Playing the part of a priest on sabbatical, Levi Stockton has been doing recon on the historical artifacts housed in the convent, where Sister Mary Anthony is cloistered. When the nun becomes suspicious and things take a turn, Levi is forced to change tack and return them to Colorado.
Once back on the Bull Rush Ranch, it becomes clear that things are not as black and white where Zephyrine Schaefer is concerned. As Levi and his brothers develop a strategy for recovering the relics the governor stole from their family, Zeph becomes an integral part of the plan.
I don’t want to give too much away because this story was so unexpected and fun to read. With Maggie in her dark era, expect some creative uses for sacred objects and a little bloodshed. You’ll also find white-hot chemistry and a saddle stand scene.
All the Stockton guys have been swoony. Levi has definitively taken over the top spot though. I mean, he wears glasses and makes her a … ahem … spicy playlist. What’s not to love?
Now I’m just hoping like hell that Aspen’s story is up next!!

Be prepared to clutch those pearls because this one will make you sweat like a whore in church... quite literally. When I tell you this nun spends a lot of time on her knees praying to her god in the form of Levi Stockton, I'm not lying to. She's gonna have to go to confessional to repent all of the sins in this book but something tells me she wouldn't want it any other way and that's a benefit to you as a reader because this one will make you also need to go to church to confess the dirty nasty things that happen in this book. AND I LOVED EVERY SINGLE SECOND OF IT.
This whole series has me in a chokehold. I need to start my review there. I have loved every book that Maggie has given us so far but with that being said, I have been patiently waiting like a good girl for my boy Levi. Why you might ask? I absolutely love the techy guy in the group. Call it a geek kink if you will but I knew this man would do me in and boy was I right! This man was everything and more.
The plot of this book was a so original and sucked me in from the beginning. Levi is pretending to be a priest to get information from Zephyrine, who is his enemy's daughter and she is currently at a convent preparing to take her vows as a nun. But "Father Levi" makes Zeph question whether or not she wants to take those vows. Besties! This plot is so good! Levi is perfect, Zeph when she takes control in every way possible 👀 gave me life and their chemistry and tension made me swoon.
Levi truly lived up to my expectations. And I hope he lives up to yours as well! His story was so good. But be prepared to clutch those pearls besties because the whole nun x cowboy fake priest is heavy in this one and may have you questioning your morals in the best possible way.
Maggie, thank you for another amazing story! I love this world you have created and I can not wait to see what you have left for us with Aspen! The easter eggs in this book has me so freaking excited!
You should most definitely read this book if you like: - Dark Western - Cowboy x Nun - Enemy's Daughter - Stalker/Captive - Revenge - Touch Her and Die - Morally Grey MMC
* I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Maggie Rawdon for allowing me the pleasure to read West Bound as an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, opinions and review.
Maggie Rawdon turned the fake priest x nun trope into something bold, addictive, and unexpectedly emotional. The tension was scorching, the chemistry undeniable, and the writing pulled me in from the very first sinful page.
Levi was everything-intense, brilliant, and fiercely loyal beneath all that filth and charm. Zephyrine was his perfect match, torn between faith and freedom, yet strong enough to choose herself. Their connection felt raw and real, equal parts desire and redemption, and I couldn't look away.
Beyond the spice, this story had heart. The action, the emotion, and the growth made it more than just a forbidden romance-it was a story about love that transcends guilt, faith, and fear.
It's proof that even in the holiest places, love will always find a way to sin beautifully.

Many thanks to Maggie Rawdon and The Smuthood for providing this Advanced Reader Copy. All opinions expressed are entirely my own. ✨
This was a solid 3.5 stars for me. Though it is a standalone, I was a little lost on the overarching plot of the relics that were being collected. I also had a little bit of hard time with the pacing. There was an underlying current between Levi and Zephyrine, but the switch flipped pretty quickly. It felt a little like a record scratching- like wait what LOL. I also wish there had been a little more family interaction. There was an indication that Zephyrine and the other wives got close- I wanted to see more of that. With all of that being said, who doesn't love a book of forbidden love. We have a morally gray cowboy with a woman who is going to convert to be a nun. A woman who is having unholy thoughts about said cowboy. A woman who can become a bit of a minx when she is cornered. I liked the layers of Levi and watching them peel a bit. He was so gruff and hard on the outside when really he wanted what his brothers had, but he didn't know how to be himself and get that. With Zephyrine he got that. He was able to be gruff and rough and thoughtful all at the same time. And Zephyrine was able to live out some of her fantasies and feel that she was making up for her families shortfalls with a man who stood by her side no matter her brand of fantasy.
Levi has one goal in mind- find out more about the man who killed his parents. Find his weakness and exploit it. Which is how he has found himself in the character of a priest hearing about how his enemy's daughter has been having dirty thoughts about him. The feeling is mutual. Zephyrine intrigues him. He finds himself wanting to get to know her, but before he can his cover is blown and she hates him. She tries to warn him of what will happen if he takes her home, but Levi can take it. What he can't take is sharing a small cabin with this woman. This woman who he wants badly. This woman who is so different than he thought. This woman who he wished he had met under different circumstances. But they are here and somehow they can't stay away from each other. She is like forbidden fruit. He has gotten a taste and can't stop going for more. But then her past comes crashing in and Levi all but confirms he has feelings for this woman. This woman who is now leading the charge to take down her father. This woman who is still going back to the convent after all of this over. This woman who he will wait for as long as she needs in hopes that she will come back to him.
Zephyrine is on the verge of converting to be a nun. She is close to her vows, but something is holding her back. She can't stop thinking about the new priest. The one with the glasses who make her hot. She doesn't know what to do with these feelings but then she finds out his ruse. He isn't a priest. He is here for her. How can she still be hot for a man who has kidnapped her and taken her back to enemy territory? Who has put her in danger of her terrible husband? The same man who then saves her and lets her have her revenge on said husband. The man who is thoughtful and kind behind his gruff. The man who makes her want more than she has ever wanted. And then she takes. She takes despite the fact that this can't be a forever thing. She has to make up for what her family has done to the world. The convent is that penance. But she can help Levi and his family accomplish what they have been working for for a while now. And then she can go. Or can she? She realizes that he is the love of her life and is now thinking that being with him might give her the freedom she so desperately craves.
I am intrigued enough by the overarching plot here to keep reading. I plan on going back and reading the other couples and of course am beyond excited about Bishop and Aspen (I am assuming they are next). Who doesn't love a second chance, brother's best friend romance?
Thank you to Smuthood and Maggie for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
West Bound by Maggie Rawdon is book 3 in The Quiet Horsemen series. If you know me, you know that I am obsessed with Maggie and this series and I was so excited to read Levi’s story!
🖤Cowboy x nun 🖤St@lker romance 🖤Enemy’s daughter 🖤Forced proximity 🖤Touch her and die
Levi and Zephyrine’s romance is unlike any other that I have read before! We meet Levi, in this book, when he is pretending to be a priest where Zephyrine is a nun. In order to gain information about her and her family. Then things take a turn when he takes her away, and back home to the state where her life fell apart.
Without spoiling too much, this book takes us on so many twists and turns! There are so many players in the game that Levi and his family are trying to conquer. Zephyrine proves to be an asset to them.
Beyond the mysteries of the book, Levi and Zephyrine’s love story is a bumpy ride, but these two are so hot for each other (and for us to read!). I loved them so much. Maggie’s use of religious items and places for their spicy times had my mouth dropping in the best ways.
Zephyrine is a fantastic FMC – I loved how multi-faceted she is, and how she is willing to adjust to situations. She is a bada$$ and the way she brought Levi to his KNEES!
I NEED Aspen’s story ASAP!! I have a feeling that we know who her MMC is going to be and I am so excited!!
MAGGIE RAWDON. GIRL. I AM OBSESSED! This book was so different and I was sucked in IMMEDIATELY. A morally grey cowboy and a nun? Are you kidding me? I AM SOLD.
This entire series is amazing and Maggie will never disappoint me. She can do no wrong in my eyes. Levi Stockton. Man. What can I say, that man is PERFECTION. I love all of the Stockton brothers but Levi. He owns my heart and soul. He’s dangerous and can be cruel but he is also so patient and sweet. The way he cares for his loved ones. Oh, and he is tattooed and wears glasses so you know. I AM DONE FOR.
Levi wants to take down his enemy that tried to kill him and his family. So what does he do? He stalks his daughter, who happens to be a nun. He stays close to her to gain her trust but what happens when Zephyrine suspects him for not being who he says he is. Levi’s plan starts to unravel and he ends up holding her captive in a remote cabin back in Colorado.
I loved the way Levi stands up and protects Zephyrine. He doesn’t care what happens to himself as long as she is okay. Zephyrine. Her character growth in this was everything. She grows a backbone while she is with Levi and stands up for herself when it comes to her father. I love her so much.
This series is just soo AMAZING and I can’t wait to see what Maggie has in store for us with the rest of this series. I already know I am going to continue loving them all. I really loved seeing Charlotte, Rowan & Hudson appear in this series! I have missed them!
Thank you Maggie Rawdon and her team for this eARC and being part of the team.

Levi & Zephyrine!! These two were such a pleasant surprise. Maggie Rawdon can do no wrong 👏🏼
🖤 Cowboy x Nun 🖤 Enemy’s Daughter 🖤 Stalker/Captive 🖤 Revenge 🖤 Touch Her & Die 🖤 Dark Western/Small Town 🖤 Morally Grey & Obsessive MMC
Another incredible Stockton man has entered the chat. These men are my favorite. Witty, grumpy, dirty mouthed, and so down bad for their women. And this one wears glasses too? 🤤
Zephyrine was such a fun surprise. I had no idea what to expect from a nun, but our “good girl” has certainly gone bad and I am so here for it.
The slow burn made total sense for this story, given that they were strangers at the start of this book. Once we got to the spice, LORD HAVE MERCY 🥵. So hot! The audio?? The “blessing”, and the fun with rope. So many unforgettable scenes that will be living rent free in my mind.
I love the underlying plot that Maggie Rawdon is weaving throughout the story, and the little nuggets we get along the way. This series is truly so unique and just an absolute pleasure to read. Can’t recommend it enough.
Also… the teaser for book 4! I’m so ready for Aspen’s story!
Thank you so much to Maggie Rawdon for the arc of West Bound 🖤.
I was chomping at the bit for Levi’s story and Maggie delivered! This story is so unique and different from anything else that I have read. There is just something about those Stockton men… they are just built different & my gosh, they make you SWEAT.
Levi starts the book by impersonating a priest to get close to Zephyrine, the governor’s daughter, who is working her way toward becoming a nun. Zeph is trying to join the convent in order to outrun her past and make up certain wrong doings. Levi comes along and drastically changes that plan for her.
This book has twists and turns and keeps you on your toes. It took me a little while to get completely invested but the last half of the book was intense and made me so excited for what’s to come!
What to Expect: 🖤 Cowboy x Nun 🖤 Enemy’s Daughter 🖤 Stalker/Captive 🖤 Revenge 🖤 Touch Her & Die 🖤 Dark Western/Small Town 🖤 Morally Grey & Obsessive MMC
Thank you so much Maggie for the opportunity to read this as an ARC for my honest opinion and review!
Forgive me Father, for I have sinned... I really - like really REALLY - liked all of the naughty things that Maggie Rawdon has done here. Father Levi... forgive me Father...
"West Bound" is Maggie's third book in The Quiet Horsemen series and this series has been what I've dubbed the "Maggie After Dark" era. And boy, oh boy is she just leaning into it. The underlying story has continued for the past three books about the Governor and the murder of the MMCs's parents - and much more, of course - and this story brings us smack dab in the middle of Levi going to Europe and tracking down the Governor's daughter. On an island. In a monastery. Where she's a nun in training. Are you raising an eyebrow like I did?
So what does he do? Well, what any morally questionable main character does: pretends to be a priest to get closer to her. Book #2 had left us off with this being indicated, that's to say Levi had found her and had eyes on her, and book #3 now picks up exactly where we'd left off in book #2.
But what follows? Giiiiiiiirl. I didn't know where this was going to go! The start of the book starts off slowly - and quietly - because, come on! We're in a monastery after all. Shhhh. Then once circumstances change and we shift locations, the pacing of this book picks up slowly in the middle only for the last quarter (or so) to become really fast-paced. And just... whoa. It was like BOOM BOOM BOOM!!! We have in this book a collision of the bigger underlying storyline that has captured us since the start of this series, mixed in with the two MCs relationship, romance and whatever else you want to call it. The mixture of the two storylines was perfect, just enough of each and they balanced so well.
But we can't even get into the specifics because it's just going to give away little parts of the story that you don't want to be ruined for you. So I'm not even going to talk specifics... you must read and experience it fully for yourself. And if you've been in this series from book 1, omg! You'll be sitting on the edge of your seat as Maggie unveils it all for us.
So now, e-hem, Maggie... sooooo. The next story... like, what's Aspen going to be doing? Is she next? Is her MMC who I think it is?
Levi has intrigued me from the very beginning and this man didn’t disappoint. Zeph was definitely an interesting character. Reading about her journey and the path of life she wanted to take and all the reasons why kept me extremely intrigued.
At times the story did feel like it was dragging and it wasn’t holding my attention as much as I’d hoped, but I did still enjoy this book.
The ending has me so damn excited for the final book and what’s to come!!
This is book 3 in the Quiet Horseman Series. The Stockton men are next level and Levi did not disappoint.
Levi Stockton is a gun slinging cowboy outlaw and a ruthless businessman. He’s also known as a brother, a rancher, a roper, a hacker, a Priest (Father Levi or Fraud-ther Levi), a stalker, a kidnapper, a castrator, and a relic hunter / retriever / thief. He’s multi faceted to say the least.
Levi is tormented by the crimes against his family and seeks to avenge his parent’s death by whatever means necessary. Hence his need to locate and seduce Zephyrine Schaefer..
Zephyrine Schaefer is the daughter of a corrupt Senator and his mistress. She is smart, feisty, sassy, resourceful and downright feral when she’s angry. Do not underestimate her tenacity. Tell her “no” and she says “ hold my rosary beads”.
When Levi first meets Zephyrine, she is an apprenticing nun (not yet taken her vows). She has this overwhelming desire to atone for the sins of her father and find justice for her mother and grandfather. The convent is also her safe haven from her husband whom she was sold off to by her father at the age of nineteen so that he could access the inheritance left to her by her grandfather.
Levi and Zeph start out as formidable opponents that turns to lovers. I love their story. I will not soon forget that scene that starts in the field. They were like a blaze on the page. I will read this book again (and again).
Thank you Maggie Rawdon and The Smuthood for the opportunity to read and review an advanced reader copy. I had preordered the book long before I was notified I had been selected for an ARC. I love this series.
Can’t wait to read Aspen’s book. Based on the nuggets in this book and book 2, it seems Aspen has been keeping a secret from her family and a man she thought was dead (just my interpretation of the information).
I feel like I'm wasting my time forcing myself to continue with this book when I am not enjoying it anymore.
The time at the convent was so entertaining, and I loved it. I was like, "yes! so much better than Bull Rush already," but the farther along the story I read, the more my enthusiasm waned. I cannot even pinpoint when the feeling started.
The whole plot of taking down the governor feels high-stakes, but for something so important, it was put on the back burner majority of the time. There was no real sense of urgency. And the plan they came up with? 🤦🏻♀️
The scene with Corey also felt forced. I have trouble believing that a supposedly crooked man like that would fall into the trap easily. I'm not even going to talk about that whole interrogation scene.
The spice scenes also didn't work for me because they talked too much. 😅 I've probably read something like that before and was fine with it, so I don't know why it bothered me this time.
When I learned about Zeph being a nun, I had the impression that this would have some forbidden vibes, but Zeph acting so far from a nun erased that. I would think that a life-changing commitment like joining a convent would impact her personality and change her views about faith/religion, but we see none of that here. She was there for completely self-serving reasons. I just think it would've felt more forbidden/better if it seemed like Levi was corrupting her faith or making her stray from her path, but that's just my two cents.
I liked Zeph in the beginning, but not so much in the latter part. I liked Levi well enough except for the part where I stopped.
WILL I RECOMMEND THIS? Read it if you feel like this might fit your tastes. All my complaints are solely based on my own preferences and experience.
WILL I REREAD IN THE FUTURE? Like with Bull Rush, I refuse to lose faith in the author's writing, so I might try to pick this book up again at a different time.
~Thank you to The Smuthood PR for giving me an eARC of this book.~
You want pitch black romance that's not only inventive, but also impossible to put down? Hold my beer.
📙 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: The Quiet Horseman series by Maggie Rawdon
📗 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀: E-book ARCs on Kindle. 🆓️ on KU.
📘 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗲: Dark romance
📔 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: Romantic suspense, morally black.
📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: The Quiet Horseman follows three brothers as they find love while also trying to solve the murder of their parents. The books break down as follows: Bull Rush: Ramsay, a pro-football player, gets a second chance with his wife Hazel when he's released from prison and returns home. Dark Horse: Firecracker Dakota finally cracks her long-time enemy and reluctant sentinel, Grant. West Bound: Levi goes undercover to find more about his enemy's daughter, Zephyrine, a nun in training who is on the run from her past.
🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: Maggie Rawdon's writing is magnetic. I literally can't put it down once I pick it up - it's the perfect level of darkness, unhinged level of smuttiness, and just the right amount of romance to bring it all together.
I've been thinking about Bull Rush since I put it down. Dark Horse was age gap gorgeousness. And the latest, West Bound, tied up the main story really well all while nailing the romance between Levi and Zeph.
This series earned that extra .5 in its rating because of the spice. It's just so... illuminating? It's taboo and wild and absolutely unhinged. There's scenes where I was awkwardly giggling to myself, going "oh Maggie!" like we are close friends. Maggie is one of those authors where I am desperate to dig into her backlist, because I know I will love them just as much.
I will say, to me these aren't standalones. You need to read all of them, and in order, to understand the underlying plot. They're worth it, though, so it shouldn't be a hardship.
I am in complete awe of this book. Each book has gotten better and better. I was immediately sucked in to the story.
"I'm just worshipping at the altar, like any good penitent would."
This is now my favorite of the series. Levi was EVERYTHING I could've hoped for and more. I wasn't sure what Zephyrine would be like, but I ended up in love with her. She was so strong headed and she wasn't afraid of who she was. She had been through so much in her life and she was finally putting herself first. But Levi threw her plan in her face and stole her away form the convent. She thought she knew him, but she never could've seen what was coming her way. Father Levi and Cowboy Levi were on complete opposite ends of the spectrum and she felt like she didn't know what was real anymore.
I absolutely adored them. They learned more about each other and themselves throughout the entire book. They had so many soft moments that warmed the heart, but the spice in this book? NEXT LEVEL. Every time I thought it couldn't get spicier, Maggie shocked me. It was amazing. I was blushing and kicking my feet. Levi brought a little 'dirtiness' to Zeph's life, and she brought a little 'holiness' to his. I honestly thought that I needed a confessional after reading this because it was just so hot.
tropes: - morally grey mmc - stalker x captive - enemy's daughter - touch her and d!e - cowboy x nun
thank you maggie and team for the ARC opportunity 🤍
4.5⭐️ | 3.95🌶 I was a little nervous for this one admittedly, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Levi Stockton might just be my favourite. The lengths he went to to keep Zeph safe. It's always the quiet ones with the smutty little glasses. Ready for book 4 but I don't know what I'm gonna do when this series ends. Thank you to Maggie and team for the arc
This is the third book in the series. 4,5 ⭐️ The book is great!!! 🥰 But you need to read the previous two in the series first, no skipping. 😉 I love how Meggie develops the characters and plot of the book!!! 🥰 I can't wait for the next book it's so exciting!!! ❤️❤️❤️ My first ARC book West Bound!!! Thanks so much Maggie Rawdon and The Smoothud!!! What to Expect:
🖤 Cowboy x Nun 🖤 Enemy’s Daughter 🖤 Stalker/Captive 🖤 Revenge 🖤 Touch Her & Die 🖤 Small Town 🖤 Morally Grey
Listen, I’m not going to say that Levi is my new favourite Stockton man.. but I’m not NOT going to say it either. Just something about a man with glasses? I mean, Z would agree with me. I had a feeling.. just an inkling at the end of Dark Horse, and BOY did my man deliver.
Just, read this book. You know you’re going to anyways. You’ve got to. You can’t NOT read about a nun + cowboy. Name one other nun / cowboy book.. I’ll wait. And Maggie really pulled out all the stops with this one. Did someone say anointing oil as lube? 🤣 just saying.
So you’re probably wondering how this all turns out.. how does a nun end up falling for our tatted up bad boy brother? Well, it’s a little complicated. And with a couple twists I didn’t see coming 👀
Levi really is just so sweet and tender underneath it all and he cares so deeply for Z. I really felt his love for her on every page. These two actually talked, like no BS, no hiding, no secrets.. just TALKED. And it was beautiful to see. Any thoughts or feelings that had? She shared them. Explicitly. I ate it up!
One thing Maggie slays every single time? The spice of course. Absolutely on point. No notes. No regrets. Just pure, delicious, filthy, downright SWEATY spice. At all times. Maggie could write a spice scene about anything, and I’d read it. Every time.
I can’t wait to see how this series comes to a conclusion, because although you get a HEA, the plot is still up in the air ! And I’m salivating for it. Give me 10 more Stockton siblings please.
Miss Maggie I was unfamiliar with your game!! Hoooooly lawd have merthy this was way too good and entertaining. Levi and Zephyrine had such a delicious push and pull and we looooove a man that simps for his woman. Zeph is such a spitfire and desperately craves her freedom and Levi was the one to give it to her. The plot was plotting and kept me engaged; the romance and smut? Chef’s kiss.
. . . .
Thank you to The Smuthood for the arc opportunity!
BETA/ARC READ. Welcome back to Purgatory Falls in the third installment of The Quiet Horseman series. Yes, West Bound is a standalone; however, I strongly urge you to read this series in order because there is an overarching plot that needs to be read in its entirety for the best reading experience, IMO.
Zephyrine has resigned herself to life as a nun in a convent for the sins of others. But in her mind it's the right thing to do while also being provided safety. She's cunning + resourceful, both of which come in handy when a new priest shows up at the convent who isn't like all the others. After an unfortunate dip in the lake, Zeph decides she needs to be more proactive about figuring out who Father Levi actually is...
Levi is the quiet, broody Stockton brother who is better with technology than people. He's the one who tracked down their family's enemy, so he's the one who travels across the globe to find out as much as he can about the last missing relic. After his little nun shocks the hell out of him (And me! The gasp I gusped was audible!), his plans change and before he knows it he's on his way back to Colorado with a captive in tow.
Zeph + Levi were so much fun together. Unlike the first two couples in this series with a long history/past, these two are complete strangers when they meet. And although she may be his enemy's daughter and forced to leave her safe haven, they quickly learn there are many layers to each of them and ultimately they both are doing what they think is right for those they love/want to protect.
I had so many more gasps throughout this read. I'm always impressed with Maggie's spice, but there was something extra special or should I say spiritual (!?) with Zeph + Levi. I also connected to Zeph on a personal level. I was putting myself in her shoes and finding that I agreed with her choices as ones I would make myself. And lastly, I have to say I think I enjoyed this read so much because it very much reminded me of a modern day historical romance + those are my JAM!
Tropes: Morally grey Strangers to lovers Cowboy x nun Enemies daughter Stalker x captive Touch her + die
Wow, this was such a delightfully filthy book with an amazing plot! You have a priest and a nun but is that truly what it is? I knew Levi wouldn’t disappoint, especially with those glasses 👀. Then there’s Zeph, spunky, stubborn, and able to hold her own when it comes to him. I’ll admit, she took some growing into for me, but by the end I absolutely loved her.
The storyline was perfection, and the smut? Top tier! I already have my theories on who the next MMC will be since the final book is about the sister, Aspen (the single mom). I can’t wait to get my hands on it, and I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves a mix of spice, depth, and chaos in the best way possible!
Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. It has been 8 months since my last confession. Today I’m here to atone for reading a story about a novice nun, the morally gray cowboy who pretends to be a priest, and the absolutely sacrilegious things they do with an aspergillum…and enjoying every single second of it.
The spice—next level. The world-crafting and seeing how literally everything in this series is tying together—perfection. An FMC who is equal parts angel and devil—a thousand percent yes. Light stalking and obsessed MMC—gimme.
Maggie doesn’t miss for me, and this one is no exception. And let’s be honest, Sister Mary Stephen always knew I wasn’t fully on board at Sunday school anyway.
small town Dark western romance Suspense cowboy x nun
to finally have this book in my hands and have read it! after the last book I NEEDED the answers and finally getting confirmation of a Nun x cowboy book! Maggie never fails to impress me with how outside the box she things with her tropes, characters and story line!
I’ve loved every book I’ve read by Maggie but this series holds a special place for me! I love these characters so much! & the girls friendships in this make it even better!
the spice as always, 🥵🥵🥵. Maggie is the queen of a spicy scene and making my jaw hit the floor every time with how creative she is and the mouth on her men (and women) !
Thank you so much for the eARC! So excited for what is next!
I’ve loved each book in this series more than the previous, and this is no different. Levi and Zeph are perfection. Mild stalking? Yes PLEASE. Anointing oil??? GAH.
I am reallllllyyyyyy hoping Aspen’s book is next 👀
My predictions: Aspen might have kept a big ole fifteen year secret from Bishop 😳 (please tell me I’m right cause I will DIE)
“She might be reciting devotionals, but I’m the devoted one, drowning in my obsession with her.”
ARE YOU READY FOR CONFESSION? You will be after you meet Levi and Zephyrine. Maggie didn’t hold back, and she gave us exactly what we have anxiously awaited. So damn good!!!
Levi is on a mission to get the information he needs, and he thinks his enemy’s daughter (Zephyrine) holds the answers. She lives in a convent, working her way towards being a nun. What Levi didn’t expect was to be attracted to Zephyrine. One incident blew his cover, so the only recourse he had was to kidnap the nun and bring her back to Purgatory Falls. While back on his land, Zephyrine found out why Levi needed her help. She agreed, but at a dangerous cost. One confession leads to others. Their morality is on the line. Can the nun keep her vows?
I loved everything about this book. Maggie kept me on my toes. It definitely was a one-more-chapter type of book for me. Levi and Zephyrine’s connection was forbidden. Raw. And strong. Maggie added the right amount of suspense, and the spice was spicing. This sinful union turned into a beautiful love story.
Tropes: dark western, cowboy, nun, enemy’s daughter, stalker, captive, revenge, small town, morally grey, obsessive MMC, touch her & 💀.
Thank you so much, Maggie, for the arc in exchange for my honest opinion.
It might be my religious trauma talking, but the whole nunnery bullshit really put a damper on the whole story for me.
Zephyrine didn’t seem particularly religious, so while I could understand why she used the convent as the means to escape, it made absolutely no sense for her to want to go back there after she gained her freedom back. I get that she wanted to make up for her family sins and do some good in the world… But in what reality upholding a corrupted and oppressive institution, while spending your days locked up on some picturesque island, picking weeds, is the best way to do so?! Be so for fcking real, girl. Her character arc was out of whack, constantly switching between some badass chick and a timid nun. I actually liked the feisty version of her, but the pointless nun act just made her repulsive as a whole.
I’m excited about Bishop and Aspen, though, so there’s that.
Well, I don’t know if it was just the mood I was in when I read this but I’m sorry for the middle of the road review.
I have been waiting for this forbidden story of Levi and Zephyrine but I just felt like it missed the mark for me. I was really into this for about 20% of the book but then I felt like I was lost or forgot to read a chapter. Trust me , I checked and double read chapters to make sure things were what they were 🤦♀️. It seemed like some mild topics that were previously mentioned in the other books were just skimmed by and the middle was a little rushed. Im going to re-read since I love this series and maybe it will change my rating.
TROPES: 🤠 Kidnapping 🤠 Forced Proximity 🤠 Cowboy X Nun 🤠 Age Gap 🤠 One Bed 🤠 Friends To Enemies To Lovers
If someone told me I’d have a cowboy fake priest X nun with a hidden past on my bingo card for this years tbr, I honestly wouldn’t have believed it, or how it would work. But my gosh did Maggie Rawdon deliver on the all the sinful, dark and deprived goodness that could hatch between the two worlds colliding. All with a glasses wearing MMC and a nun with naughty nun.
“Do you think she wore them for me?” “F*ck you.” “You’re right. She probably wore them hoping she could f*ck me.”
We follow on from the first two books in the The Quiet Horsemen Series, so it’s important to read the first two before diving into Levi and Zephyrines book. And I can hand on heart say that Levi was my favourite brother of the trio.
Kidnapped and captive, Zeph gives us more than we could have expected from a nun who says she wants to just go back to her convent.
“Don’t worry. I won’t let anyone big bad wolf likes to be put on a leash sometimes.”
The spice was hot, heavy and sinfully sacred at times during West Bound. I was expecting a dominant, demanding and possessive MMC who takes what he wants and brings everything that feels wrong and to make it feel right. But what I didn’t expect was such a significant role reversal, where our nun became the one in charge, ordering our MMC to give her what she wanted. We’ve all heard the term save a horse ride a cowboy. But tie a cowboy up like cattle? That’s new right?
“Let me taste what I did earn.” “You didn’t earn it.”
I am obsessed with this couple, the way their relationship develops and the story and plot that evolves as we read on. I also loved a possible little hint to what our next Stockton book could be. And if I’m right? I couldn’t be more excited to read it. I devoured this book and it was everything it needed to be, everything I wanted and everything we all deserved.
