Enid Becker did all the right things. She went to college, graduated, and got a job right away. She moved to another state and thought she was living the dream. Then, she got laid off and had to move back home and in with her parents. She decides that going to grad school might help her find a better job, but she’s not happy about feeling like she has to start over.

Caroline Timothy is a college junior who doesn’t want to be in college. Her parents have given her strict instructions, though, so she decides to take some summer classes in order to graduate on time. A budding artist, she hates the classroom and doesn’t see the point in going to school.

A chance meeting at a bar, followed by running into each other at a career fair, has Enid wondering if losing that job and returning home was the best thing that could have happened, after all, because it led her to the creative, smart, and funny Caroline Timothy, whom she can’t keep off her mind.

With both of them feeling lost on their own, together, they discover that they’re right where they should be.

I enjoyed it, but I didn’t love it. This is VERY new adult and I just wasn’t in the mood for it, not the author’s fault at all. Nicole captures a great deal of that experience accurately. Enid and Caroline are navigating their very early 20s and they are filled with all of the angst and doubt that goes along with it. From hooking up in dorm rooms to moving back in with your parents to feeling the pressure of deciding the rest of your life before you can legally buy a beer, this book has all of the American new adult elements.

I’m super excited to get to Jill’s book. That poor girl needs to get her a woman. #justice4jill

Nicole Pyland's June is the sixth New Orleans book, and more friends join the fun!

Following an unexpected job loss, Enid is back at her parents’ New Orleans house and has decided to go to grad school to bolster her resume, a decision she finds less than thrilling, and a far cry from her 24-year-old self's aspirations.

At almost 21, Caroline hasn't yet figured out what career she wants, and she can feel pressure on her to decide which path to follow. Currently, she's in grad school and living in the dorms. A night out in the quarter is where Enid and Caroline briefly meet.

It took me a while to get fully immersed in this one. That being said, the characters are on a journey of new beginnings, new friendships, and self-discovery. Every step in their development felt natural and believable, a testament to the meticulous attention to detail in their character arcs. Catching up with familiar characters from previous books is always a pleasure as they feel like old friends to me.

I received an arc for my honest review.

June brings us to the halfway point of Nicole Pyland's new New Orleans series.
This one was interesting.
It focused on two college students, both of whom are a little lost and direction less, just trying to figure things out when they meet and eventually get together.
Caroline and Enid have a cuteness to their relationship that makes it different from the others. It feels more youthful and sweet. Is it because they are both young? Maybe. Mostly I think it's because of the fact that they naturally offer each other what the other is missing and/or is able to see the others (perceived) weaknesses as strengths.
Enid is a great example of just accepting your lover without trying to change or force them to be who or what you want/expect. Caroline reminds me of a lot of new college students just trying to figure out what they want to do with their lives; feeling trapped between still thinking like a kid but also knowing that they are adults and should have their lives together.
I think that's what makes this story feel the most realistic to me. As a college student myself, I can empathize a lot with both women and it makes me so happy to know that they have each other for support and encouragement. They have the type of relationship that a lot of people wished they would have been lucky enough to have at their age(s). I wish them both the best of luck.

This is just a really good, feel good young adult novel. Low angst, a little steamy, and lots of love. 10/10 especially if you enjoy slow-ish burns.

Enid and Caroline's story is the 6th book in the New Orlean's series. While this book wasn’t my favourite in this series it was still a really good book.

Both characters are at that stage in life where you feel like you have to have your whole adult life figured out. First is Enid, who’s plans have gone awry with her first job out of college and she finds herself back in school to earn her master’s degree, then there’s Caroline who doesn’t know what major she wants to declare let alone what she wants to do after college. The journey these two take is relatable from dating within a student budget, to trying to find alone time while living at home and in a dorm, to trying to make plans for your future when you’re in a new relationship.

I’ve really enjoyed this series so far and can’t wait to read book number 7.

This series is absolutely fantastic. It’s been an amazing ride so far, getting a new couple to fawn over in each book of the month.
Caroline has discovered that she enjoys drawing and giving names to some of the objects she brings to life on paper. Enid goes along with it and it’s so cute!
One scene has Caroline clearing her throat loudly, and the circumstances are hilarious. I was giggling and laughing out loud. The scene was penned perfectly. Another earlier scene filled with hijinks leads Caroline to respond to a question less than truthfully: ‘“Meet the Parents,” Caroline replied, lying. Enid laughed wildly.’
I love the humor that Ms Pyland brings out in her characters.
Enid and Caroline find their groove with each other and realize what will make both of them happy and what they hope will make their lives the best they can be.

super cute 🥰

I guess I hadn’t realized Enid was so young and now with Caroline the subject matter just became a little weird. I guess weird isn’t the right word but at 20/21 and 24 finding the love of your life seems just so bizarre. Then again we all (and by all I mean everyone but me because I am the Jill in these stories) find love at different intervals. That aside it was a really cute story and makes me wish I lived amongst these people, finding purpose, friends and love.

Also I love the fortune teller! I need to go find her lol.

That aside I’m excited to see Jill get her person and I wanted to say I can’t fathom waiting a month for it but in essence we typically wait about a year for a new series drop so I’ll patiently wait for it ☺️

All the Angst and Sweetness Too

This story was giving me all the feels. I could so clearly remember being in college and feeling the pressure to declare a major, plan in my life, find a relationship, and make my parents proud. At some parts it was actually stressing me out.

However, in true Nicole Pyland fashion, she weaves humor, fun, and friendship, and more than a little steam throughout the story. I loved meeting the new main characters and getting to hang out with my old New Orleans friends.

If you’ve ever questioned what you were going to do with your life, if you were ever going to find a girlfriend and how to balance a social life with only a few dollars and cents in your bank account, you will love this book. Another winner for sure.

Good book

Good story of students life. Trying to pick your major in life and having to share a room in the dorms, this is Caroline life. She is almost twenty one in a few weeks and trying to go to the bar is hard. Enid is twenty four and had to move back home because of lay offs and started back at school get her MBA. Things get crazy when Enid is date two girls and then you have Caroline friend Jodie and roommate Viv. We see how the students life can be hard just to be alone with your girlfriend and trying to get a part time job. Add in some of the other girls and you have a big party. Can Caroline and Enid make it work with all the distractions going on? A good book in the series

June is the next amazing book to join the New Orleans crew. I feel like June changes pace from previous books when we spend some time on the local college campus, and not just the French Quarter. Enid and Caroline both find themselves back at college and are waiting for their life’s direction to take hold. We get a bit of love triangle drama going on in more ways than one. I love the side characters in this one, from Caroline’s dorm roommate and best friend to Enid’s family roommates and Rory. I also enjoyed the different ways Caroline and Enid fit in with the mainstream group. This book was delightful and fun to read.

I can't say it enough, I've loved this entire series so much! Enid and Caroline are the most recent MC's to become a couple in this series. Who would have thought you could meet your person in the line waiting for the restroom? Once they actually meet and get to know one another the sparks start to fly, they both realize that they have finally found what they've been missing. One thinking 5 years ahead and the other thinking 5 days ahead. They complement each other well. Thses 2 have a great start and I'm excited to see where there story ends up.

Sometimes I really don't like the gender inequality shown in the book.
For example, MC always feels guilty about not paying rent to her parents because she lives at home, and she feels guilty because her mother does her laundry. Women are so humble in a family.
In the story, MC has a brother. I am 100% sure that her brother would never wash his own clothes if he lived at home, and he would be happy to let his mother do his laundry.
These seemingly unimportant plots are actually brainwashing young women

I have been pleasantly surprised by the depth of characters in this series.

Nicole Poland develops such wonderful characters, adapts them to the setting and builds intriguing stories for every one of them. This is no exception to this rule. These two MC’s are just perfectly made to work together and the story unfolds just as one would want it to. The desire for success for the characters is compelling and adds strength to the stories. I can’t wait for July to be released to see Jill meet her match!

#6 in the NOLA series and it was a cute story! This one is the first new age couple in this series . The main characters in this story are the youngest in the group and after following everyones journey so far they are in a very different place in their life. It was a nice reminder of what it is to be young and just starting out.

Enid and Caroline are both trying to figure out their future when they meet and their journey together of figuring out what they what in life is such a sweet story. You get the sweet with a little bit spice in this fun story. Can’t wait for the next one!!

This was a sweet and thoughtful story about finding yourself when life doesn’t go as planned. Enid and Caroline are in such different places, yet their connection feels natural and heartwarming. Their journey shows how sometimes setbacks can lead to unexpected and meaningful new paths. The pacing is gentle, and the characters are relatable. It’s a lovely read with a hopeful message about love, timing, and starting over.

A really sweet story of two very sweet people! Enid and Caroline are both in a bit of a rut and are trying to find their next step in life.

When they bump into each other (literally) in line for the bathroom, their split second interaction turns into something much, much more. And much more meaningful than either were expecting.

Loving this series so much! But I really need Jill to find her person! The poor thing is going through it in each book!

Another great one in the series! Enid and Caroline are both very relatable characters in this day and age with one who followed the college path and got a job afterwards only for it to not pan out and the other going to college because of the pressure and unsure of what to declare as their major. A what are the odds of seeing you again at the college career fair meeting and their story sets off from there. Great addition to the series and looking forward to Julys book (finally see Jill's story)

Character development is one of my favorite things about Nicole Pyland’s writing. You can’t help but simply fall in love with not only the main characters but the characters they are surrounded by. That being said you have two characters trying to figure out their lives when they run into each other by chance not once, but twice and realize they don’t have to have it all figured out now.

Another great read! I’m really enjoying this series and Nicole Pyland is finding ways to keep the series fresh and not stagnant.

I really enjoyed the two MCs, Enid and Caroline. I thought they were written very well. I personally found Caroline to be very relatable.

I always look forward to seeing the next book in the series in my inbox. This one was no exception!

I really love this series. The stories are interesting, the characters are relatable and likable, and the side characters are always fun. This book was no exception. Enid and Caroline’s love story started with a chance meeting, followed with sweet flirtations, then developed quickly into passion. They’re good together and understand each other. Their biggest problem through most of the book is dating on a budget while avoiding the people they live with.
One of the impressive things about this series is that all of the relationships develop in different ways, with different challenges. As always, it was great to catch up with previous couples and hear from the fortune teller. It was fun to learn more about Jill, especially since her story comes out next month! I recommend this book and the series as a whole.

textbook perfection

This is a really great way to interweave a story to include college life & some of its challenges. Enjoyed the characters but still find keeping them all “straight” is difficult at times.

Simply amazing

Nicole I have loved all of these stories and look forward to July. I am a lot curious what happened to Jill and Jodie? But this still sounds very very interesting. I hope Enid and Caroline are still together.

Caroline is looking for a plan, a path to follow for her future. Enid is focused on hers, though she’s a bit lost in the personal aspect. A few chance meetings changes everything for both of them as they help each other realize their next steps and find even more along the way. New Orleans continues to charm, and the friends we’ve met since January continue to show up for each other as they figure out who and what is right for them.
