So he’s useless, and lazy, but uses his experience of being the worst kind of middle manager to get away with it? This is not a sympathetic character for me. I found him very frustrating and not at all amusing. DNF 50%.

Edit: I feel like I should point out that there are some fun and interesting ideas in here. They have just captured the feeling of working for a guy like this entirely too well. I kept hoping he would learn something, but people like that never do, and so it goes.

When Theo dies, he doesn't want the usual things for his next life. He doesn't want to be a hero, he doesn't want to be royalty... no, he wants to be far away from other people so he can finally rest. And so he ends up becoming a dungeon out in the middle of nowhere.

Naturally, his long awaited rest doesn't go as planned. He keeps being awakened, and the final straw is when a retired hero accidentally dies in his front room. So Theo has to go into hiding before other heroes turn up.

Theo is really annoying, but he grows on you. Seriously, I get why he was so grouchy - he was an overworked, and underappreciated worker from our world, so easy to understand. After a while, I started being entertained by his antics. He's impatient, irritable, and crotchety, but under it all he has a big heart. He still got to be too much at times, but overall, fun.

I have to admit, Spok was a favorite. She really put up with a lot, but got more than she ever expected. Liandra was also amazing. Great cast of characters!

Awesome and hilarious story

All the poor MC wants to do is sleep! And yet, there is work yet to do.

This book is a hilarious story of a poor dungeon who just wants to take a break and be left alone — but keeps stumbling into (unique) trouble. The entire time, we teeter on the edge of absurdity, just far enough from the ledge to make things believable. The pacing of the story ensures that the reader is never bored, the main character is extra relatable, and the world building is subtle yet effective. I eagerly anticipate book 2!

A laugh out loud, rolling good time

Theo, formally human, is a brand new dungeon who just want’s to be left alone to nap in peace. Unfortunately for him, demons, gods, nobles, heroes, minions, and a wanna-be goblin overlord have other ideas. Essentially the Basil Faulty of Dungeons, Theo stumbles from one catastrophe to the next, turning luck, laziness, ignorance and irritability into super powers. Filed with hilarious characters like the silently stoic minion Cmyk, I was hooked from the first chapter. I loved this book and can’t wait to read the next one.

Loved It

This was one of the few books that I was dying to read, and it didn't disappoint. At the being, I hated Theo with a passion and found it funny that he'd call Cmyk lazy when he was a reflection of his Master in that attribute. But as the book went on, I started liking the grumpiness and sarcastic dungeon. The pacing was right on point, and it was truly well written with characters that you could love, hate, like, and laugh at. Im definitely ready for book 2.

Funny and charming

It's a good idea of a dungeon that really has a much different style of management and what it wants to do in its spare time is so off the wall. I don't want to spoil it, but we hated doing it as a child but as an adult we are so happy when we get one. The humor is top notch and the oh wow everything has gone down the drain episodes are hilarious. Can't wait for book 2!

If you can't get away from them, join them

A man gets brought to a new world to become a hero, but all he wants it to be left alone. That does not seem to work, so he went on some adventures with heroes yet still hiding what he is. I love that even though he wanted to be left alone, he still did what was right.

fun…

Uh… guy becomes a dungeon because being a hero was too much work. Hides in a town because he messed up and just reacted. Becomes a hero because he keeps reacting and not thinking, is a broken unbalanced power as dungeons don’t have real restrictions in functionality just in available power.
Good pace. Different story. Good narrator. Enjoy

Kinda hated the MC. He embodied a lot of characteristics that bother me. He did get a little more tolerable as the book went on. He is OP beyond all belief which is fun but creates problems with interesting conflicts. The story was interesting but the MC being a dungeon/house/person was a little confusing. Entertaining read though.

The book was not funny, interesting, or worth the time it took to read.

The main character was highly unlikable, had little to no redeeming qualities and kept getting lucky time and time again.

Lastly the plot of the book made little to no sense and detracted from the lack luster story.

Would not read.

A Fun Unique Take on Dungeons & Heroes!

This is not your typical dungeon core LitRPG. It is not your typical Hero’s Adventure tale either. The main character doesn’t really want to do anything and in his desire to not do anything, he ends up having to do everything!
Rash decisions, mistakes, and luck combined to tell a fun and engaging story!
I look forward to the sequel!

Good story

A fair number of interesting elements. I liked the story progression elements the best. LitRPG elements felt like hand waving. I think there's a lot of good material here. I liked the battles.

Started well, but instead of a dungeon story, it turned into an adventure, so I lost interest.

Not bad, great writing and very funny, just not for me.

On to my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!

Good read

A very interesting story, a different take on the living dungeon. At least one I have not read before. Theo is hard to explain, his actions vary quite a bit. Made for an interesting read.

What I liked from the book was that the MC was basically stuck on a side quest.

All the MC wants is to sleep but the empathy he has keeps him trying a bit. It is a toss up if I will read the second book in November.

Have a goal but don't be stupid about it

Main character is incompetent and unwilling to accept or listen to good advice. His laziness causes problems and he isn't clever or likeable enough to make watching him solve them worthwhile. The write up is better than the book.

This is a fine fantasy adventure novel. It is well written and edited. I especially like the dungeon steward. I anxiously await the sequel.

This was fun

Well written and fast paced. Just a few typos. Turned out to have both a good martial framework and magical framework. Nice epilogue as well

A comedic book has a license to be silly. That doesn't mean you need idiotic characters. Lazy does not mean stupid. Focused does not mean blind.
