Gracie Evans is a woman tired of the men in her life not satisfying her in bed. She’s had a string of boyfriends, but none of them have come close to satisfying the vivid fantasies she has. Two weeks before Valentine’s Day, she breaks up with her latest boyfriend after a night of lackluster sex.
When her best friend, Luke Forsythe, overhears her talking to their friend Michelle about what she really wants, he’s stunned. And very turned on. Gracie thinks there isn’t a man alive who can satisfy her in bed. Luke aims to prove her wrong.
Maya Banks is the #1 New York Times, #1 USA Today and international bestselling author of over 50 novels. A wife and mother of three, she lives in Texas.
Another entry for my "so bad it's funny" shelf! This was so dreadful that I would have given it 1-star but I laughed in places so at least I found it funny.
Gracie is tired of having awful sex so she dumps her latest boyfriend. While she's confessing the need for some spice in the bedroom to one of her best friends, a male BFF hears the conversation and decides he's the man for the job. After all, he's into all the things Gracie wants to do. But instead of coming clean with this "best friend", he asks her out on a date. This was one of the most awkward dates in the history of dates. I mean, really, she kept saying..."this is awkward! why do you want to go out me?" There was just no chemistry whatsoever between the two of them and the time they spend as a "couple" is just mentioned in a few lines. Not even the kinky sex was exciting and this included bondage, spanking and even a menage with one of her other male BFFs.
The funny part came when she discovers that her BFF knew of her kinky fantasies BEFORE he asked her out on a date. THAT'S when she gets embarrassed, like having a threesome with two men from your circle of friends is not embarrassing enough! Then she runs away whining "you made me fall in love with you!" and behaves like a complete ninny, driving fast and going to one of her female friends to cry at 4am. At least afterwards, she realizes how dumb she had been.
The proposal at the end seemed totally forced. Nothing in the book showed how these two people fell in love.
I should stay away from Maya Banks. I rarely like what she writes.
This was a quick audiobook that I enjoyed listening to. It's a friends to insta-lovers story, but that could simply be because of the small size of this book.
Gracie has bad taste in men. After breaking up with this last guy, Luke overhears Gracie talking to a friend about the sexual disappointment she's had with her exs. She wants to be a bit more adventurous in that department, but no one has been able to fulfill that desire.
Luke and Gracie have been friends for a while, but Luke begins to see Gracie in a different way. He realizes that maybe they would be a good couple. Luke makes the move and crosses over the friend line with Gracie.
As things are going good with them, Luke decides he wants to make one of her desires come true, having a threesome. He talks things over with Wes who agrees to join them and embarks on a sexy night between the three. There's a misunderstanding between Gracie and Luke that forces them to face their true feelings for one another.
This story feels very familiar to me. I know I haven't read this book, but there is another book out there that is so similar. Oh well...like I said, it was a quick, fun read.
A short steamy story. Involving MMF. The story starts with Gracie feeling weary for her love life and lack luster performance from her boyfriend. Accidently she shares her intimate fantasy to her best friend and Luke listens in. To his suprise, Gracie fantasy including having sex with 2 males.
Maya Banks always have wonderful and steamy talent writing a very sexy good time. This novella has all of her signature.
Oh for the love of all things holy ... use this story as a drinking game by taking a shot every time the word pussy is used - you'll be dead before the middle.
It's wonderfully stupid and porny but please expand your descriptive vocabulary Maya Banks.
Great book! This book is part of a series of very short, hot reads.
This story moves really fast, but the scenes are H-O-T!
God, I love her writing!! I had a rough day at work that day and just bought this book and plunked myself into a hot bath and this story perked me right up!
Yes, this is a naughty little menage book, hehe. But it's not a "forever" one. It is a couple who bring in a friend. That is a new one for me, haha!
If you're looking for a quick, hot bathtub read, look no further!!
Erotica isn’t my usual genre but I’ve read several of Maya Banks’s romance novels and liked them so when I saw that she also had a bunch of successful eroticas with loyal followings, I figured I’d check one out. Better to go with an author I already like for my first time out, right? Unfortunately this book left me kind of meh. I wouldn’t say that it’s killed erotica for me or anything, it wasn’t that bad, but it left me unmoved.
Overheard is a very short book, only 3 audio CDs, and that doesn’t leave much time for character or plot development. The synopsis pretty much gives you all there is. Gracie is tired of boring sex and wants to walk on the wild side. She wants to explore bondage and 3-ways and spanking just for a start. One of her male BFF’s, Luke, overhears her saying this and it suddenly makes him see her in a whole new light. Supposedly he’s never thought of her as an attractive woman, despite having known her for years. Now he wants to make all her sexual fantasies come true.
But because he thinks she’ll be upset that he accidentally overheard this stuff, he decides to lie to her and pretend that he’s just randomly decided he wants to date her. She’s puzzled when he asks her out but really doesn’t protest all that much, considering how badly it could wreck their friendship group if things go south. And just as quickly, she confesses all these fantasies to him
Valentine’s Day weekend he takes her up to a secluded cabin to enact all these fantasies, including getting one of their other male BFFs, Wes, to come be their third. Gracie doesn’t have any problems with Luke having shared her fantasies with Wes. But then she overhears Luke admit that he knew about her fantasies before he asked her out and she freaks. She blurts out that she’d fallen in love with him over the last week of dating and that now she realizes he was just trying to give her a good time in the bedroom, not really date. Then she runs out of the house barefoot, steals his truck and speeds all the way home to another friend’s house at 4 am where she cries and then crashes on the couch. Luke shows up the next morning and proposes, the end.
I felt like I was left with a lot of questions both at the beginning and at the end of the story. We didn’t really get to know the characters and their relationship at the start, and we don’t know what’ll happen in their future. I mean, are they going to keep having 3-ways with Wes, even after they’re married? What happens when Wes wants to date someone? Did their friendship group survive?
All in all, this book hasn’t sold me on the genre. I think I need a bit more story with my sex or I just can’t get invested.

This audiobook from the library was hilariously terrible. I made it through 1/3 and its less than 3 hours. The reader makes it more ridiculous. At least I laughed?
Luke and Gracie are close friends. They are part of a group of five (or seven?) who hang out often together. Gracie has bad taste in men, but she's never seriously considered Luke or Wes, the other single guy in the group, to be potential date material. Sure, they're hot, but they're all just friends.
After Gracie breaks up with her latest mistake, Luke overhears her talking to their friend Michelle about why and about her fantasies. Luke is totally on board with helping her fulfill them since they're so in tune with his own. So begins a process of Luke winning Gracie over. And setting up a weekend of mild domination and menage (with Wes).
I feel like this was a little bit insta-love because they really only spent a week together in a romantic capacity before declaring love. At the same time, they'd been close friends for so long, they already loved each other as friends. I guess it's not too much of a stretch for those feelings to turn to romantic love over the course of a week. It still felt a little too soon.
And honestly, if I had been Gracie, and overhearing Wes and Luke talking, I'd have probably jumped to the same conclusions she did. Luke didn't really feel like a very deep character to me based on what I read. He could have just been in it for the sex. So I get where she was confused!
This was a quick and dirty little audiobook. Not great literature, but a fun little story about best friends to lovers, with a twist. Luke overhears Gracie tell a mutual friend that she is so tired of dating men who can't satisfy her needs in the bedroom. When he hears that her ultimate fantasy is to share a bed with two men, he knows he and his friend Wes can make her fantasy a reality. Seemingly out of the blue, Luke asks Gracie on a date. As they spend time together in a new way without their usual group of friends around they both realize that they have always regarded the other as a bit more than just a friend. Naturally there is a misunderstanding, which leads to each facing their real feelings. This can be read as a standalone.
Bored? Cleaning house? I highly recommend listening to this short escapade (via Overdrive) to keep you motivated. ;p Two hours cleaning the bloody carpet... Never got bored. Not once.
I still can’t get over this grown man being genuinely shocked that women have sexual fantasies. And he was supposedly experienced in threesomes with women.. so did he think they were all just purely for his gratification alone? Such a bad book.
I liked this book, but it required a lot of suspension of disbelief. The sex scenes were really hot, and it's clear that those are the only real meat of the story. They weren't necessarily realistic, either, but that's okay. It's the actual relationship that frustrated me. The book spans a relationship that lasts one week after a friendship where neither party had ever even considered romance and
The narrator was really good at what she did. Her voice was sultry, and she was good with emotion and voices. The author was good at having variety in the scenes that were really hot. Light BDSM and power play. But the lack of healthy communication was grating.
Yeah it was bad. Idk why I had this book (audiobook) on hold on Libby, but I listened to it today and it was pretty not great.I wasn’t enthralled in the story or the characters. The sx scenes were boring ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I’m thinking if I read it myself, it would’ve been a SMIDGE better than listening to the narrator, her accent wasn’t my cup of tea.
I actually fell asleep at like 90% and had to wake up and rewind the ending. It was bad :)
4 star erotic rating. Was this a great story, no. But it was pretty good. On the short I would give it 3 star as a romance. It is friends to lovers, invite a friend, hot sex, fall in love. It is under 100 pages. Kindle says 95 but felt like 65, so a real building of characters and relationship and what will happen next doesn't happen. But they are built enough to feel a connection between the characters and appreciate the erotic, spanking, flogging, and hands behind the back. Kinky not BDSM.
This book tried to balance plot and smut but ended up falling flat in both areas. The dialogue felt cringe-worthy and robotic. The smut was mediocre at best, especially for a story centered around fulfilling fantasies. The characters were likable, though that might have just been me trying to find the good in an otherwise underwhelming book.
ok… for posterity I feel obligated to log this but PLEASE hear me out. all I wanted was a nice short smutty novel with NO fairies or world maps. saw this WITH A MUCH BETTER COVER from my local library. “none of the men in her life can satisfy her vivid fantasies” … sure, why not. thought it was gonna be some real freak shit. imagine my disappointment when the fantasy was just handcuffs and actually receiving an orgasm. had to stop 60% of the way through because girl. come on. i’m an adult.
This was wrong and bad in many ways, but for a 3 hour audiobook (I hated the narration though, it was awful, to be honest) I guess you get what you get. It was definitely a quick mini-read.
Gracie is tired of having bad sex with her boyfriend so she dumps him 2 weeks before Valentine's Day. While talking about her sexual desires with her best gal pal, one of her bro-friends overhears. Of course, he decides he's going to give it to her good. This will include instantly falling into love, some spanking, some sex, and then inviting a second male friend into the bedroom for some menage-a-trios action.
If you don't mind spoilers: Flash forward to two weeks later and it is Valentine's Day and of course her now amazing lover and friend proposes and she says yes. Of course, this is just terrible, terrible fiction.
The pros: It is quick, a light read that is fun if you're in the mood for a sexy read but don't want to invest too much time, and it features a menage scene.
The cons: The narration (audio book) should be avoided at all costs, it is super corny, dorky, and unrealistic...
