Decoding Morse

Rate this book
How Amelia got her groove back, a reverse age gap, single mom military MC romance.

Levi (Morse) Cade is the eyes and ears for the Dead Presidents MC. He works, eats, and, some suspect, sleeps in the club's surveillance room, protecting his chosen family of veterans and their dependents. When someone targets the widow he swore to protect, Morse must step out from behind the scenes or watch her die.

Amelia Hansen is busy running a non-profit and preparing her youngest child for college when a blast from the past shows up on a motorcycle to whisk her into protective custody, away from an unknown threat. He's eight years her junior and off limits, but watches her like she's the code he's been waiting his entire life to crack.

This love-starved, forty-something single mom is in for the ride of her life.

Assuming the hitmen don't get to her first.

The Dead Presidents MC is a brotherhood of military veterans formed to help vets reintegrate into civilian society. They’re the good guys… mostly. Complete, standalone HEA love stories. No cheating, no cliffhangers.

2.5 ⭐️

This one had a lot of potential. Reverse age gap (35 H, 43 h), widow, single mom, somehow forbidden since he was saved by her husband when he was 18. Quite a history with these two, and he had a thing for her for a very long time (7 years, I think). But it failed so hard.

The plot was all over the place.
The angst was not it.
She said , " I love you," in 3.5 seconds.
The spice was flat.

At least it was a freebie 😁. And I liked how her insecurities and the reality of hitting the 40s were portraited.

I'll just stop here. Maybe it will work for someone else.
It can be read as a standalone. I might go back and try some books of his MC brothers.

Decoding Morse is part of the Dead President MC series, however can be read as a standalone. It’s the first book I’ve read by this author and I didn’t feel I was missing anything by starting with this one.

This is a reversed age gap; older woman and younger man.

Morse has always had a thing for Amelia, but struggles to admit it. He knew her previous partner and feels a sense of loyalty to look after her, yet he keeps a safe distance between them. When a hit is put out on her life all previous bets are off. He has to protect her and his surveillance cameras aren’t going to cut it. He needs her close.

Can he figure out who’s threatening her life and defuse the situation? Will having her close finally give him the push to tell her how he really feels?

✅ Age Gap
✅ MC
✅ Cinnamon roll hero
✅ Funny in places
✅ Some spiciness
✅ Who’s threatening her life… mystery to solve.

Who starts an MC series by reading the last book? That would be me! But it worked out because I read Decoding Morse and fell in love with the Deads Presidents MC, and now I'm binge-reading the whole series because I want to know the story of every single member.

The club's premise is compelling and captivating. They are an MC founded by veterans to help other former military rejoin society. They are not one percenter and mainly abide by the law, using their former training to solve challenging situations.

Levi "Morse" Cade oversees the Dead Presidents' surveillance. Quirky and nerdy, he is a bit of a recluse. He has always had a thing for Amelia, who was married to the Air Force officer who recruited him. When someone targets her, Morse goes out of his way to protect her.

Amelia Hanse divides her time between being a mother and a local non-profit that delivers food and companionship to military widows. She hasn't seen Levi since her husband died four years ago. Now, Morse is knocking on Amelia's door to move her to the Dead Presidents clubhouse while the thread hagging over her head is neutralized.

Well, the attraction isn't one-sided. But there is an eight-year age gap, a sense of responsibility towards a late husband, and lines society says shouldn't be crossed.

Amelia and Morse's story is mesmerizing. It's an effortless age-gap romance with a swoony hero and a strong heroine—a beautiful and heartfelt second chance.

It’s All About Saving Her

Morse is a little out there and stays to himself somewhat running the Dead Presidents MC surveillance but he sees something pop up that could bring harm to a woman he know. He is on his bike to her right away. Ameila was by herself now so when Morse shows up to be her protector, she knows lines may be crossed even if she is his senior.

I love this whole premise of veterans helping veterans as well as Ameilia’s part in this as well. I love reading about this.

too much jumble to be interesting

The actual story line was great, too much jumbled wording that you lose the main plot, too much of Morse’s life history and hiding from Amelia. I found myself skipping sections so that I didn’t lose the MAIN point of the story. It was obvious who hired the hitman but again too much jumbled wording. It’s almost like to author needed a higher word count and just rambled…. Very disappointed in this book because i love the series.

I am a very happy camper. I freaking love the premise of the Dead Presidents MC series. Can you imagine a bunch of vets that join together in a Motorcycle Club to help each other and recruit other vets in need into their MC. I couldn't but I am forever grateful to Harley Stone for having a very creative mind. I usually reread the series before a new book is released. I didn't this time but that is okay. Now I get to binge the complete series finishing off with Decoding Morse.

Morse has been hiding in his surveilance room, rarely venturing out into the world for way too long. He protects those he cares about by sitting infront of computer screens and surveilance recordings. When he gets an alert on his phone everything changes. Resistance is futile.

He had promised to take care of Amelia before her husband died. Morse owed them everything and would do anything to protect Amelia. When the alert went off nothing else mattered. Get ready for a wild ride as Morse does everything he can to protect Amelia from the hitman. He has his work cut out when Amelia refuses to be locked down.

The question is, can Morse keep his heart locked down. Can he keep it professional? Can he stay away from Ted's widow. When secrets are revealed; I was stunned. When they were both in denial; I was on the edge of my seat rooting for them. When bullets start to fly; I feared the worse. Grab Decoding Morse and get ready for a wild ride and a lovely happily ever after.

💜🌼I LOVE MORSE AND AMELIA💜🌼
Harley Stone is one of my favorite authors...and her Dead President's MC Series is one of my favorite series to reread over and over...and this latest installment, Decoding Morse. doesn't disappoint..💜🌼
I have grown to love Morse over the years...I've always see him as the quiet, nerdy, socially awkward, somewhat unsociable hacker for the club...He pretty much lives in the IT/surveillance room...and all this time he's been quietly "watching over" Amelia, 8 years his senior, and the widowed mother of two...without her knowledge...Even Morse's strong sense of responsibility for Amelia hasn't kept him from falling in love with her....from afar...but when a hit is put on Amelia...everything changes...Morse comes outta the IT room to bring the "off limits" Amelia to the club house for her protection...and no matter how hard they fight it...their close proximity proves this mutual attraction Is more than either of them can deny or stop...💜🌼
Decoding Morse is another good book from Harley Stone..Although all of the books can be read as standalones, I highly recommend the whole DPMC series.. Reading this book just made me wanna read the whole series again...and I think I will...💜🌼

Another fantastic addition to the series. Unlike a lot of MC’s out there, the Dead Presidents MC is made up of ex-soldiers who are in need of a place and a brotherhood to belong to once they are released. These are good men who are dedicated to helping those in need. This is definitely the case with Morse. As a youth he escaped a cult and was given a home by his recruiter Ted and his wife, Amelia. Fast forward, Morse is now out of the service and is the tech guy for the Dead Presidents MC. He takes his job seriously and takes pride in keeping his MC brothers and their families safe. That includes Amelia, Ted’s widow. But he watches her from a distance because of his growing attraction to her. But when Amelia’s life is threatened, Morse hops out from behind the cameras/PC screens and knows he will do whatever it takes to protect her.

This is a fast paced, action packed, age gap storyline that will have you smiling, laughing, worried and rooting for a happy ending. I can’t recommend this book and the series enough.

I adore Morse & Amelia!! They have some major relationship hurdles to gt through, mostly bc Morse has been hiding his feelings for so long that it's a major struggle for him to open up. While his Brothers ty to help him work through that, he also is trying to keep Amelia safe from a hit.

Amelia is just a doll! She has some struggles of her own, as (aside from the hit) she is going through some major life changes. Her BFF, Thia, her friend, Carol, & the ol' ladies help, though. 😁

And as they're working through everything, and getting closer, I love the sparks & friendship that grow. When Morse stops fighting it, & Amelia realizes her power... kaboom! Fireworks. 🎉🎊🔥🌶🔥🌶🎊🎉

I love the pacing, the story, the supporting cast... just everything about this story kept me intrigued and engaged, & made me happy. I love this series lots!!

😍😍😍

The awkward computer guy got his beautiful, sexy woman and he had to go outside his comfort zone to get her. However, he had to open up to her and show her that he was worthy of her and that his quirks were a good thing in the end.

I loved the characters in this series and this book. I loved how the characters have their own things they deal with on a daily basis and Harley Stone was able to write about them and did a great job in doing it.

She was supposed to be unreachable, someone he shouldn't want, but the heart wants what the heart wants and now he has to face her and keep her safe.

I positively loved this book! This was my first book in the Dead President's MC series, but I was not lost at all and I absolutely loved the book, the characters and the story. I can't wait to go back and catch up to this story and the other member's HEA stories.

This is the 12th book in this phenomenal series and this is Levi / Morse and Amelia’s story.
Morse is the tech guy in his MC of ex-military soldiers, while Amelia is a widow, who is running a non-profit organization, while preparing for her youngest to leave for college. When Amelia is in danger, Morse whisks her away to protect and keep her safe.
This is a well written action packed story, with found family, friendships, emotions, secrets, danger, suspense, intrigue, mystery, challenges, forced proximity, reverse age gap, humor, witty banter, combustible chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I think what made this one so fun is that both Morse and Amelia were both so awkward with how they felt about each other. Sure they had a past, one where her dead husband was around. But Morse seems to have always done the right thing in regards to Amelia, once he was aware of his feelings, he stayed away and watched over her and her kids after the husband died, without being in Amelia's life.

The threat against Amelia was so crazy! More so when we found out who was behind things and why. I think a right decision was made by someone who maybe had an inkling of wrongness.

I liked how the club welcomed Amelia with open arms, along with those that she brought with her, even the scaredy beast.

Nice to see how this one ended, everyone happy and life going on.

I really enjoyed this story. The relationship between Amelia and Morse was definitely complicated, but the chemistry was there. Once they got beyond their own roadblocks with the help of friends and brothers, it was hot and strong. Amelia was such a genuine and caring person, putting others before herself, and was a wonderful mother. She had a problem with self-esteem a bit, but Morse was so wonderful in showing her how he truly saw her. He was very protective of Amelia with the threats of death surrounding her. There were moments of tears as well as smiles (due to the humor between the MC brothers). I recommend this story.

I received a copy through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.

I received an ARC for this review.
Harley Stone hit it out of the park yet again. It was a smooth read that hooked you from the start. I absolutely loved Amelia and her bestie. They were hilarious. The connection between Morse and Amelia was hot and undeniable. They both go through many trials of self-doubt that were so real and resonated with the reader. It wasn't all about the lust but the true feelings they each had for the other. It was also nice getting to see Morse from behind his computer and seeing how Amelia pulls him out of his shell. We also get to see a lot of the characters from the MC and really see how the brotherhood supports their fellow brother. Wonderful story!!

Levi (Morse) and Amelia are an interesting reverse age gap couple. Amelia & her husband had taken Levi in as a teenager to help him. Her husband passed away and Morse has always had an attraction to Amelia and has avoided it until he gets an alert that her life is threatened. He’s keeping her safe & fighting the sizzling attraction between them. It takes awhile to finally give in to their desire for each other while on the run from danger.

I loved Mrs. Landry! She’s a hoot! Morgan was a sweet & smart teenager who was very lovable. Thia was a real trip! I love this series and this latest book of Harley’s. A must read!

Morse, the Dead Presidents MC technical Guru, who rarely leaves his IT room, is infatuated with his friend and recruiter’s widow Amelia and secretly watches over her. When he gets an alert that she is in danger, he brings her to the clubhouse for protection until the threat can be eliminated.

Harley has given us another fantastic Dead Presidents MC story. It’s a tense, action packed page turner. There is also some lighter moments with the club brothers, quirky friends and young Trent’s antics.

Dead Presidents MC is a brilliant series, Sage is next and I can’t wait.

I love MC romances for the found family vibes and the protective heroes featured. Here we have Morse who is the hacker in the MC. He rushes to keep Amelia safe when someone puts her on the hit list.

Due to his past, it holds him back from seeking more with Amelia. But resistance is futile as they spend more and more time together in close proximity.

The suspense helped to keep the pace interesting and I enjoyed seeing mama bear Amelia in action, especially her scenes with Morgan. Will Morgan have her own biker romance too? 😊

Reading the final book in the series about the Dead Presidents is a bit on the nose but it was well worth it and I'll now have to go back and read the rest of the series.
Morse has been in Love with Amelia since he was a very young man, but out of respect for her husband and what he did for him he left and and only kept a watchful eye on her and her family.
He usually keeps himself hidden in the dungeon in front of his screens but now Amelia is in danger and he won't trust anyone else to look after her properly.

Great story.

Perfect series

There is a lot of intrigue in this story. I like the MC what it represents and what it stands for. I love the characters. Morse and Amelia are a great fit. I love Trent. The way he approached Amelia the first time he met her was hilarious. I thought you couldn't top that when Carly was telling Amelia why she was upset that Trent used her kitchen scissors and what he cut with them and how they commemorate over motherhood. I couldn't stop laughing through that whole scene.

Must Read! Love this reverse age gap romance. Amelia is a widow to a former service member in her 40s. Morse is a member of The Dead President's MC a cyber guru of sorts. Younder than Amelia by 8 years. He discovers Amelia is in danger and swoops in to take her and her family to safety. He's reluctant at first to admit his feelings, but WOW when he does. Can't spoil it so I'll say it's worth the read!!!

Oh how I've miss this amazing group of Veterans who not only help each other, but their brothers in arms transition as they return home from war. Trent as always is a hoot and Rabbit hasn't lost his touch. Morse is all about protecting those he cares about. Amelia is his recruiters widow and when her life is endanger he's there ready to protect at all cost. It’s a intense, action packed, banter filled, tell it like it is, page turner from beginning to end.

I loved this reverse age gap story. Morse (Levi) seemed like the silent and left alone type. Amelia has raised her kids since her Air Force husband died.b they helped Levi when he was just a kid. Now she's in danger and he'll do anything to protect her. Danger, heat and new beginnings. There were some funny comments in there that cracked me up. HEA.
