Brian Murray Fagan was a British author of popular archaeology books and a professor emeritus of Anthropology at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Yet another book bought to remind me of travels I've made. According to the two reviews on Amazon it's the best and most understandable account of the history of archaeology for the layman (person). I couldn't tell you I've only read captions of the beautiful photographs. Did I forget to mention it's a National Geographic publication? They're always well illustrated and informative. Sorry I can't say more about the written content. Like so many other books I have in my library this one serves only as another photo album for me.
Fagan elaborates extremely well in all 359 pages, detailing every single wondrous place you can possibly think of. The pictures are astounding, wording is great and the history is so rich it makes me salivate wanting more. From the great pyramids or dream of seeing ancient temples that rise high in the Andes Mountains.
The Adventure of Archaeology by Brian M. Fagen (National Geographic Society 1985)(930.1). This is a National Geographic publication. Need I say more? This is a wonderful and thrilling volume. My rating; 7.5/10, finished 1985.
