Okay, if you liked Reckless from the Chestnut Springs series, you are going to love this.
The surprise baby trope can be SO GOOD if used correctly and this one did!
Mason and Olivia are our MC, they had a ONS and afterwards Olivia disappeared from Mason's life.
Things I liked:
- Mason
- Arianna
- Chloe
Things I didn't like:
- Olivia, she could be a tad annoying and overly insecure at times.
- The plot didn't really seem original, although it was fun, I expected something new.

I loved Mason's love for both of them, it was amazing. Olivia, loved her strength and independence but at times I honestly just didn't like her behaviour.

May 20, 2024Yet again another book that crosses my feed, makes me want to read it, only to realize it's not out yet LOL! Guess I'll have just have to utilize some patience for this one. Seems cute, reviews seem positive, but always hard to tell when only ARC reviews are available. Only time will tell, but looking forward to checking it out when it's available.

A fantastic start to a new series by Cala Riley.
The one thing I love about this writing duo is that they can put their hand to anything and make it amazing. I loved Olivia and Mason and I’m not normally one for secret children books but I really enjoyed Mr Almost.
Mason was so swoony. I love when the hero falls first and the woman makes him work for it. What makes this book a must read for me is the side characters. Cala Riley has a way of making you fall in love with the secondary characters and absolutely loathe the villains!
I can’t wait to read more from this series.

You guys need to get your hands on this book when it comes out June 13th. You won’t regret it I promise.

When I saw the tropes, the only one that worried me was surprise baby. I'm picky when it comes to it because I just want it to be more than a misunderstanding or ghosting for no good reason but I still gave this a go because it's Cala Riley and I trust them. Let me just say they didn't disappoint me in any way especially regarding this trope.
I loved Mason. He was always stuck on Olivia and the way she rocked his world but he never managed to find her and he tried so when he walks into one of his hotel's and find Olivia at the reception desk, he couldn't believe his eyes and his luck too except she didn't want anything to do with him but Mason wanted her because he knows she is the one for him so he tried to figure out why she was acting the way she was. Suffice to say, when he sees why she is like that, he is upset but also amazed because he has a beautiful little girl with the woman that got away.
I swooned the whole damn book from that point forward. Mason did everything including sleeping on the cold floor and not his amazing bed because he wanted to be present for his little girl but also Olivia. I loved how in no moment did he waiver and thought he never wanted to be a dad or have the responsibility. He was all in the moment he learned he had a daughter so his plan now was to convince the mother of his baby that the right thing was for them to be a family because he loved them and not because it would look better for society. He was such a great father and I was a sucker for him. 🤭
Olivia went through a lot being a single mom but she had her BFF, Cloe, to help her every step of the way. She didn't want anything to do with Mason but she still felt towards him the same connection they had that one night so she had to decide what to do about her new situation. I liked that Olivia pushed against Mason but she also gave in when needed. I think the authors did a great job in balancing Olivia's character.
There was a point when Mason was fed up with Olivia distrusting him and his motivations and she realized what she was doing and she apologize and to me that was a great scene showing what I mentioned above.
I loved the friendship between Olivia & Cloe. They are friendship goals.
Mason's group, Max (his brother), Bradley & Eli, was everything. I loved them whenever they were on page but especially when they fell in love with Mason's daughter the moment they saw her and they even had dates with the little girl.
One of the best moments in the story was when Mason took his daughter on a Daddy date so she could learn how men should treat her in the future. It was so damn cute! 🥹
I loved everyone in this story and I honestly can't wait for the next story in this series!

He is a billionaire and owns several businesses including the hotel where he spent the night with Olivia.
4 years later, Olivia gets a new job to work at the reception from Mason’s hotel.
Once they meet he tries to pursue her and can’t understand why she is so mad at him, until one day Olivia has her daughter at the hotel and he sees them and everything puzzles together.
I loved the relationship he immediately develops with his daughter.
I couldn’t stand Olivia sometimes, she was very negative/insecure and it didn’t matter how hard Mason was trying. Also her issues with not wanting to spend any of his money even if it was for their child!

Mason is my new book boyfriend. At first I thought nope he is an asshole and has a lot of grovelling to do to win Olivia over but oh boy did my opinion change. I love Mason and as soon as he saw Arianna he was all in. Mason has me swooning at every turn.

This was such a great second chance romance.
Mason and Olivia have a heated one night together. They don't exchange any numbers since they thought it was only going to be one night. Honestly they both couldn't get that night out of their head, Olivia more when she finds out she's pregnant. She tries to track down Mason and comes face to face with the she-devil (really only best way to describe her).
After that meeting Olivia vowed to give her daughter the life she deserved. All on her own. She succeeded in that and so much more. Years later she finds herself employed at the hotel chain Mason owns. Things get heated between them because Mason has no idea why Olivia is icing him out. Once he finds out why, papa bear mode is fully enforced.
Mason jumped in head first, was all in from the begining and really proved himself not only to Olivia but to their little girl Ari. He was there no questions asked and did anything and everything for his girls. Olivia was such a a strong independent woman. She would do anything for her little girl.
The found family was such a strong support system for Olivia and Ari when they really need it. Ari was always so bright and happy and always put a smile on everyone faces.
Great start to the new series, can't wait for more!! I really loved all the main side characters and I'm hoping I'm right about some possible couple pairings.

‘Mr. Almost’ by Cala Riley was intriguing and well-crafted, though somewhat underwhelming. The origin of the plot was not quite believable/ didn’t make too much sense. The way she got pregnant & what she was told, was really wild. It was kinda a cliche of the genre. The age old ‘I was warned off by family because they thought I was a gold digger’. I was sitting there reading it kind of like, ‘really?’. As the story progressed, it didn’t make too much sense how he was so obsessed from the start, when they only spend one night together, years ago. They both were acting that way. Early-on, before they got together, they both separately said how they felt they shared a connection, and clicked that first night- but nobody ever mentioned love. Then, all of a sudden, it was all reminiscent about how they were in love from the start, and always wanted back in each other’s lives. Truly odd, especially the pin-balling back-and-forth. Additionally, there wasn’t too much going on throughout the book. It was kind of dragging on at times, and it felt like a good chunk didn’t really need to be there. Also, the side characters were very distant. I feel like although we heard about them, and their connections, we never got too much backstory, or page-time with them. I feel like we barely know about each of them, only that they are close with either Mason or Olivia. Anyways, good book, but I just wish it flowed better, and more relevant information was added!

I feel like we barely know about each of them, only that they are close with either Mason or Olivia. Anyways, good book, but I just wish it flowed better, and more relevant information was added!

This was my first book by this author and definitely won’t be my last!

When the MMC mentions being a good book boyfriend while actively being one, Cala Riley knows what they are doing.
I love the way these authors write such amazing characters. When I requested this book, I already knew I’d love it, considering how hooked I was on another series of books by them.
This story follows single mom Olivia, CEO Mason, and their daughter Arianna. They had a whirlwind of a romantic night 4 years ago, resulting in their daughter. When Olivia went to tell Mason, she was met with someone insistent on shutting her down then and trying to again 4 years later. During those years, Mason had no idea what had happened between him and Olivia. She started working at one of his hotels and wouldn’t give him the time of day. Once he saw her again after all that time, he knew she was it for him. When she was trying to sneak out of work with Ari, trying so hard not to run into him, and when she did and he locked eyes on the little girl in her arms, calling him daddy, he jumped in feet first into that role, loving them both incredibly. It oozed off the pages.
I can’t say enough good things about Cala Riley. Just know, if they write it, I’ll be reading it.

I think this was my first from Cala Riley and I definitely enjoyed it, it was a quick, easy read. I thought Ari was a little cutie, and I enjoyed watching the relationship blossom with them, you can feel how much he loves his daughter and that he would do absolutely anything for her. I did find Olivia a little annoying when it came to a few things but other than those little bits, I thought she was awesome, brave and independent as hell.
I think my main issue with the book was that it felt like we got to start the story started half way through and it would have been nice to see more background on the two of them. But its definitely worth a read, and I'm looking forward to book two and seeing more of Eli.

This was a good, easy, quick read.
But it’s not a book i’ll remember forever.
It was too fast paced, there wasn’t much plot, so it got boring. I feel like when the book started, the story was already half way through. We didn’t get to see enough of the past interactions between characters.
The relationship Mason had with Ari was the sweetest thing ever. He would burn down the world for her, that much is clear. However, i feel like their relationship was the main thing in the book. Instead of his relationship with Olivia.

After one amazing date/night things take an unexpected turn but Olivia feels confident that the Mason she spent one night with will step up. Unfortunately she'll never know as his mother sends her packing.

This was a cute and fast paced story. Mason was swoony for sure. I loved both characters at first but then Olivia got on my nerves. She treated Mason like everything was his fault and never thought of his feelings. It was a cute palate cleanse read but very predictable

Look I'm never disappointed when it comes to Cala Riley. And that's not changing today. We are welcomed with "Mr. Almost" which introduces us to a woman who thought all these years that the man that provided her the greatest gift in her life didn't want anything to do with her.
Honestly, I love that it gives more voice to the single moms that do EVERYTHING for their babies, working long hours to provide them a life where they don't have to worry about anything but be happy and be a kid. Olivia fights for her child, but when she gets placed in the hotel that her Mr. Almost owns, she's flooded with the memories of rejection.
BUTTTT Mason has not stopped thinking about the woman that turned his life upside down and wants nothing more than to keep her and love her when he sees her again in his hotel.
This tale shows us that sometimes the strongest people still need help, even if they don't want it. I loved that when Mason knew, he maintained at Olivia's level, and being there and reminding her that he wasn't going anywhere.
I devoured this within hours and I loved every moment of it. Who says that there aren't second chances??

I loved how protective Olivia always was of her daughter no matter what she was such a protective Mama bear. I know the secret child trope isn’t always for everyone but I always seem to love it.
At first I was so pissed at Mason for the whole situation but my heart absolutely broke for him when we found out what exactly happened.
These two had insane chemistry it was so beautiful watching their connection grow and to watch Olivia learn to trust and let Mason in. The way Mason always did everything in his power to do the best by his girls was everything.

Cala Riley have definitely figured out my weakness when it comes to those Syndicate men, but MASON?! My heart never saw him coming! And now, it’s going to keep him hostage. All my boxes are ticked, some more than once. And Olivia?! It was like she could read my thoughts! The mom guilt/anxiety is REAL! And I felt so SEEN reading this! Mason and Olivia’s one night turns into SO much more. Especially four years later when she walks back into that hotel. Mason never gives up trying to win her over. Trying to repair the damage left in his wake. It didn’t matter what was fact, how he felt, he wasn’t backing down! That poor man…my poor heart! Mason becomes the best version of himself. It made me giddy the whole way through. There’s BIG emotions packed into this book! It’s not an easy journey for either of them. Together, as individuals. And there was a lot at stake. WOW! I don't even have words to describe how much I LOVED this book. I was pulled in the second I started reading and couldn't put it down until the very last page. Olivia and Mason's story is phenomenal! The writing was amazing, the characters fabulous and the storyline had me on the edge of my seat. The chemistry between Olivia and Mason was off the charts and the way Mason was with his daughter had me swooning over him. This book really has it all. I really enjoyed Mr. Almost by Cala Riley. This book is the first I have read by her and I was hooked by the first chapter. I love the contemporary accidental pregnancy with a hint of ONS to lovers trope that Cala Riley created. This book's storyline was original, heartbreaking, and page-turning. I absolutely loved all the characters in this book and can't wait to read their stories. The main characters were complex and their romance was filled with drama from a meddling mother, heartbreak, angst, and spice. This book is the first in the Kings of Boston Series. I thought the author did an amazing job introducing the main and side characters she created for this series. I didn't feel like the writing was rushed or thrown together when she was writing this book. The book flowed from chapter to chapter and pulled me in even more as the story progressed. I was a little sad when I got to the end. This series is going to be exciting and spicy.
Olivia is a strong, independent single mother and doing what she loves. She guarded her heart and was very loyal to her daughter and BFF. Mason was intense, the CEO of his family's hotels, and determined to get what he wanted. I loved the journey Olivia and Mason took throughout this book, filled with so much drama from Mason's mother to the antics of Olivia's brash BFF Chloe. I fell in love with Chloe she is an amazing friend and auntie. All the characters had amazing chemistry and I loved the banter between them, I was laughing at their shenanigans throughout this book. Olivia and Mason's chemistry was undeniable and explosive. I loved Olivia's strong will to do everything from her job to raising her daughter without a handout from Mason and Mason's determination to give her everything. This was a beautifully written romance that had me laughing, crying, and fist-pumping a few times while reading this book. 4.5 stars-By Brooke

Sometimes you just want to dive into a book that is light-hearted, has enough of drama to keep up the spice and a secret you can't wait for the lead characters to find out and finally something that has zero conflict in the sense that it is not stretched out and this one was that book that was so beautifully written and filled with Heart-melting times.
Mason is the man. His bond with Little Ari HAS MY HEART.
The first time Olivia and Mason meet we see them have the hottest chemistry as sparks are flying between them right from that first meeting.
But that moment when they come face to face again after a long time was freaking amazing and I was all here, wide-eyed watching the drama unfold.
I have to say that, secret baby is one of my favourite tropes and I just can't resist it.
This book gave it all to me that I look forward to in this trope. The adorable little one and especially the bonding times when Mason meets little Ari absolutely melted me.
Ahh... This one was quite a ride and had its share of drama but the wholesome feel of it is just what I needed to read at the moment.
Although I'll say that at times Olivia did bug me with always wanting to do it my way and her independent streak had me irked a bit.
I'm not saying that one should just take handouts but also it felt like a broken tune with how persistent she was with not letting Mason spend even a little bit on them.
But that said, otherwise she's a wonderful person and a mother and is a hard-working woman for sure.
I respect her for how she takes care of Ari and also is ambitious at the same time as she completes her education while taking care of little Ari.
Mason though, that man was so perfect. It's beautiful to see men like him who are real men because they recognise their responsibilities but also the way he would ease Olivia's fears and take care of little Ari ...Ahh.... Has my heart.
Mason's brother, Max and his friends also have me intrigued especially Max and his equation with Iris and also Brantley and Chloe and the way they always butt heads... I can't wait to see more from this series. Loved loved this one.❤️❤️❤️❤️

Mi piange davvero il cuore dover fare questa recensione e ancor di più aver messo una valutazione così bassa a un libro delle mie adorate Cala Riley
Olivia e Mason quattro anni prima avevano condiviso una notte di passione, ma non c’era solo una connessione fisica impagabile, la connessione mentale e caratteriale che si era creata è una di quelle che succede una volta nella vita. E da quella notte Olivia ne esce con qualcosa in più, una figlia che ad oggi adora con tutta se stessa. Aveva provato a cercare Mason e a dirgli quello che stava succedendo, ma forze di causa maggiore si sono messe in mezzo e Olivia è arrivata a odiare l’uomo che le ha dato l’unica cosa bella della vita. I due si stanno per rincontrare, riuscirà Olivia a mantenere quel poco di dignità che quattro anni prima le era stata strappata via?
Volevo farmi piacere questo libro, le premesse c’erano tutte, tra cui ovviamente la scrittura di questo duo di scrittrici che amo, ma stavolta hanno fatto un buco nell’acqua a mio parere.
La storia è strutturata malissimo, noiosa e troppo inverosimile. E’ vero che la maggior parte delle volte nei billionaire romance la storia è impossibile che sia relatable per la maggior parte di noi comuni mortali, ma qui rasentiamo davvero il ridicolo. Oltretutto è praticamente un insta love mascherato da tutt’altro.
Io davvero non voglio essere cattiva, ma con questo libro è impossibile non esserlo.
Mason appena vede la bambina la prima volta ne è subito innamorato e nemmeno un secondo mette in dubbio che sia sua, il che ci sta anche, ma essere un minimo spiazzato dalla notizia è normale. Lui la sente sua fin dal primo sguardo… in che mondo?
Lui letteralmente al 22% era già innamorato di Olivia e voleva passare il resto della vita con lei. Ripeto, ci può anche stare, ma allora andava raccontato meglio. Avrei preferito più profondità.
La protagonista è una contraddizione continua: un capitolo dice che si fida di lui come padre, il capitolo dopo non si fida a lasciargli la bambina da solo… ma lei è anche la meno ridicola di tutti.
Boh avrei talmente cose da dire ma rischio di spoilerare troppo nel caso qualcuno volesse leggerlo. Ripeto sempre che quello che non è per me può essere il libro della vita per qualcun altro, quindi non sconsiglio mai i libri, però sappiate che se tenete alla mia opinione questo è
