This book... if I had to describe it in one word, I would use the word FRUSTRATING. These characters are young, immature at times, and completely frustrated me. Still, I loved the story and couldn't stop reading!
Ace is the youngest of five girls. She's had a crush on her next door neighbor, Max for the longest time and now that it's the summer after her first year of college, they're both grown up and back home. The only problem, Ace has a boyfriend. That is just one of the many obstacles that keeps these two apart. Their journey isn't easy. It's rough. I don't understand it all, but I'm hoping with time I will. The times I loved Max, I loved Max hard, but there were a lot of moments I hated him too . I was very conflicted with how I felt. He could be a real ass at times, but other times he was the sweetest.
My favorite thing about this book was Ace and her family. I loved her relationship with her parents, sisters, and brother in law. Max's friend Jameson was also amazing. He was so funny and lovable and I hope we get more of him in the next book!
I listened to this on audio and it kept my attention completely. It stressed me out to the max and I was so frustrated with so many things, but boy did it captivate me. I am so anxious to listen to the next book I went ahead and pre-ordered it on audio. I'm so glad it comes out next week, because I'm not sure how long I can wait to find out what happens. I'm just hoping the next book won't get me so worked up and will end on a less angsty note. One things for certain, this couple needs to get their shit together!

This is the authors first book and I am trying to help get her name out to the masses.
Sure I say. I love a good book recommendation... and I read the books blind. I don't look at reviews. I don't read blubs. I just opened the lovely little book up on my kindle.

Ace returns home from college to spend the summer with her family. A family that is a little over the top, crazy and filled with so much love that you can fill it spill off the pages. The youngest of the Bosse sisters, Ace find herself in the middle or a romance that starts off as friendship that she never expected.
Max took off for Alaska for reasons that he never really shared, returning to the home that sits next door to the Bosse family, he finds himself drawn to Ace. The girl he watched for years but never approached. The same one he had no clue had a crush on him for years.
As these two spend the summer growing closer, their friendship slowly morphs into something deeper. But one misunderstanding after another forces one to run more times than stick it out. Both feeling a love so deep, but both so young. The challenge of holding on when loving the right person is the scariest thing in the world might prove to be too much for one girl to face.
This story starts off a little slow, but once it gets going I just couldn’t put it down. I was worried about the number of characters that were tossed into the mix early on. Worried I wouldn’t keep them all straight... worried that too much of the story would be focused on the cast of characters vs. Ace and Max. But these characters became just as much of part of the story. I fell in love with this family.
As the story progresses, it becomes clear that this isn’t just a love story but a journey of one young girl. Ace has a lot to learn about life and love. Max stumbles into her life and turns it upside down in the most delicious way, but at the same time, this brings all of her insecurities and fears to the surface.
As much as I loved every character in this book, there was one downside for me. It took a bit of time away from connecting solely with Ace. This lessened a bit of the impact of parts of the story. And I really tried to give her the full benefit of the doubt, given her age... but there were times when I wanted to shake her a bit. And although those feelings surfaced, I still really liked her. I felt sympathetic to her character even in the moments I wanted to throttle her. Max was easy to love. He wore his heart on his sleeve. No part of him was hard to read. I loved that about him. I loved that we still get a slightly damaged boy, but one that isn’t hiding behind walls.
The second book of this trilogy comes out in just about a month and the first thought I had after finishing book one was that I needed book two. The minor cliff at the end of this and the title of book two has me very scared, but that angst and tension is going to fuel the second part of this series and I can’t wait for it!

This book was just wonderful!
A great story between neighbors and how they fall for each other.
Two great families that come together! I wish I lived in their neighborhood!
Not only did I love this book but I love this author! I can't wait to continue on Max and Ace's journey through the rest of this series and anything that comes after from Mariah! She is a class act!

Max moved in next door to Ace (female) when he was little but he never really got to know her, still, there was something there but basically he ignored it and her.
After high school graduation, he went off to Alaska and when he comes back home, he's definitely ready to make something work. The problem is she has a boyfriend.
They slowly get to know each other but things take a while and Ace is a runner so that causes some drama.
Unfortunately, that drama is nothing like the end. I was totally shocked at what happened and extremely disheartened. I really hate when "that" happens.
Another series I plucked from the angsty pile and this is my first time reading this author. I would have to say overall I enjoyed the book, however, it is really wordy. Also, there were these scenes that had a lot of page time that ended up being...nothing, just like a regular day in real life. It was a bit frustrating to figure out what events had meaning and what didn't.
The ending is left opened as the story continues with the next book, this time with Max's POV. I'm looking forward to what happens next even with my frustrations.

Be aware the series becomes a mess
I’ll be honest I liked this book. Then I read the second and third book where it becomes obvious that the H is a selfish jerk who only wants the h when she revolves everything around him. When she experiences fear he dumps her for having doubts. When she experiences tragedy he moves on with the nearest brain dead slut he can find, not only sleeping with her but dating her for months. She has experienced so much but because his dad walked out when he was a kid, the author acts as if he has a free pass to believe the world revolves around him. The author didn’t even give him any redeeming qualities. He never even goes after or put forth any effort. He just graciously accepts her back after she comes back. Of course the author had the girl remain pure and virginal (even refusing to let her move on with a guy so much better for her than Max) while guy was screwing with the airhead. What is the author saying when she couldn’t sleep with someone else because she loves him, but he didn’t feel the same way. Why even have them end up together? It’s a major disappointment and I wish that I hadn’t wasted my time with this author at all.

3.5-4 stars!! I love this family, such a great dynamic and I loved the relationship between the parents and the girls. This is the first book in a trilogy and March 1st cannot come soon enough for me. I want to know how this story pans out. I loved Ace, she is 19 and still has her V Card, but is a serial dater. She has had a crush on her next door neighbour forever and finally, they become friends and eventually more. I loved Max too and I do believe that these two were meant for each other and are soul mates. However, Ace's Dad sums it up beautifully:-
I loved their Dad, he was such a great sounding board for whomever needed some advice.
I will say I did find that some areas of the book were a bit padded and so the flow of the book was affected, but on the whole a fab story that I really enjoyed. (full review to come)

"Although I'm a good fifty feet from him, I swear I can see the piercing clarity of his deep blue eyes that are such a beautiful and rare color, I'm sure Crayola would be inspired to replicate the hue."
I started this book at 10:30pm and became so entranced with the story and characters I stayed up reading until 6:30am...slept 5 hrs and was back at it again. I can't even put into words the depth and layers this story has let a lone try to do this book justice with my review. The story gripped me and had me feeling every emotion I can think of but the characters were so freaking fun and relatable. All the elements of life: love family, friends, music, laughter, pain, hope, loyalty, choices, and taking risks-it has it all and so much more.
"Good music is like poetry. The lyrics are more than just words, they're a story of emotions."
The build up and anticipation was perfectly paced and Max and Ace will have you wrapped aroung their finger as well as their hearts as you watch these to stumble and fall and then crawl as they try to figure out this thing called love.
"He pulls back and stares into my eyes as his breathing comes out in gasps. His eyes silently search mine in confirmation and I understand exactly what he means. I haven't slept with other guys, but I've dated more than I'd like to admit, so I know what I feel with Max is different; the tingles, the racing hearts, the haggard breathing, we're like active live wires that when we connect-ignite."
Their connection and pull had the words weeping and bleeding emotions on the pages. I love Max but I connected with Ace on such a deeper level. She's strong and fragile but it doesn't make her weak. If anything it makes her stronger and makes her more real. Kendall and Jameson were a riot and such a perfect addition to the storyline. I could not put this book down I challenge you to read this book and not be swept away by this authors amazing talent to not just write a story but to tell it and breathe life into it as her words tickle all your senses. I cannot wait to read more of her and I am insanely craving to read losing her.

3.5 stars it was highly recommended by a few book buddies, I liked the banter and relationship between the family members, but what Ace did to Max again the last time it was too much. I was extremely pleased with how Max reacted to her. Enough is enough. I found what her mom did was appalling, how can you move on to someone else when the man you were married to for over 30+ years moves on to another in one month's time?! I was very angry at the end of this book.

~~5 HEARTS~~
WOW! I am so glad I stumbled across this book. I was browsing on my kindle and I came across a book that looked interesting and would enjoy reading. When the carousel of suggested books came up I saw this book and instantly liked the cover and then when I read the blurb I decided to download a sample of the book. I am so glad that I did. This was a diamond in the rough. I loved everything about this book.

Ace is the youngest of five sisters in a close knit, boisterous family. Max is the next door neighbor who just returned home from a couple years in Alaska. They start as friends and their relationship grows slowly. Very. Slowly.
Oh, holy Hell these two were frustrating! I might have permanent heart damage from the amount of time I spent holding my breath waiting for someone to make a move. Stolen moments and lingering touches; my entire body was on high alert for Max and Ace to realize that it was them all along.
Ace is an interesting mix of completely lovable and infuriating. She has a heart as big as the world, but makes inexplicably dumb decisions sometimes. Max is – well, Max is wonderful. He makes some dumb decisions of his own, but he balances them out by being protective and fierce and willing to hang the moon for Ace. When these two finally get together, it’s beautiful. As a young couple, nothing is perfect and they take turns hurting and healing each other, but there’s an underlying love that is both intense and tender.
This book was a roller coaster ride. Ace – for all her wonderful qualities, is incredibly frustrating. She’s young and in a constant state of insecurity. When her world is rocked, she completely shuts down and loses everything. I was torn between being heartbroken for Ace and just so mad at her for continually making decisions that hurt Max, and hurt herself.
The book ends on a cliffhanger, there’s no happy ending here, just enough of a tease to make you want to tear into the second book. ~ Shelly, 4 stars

I really struggled with how to rate this book. It was well written. I found it easy to lose myself in the story, and in the characters lives. It reminded me of listening to the gossip from the teenagers I work with. An adult, getting to hear about the drama and angst of youth without having to re-live a second of it. I felt as if I would have enjoyed this a little more if I were younger, or if I had been one of those angst-filled teens myself.
I had a difficult time personally relating to the characters occasionally, or even wanting to. I was a teen once, and that was plenty. This is no fault of the authors nor is it a reflection on the book itself, which was surprisingly good despite this. If I have to fault it, it is because there were too many secondary characters to keep up with; I definitely needed an index. And it seemed a little overly drawn out in places, dragging on through less vital scenes.
However, I read it through, wanting to know what happened, and felt quite invested in the characters by the time it ended. It follows Ace, the youngest of five sisters. Here's where we get so many of those secondary characters. Five sisters, all with men, some with kids, then we meet a whole cast of friends. By halfway through I was able to mostly keep them straight, but I still recommend an index.
Their interactions as a family were kind of perfect. I loved reading about the family. The main story here, however, is Ace's relationship with her gorgeous, tattooed, motorcycle riding neighbor, Max. He's a bit of a mystery to her, having never seemed to pay attention to her in high school, then leaving after graduation for a couple years. Their relationship was, in some ways, real and beautiful to watch develop. If only Ace would get herself together. She refuses to believe he could be interested in her, and she hides from him behind a dysfunctional one-sided relationship for far too long.
Once they find their way to each other, they have a love that makes you feel all sweet and sappy inside. The kind of love that made me reminisce about being a teenager, back when you couldn't keep your hands to yourself and making out for hours was the best thing ever. Then, it gets all full of angst and drama, and I spent the second half of the book yelling at Ace to grow up and get over it. I also sympathized with her then, as it reminded me in a painful way of some of the heartbroken tantrums I threw as an insecure teen. Ouch.
Bottom line, I liked this book. I didn't love it, but I did like it. Drama aside, it's worth the read for the wonderful family interactions and the sweet, young, I-can't-wait-to-make-out-with-you love. I did, however, love the second book. And since you really must read this book before reading the second one, I highly recommend this one as a stepping stone to book two. ~ George, 3 stars

He makes some dumb decisions of his own, but he balances them out by being protective and fierce and willing to hang the moon for Ace. When these two finally get together, it’s beautiful. As a young couple, nothing is perfect and they take turns hurting and healing each other, but there’s an underlying love that is both intense and tender.
This book was a roller coaster ride. Ace – for all her wonderful qualities, is incredibly frustrating. She’s young and in a constant state of insecurity. When her world is rocked, she completely shuts down and loses everything. I was torn between being heartbroken for Ace and just so mad at her for continually making decisions that hurt Max, and hurt herself.
The book ends on a cliffhanger, there’s no happy ending here, just enough of a tease to make you want to tear into the second book. ~ Shelly, 4 stars

I really struggled with how to rate this book. It was well written. I found it easy to lose myself in the story, and in the characters lives. It reminded me of listening to the gossip from the teenagers I work with. An adult, getting to hear about the drama and angst of youth without having to re-live a second of it. I felt as if I would have enjoyed this a little more if I were younger, or if I had been one of those angst-filled teens myself.
I had a difficult time personally relating to the characters occasionally, or even wanting to. I was a teen once, and that was plenty. This is no fault of the authors nor is it a reflection on the book itself, which was surprisingly good despite this. If I have to fault it, it is because there were too many secondary characters to keep up with; I definitely needed an index. And it seemed a little overly drawn out in places, dragging on through less vital scenes.
However, I read it through, wanting to know what happened, and felt quite invested in the characters by the time it ended. It follows Ace, the youngest of five sisters. Here's where we get so many of those secondary characters. Five sisters, all with men, some with kids, then we meet a whole cast of friends. By halfway through I was able to mostly keep them straight, but I still recommend an index.
Their interactions as a family were kind of perfect. I loved reading about the family. The main story here, however, is Ace's relationship with her gorgeous, tattooed, motorcycle riding neighbor, Max. He's a bit of a mystery to her, having never seemed to pay attention to her in high school, then leaving after graduation for a couple years. Their relationship was, in some ways, real and beautiful to watch develop. If only Ace would get herself together. She refuses to believe he could be interested in her, and she hides from him behind a dysfunctional one-sided relationship for far too long.
Once they find their way to each other, they have a love that makes you feel all sweet and sappy inside. The kind of love that made me reminisce about being a teenager, back when you couldn't keep your hands to yourself and making out for hours was the best thing ever. Then, it gets all full of angst and drama, and I spent the second half of the book yelling at Ace to grow up and get over it. I also sympathized with her then, as it reminded me in a painful way of some of the heartbroken tantrums I threw as an insecure teen. Ouch.
Bottom line, I liked this book. I didn't love it, but I did like it. Drama aside, it's worth the read for the wonderful family interactions and the sweet, young, I-can't-wait-to-make-out-with-you love. I did, however, love the second book. And since you really must read this book before reading the second one, I highly recommend this one as a stepping stone to book two. ~ George, 3 stars

While there were many things vs I really enjoyed about this book, there were equally as many that just did not keep me totally engaged in the book. It started off strong for me then fell a little flat for me.
I loved the family dynamic of Aces family, and their relationships were solid. Several times I did have to try and remember who each of the supporting characters were. The book starts out describing everyone but some were not discussed again until much later in the book so their names and relations were hard to remember since this book does contain a lot of characters.
This is not a typical love story, there are some twists and turns which I did enjoy. I just felt a little lost through much of the book.
As stated there is a cliffhanger as this is part one of three.
Overall this was a decent read from a debut author.

Too young for me and the beginning throws so many characters in the mix my head was spinning! It took me a while to work out who was who and I skimmed through, loosing interest with it rather quickly.
I know other readers have loved it so maybe it's just not my cup of tea!??

This entire series enthralled me. I loved both Max and Ace, but most of all, I loved them together. They had a beautiful relationship and I truly enjoyed watching their connection grow. These books made my heart ache in the most delicious way. I highly recommend these books!

This is my first book by Mariah Dietz and won't be my last. What a beautiful, detailed writer she is when telling her story. Along with the two main characters, the rest of the family fits in perfectly and you are just as concerned with what's going in their lives as well.
Ace Bosse is the youngest of four girls. She's home from school for the summer and plans on just hanging out, oh and hopefully breaking up with her awful boyfriend Eric. Ace doesn't love him, merely keeps him around because he's easy. Meaning he doesn't think they need to be joined at the hip and she's perfectly fine with that. Ace's sister Kendall calls her a "serial dater" because she never really seems to stay with one guy too long. Nothing serious is Ace's motto at the moment, until Max Miller from next door is home for the summer too.
Max and his friends Jameson and Landon are all home from Alaska for the summer. He's lived next door to the Bosse girls for ten years, however never really got to know any of them. This summer it's the Baby Bosse that catches his eye. Max's mother works with Ace's father as well as living next door, so this leads to lots of dinners and bbq's together which eventually throw Max and Ace closer.
Once the strings of their pasts are gone, Max and Ace decide to give this relationship thing a shot. She knows it won't be easy with a player like Max Miller, however she's admired him from afar for ten years and owes herself this chance. Max is ready for a girl like Ace, to finally have something meaningful.
"I'm telling you Harper Bosse, that I want to learn everything about you, and I want us to be able to have a strong enough relationship that when I piss you off..because that will happen on occasion and when it does, you and I have something stronger than sex that will help us get through it."

And boy does he piss her off. Often. Really, I think Ace (Harper) is a bit too immature for a worldly traveler like Max. Any little scuff they get into sends her running and you can just see that a guy like him, who is putting everything on the line, isn't going to put up with that kind of crap for long. That was probably the most irritating thing about this book, Ace's maturity level and the games she played with Max. So they go through what most normal relationships go through, except for the wrenches Ace purposely throws in.
We get lots of advice and problems from the other sisters and friends which keeps the story moving forward at a fast pace. The book is very well written and like I said, chock full of detail. It's a little long for my usual liking, but boy that ending makes up for it. These families and friends are getting very intertwined and I can't wait to dive into book two.

Whoa. Hello new favorite author of mine. I’ve had several people recommend this series to me. As a reader I look for books to make me think. To allow me to feel and lose myself within the pages. Becoming His was this and so much more.
Harper (Ace) Bosse loves her home and the people in it. She has a huge family. And we get to meet them. All of them. She is the youngest but plays such a huge role. She keeps them together. She’s smart beyond reason. But if there is one thing Ace isn’t so smart about, it’s her love life. She goes through boys like it’s nothing. No. Not like that. Not sure what she is looking for, she easily gets bored and moves on. She’s never given her body or heart to another man. She’s never had the desire to. Until Max Miller. Max returns from Alaska after looking for something he realized he already had. Upon his return, his neighbor of many years, Ace catches his attention. His thoughts reside with her at all times. But she is not his to have. Until something shifts. And they are never the same.
“Love is an emotion that until spoken, I hadn’t realized the immense power that it holds.”
Becoming His is a slow build. Slow burn. Nothing is rushed. Max and Ace slowly fall for each other. But their journey to love is not the usual cookie cutter romance story. It’s so much more and truly the reason why I enjoyed it so much. Max is afraid of abandonment due to his past. And Ace still struggles to find herself. But the two find solace in each other. They find home. But how do you know this is the person for you? Their hearts speak it. Their hearts feel it. YOU feel it. What happens when you don’t listen to your heart?
“You make me believe in soulmates.”
I was easily captivated not only by this story, Max, and Ace, but also the rest of the characters. There are a lot of them. However, I will say that the author is brilliant in her character building. Her characters add such depth to the overall story. I found it hard to put down. I cried, I laughed. Talk about feels and emotion! I didn’t know what to expect from this story, but it was everything my heart needed. THIS is a romance story. Slow and steady, their story attests to the power in love and all that it can overcome. But like any love story...love isn’t easy.

I am pretty sure Max and Ace stole my heart. Their love heals. It overcomes. Their love is everything. It is deep. Passionate. And you are fully immersed in their story. I am so lucky that all three books are already out. I am not sure if my heart could’ve taken the wait. That ending? TEARS. Becoming His was an amazing, emotional, heartfelt journey and I look forward to what is in store for this group.

A story that slowly crept into my heart to stay forever 5 stars
OMG! I am berating myself for not reading this one. Mariah thank you for the story. The Bosse family and all the characters have a special place in my heart. Okay now on to the story. This is about Ace who is back home from college. Her family is crazy, sweet and consists of her 4 older sister and her loveable yet sage parents. While she's home she finds herself in a middle of a beautiful romance with Max. Sigh! Max, oh boy, he’s seems like a bad boy with tattoos and riding a bike but he’s soo far from it that it’s not even funny. Ace never expected to get close to the boy from next door and yet she cannot fight this feeling she gets for him.
Max was back from home after his lengthy stay in Alaska. He’s known about Ace, she lived next door after all but he’s never had the chance to get to know her or be close to her. The feelings that assails him when he’s with Ace is something that he cannot fight or explain. Over the span of the summer, their relationship grows as each get to know the real Ace and Max, and their friendship blossoms into something more. But Ace being who is she is, and Max for the guy he is, their relationship is chock full of misunderstanding and it becomes a challenge to be together.
Max teachers her to let go and have crazy experiences but he doesn't lead her astray.
Sigh. Ace isn't sure about a lot of things, she's unclear what major she wants to pick and the same goes with dating. Although she is slowly getting closer to Max and wants something with him, she still doubts herself, she is totally unprepared for her feelings for Max.
I was warned that the story will start off slowly but there’s a reason for that and I loved every minute of it. This was a beautiful story about finding oneself. Although the journey doesn’t end here and I have to read book 2 and 3 to get my ending. I am still happy to have meet the Bosse family and their friends. This book was sweet, heart-wrenching, funny and most of all it held my heart in its grip.

When Mariah reached out to the blog and asked if we could read her book, I first said yes based only on the cover (which I LOVE). Yes, I judged a book by its cover.
I love a healthy dose of angst in a novel... love it! To me, it's all about the build up and all the little things that make you feel the butterflies and hold your breath. All the little touches and words said in moments of pure honesty, when your heart knows what it wants and slowly starts moving towards it. An author who can get your heart racing with just the hint of fingers touching and sideways glances, truly has a gift.
I felt like this novel just flowed. Nothing was forced and it was all built on real emotions. The feelings I got while reading this are just in a class all their own. People try to duplicate in words those feelings and all the intricate nuances that one goes through as they really fall for that one special person. Mariah Dietz not only succeeded, but she hit a grand slam with this one. I couldn't put this down once I started. It gave me 'the feels' in such a crazy way, that I didn't want to lose that by stopping to do things like eat or sleep (lol). You know that feeling of wrapping yourself up in bed, in sheets that are fresh from the dryer? THAT feeling!! That is this book.
I cannot wait for book 2.

Wow! Where to even start?! There is so much I enjoyed about this book. The writing style was executed flawlessly, the characters were real and I was able to feel their emotions, and the story line kept my interest the entire time. I love the build up that we got to see between the two main characters, Ace and Max. Their relationship started out as friends, and they slowly became more as they developed feelings for each other. I love when an author is able to pull off that realistic tension and build up! It's one of my favorite parts to enjoy and feel in a book. How can I explain the dynamics of this book without giving spoilers away. Well I was given an ARC by the author and she said it would take me a week to finish nahhhh not me a day with interruptions. I found myself wanting to be apart of this family the love and support that they give is just beautiful. Bring in Max who to me would make anyone melt. These two main characters though struggle with a lot of things at some points of the book you are screaming yes yes yes then why please don't. But honestly this is Mariah Dietz debut as an author she has done a phenomenal job. I am so excited for the next book I can't wait to continue this journey. I feel invested now and I am very loyal when it comes to characters that I fall in love with. I wanted to hold this girl at the end and let her know I was there for her. So get ready for laughs an awesome family and heartbreaking struggles. This author is going to be very successful. Thank you Mariah for letting me review.

Omg I loved this book and I want more!!

When I started this book it was so different from her other book The Weight of Rain that I wasn't prepared for the level of emotional angst that I experienced reading this book. Ace Bosse is the youngest of 5 sisters and she has had a crush on her neighbor Max Miller for years but when he returns after being gone for 3 years in Alaska they finally become friends and gradually a deeper relationship evolves . This is the first of 3 in this series and I wasn't prepared for the cliffhanger ending that guaranteed I would have to read the 2nd book immediately. I love her writing style and this is a great read.

This book is a hidden gem! I was so entranced with Ms. Dietz's writing that I couldn't put it down. Beautiful writing and the story flowed so flawlessly that I never wanted it to end. This is a story of growing, trusting, finding yourself and learning how to love not only someone else but also yourself. I loved the characters in this story and I can't wait for Losing Her! Highly recommend!

Wow! That was my thought when I was reading. Mariah is a New Author, but you wouldn’t know based on her writing. When I finally finished, it took me DAYS to process all of my emotions. I couldn’t get the characters out of my head.
Ace, 19, is smart and driven, yet slightly indecisive. She is the youngest Bosse girl. She’s cautious, loving but has an unrealistic fear of failure and loss. The Bosses’ are open and honest and know how to have fun. Ace is especially close to her father, he knows how to communicate with her in a way no one else can. Ace’s fear keeps her from truly embracing life. She has watched Max for as long as she can remember. What you see isn’t always what you get.
Something about him has always intrigued me. He always remained slightly distant, looking at everyone with an edge of suspicion.-Ace
I’m officially head over heels for this guy just because he ordered the most perfect ice cream dish ever. –Ace
Max, 22, is a player by necessity and beautiful (as Ace would say), leaving home for Alaska at 18. When he returns home three years later, he runs into, neighbor girl Ace (Harper) Bosse. He doesn’t know what to make of her, she’s captivated him. She’s not like girls he usually associates with. Max struggles with his own issues, even though he hides it well. Will he trust that Ace truly wants to be with him?

“For what?” I ask. “For giving me that piece of you.” The words wrap around my brain, replaying over and over before I can stop them, and I have to focus to hear him continue. “I want every piece of you.” My heart stops.
“You’re so much more than she is. Everything about you is what I want. Your brilliance, your sense of humor, your heart, the fact that you can’t stay awake through an entire movie... all of it is what makes me love you more every single day. Converse shoes and all, it’s you that I want. It will always be you. I can’t go back, not mow.”-Max
What I love is how strong all the characters are. You’ll find that you are drawn to the supporting characters, just as much as Ace and Max. Mariah will bring back all the feeling of your own youth, the emotions that you experienced with your first love/heart break. Whether it’s angst, love, confusion, self doubt, fear or just being crazy, your heart is going to feel it.
One thing that I would say was confusing, was the beginning of the book when we first meet the family. I have to imagine that’s what it’s like when you first meet a large family. That confusion only lasts a chapter or two, until you learn the family dynamics. That being said, the family dynamics contribute to making this book great.

The Bosses’ are open and honest and know how to have fun. Ace is especially close to her father, he knows how to communicate with her in a way no one else can. Ace’s fear keeps her from truly embracing life. She has watched Max for as long as she can remember. What you see isn’t always what you get.

He doesn’t know what to make of her, she’s captivated him. She’s not like girls he usually associates with. Max struggles with his own issues, even though he hides it well. Will he trust that Ace truly wants to be with him?

What I love is how strong all the characters are. You’ll find that you are drawn to the supporting characters, just as much as Ace and Max. Mariah will bring back all the feeling of your own youth, the emotions that you experienced with your first love/heart break. Whether it’s angst, love, confusion, self doubt, fear or just being crazy, your heart is going to feel it.
One thing that I would say was confusing, was the beginning of the book when we first meet the family. I have to imagine that’s what it’s like when you first meet a large family. That confusion only lasts a chapter or two, until you learn the family dynamics. That being said, the family dynamics contribute to making this book great.
