A Perfect Square

Material Witness
The Fall Crafters Fair has barely begun in Shipshewana when murder strikes the small town once again--this time on the property of Daisy's Quilt Shop. It will take all of the sleuthing skills Deborah Yoder and Callie Harper possess to catch the perpetrator. But the stakes are higher than ever before, since the material witness is their best friend's child. Everyone will have to go on a journey of faith deep into the heart of God's grace.

I just finished book 1 Falling to Pieces: A Quilt Shop Murder and totally enjoyed it. I don't live far from Shipshewanna, Indiana and am familiar with the town and surrounding area. A novel set in this Amish country town piqued my curiosity. On top of that, as an "Englisher" I had the wonderful opportunity to teach in an Amish school for 3 years. When I read the synopsis and saw that an English woman and Amish woman would team up to solve a murder mystery, I was curious to see if the author would do a good job incorporating the 2 life styles in her story and explain the differences. Vannetta Chapman did a marvelous job weaving the story between the two cultures.
I enjoy a good mystery, and the story drew me in right away. With a miriad of diverse characters and plot lines, I was captivated and still did not fully know until the end of the book who had committed the murder. The story kept me in suspense, while weaving some romance, moral values, and friendships throughout the story. If you like quilts, the Amish and their ways, a good mystery, and a quaint country setting, you are in for a treat when you read Falling to Pieces.
The Shipshewana Amish Mystery Collection ( A Shipshewana Amish Mystery ) By: Vannetta Chapman This is a collection of three books and I loved all three.
Falling To Pieces ( Shipshewana Amish Mystery #1 ) By: Vannetta Chapman I really enjoyed Falling to Pieces and before I started reading it , I was thinking Amish, English, and cozy mystery all together!! Well let me tell you this is not your regular Amish book. I think Ms Chapman has did an excellent job of weaving her characters into a story about Amish and English working together. We have Callie Harper who inherited her aunt's Quilt store, Daisy's Quilt Shop, and then Deborah who is Amish and needs to sell her quilts. These two becomes good friends .This cozy mystery , Amish, and an English has it's twists and turns including a dead body. You might say a dead body in Shipshewana, IN. ? This story will make you laugh and keep you guessing till the end. Now I just have to read Book #2
A Perfect Square ) A Shipshewana Amish Mystery Book 2) By: Vannetta Chapman This is the second book, A Perfect Square, in this series and it was really good. Vannetta Chapman has did it again. She has weaved a story of mystery and love that when you start reading you do not want to put it down. If you read book one Falling To Pieces you will again meet up with the same characters. The story starts off really fast and it grabs you till the end. In Shipshewana , Indiana a dead girl was found floating in a local pond. Reuben Fisher is accused and taken into custody for the girls death. Reuben and Tobias are cousins and living on the property where the girl was found. No one believes that Reuben could do such a thing, but he remains silence and will not say anything. Tobias and Deborah is to get married. What will happen to them now, it is only two weeks till their wedding. We have Callie the non Amish and her dog Max, who owns Daisy's Quilt Shop and she is friends with Deborah, Esther, and Melinda who are Amish. Now if you have read book one how Callie and Deborah takes things into their hands and try to solve the mystery. They are determined to find out about the dead girl found floating in the pond. Deborah does not believe Reuben could have did anything to the girl and she is going to find out what happened to her. We have two mysteries in our story to solve. Iva Bontrager hunts and finds Callie. He wants her to find his long lost daughter that has been missing since 1965 when Palm Sunday tornadoes went through. Now no one remembers him having a daughter . Did he have a daughter or is it in his mind? If he had a daughter would his son not remember her? I was not disappointed in A Perfect Square and I an looking forward to reading book three Material Witness. I have it and will start it next. I was given a copy of this book for my honest review and I have given it
Material Witness ( A Shipshewana Amish Mystery Book #3) By: Vannetta Chapman I have read all three of these books in Shipshewana Amish Mystery Series and I think that Vannetta Chapman really did an awesome job. This story starts out with action and it don't let up till the end. The name "Material Witness" really fits this book good. This one is my favorite of the three. At the opening of the Fall Crafter's Fair a woman is killed right outside of Daisy's Quilt Shop. This really upsets Callie Harper, the owner. She can't believe this is happening again. Someone has been killed and she is right in the middle of it. This time there is an eye witness to the killing. There is Shane Black the office who is heading the killing and he does not want Callie hurt. He has feeling for Callie. We have the non Amish Callie, and the Amish ladies Deborah, Melinda, and Esther. These ladies are so close that they feel like sisters. Yes they will have to help and find who the killer is before the killer goes after one of them. We also have another mystery about some quilts that these ladies just has to find out the mystery about them. I don't want to leave out the children and Max in this story. They play a big part in this story. I laughed one minute and on the edge of my seat the next minute. If you love a good clean mystery and light romance, you will love "Material Witness." Just be prepared when you start reading , you will not want to put it down. This last book has really turned out good. I would hope there would be another one . I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest review and I have given it.
