Dr. Edison Cole never imagined his life would take such a drastic turn when he boarded a plane heading to Nigeria. “It’s only a year,” his boss told him. “You will be back in the States before you know it. The Nigeria Mesa Research Lab is one of the top international research labs in the world. You are going to be part of a research team that is starting a new era in vaccine innovation.” Edison repeated those words in his head over and over as if they would make it easier to leave behind his wife, Alexandra. Edison’s boss was right. The Nigeria Mesa Research Lab was on the list of top research labs. It was every scientist’s dream to work there. His team was made up of world-renown scientist and virologists from the international community and one local Nigerian scientist, Dr. Tobi Kalu. Edison and Tobi are tasked to continue intensive preclinical research on a new vaccine, Aljan, which proved promising in curing a deadly viral disease in an initial clinical trial. More deadly than Ebola, the virus was thought to turn its victims into catatonic creatures before claiming their lives. From as far north as England, through the Middle East, and all the way down to South Africa, the disease has killed thousands. Something had to be done. During follow-on clinical testing of a derived formula, things go awry when the entire test population exhibited greatly exacerbated symptoms and died a painfully horrible death. As if things could not get any worse, the dead appeared to regain life, but as flesh-eating zombies. As the lab is overrun and these creatures escape the compound, Edison and Tobi flee for home. However, their trip will not be as easy as they think. Nigeria has fallen into total chaos. The outbreak has spread from Africa to Europe faster than they imagined. But only they can save the world from a total zombie apocalypse with the right vaccine formula. Will they find it in time? Or will the world perish without hope?
