Whisper Pretty Lies

Rate this book
I used to think my future in pro hockey, my motorcycle between my thighs, and my friends were all I needed.
But she changed all that.

She thinks she’s above it all.

She thinks she can move into my father’s house with her gold-digging mother.

She thinks she can do no wrong, but I saw her that night.

Now I’m consumed by revenge.

And my two best friends and I will be the ones to punish her.

I won’t think about how soft her lips look or the way she whispers those pretty little lies.

My new stepsister ruined my life. And now we’re determined to ruin her.

Book 1 of a series following the heroine and her guys. Continues in Brutal Little Secrets. Prepare for a cliffhanger, but the ending of the series will be a completed HEA.

Holy Molly mother of books !
I already know this book is gonna give me a hangover, and I will have it stuck in my head for days 😭.

This was just perfection in pages !!!!
It had all the good tropes mix, be prepared for a juicy, thrilling plot, and for some high-quality spicy.
I literally yelled "nooo" when I realized I had read the last sentence and I had to wait for book 2 now.

Another stellar reverse harem out of CS Berry! She broke my RH cherry, and now I'm addicted. Whisper Pretty Lies is another story set among 18 year old high school seniors, with some loose tie-ins to Untouched. I wasn't in love with the FMC's name at first, but it's grown on me. Damon, Hawk, and Cam aren't as sensitive as their Horseman counterparts, but the Devils trio are still pushy little sex gods. EvanAnn's POS boyfriend can kindly get fucked (or keep it in his pants, either way). And I dont trust Mia, even more so that she's Tanner's sister. Cannot wait for the second book in the duet.

Book p*ssed me off
The beginning started out ok then it got good then it got bad.

The FMC was very good until she wasn't. She suddenly has zero self respect
Zero self preservation
Zero morals
Zero everything.
Zero brains
Zero common sense

She goes from super intelligent, independent cute nerdy girl to instant BJ c*msl*t
For 3 guys that have secretly recorded her naked & masturbating alone in the privacy of her own bedroom with the express purpose to BLACKMAIL the fmc..
And for whatever stupid effing reason she doesn't tell the guys she's a virgin "eye roll". So their all sticking their 🍹 c*cks in here mouth (esp Damon) like she's a blow up doll.

Like I said she's an idiot now.

Speaking of inappropriate video footage.

When all 4 are creating "rules" going forward the girl formerly known as smart Doesn't EVEN MAKE A RULE TO NO PICS OR RECORDING SMEXY TIMES. This is right where I noped out (Although having doormat FMC sit in a closet & watch her bestie have a 3some was a close 2nd. So much for consent Evan!)

The 3 mmcs have essentially blackmailed her slash get her to help take her cheating boyfriend down... Why? And how?

Ok so the cheating bf did a hit and run on one of the MMC"s a year before & the MMCS are demanding revenge but can't be connected..

Have neither of these geniuses heard of masks? Why not just the sh*t out of the dude & be done...

No they decide to go after the innocent gf of the dbag. I suppose this is why the author added the 2nd plotline that the FMC is about to become Damon's step sister.
So that's just added motivation for Damon to hate her, and her mom must be a gold digger etc

Damon treats the FMC horribly & basically like she's a free use sex doll. Literally yells at her to get naked & drop on her knees for a BJ. What a charmer.

Note to author please don't use shared smex toys between the H/h. We already know about that drawer that the FMC opened up in Damon's room.
Dude is rich, can't he buy new ones??

Please use lube for backdoor play - cause those guys with Mia sure didn't . Which means the MMC trio probably won't with the FMC.

I laughed at Hawks inner monologue about the FMC blowing 2 of the 3 mmcs at the same time.

"But fuck, seeing her on her knees is empowering".

Excuse me? What? Empowering for who exactly? Are you freaking kidding me right now?

Final thought on what was t said. So the MMC's are all like we need your help to bring down your cheating, dbag hit & run boyfriend and we can do this by super humiliating him if you sleep with all 3 of us (which is highly stupid since said bf obviously doesn't care enough since he screws anything with a pulse- seriously WHY WOULD HE CARE.

Except neither 3 MMCs mention just how they are going to prove the FMC is sleeping with them.
To humiliate the dbag that means they need proof- video or pics & to distribute that stuff around..
The sweet, intelligent wallflower is just going to go along with posting her intimate smexy videos online? Ruining her academic career & reputation?

Or I guess she could agree with screwing infront of others ( in which case see lack of self respect)

I'm supposed to believe these 3 f*cktards are going to love & respect this chick eventually??

What a waste of a potentially great book series

Whisper Pretty Lies captivated me from the beginning and I did not want this book to end!! Evan, Hawke, Cam, and Damon hooked me from chapter one! I love the characters and was happily surprised to discover a slight connection to Untouched - my favorite series by CS Berry. I enjoyed the multiple POV’s. It gave a more in depth understanding of each character’s character and what they were thinking. This book had me hooked immediately and kept my attention, the whole read with “just a few more page” until I’d finished the book. It’s not often that you get a good balance of plot and spice when you have a RH why choose read, a lot of authors just focus on the spice and not the plot, but this book had all of the spice and tons of plot. I cannot wait for book 2, Brutal Little Secrets that comes out later this year!! I have so many questions after the heart wrenching cliffhanger and I am dying to know what happens next to them. CS Berry is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I was extremely lucky to receive an ARC of this fantastic page-turner!!

DNF. RH. This book doesn’t deserve its high rating and I say that with pain. This book could’ve been good, IF the author hadn’t REPEATED EVERYTHING like a hundred times. It gets sooooooo freaking boring that the only thing actually exciting me was the closet-scene. This book could’ve done with 1/3 of the pages and it would be better for it. I truly don’t understand why authors would repeat stuff so many freaking times, other than filling up the book so it gets a decent amount of pages. Authors should instead choose quality over quantity and also trust their readers.

If you want to read incessant group sex—oral and anal by a high school group of spoiled and privileged boys this is the book for you! It’s most definitely NOT for me.

a time was had! sometimes I think to myself, what was i doing in high school and why wasn’t it like this, then I remember what I looked like in high school and how I was moving and I say never mind. if you loved untouched, buckle up cause this is even better in my opinion. the boys in this are giving bully romance but then also giving actual romance a little but also what are we and what is this in a way I love. quick tldr review LOVED. this is a bully romance for sure but it switches in the middle. you might have the guys for a bit for sure but they redeem themselves sorta. for now at least.

the uncertainty is making for some moments where I’m giggling and kicking my feet but also ready to fight them, so is EvanAnn (FMC) but the boys always bring it back around to where I'm wondering why I was mad in the first place. Hawk, they said he was the flirt and he is. the charm is working on me and EA and I'm scared of him for that reason alone. is he being genuine cause it feels genuine but he’s also a man so you know... then you have Cam who I feel like I need to get to know more, he seems sweet but at the same time, he doesn’t tell EA the tea, nay tea is too small for what he had, the PIPPING HOT BOSTON HARBOR SIZED TEA this man casually had on his phone. no he just goes over to her house and hangs out like everything is normal. diabolical. for that jail. but he’s also sweet so like probation? then you have Damon, the not yet step brother. the head of the boys, the mastermind behind all of this, and the most controlling man ever. I love him. Sue me. he's insane and I love it. watching Hawk come in and go around his requests or seeing EA get Hawk to go around his requests, love. seeing him try to be nonchalant then putting EA in his clothes at any given chance? love. them in the closet? LOVE. I am scared of Mia. I love her spirit except the fact that I don't but also if she knew I think she would be normal. I hope. I don’t know, cause she did give EA and Damon some time alone so like I think she would be respectful but idk, I’m watching her

This was absolutely filthy but also had a decent plot, the characters are amazing and overall was a great read. Is this a literary masterpiece? Probably not, but oh boy, was it ever a fun time.

The guys: Damon, Hawk and Cam are your typical bad boy, player types but they’re also very different from each other.
You’ve got Damon, who is angry as all hell about the cards he has been dealt and his world revolves around hockey and hookups. He’s very intelligent but doesn’t always focus on his grades
Cam is the social butterfly, party animal, in a room full of people still feels lonely and comes across as happy go lucky, and down for a good time. He is profoundly lonely and definitely could use a real connection outside of Hawk and Damon.
Hawk is definitely the more deep, complex character. Very academically driven, charming, and your classic tall dark and handsome. He is crazy smart and has a depth to him that I don’t think we have fully even begun to see in this book.

The FMC, Evan, is a kind, empathetic, naive, highly intelligent and extremely driven girl. She has been more of a loner at her school and her boyfriend is absolute trash. Not only does he cheat on her constantly but by the end he shows his true colours and it’s definitely not a flattering thing. She ends up in the sights of Damon, Hawk and Cam when they think she is partially to blame for an accident that results in Damon missing out on a hockey opportunity which is definitely Chase’s fault.

What starts out as revenge for the devils trio is looking like it’s definitely morphing into a lot more for all of them.

Plot: 4/5 • Spice: 3/5 ————-> EvanAnn has so much drama in her life for being a theater geek. She’s dating the crossbreed kinda guy - football player/theater guy.

Evan’s mom has them moving in with her boyfriend and his son after the house they’re renting goes for sale. The mom’s boyfriend turns out to be one of the three devils. The head guys of the hockey team - Cam, Hawk and Damon. Evan’s boyfriend is the one who caused the accident Damon’s accident last year causing him to miss out on some very important hockey things.

Out for revenge the three guys plan on stealing Evan away from Chase. However, while on the hunt for ways to make Evan theirs they find out Chase has been cheating on Evan for months. Probably because Evan won’t put out. She’s a virgin.

Living in Damon’s house now, the three guys make a deal with her. They own her while trying to find a way to take chase down. Keeping the secret videos they have of her under wraps.

This ends with Evan finally coming forward to Chase about knowing she’s being cheated on. Him leaving her in the middle of the woods. She has to call Hawk to come rescue her. All the while Damon and Chase get into a fight after he returns to the party.

This is the first book in this new series, and what an awesome beginning this story is.
EvanAnn is studious, quiet, and smart, and she aspires to become a director. When Damon is injured on a hit and run, he thinks Evan is involved, and with her two best friends, Hawk and Cam, who are know as the “Devil’s Trio” and are hockey players at their elite school, they are out for revenge.
This is a well written easy to read, action packed story, with family dynamics, friendships, emotions, drama, angst, bullying, vengeance, revelations, combustible chemistry, and is an entertaining, twisted, and unpredictable, dark romance.
This story ends in a cliffhanger!
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

The is a “Why Choose” that has great spice but an even better storyline.

I can’t wait for more audiobooks and to be able to jump back into life with Evan Anne and the Guys.

Story: 5⭐️
Spice: 4🌶️

C.S. Berry has me in a chokehold with this one. Her writing is sharp, emotional, and addictive in a way that makes putting the book down feel impossible. The story pulled me in slowly—one page at a time—until, before I even realized it, I was completely hooked (à la EvanAnn with the hockey hotties). is the perfect setup for a reverse harem romance that’s just beginning to burn.

EvanAnn is the kind of heroine I love: strong, smart, and not afraid to hold her own, even when she’s surrounded by chaos—or at least, she’s trying to be. She finds herself caught between three magnetic forces otherwise known as Damon, Hawk, and Cam. Each brings something completely different to the table: Damon is the cold strategist; Hawk, the charming instigator; and Cam, the one who sneaks up on your heart when you’re not looking. The chemistry is off the charts from their first encounter—undeniable, but combustible just the same. And the emotions are slow-building in a way that keeps you glued to the page until that sucker-punch of a cliffhanger hits.

Berry’s masterful delivery unfolds at a pace that feels deliberate and delicious. The heroes are intriguing, the tension constant, and when the sparks ignite, they’re downright combustible. Her storytelling nails that perfect balance between heart and heat—the kind that makes your pulse race one second and ache the next. The emotional depth sneaks up on you, layered between revenge, loyalty, and lust. And that cliffhanger? Ugh. I hated it. I saw it coming. I braced for it. It still tortured me until I could get my hands on Brutal Little Secret.

Final Thoughts:
Dark, intoxicating, and completely addictive, Whisper Pretty Lies is the kind of book that ruins your sleep schedule and has you checking your Kindle battery at 2 a.m. Berry nails the perfect mix of angst, obsession, heartbreak, and spice—and I can’t wait to see how she twists the knife in book two.

Quotes I love:

“You changed everything for me. You blew up my world. I didn’t know that kisses could feel that way. And yes, I was loyal to my fuckboy boyfriend, because I didn’t know better.”

"Too much of my life has been spent toeing the line. Coloring inside the boxes. Even with Chase, I let him put me in a box to keep me whole and untainted. He let me stay in my box. Damon refuses. He’s torn open the box that kept me safe from everything else. Safe from being ridiculed or teased. But now it’s like he wants to expose me to everyone else."

"The teenage hotties who slip into my dreams to do naughty things to me. It’s not like I can stop my brain from doing that. I’ve tried, but they still end up in there."

This RH coincides with the Untouched series at EvanAnn's senior year at her prestigious high school, focused on the theater program and graduation. She's a bit of a homebody but has a new boyfriend, Chase, whose extracurricular activities have painted a target on her back. Chase is a shiny-on-the-outside sort of guy, who says all the right things to charm teachers and parents, but his actions have taken Damon Storm's plans for the year off the table. Damon was determined to play NHL hockey but a hit-and-run altered his plans and he is out for Chase's blood. However, since their fathers work closely together, Chase is not readily accessible, so he goes after EvanAnn instead with his two friends, Hawk Wilker and Cam Warwick.

EvanAnn is working her brain to the limits with the student theater production as a director, staying on top of her classes, and trying to enjoy her senior year when her mother uproots them to the new boyfriend's house. New boyfriend is father to Damon, who is oddly noticing her and not in a good way. New social dynamics to decipher and juggle on top of everything else? Check. (It makes me glad that I am not a high school senior.)

After several heated interactions between EvanAnn and Damon, Hawk, and Cam, they come to an agreement. Rules are set and established, and both sides will help Damon get some level of justice with Chase. EvanAnn will keep up the ruse of dating him while maintaining as much physical distance from him because...ew...she never felt drawn to him before and after learning of his activities now, even less.

Interestingly, though, her emotions with Damon, Hawk, and Cam are growing beyond the original terms of their agreement. Hawk and Cam seek her out for their own reasons, and Damon scoffs at them, knowing that he too can't stop thinking of her. When he makes a comment of an activity off-handedly that she finds alarming, EvanAnn stands her ground and tells him no. There is a beautiful explanation of how this arrangement requires trust on both sides to make it successful. Damon begins to lower his walls and let himself enjoy the comfort of having a new ally/friend/potential lover.

The story ends on a cliffhanger whereby EvanAnn doubts everything of herself in the last few months, and Hawk is the only one unblinded by the party's dynamic to understand what transpired with EvanAnn's body language. It will be interesting to see how all four of them will repair the damage in the next book. due in late October 2025.

While not dark as some stories, please read with your emotional wellness in mind.

You guys, stop whatever you're doing and pay attention, because "Whisper Pretty Lies" by C.S. Berry is hands down everything I crave in a dark, smutty reverse harem romance, all wrapped up in one explosive package. As a massive fan of Berry's Private Listing series (her smut scenes are a total chef's kiss!), I knew I had to jump on this, and oh. My. God. This book is a slow-burn masterpiece, packed with explosive chemistry, messy emotions, and a heroine who absolutely refuses to be a pawn.

So, here's the lowdown: we meet EvanAnn – a girl with a boy's name, but don't get it twisted, she's anything but soft. She's a dedicated theater director at an elite performing arts school, seemingly a goody-two-shoes, but with a steel core and some serious trust issues. Her boyfriend, Chase, is supposed to be her ticket to big dreams, but his shady actions have painted a giant target on her back, courtesy of the school's "kings." Enter Damon, the calculating leader, and his equally intense hockey-playing best friends, Hawk and Cam. These three are out for revenge against Chase, and by extension, they set their sights on EvanAnn. What starts as a manipulative plot to use her against Chase quickly spirals into something none of them expected: real feelings, raw obsession, and a tangled mess of lust, loyalty, and power that will absolutely consume you.

The dynamic between EvanAnn, Damon, Hawk, and Cam is pure addiction. Damon is the cold, master strategist, Hawk is the protective voice of reason with a simmering intensity, and Cam? He's got that golden retriever energy, but with a dark romance twist. And EvanAnn? She might seem like the quiet, nerdy type, but she's anything but a damsel in distress. She knows how to hold her own and, despite all the mind games and sexy orgasms, she stays clear-headed about what she wants. You'll find yourself, just like the guys, waiting on EvanAnn! The academy setting adds even more juicy drama, filled with secrets and cutthroat expectations, and I loved how her theater subplot gives her a powerful voice and fire. This book doesn't shy away from heavy themes like revenge and emotional manipulation, but it's handled brilliantly. And that ending? Brutal! I literally need the sequel, like, yesterday. If you're into bully romance, enemies-to-lovers, and "why choose" chaos with serious heat and depth, "Whisper Pretty Lies" will absolutely ruin you in the best possible way. Just a heads up, this one ends on a major cliffhanger, but trust me, it's worth it.

Title: Whisper Pretty Lies
Author: C.S. Berry
Rating: 2.5 stars

Plot Summary:
EvanAnn prefers the background, focused on school and her role as play director—not the chaos of parties or the spotlight her football-star boyfriend thrives in. But not everyone sees him as the golden boy.
Enter the Devil’s Trio—three magnetic, ice-cold hockey gods with dangerous intentions. They want EvanAnn, and they don’t play fair.

Themes: Reverse-Harem, Enemies-With-Benefits, Revenge, Step-sister/Step-brother, OW/OM-Drama, Good-Girl-Bad-Boys, Sports-Romance, Forced-Proximity

My Thoughts:

Getting into this book was harder than expected. EvanAnn, the main character, was difficult to connect with—especially in how she handled her relationships. She constantly pulls away from her boyfriend's touch, which left me wondering: if she can’t even stand to be near him, why is she dating him in the first place?
The first interaction between EvanAnn and Mia felt painfully superficial and fake. Their conversation read more like something out of a first-grade friendship than a believable exchange between older teens. It was so awkwardly written I almost DNF’d the book right there. Unfortunately, their dynamic never really improved. Mia remained one-dimensional, seemingly existing only to highlight EvanAnn’s innocence and purity, which quickly grew tiresome.
That said, the relationship between EvanAnn and the male leads gradually improved as the story went on. There was some genuine tension, sneaking around, and a spark of chemistry that added intrigue. Watching EvanAnn try to navigate her complicated feelings for multiple guys did add a layer of depth that the beginning sorely lacked.
As for the central revenge plot—it was weak at best. There was little explanation as to why a hidden sexual relationship with the FMC was supposed to accomplish anything for the MMCs. At 480 pages, the story dragged without real progression in plot. It felt like things were just happening without consequence or reason.
And while there’s a fair amount of smut (which I can usually appreciate in this genre), it was repetitive and didn’t offer much development. Same scene, different day.

I’m kind of mixed feelings on this one. Can’t figure out if it’s a 2 or 3 star read.

This book has me in a chokehold in the best possible way! I adored it! First off I am in love the title of this book. I was pretty much hooked from the title and then from the first page! I didn't want to put it down and I didn't want it to end. When I finished it I wanted to start it over immediately!
C.S. Berry writes amazing why choose books and this one is no exception.
I found the school setting really interesting. I liked that there were two sides to the school. They both focused on something different but then came together. It gave the setting of the book a lot of depth and it really helped me to understand the characters and the expectations that they had from family and life. EvanAnne is the director of the school play and I so enjoyed that. I was in my school plays and found so much joy in them. So it really connected me to the story. I loved that she was the director and we got to see a different side of the play.
I loved EvanAnne's character. Her name is really unique and I think it fits her really well. I really connected with her and admired her. I felt like she had a lot of character development throughout the book and I can't wait to see how she handles things and grows in the next book.
Damon was super interesting to me. He has this dark and broody nature and I love that for him. I also love how he slowly becomes obsessed with EvanAnne. It's so conflicting to his plans and I liked his development as he has to deal with that.
Hawk and Cam are the best. I loved seeing them fall for EvanAnne. Some of my favorite parts are Hawk and EvanAnne interacting. I really love their relationship building. I didn't feel like I got to know Cam as well as the others. But I still really love him. I'm so looking forward to the next book and to continue to fall in love with them. The ending killed me and I can't wait until the next book. Overall I loved this book and would recommend to everyone!

Thank you C.S.Berry and her team for the eARC!

Oh my god.

Let me be honest and say I am a big fan of CS Berry’s Private Listing series because her smut scenes are *chef’s kiss*. So good. I’ve even read her Princes of Hollywood novel and oh man, even that was delightful.

So when I got a chance to be on the ARC team for this book, I took it. It’s not like I wasn’t planning on reading the book when it released, this just sped up the process you know?

But oh my god.

This book is basically a smutty slow burn if you will. The plot is quite simple, Damon and his friends want to use EvanAnn to take revenge on her boyfriend but they all end up falling in lust for her. They start caring for her and soon, they invite her to be a part of the revenge too. And she does so, willingly.

The chemistry tho? Amazing! Damon, Hawk and Cam all brought something different to the relationship. Damon is the leader —the “master”, Hawk is the overprotective serious dude with a voice of reason who fell for EvanAnn first. And Cam? He just gives off golden retriever energy but like a dark romance version of a golden retriever.

Then there is EvanAnn, she is nerdy, the plain Jane but she isn’t stupid. She isn’t a damsel in distress. She knows how to hold her own. What I loved about their relationship was she was in control. She was swayed many times with sexy orgasms but she was clear in her head about what she wanted and stuck her ground.

Hence why, the smuttiest slow burn —you’ll know what I mean once you start reading the novel. Somewhere down the line even I felt like the guys —waiting on EvanAnn.

Honestly, if you are a fan of the Private Listing series, and just want a book to fulfill your smutty desires, look no further!

PS: I really hope Ms Berry lives up to the different types of sex promised in this book in the next ones. Party? Bike? Classroom? Theatre practice? Being sneaky? Yes please.

Whisper Pretty Lies is everything I want in a dark reverse harem romance: explosive chemistry, messy emotions, and a heroine who refuses to be a pawn. I couldn’t put it down.

EvanAnn might look like the quiet, straight-A good girl, but underneath, she’s strong, sharp, and not as breakable as the Devils think. When her world collides with Damon, Hawk, and Cam, three elite hockey players with a plan for revenge, everything shifts. What starts as a manipulation quickly spirals into something none of them expected: real feelings, real obsession, and a tangled mess of lust, loyalty, and power.

Damon is the calculating, cold-hearted mastermind, Hawk is the protective voice of reason with simmering intensity, and Cam is pure chaos with a surprisingly sweet center. Together, they’re magnetic, destructive, and impossible to resist. The dynamic between the four of them is addictive. Every look, every touch, every betrayal made the tension so thick I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.

The academy setting adds even more depth, immersed in a pressure cooker of secrets, legacy, and cutthroat expectations. I loved how the theater subplot gave EvanAnn her own place to shine. It’s not just about the boys; she has a voice, drive, and fire all her own.

This book does have heavy themes of revenge, betrayal, emotional manipulation, but it never felt gratuitous. The characters are complex, the stakes are high, and that ending? Absolutely brutal, I need the sequel yesterday. If you’re into bully romance, enemies-to-lovers, and “why choose” chaos with serious heat and depth, Whisper Pretty Lies will ruin you in all the right ways.

Huge thanks to C.S. Berry and Hayling Bookstorm for the ARC!

I have no words, where has @csberry been my whole reading life?!?! I read her book Dangerous Game and fell in love and immediately downloaded everything else she has written. Whisper Pretty Lies is book 1 in the Lust and Liars series. It pulled me in and devoured it was all I could do! If you love a DARK why choose with three sexy, bully, obsessed, possessive hockey players and a sweet, innocent step-sister, YOU HAVE TO READ THIS SERIES!!

EvanAnn is just the sweet, awkward nerdy, innocent girl whose mother falls in love with one of the boy’s dads and suddenly, she is in the midst. These boys, Damon, Cam and Hawk. No words. They are bullies, players. Damn is the angry and hurting boy, Cam is the funny party animal who holds deep hurts and Hawk, the smart, deepfeeling thinker. They are out for revenge for something Evan’s POS boyfriend did to Damon, but she has no idea. What ensues is a whole journey of revenge falling into total obsession on both parts. It's realizing Evan has a backbone and slowly learns to stand up for herself, it’s learning these boys each have deep hurts within and truly just want love. I can’t express the heat, fire and passion between these four. Did I mention she is a v*rgin?!?! You will burn while reading these scenes. They are so good!

This ends on a cliffhanger and I am diving right into book two. This is so going down as a favorite series! 10/10!!

Whisper Pretty Lies by C.S. Berry
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🔥 Obsession Level: Unholy, Unhinged, and Utterly Consumed
🎓🖤🗡️ Stepbrother | Blackmail | Stalker Romance | “It’s sex, not feelings” | Good Girl x 3 Bad Boys

“We won't fall for the good girl. We'll ruin her.”

Evananne was just trying to survive high school, GPA intact. Her life was neat, predictable… safe. Until her mother fell head over heels for the man of her dreams—only to find out he was the devil’s father, and Evananne was the offering.

Now she’s trapped in a house where love wears a wolf’s grin. Her new stepbrother, Damon, doesn’t just want control—he demands it. Alongside his equally unhinged best friends, Cam and Hawk, they mark her as theirs in a cruel game where the rules are rigged, the contract is binding, and mercy doesn't exist. Evananne becomes prey—and property. Now she’s caught in a wicked game of revenge, control, and temptation.

📜 Contract signed.
🚫 Feelings forbidden.
💀 Obsession inevitable.

This isn’t your soft-burn romance. It’s dark, decadent, and deliciously ruinous. Damon is brutal. Cam is unhinged. Hawk is a menace in disguise. And Evananne? She’s the good girl caught in the crosshairs—until she starts playing their game back.

If you’re into possessive antiheroes, cruel games, taboo dynamics, and steam that feels like a dare, this book will ruin you in the best way.

💬 Final thought:
I’m not just obsessed. I need the second part of this duet like it’s air. C.S. Berry, true to form, spun a tale that’s not just addictive—it’s divine punishment dressed as pleasure. I couldn't put it down. It'll turn you feral in the best way...Consider yourself warned. ❤️

Whisper Pretty Lies is not anything that I was expecting and in a VERY GOOD way!

EvanAnn is a senior at an exclusive school that houses academies. She is in the artistic school and is wanting to become a director when she gets older. She is currently dating a football player named Chase and thinks her senior year is going to go amazing. On her first day she has a run in with three of the elites from the other school. They are called the Devil’s Trio. The Devil’s Trio includes Damon, Cam, and Hawk. She doesn’t understand why they are suddenly interested in her, but she keeps on with her day.

When she first meets Mia in the office she still thinks it is going to be an amazing year. Slowly, but surely the day starts to turn and she has no clue why. The Devil’s Trio are in a majority of her classes and they make it a point to sit next to her when they never have before and it is beyond confusing.

After school, when EvanAnne gets home she learns that her and her mom are moving into her mom’s boyfriend’s house with him and his son. When they get to dinner to meet them she learns her mom’s new boyfriend’s son is none other than Damon.

Later in the book EvanAnne learns that Damon was in a motorcycle accident and Chase was behind the wheel and drove off.

Lots happens and EvanAnne begins to have feelings for the Devil’s Trio and for multiple reasons that you will read starts a relationship with all of them unbeknownst to Chase for Damon to get his revenge.

This was an amazing book with things you don’t see coming. I couldn’t put it down and I cannot wait for book two because there was a major cliffhanger at the end and I NEED to know what happens.

It’s been a while since I read a why choose or a bully romance. I was off why choose for a but because it wasn’t hitting right, and I’m glad I did because it just made this book 10 times better. The blurb doesn’t give us the whole perspective but it’s about 3 popular guys in school, Damon, Cam and Hawk, otherwise known as the Devils of the school. And they’ve set their sights on EvanAnn, the nerdy theater girl, who's in line for Valedictorian. However she has a boyfriend who happens to be their enemy. They want revenge and things start getting heated. I love a good revenge plot and some bully action, not in real life of course, but it is a really fun trope. There’s so much tension, he’s brutal, and she’s guarded, we’re just constantly waiting for one of them to snap first and actually show their feelings. I also love how after they started their “relationship” they kept their boundaries. There was quite a bit of smut so check triggers since this is a polyamory/why choose relationship. I love the whole bad boy x good girl thing, but not as much if it stretches 500 pages and I’m wanting the next step. There’s not much side plot, it really just focuses on their relationship, how they navigate it, and a lot of our fmc doubting herself unfortunately. And I totally get it, but after 500 pages I’ve had enough. I’m really impatient, that's why it’s hard for me to read a series but I will anxiously wait for the next book of this. I liked Hawk the best, he seems to be the most in touch with his feelings. Can is cool too, and so is Damon but he’s a little annoying, and in a way contradictory. It does focus mostly on him near the end so hopefully we get more of the other guys. He’s not really morally grey he’s more of an a-hole, anyways I did enjoy and I give it a 3.5/5

I had the pleasure of receiving an advanced reader copy of this book! I typically steer clear of spicy books set in high school, even when the characters are all 18. However, something about the blurb made me think they were seniors in college. Regardless, the writing was excellent, and the plot really pulled me in. As I approached the 80% mark, I sensed a cliffhanger was coming—there was simply too much happening and not enough pages to wrap it all up. Fortunately, the next book is scheduled for release just a few months later, so I won’t have to wait long to find out what happens next. This is my first book by C.S. Berry, and I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘢 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦. “𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘲𝘶𝘰𝘵𝘦.”

EvanAnn is exactly the kind of person I would have befriended in high school. She's sweet, smart, and fiercely loyal. Despite never having a boyfriend or close friends until now, as she heads into her senior year, she's on track to become valedictorian while also directing the fall play. With her first boyfriend and a new best friend, things are undeniably getting more complicated. To top it off, her mom is moving in with her new boyfriend and his son, who just so happens to be the hottest guy at school. Not only that, but he and his friends have their eyes set on her.

As always, be sure to check your trigger warnings. This book was easily a 4-star read, and I'm counting down the days until the sequel!

C.S. Berry has done it again! If you’re familiar with her work, you’ll understand the magic she weaves into her characters. She has a unique ability to make you fall in love with every flaw, every jagged edge. You don’t just read about her characters—you feel with them. Her talent for capturing emotion and internal dialogue draws you in completely, and Whisper Pretty Lies is no exception.

This is a “why choose” romance, and while I initially had some hesitation due to the main female character’s (EvanAnn’s) discomfort and disconnection in her existing relationship, it quickly became clear that those odd vibes were part of something deeper. It was that sixth sense we often get as women—her intuition was picking up on something her conscious mind hadn’t caught yet. Because when it comes to the male main characters… let’s just say, there’s no hesitation there.

EvanAnn’s exploration of her desires is intense, liberating, and empowering—sometimes in the darkest, most depraved ways. It’s pure ecstasy on the page. While this story could be mistaken for a bully romance, I wouldn’t personally classify it as one. There are light bully undertones, perhaps born out of miscommunication or emotional tension, but that’s not the heart of the story. Instead, the book is layered with emotional growth, desire, power dynamics, and deep connection.

I’ve completely fallen for EvanAnn and her men, and I honestly can’t wait for the next instalment. Also—on a completely unexpected note—I never thought a book could make me desperately want a Jack and Jill bathroom, but here we are.
