was sinking and there was a stranger and reed left on it, and they only had one space left in the lifeboat, she would most certainly give it to the stranger.”

the writing caught me a little off guard because of chapters that details characters’ background but i actually ended up enjoying it more than i thought i would!

solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the storytelling and unfiltered emotions. if you’re into stories that don’t sugarcoat reality, this one’s for you.

thank you to penny bond for the arc!

Thank you Penny for this chaotic masterpiece!

Okay so first off… THE BLURB BEFORE THE PROLOGUE?? ADORABLE. I already knew I was about to be wrecked in the best way possible. This book gave us a calculating queen in her full villain era and I was so here for it💅

Charity, our slightly delulu but lovable MC, really went through it. Like… NINE YEARS?? The way I understood why she did what she did?? Girlie pop had plans on plans for that proposal and still got played like a side quest character. I can’t.

This book had me CRACKING UP one second, screaming at the pages the next, and falling in love with a literal golden retriever man (hi Dalton, I love you) the whole time. The pacing did drag a tad in some parts (looking at you mid-section wallowing) but when it hit? It HIT.

There’s drama. There’s mess. There’s chaos. There’s a convention flashing incident I will never emotionally recover from. There’s also a golden retriever man with a picnic basket and candy like WHERE do I sign up??

Also: Reed. The. Actual. Roach. Like I’ve never hated a character more in my life??? 10/10 villain, would gladly throw my latte in his face if I could.

Bestie Della?? ICON. LIFESAVER. Therapist without the degree. Every crying girlie needs a Della in their life.

The romance?? Slow burn, sweet, slightly nerdy, and actually respectful (which shouldn’t be rare but here we are). And the character growth?? Chef’s kiss.

You’ll root for Charity. You’ll scream at her. You’ll want to throw her phone into the ocean more than once. But you’ll love her.

Final thoughts: If you’ve ever been delulu for a man who didn’t deserve you, this book is your sign to let him go and get yourself a picnic basket king.
4/5 stars – only because I needed slightly faster pacing and a bit less Reed talk, but this was messy, hilarious, and full of heart.

Small spoilers, don’t read if you want to be surprised.

Overall I liked this story, it had a fairytale vibe where the broken road Charity needed to travel was worth it because it worked out in the end. Charity is a strong person, she never gives up hope but is willing to accept and admit when she’s done something wrong. I think we can all relate to being a doormat and wanting revenge where ex’s are concerned. I found her quite relatable as a character.

Dalton is an old fashioned gentleman and always wants to see the best in people, there aren’t enough Dalton’s in the world.

Reed, well, every book needs a villain and he played that part well.

It’s personal choice but I do love shorter chapters, the book I read before this one had chapters on average 30 pages long, and the last chapter was about 60 pages, that’s far too much. It was great to pick this book up when I had a spare few minutes and read another chapter.

Can’t wait to read the next book when available.

First of all, I want to thank the author for kindly sending me this physical copy — it truly means a lot, especially since she made the extra effort to send it across for me. That thoughtful gesture touched my heart 💌

When I first received the book, I wondered if it was the right fit, as I sensed it might carry some negativity. But I decided to read it anyway 🫣

As I continued, the story completely surprised me — I found myself hooked and unable to put it down 👀

This is the journey of Charity, a heartbroken girl shaped by grief and the pain of losing her love for life. Once a passionate young woman with dreams of becoming a children’s author, she lost her way after Reed entered her life. Dalton, though, helped her reconnect with what truly mattered and reignited her inspiration 💛
They were so close to perfect love — until Reed took advantage of her trust. Charity hit rock bottom but held on to a spark of hope to find herself again 💔
I absolutely loved Della — the kind of best friend everyone needs. And Dalton… well, everyone deserves to meet someone like him at least once in their lifetime. I truly admired Dalton’s perception of life, the way he sees the world so differently 🦊

At first, I had mixed feelings about how the story would end — I couldn’t predict what would happen next.
But after reading every word, I was eager to share my thoughts with you, fellow readers.
I’m so glad I read it through to the end, and I truly enjoyed the story 🎀

Bonus: I also picked up some new words and phrases I hadn’t encountered before, which I love this reading experience more ✨

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who loves a beautifully layered story about love, heartbreak, friendship, growth, and healing 🌟

I’m definitely looking forward to reading her future stories 💛
