Another consistently strong compendium of essays from The Blizzard, purveyors of the best in longform football journalism for over a decade. Among the highlights of issue fifty-six of The Blizzard are Chris Lepkowski’s harrowing account of the last hours of Jock Stein’s life, as the legendary manager passed away on the touchline of a Wales v. Scotland World Cup qualifier. A further high point of this issue is Sean Cole’s superb piece on the horror tackle that almost ended the career of the Arsenal striker Eduardo. And there are excellent articles on topics as diverse as German fan culture, India’s nascent football scene, football’s relationship with Nationalism, and Red Star Belgrade.
