“Would you like to immerse yourself in naughty men and their deepest desires again? Feel the way they make your body tremble and yearn for more? I do.” – Ruby Skye
Ruby Skye is an erotic romance author who writes addictive kink positive stories bringing to life fantasies and taboo desires.
Hi I’m Ruby, I'm an indie author who loves to write about relatable, hard working submissive women who are sexually open minded. My motto is less angst and more smut. I like my men strong, hot and confident in what they want and I love writing about what they'll do to my female main characters.
A few personal details about me. I have a wonderful husband, two children and a dog. I live in Melbourne Australia although I was born and raised in London, UK. I work for myself during the day and write during my spare time. And that’s around home life, kids’ sports, dog walks, the movies and dancing with my friends after a few glasses of Prosecco.
Well, this book threw me for a spin! The spice is next level compared to the first book and wilder than I expected. It really messes with your mind and makes you question yourself. I had so much fun reading it, even though it definitely pushed some sexual limits.
I absolutely love how this story follows a woman exploring all kinds of kinks in a way that feels empowering and free of judgment. I devoured every single James and Matty scene I’m obsessed and need more!
I was hoping to see some of the players from the first book, but there’s still hope for the third! I need to know who the CEO is. I’m so looking forward to book three I need it now!

Obsessed, in love, need more on the asap. A great continuation to the first book and it was so different as well. I loved how this pushes boundaries but allows exploration of Kinks in a non-judgmental way. The spice was soooo good (as usual) and the building of the relationship between Rosie & James, it was so hot and beautiful to read. This is definitely a character focused book, making it feel like you are living these experiences with Rosie. Also, need to know ASAP on what happens with Matt?!!
I’m so obsessed with this series. It is 100% not for everyone and before reading, definitely read the TW. There’s a lot going on.
Rosie has such a beautiful heart and the way she is able to show love to the men who hire her - and help them accept themselves - is such an incredible element to these books that could otherwise be dismissed as being purely written for shock value. The author has crafted a strong yet so vulnerably thoughtful FMC, which is so refreshing in a sea of books with played out tropes and weak protagonists, most of whom make you want to scream.
Rosie and James have such a strong relationship and their ability to communicate and support each other is admirable. From the way he cares for her after her jobs to her encouraging him to discover himself, and even to the introduction of Matt(!?), I just love the way this marriage is written. It’s just so refreshing to see, especially in a book with this kind of content.
This book was absolutely phenomenal! it is book 2 out of 3 in the series ( I assume 2 out 3 i don't know how many books are gonna be in this series in total )
plot: 5/5 stars spice: 5/5 chilli peppers
the FMC and all the MMC's were fantabulous. I love James and Angus the most along with Matty, I couldn't get onto the train with Jacob, he's just too hardcore for me personally but hey to each their own.
thank you RUBY SKYE for sending me this ARC and I can't wait to ARC read book 3 for you 🩷
After finishing the first book, I had some reservations about how the second one would go. I mean thats a tough act to follow... but, Ruby really knocked it out of the park with this one!
James.. there is no better man out there. Sorry not sorry. The way this man just unequivocally supports and loves Rosie no matter what is truly what dreams are made of. "I love you Rosie, with every fiber of my being. I love that you can share so freely with me and despite my jealously this week, I do love sharing and hearing what men pay to do with your body. This is our true partnership. Always come back to me and I will always be here waiting for you." Literally swoon. I actually think one of the things that I love the most about this story is watching not only Rosie grow as a person and open herself up to all these new experiences and connections, but also watching James explore things that he never realized were a part of himself. Like yeah okay, cool husband letting his wife go off and work and gain these experiences, but okay SLAY husband clocking new things about himself through listening to his wife. "It drives me wild imagining. And I thought, what is better than imagining? Watching."
I admire the heck out of Rosie and the way that Ruby has written her. The way that this woman just approaches everyone with an open mind and is able to see people in ways most others wouldn't, is just so beautiful. Her level of compassion and openness is truly inspirational. It tugs at my damn cold black heart every time she validates one of the mens insecurities and they just light up. And then it destroys me a little bit every time she has to leave them behind. James, any chance you want to open up that marriage bud? "You went in open hearted and open minded; you did not shy away from their k!nks, you enabled them and allowed them to explore and enjoy them without reproach or disgust."
Now, for my absolute favourite part of this entire book... Jacob. Listen, the second he was introduced I said "I fear Sandy has wildly mislabeled this human by calling him intense". And then I said "I'm scared of him which probably means I'm going to love him because I'm toxic like that." and god do I ever love how self aware I am because that could not be more true. This man reminded me so much of West from the Four Horsemen Series by Sarah Bailey which was a) such a transformative series for me and b) West is my roman empire of book boyfriends. So naturally, I am obsessed with Jacob. Truly obsessed with this unhinged man. "My sadistic monster is enjoying himself." He went from being so closed off and angry because he's been rejected by society for enjoying the things he enjoys, to opening himself up to Roxy and allowing her to open him up to new experiences. "Right now, you are the best thing to ever happen to me. The best thing to ever happen to us. I've never seen Jacob hand over his knife the way he did with you today." When Roxy had to leave their house, I was utterly destroyed emotionally. He is by far my most favourite character that Ruby has written and I would happily trade James for more time with Jacob which is saying a lot given how much I have sung the praises of James. Please Ruby, bring back Jacob 😭 "Never in my life have I seen eyes shine back at me in desire. The harder I pushed you, the more I did to you, the more your eyes asked for more. You are something special, Roxy."
Phew… give me a second to catch my breath after that ride. If I thought The Secret Club was scorching, The Secret Job cranks the heat up to downright incendiary. I’m honestly not sure where to even begin—because wow. The kinks here? Next level. Honestly, maybe a bit too much for me in a few moments, but Ruby’s writing and the way everything is portrayed kept me hooked. I had to see how Roxy would react to it all—and she never disappointed.
Roxy proves her mettle again and again, diving headfirst into the Red Board and taking on increasingly risky jobs with even greater rewards. What I love about her is that she doesn’t fixate on the kink—she sees the person. She understands how suffocating it must be for someone to hide who they truly are, no matter how “depraved” society might label them, and she longs to give them comfort and space to be themselves. She brings this infectious joy to her work, which is exactly why she’s so valued in the club. These men feel genuinely seen by her, and you can feel their affection leap off the page.
We also get more of James and Rose’s relationship this time, and I loved seeing how her jobs ripple into their marriage. They’re still strong, still committed, and it’s heartwarming to watch them navigate the tension and always find their way back to each other. And then there’s Matty… oh, Matty. Sparks don’t just fly—they ignite. This is a dynamic I didn’t know I needed, but now I can’t get enough.
By the end, I was devouring every page, grinning, blushing, and occasionally fanning myself. This was another wild, unapologetic smutfest from Ruby Skye, and I am so ready for The Secret Proposal. Bring it on. 😈
Ok friends… this one is a doozy 😂. The Secret Job is the second instalment in the Clarendon Playmates Kink Series and damn if it doesn’t kick up a few notches from book one! I’ll admit going in I looked at the CW/TWs and thought “there’s some stuff on here I’ve never heard of, but I’m sure it’s fine…”. And ultimately it was fine, but it was also a lot lol. My limits were tested on more than one occasion, but I always wanted to keep reading.
Besides for the spice/kink factor being amped up, another difference between book one and two is the non-playmate storyline of James and Rosie is developed more. Personally I’ve become fairly attached to James (I mentioned that in my review of The Secret Club), so at times I really struggled with feeling like he’s getting the short end of the stick and made Rosie just a ✨smidge✨less likeable for me. We also get introduced to Matty which was really awesome, but I feel like I don’t know nearly enough about him and I want more!
The third book will be released shortly and to say I’m chomping at the bit to hear about the next job for Roxy, and how things develop for Rosie, James, and Matty is a huge understatement!
⚠️ If you choose to read this series, please take a moment to review the content and trigger warnings, especially for The Secret Job! Feel free to message me if you want me to send you the warnings and to ask any questions (I’ll try to answer spoiler free!).
Can we please have a round of applause for Ms Skye & her Clarendon Playmates Series because I defy anyone to find a book as detailed as these, regarding the wonderful world of kink! 👏👏👏
Following on from book 1, Rosie/Roxy is reunited with hubby, James. Their relationship has changed slightly after his own exploration in her work life, becoming the Dom of her dreams. And then there’s Matty (but I’ll leave you with that little tease). Then comes the job! All very hush hush, potentially darker & more depraved than she’s experienced thus far but Rosie is a trooper!
I loved this! It’s definitely darker than 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 but the whole intensity & anticipation leading up to the job had me hooked. The darker aspect definitely appealed to my dark romance loving little heart, particularly the interactions with the two brothers & how the story unfolded within that dynamic. This series definitely worth a read, I highly recommend it for your tbr!!
I really enjoyed reading The Secret Job! It’s a great follow-up to the first book and kept my attention from start to finish.
Ruby doesn’t hold back on exploring more kinks, which adds a lot of heat to the story. What I appreciate most is how Rosie is portrayed as a strong, confident woman who is learning more and more about her desires and isn’t afraid to give them a shot and embrace them. At the same time, she shows real compassion and empathy toward the men she’s with.
I loved getting to see more of James, his connection with Rosie and his growth throughout the story, I feel, for their dynamic is just as important as hers. My only wish? I was left hanging and really want to know what happens with Matty! Overall, a five-star read if you enjoy passionate stories with page-to-page smut.
Well I didn't think it could get raunchier than the first. Wow it was spicy. 5+ 🌶 we're talking ghost pepper or something.
These books are filled with different types of play, it's a good way to read and learn about some. This book showcased some things I've never heard of before. Some I learned are a definite no for me.
I'm glad we got more of James in this book. That we've seen more of his discoveries and how their home life and marriage are evolving. I can't wait to see in book 3 where the new factors come into play and how they permanently change the relationship.
This book had me questioning some things about myself lol. I love how Skye humanizes every single character. Humans are such complex beings with our own likes and dislikes in all parts of life. She has written an incredibly spicy story, but it’s really just a complex human story. It’s about not hiding who we truly are. It’s about shame. And societal standards. And so much more! Time to dive into book 3!
Totally unbelievable and stupid that she would like everything they did.
What they did to her was cringe and not cool. She trusted them eventhough Jacob and Mateo were cruel. And then at the end they let a whole group abuse and p*ss on her? I really got mad with that.
I kinda liked book one but this was not nice. I read the trigger warnings and they did not bother me, it was purely that she trusted them to take care of her and they breached that.

Another fantastic piece of the Clarendon Playmates series! I absolutely love the addition of Matty to the mix and can’t wait to see how that storyline unfolds. As for our side pieces 😜 Jacob is one tough cookie to crack and man do I wish we could see more of his storyline! Angus was sweet and wild in his own way, Mateo well let’s just say he’s not my cup of tea. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
This is book two and picks up where it left off. You will devour the book. You can expect heat and kink. We reconnect with Rosie and James. Rosie continues to explore all kinds of kinks while working at the golf club. I like that we get to see more of the relationship between Rosie and James and how it ripples into their marriage. The ending left me hanging what happens next with Matty!
Great, quick read. I can’t wait for book #3. It was an emotional roller coaster. Kind of appalled, but also empathetic at the same time. I can understand Roxy’s way of thinking. I guess I didn’t realize the different types of sexual gratifications there are in the world lol.
Skim to the scenes and the secret job. Worthy! This should be a novella - with basically one scene - the secret job. Everything else is fluff and really doesn't matter, but this 5-day scene of kink is fab.
This book was a crazy, wild ride and the spiciest thing I have ever read. I'm genuinely shocked, and the author's imagination ran completely off the rails!
Now I don't know if I dare read the newest installment. 🫣🌶🥵
3.5 ⭐️ this took me far too long to get though… 5 🌶️ these books are pure spice, some really good spicy scenes - some that made me want to skim read with extreme kinks that were definitely not my idea of a good time…
I don’t know if I liked it as much as the first one and I think it’s because like 200 page onwards where she finds an orgy to spend time with the kinks are just more ridiculous I should’ve known I didn’t want to read about needles for 30 pages
Book 2 (of 3+). I had wondered how the author could possibly reach the high bar set by Book 1 but, pfft, no worries mate. This was not just as good as, it was better. We're seeing more complexity in Rosie's character; she's got a big heart that shines through and I'm so invested in her now. Super interesting spiciness she gets herself into.
Love the story behind each “job”. I will say this book had some very interesting kinks, which made it hard for me to finish. But over all very well written!
Big job in this one was dad & two sons. Paid 1 million dollars for 5 days. Secret job was a secret - unlike other jobs kinks not known before but for the money she was keen.
Honestly wild! 🤪 🌶️
James her husband backs her all the way and you see him learn about his own kinks and fantasies. To top it off there is another possible love interest for them both.
