Ganymede Survivors #1

Open Mike at Club Bebop

Rate this book
Travertine Garcia is out of funds, out of options, and her air tax is due in the morning; you live on the moon, you pay for air. You can’t pay, you go looking for miracles, like the Bebop’s legendary open microphone, netcast by its equally legendary owner, Joseph Bannister.

Bebop owner Joe “Glitch” Bannister is sleepwalking through his second life, tweaking the gang that wants payola and hacking for the Strike Force that put him back together after blowing him apart.

Until Travertine decimates the Open Mike, flatlines on his stage, and wakes him up. She’s everything he didn’t know he needed, a deep-dive performer with an ancient-tech interface who can’t carry a tune outside the net.

When the Blue Dragon gang kidnaps her while he’s off chasing down a rumor about the Ganymede conflict that got him temporarily killed, Joe’s ready to fight for the woman and the club; but it’s going to take both of them to save the venerable stage and each other.

Another great scifi rom from Val Roberts.

Joe "Glitch" Bannister, is a survivor of the Ganymede disaster that saw a lot of fellow soldiers die. He is repaired, along with a mate, Sasha, and they are both tasked with undercover work.

Everyone on the moon, is wired up to the net, and life is extremely hard. If you can't pay the air tax, say hello to an airlock.

Travertine Garcia, is desperate. She scrapes enough to make it to the open mike night at Club Bebop, Joe's place, jacks into the net and wows everyone. Her life instantly changes and Joe has found another stray.

Love everything that Val writes and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

I really enjoyed this book. At only 108 pages, it was a fast read, but so much fun. There were a few aspects of the story that didn't make sense to me as they weren't explained in depth, but again, at 108 pages, not much time to get into the nitty-gritty, and those details, specifically related to the net diving, didn't take away from the overall story. Though there seemed to be a lack of detail in that respect, the detail in the steamy scenes, especially the first one, was so good. Both Seven and Glitch had their tragic pasts that you were so happy they found each other but the story also left you wanting more. I highly recommend this read to anyone who likes a HEA. Absolutely worth it!
