Good intro to the basics of AI

This book is geared toward people who were born before the 1990s, in a largely analog world, who want to embrace change and learn how to use AI for real-world tasks without having to get too technical. It explains in simple terms how AI works, and gives examples for how you can use it, including effective chatbot interactions, task automation, career assistance, research pointers, virtual assistants, and entertainment. The book takes a wide view of artificial intelligence, encompassing more than just chatbots to include things like traditional web search, spam filters, and language translator programs - anything that has been trained to make decisions instead of just following a specific set of rules. I like that it’s so broad about it, not limited to ChatGPT and Claude, and that it also covers the things AI *can’t* do. It recommends using AI to automate the repetitive stuff so you have more time for the creative stuff, enhancing our work rather than replacing us. It describes concepts like machine learning and deep learning, natural language processing, IoT, prompt engineering, and cases where AI can make your life easier. This book is not only a good intro to AI, but also a great primer on how to use it well.

Great for beginners

This book is quite comprehensive in covering the basics of understanding what AI is all about. I know many people who are very much against AI because they are worried about the implications of this new technology. To be honest, I was one of them. But I realized, AI is going to stay whether I like it or not. So reading about what AI is all about and how it can help us is a good place to start. After all, it is a tool. We can use it according to our needs.
