I didn’t do "nice." Especially not with football players who only saw me as a ticket to the NFL. I had my reasons for being guarded, even if it made me the villain in everyone else's story. But Elias Bennett refused to follow the script. He was the first person who looked at me and didn’t see a stepping stone. I thought I’d successfully pushed him away. But the more we clashed, the more I hated the idea of him walking away.
EliasI came to Austen Ohio for a degree, not to be a pawn in someone’s social game. Darcy Williams was exactly the kind of distraction I didn't need. Beautiful, sharp, and according to a conversation I wasn't meant to hear, she thought I was the biggest loser on the team. I was ready to write her off for good. But then the masks started to slip. Now, I was caught between the girl I overheard and the one standing in front of me, looking at me like I was her savior.
In the game of love, the hardest hits happen off the field.
Pride Offsides is hands down one of my favorite reads of the year so far! I loved Dracy and Elias—they are so sweet together, and I enjoyed watching their relationship develop. The friends-to-enemies-to-lovers dynamic was so well done and felt natural. It wasn’t an instant love story, which made it feel all the more real and satisfying.
One of the things I appreciated most was getting both of their points of view. It helped me understand each of them on a deeper level and made their emotional growth throughout the story even more powerful. They both go through a lot, and seeing how they grow individually and together was incredibly moving.
That said, I do want to mention that the book deals with some heavy topics, so please check the trigger warnings before reading. Kristin Wolf handles them with care, but it's important to be aware going in.
If you love character-driven stories with emotional depth and a slow-burn romance that’s worth the wait, Pride Offsides is one to add to your TBR!
Learning the True Meaning of Love - This is a deeply moving romance story about family, relationships, misunderstandings, overcoming betrayals, emotionally challenging and traumatic encounters, as well as learning to trust again. The characters came from different backgrounds and were drawn to each other, even taking into considering the baggage they were carrying from their past and the lies that caused the friction between them.
Fortunately, their fates were intertwined, so they were able to navigate all the obstacles placed in their paths, so they could find the happiness they both deserved. It may have taken me the entire Saturday to read this book, but I can say without a shadow of doubt, that every minute spent reading this book was worth it. If you are looking for your next vacation treat, then I highly recommend you grab a copy of this book now and you won’t be disappointed.
I received an advanced copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
