A hidden journal. A haunted bracelet. A cat with a nose for danger. And a lighthouse murder that won’t stay quiet…
Back on Maine’s rugged coast, artist Emily Harper is settling into her creaky home and its secret-stuffed attic when she uncovers a trove of nautical curios—an old compass, a spyglass, a locket-etched map, even a sextant—that hint at a legend entwined with her family’s past. The bracelet on her wrist doesn’t help her sleep—it pulls her into dizzying flashes of elsewhere, the kind that feel too true to ignore.
When a body turns up at Owl’s Head Lighthouse, Emily’s visions sharpen, pointing to a ciphered journal and a treasure someone would kill to keep buried. With Bill and Martha at her side and Grayson—their fearless feline scout—always one paw ahead, she follows clues from Machiasport’s shores to storm-carved cliffs, decoding a Vigenère that may unlock the truth…or paint a target on her back.
As secrets shift beneath the tides and a killer circles closer, Emily must trust her unsettling gift and the cat who keeps finding the way out—before the next vision is her last.

Glad I finished the series. Decent mystery. Character development grew. But I don’t think I could read another one. The number of times the author describes the main character letting out her breath, made me want her to pass out and get it over with. Or the number of times she bit her lip, she should need stitches by now. Or…the number of times her heart was hammering in her chest, she really should see a cardiologist. If the author expanded her descriptions, the books would have been significantly better.
Glad this series is over! While I enjoyed visiting lighthouses we have toured on our travels, the repetitive conversations between the four principals make up more than half the book and became wearying.
Looking for treasure and a murderer as a group. They had a hard way to go. With four pieces of the clues and the map they still needed a key. When all was done they had to fight off a murderer.
