A Horror Bookworm Recommendation
Splatterpunk’s She Dotted Her Eyes edited by Jack Bantry
https://horrorbookwormreviews.com/

- It’s the end of times, a father has strong undisclosed desires towards a certain Night-Of-The-Living-Dead type zombie. His lust is one of the deepest and most closely-guarded secret.

- What happens when you discover the identity of a well-known serial killer. Confronting the truth about the Downtown Dixonville Dismemberer begins now…

- Significant deaths have occurred of recent years. Welcome to Twin Oaks, Texas, a place where a blossoming demonic entity has sprouted its evil. Think of Where The Red Fern Grows meets The Exorcist.

- The theory of…licking a toads back is better than acid and mushrooms combined, is put to the test. Visit a murky, mossy swamp and find out the mind-blowing results.

From the harsh history of Greyholme Asylum to a flyer advertising a most unusual midnight Performance Art Theatre. Ladies and gentlemen, you have been officially committed to Jack Bantry’s anthology, She Dotted Her Eyes.

Inside this sinister sanctuary you will meet author inmates the likes of Bracken MacLeod, Brian Keene, J.F. Gonzalez, Gabino Iglesias, Christine Morgan, PC3, the freakishly twisted Ryan Harding and Jeff Strand who provides the perfect horrific comic relief. She Dotted Her Eyes is a list of who’s who in Splatterpunk today.

Jack Bantry is like Alfred Hitchcock, he has gathered some heavily talented authors for this collection of seventeen previously published stories. It’s everything you would expect from the Master of Macabre…Sir Splatterpunk himself…Jack Bantry.

Reading She Dotted Her Eyes is like waking up naked and tied to a chair. It throws all morals out the window by using shock, desperation, revulsion, suffering, and torture as tools of the extreme trade. Chandler Morrison sets the pace perfectly with the first story, while Janine Pipe provides one of the most gruesome twists I have ever read. I bow down to you Janine.

Nothing I say will really prepare you for this collection of carnage. That being said, I’ll leave you with my favorite quote, “Sometimes, things are just fucked up.” A five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Horror Bookworm Recommendation.

She Dotted Her Eyes is a Splatterpunk Zine anthology collecting extreme horror and splatterpunk stories from previous editions of the zine. The stories range from hardcore depravity to chillingly impactful and were penned by some of the most notable names in horror.

As an avid reader of Splatterpunk Zine since 2020, many of these were familiar, and it’s great to have them together in one volume. Among old favorites: Christine Morgan’s riveting asylum horror story “Like a Hole in the Head” from issue #10, Janine Pipe’s incredibly disturbing “One in the Hand” from issue #11, Patrick C. Harrison III’s brilliant extreme folkhorror story “The Screaming Tree” from issue #12, Ryan Harding’s gut-wrenching occult horror tale “Of the Worm” from issue #13, and Brian Keene’s impactful and chilling “Things Remembered” also from issue #13. Among those I was not familiar with is John Boden’s “Down by the Ocean,” a short but mesmerizing Lovecraftian tale worthy of Lovecraft himself, perhaps better.

But there’s more, a generous 17 fantastic, twisted, and grisly extreme tales in all. It’s a dark and gruesome reading experience. And as if you needed another reason to get it, Splatterpunk’s She Dotted Her Eyes is a charity anthology benefiting Herriot Hospice Homecare, a hospice care charity supporting people affected by terminal illness across the Hambleton and Richmondshire districts of North Yorkshire (more on them at: https://www.herriothh.org.uk/who-we-are/ ). You can feed your love of hardcore stories and do something amazing for people in need at the same time. A highly recommended horror anthology, but extreme horror and splatterpunk fans only, please.

I scored an awesome ARC of Splatterpunk: She Dotted Her Eyes from Jack Bantry . This anthology, which is a collection of seventeen previously published stories from SPLATTERPUNK ZINE is from an astounding plethora of amazing authors:
Brian Keene, Chandler Morrison, James Newman, Gabino Iglesias, J.F. Gonzalez, Jeff Strand, Ryan Harding, Christine Morgan, Patrick C. Harrison III, Tom Over, John Boden, Janine Pipe, Bracken MacLeod, Daniel Eaves, Patrick Lacey, Rayne Havok, Nathan Robinson and Jack Bantry.
There were splatterpunk stories, that's a given, 80s horror, extreme horror, creatures, cults, asylums, psychos, etc. I absolutely loved all of them, but especially favored the opening story by Chandler Morrison for its hard hitting intro into the anthology. Jeff Strand's story was also perfectly placed, with it being an excellent closer to a wicked horro read.
Now, the best overall part of this, is that the proceeds (after Amazon takes their cut) are going to be donated to Herriot Hospice Homecare. A local charity which specialises in end of life treatment for people with cancer and bereavement. If that isn't kick-ass, then I don't know what is.
Go and get it. It's a five out a five read, and supports charity!
