True happiness, lasting happiness is within everyone's grasp through a process known as Self-Actualisation, a natural state within the reach of everyone. This kind of happiness cannot be obtained through the acquisition of things. The fleeting gratification in getting things is not true happiness. That is an illusion created by our global consumer society.
This was a VERY short book - so short that it's tough to rate. There's nothing wrong with the advice in it, but it could pretty much be summed up as "take care of yourself and live in the moment". Honestly, I can't see this book being life-changing for anyone, but I don't mind the occasional positive reminder.
There is nothing really profound about this book, but I didn't consider it a complete waste of time. At least there are some good concepts in it to build off of.
This is mostly a starter or a summary of interesting ideas that might be helpful to you, if you are on a life quest after happiness, especially on realistic grounds, analytical thinking, reason and without seeking help from the supernatural or the continuous need of buying motivational programs from any kind of motivational hustler.
I had a retrospective look at my life and made me realize things I have done and conclusions I had from all the other reading I have done to make the most of my life, including living experiences. I also discovered a few things I can improve.
This is a very small reading so if you find yourself interested in any of the topics feel free to do plenty of web searches.
I loved it. It's all about staying in the moment, being /doing the absolute best you can at all times. I was happy to read I live this frame of mind 90% of the time! Sometimes it's hard to maintain inner peace + SA during sudden stress...I was hoping you might offer suggestions to maintain focus + keep in check. I still really liked the book tho. Ready to read books 2+3 as well as the others especially What happens when I die?
its about 60 pages... downloaded for free from ibooks on my iphone... pretty basic stuff about self realization and some good pointers for someone who is starting to read about happiness and the meaning of self realization/ self actualization.
A short tiny little primer on Self Actualization and Maslow. Basically, live in the moment and pay attention to your thoughts and don't always do the "safe" thing or you will grow very slowly.
Hippy new age nonsense, i guess if you're miserable this book might work for you, however if you are normal or happy you just go "well DUHH" 3/4 of the book.
very simple and easy to read; nothing fresh and nothing really deep to think about; but still nice to be reminded of the simplicity of being happy; no need to over-complicate things
It's cool that it's short. Very direct but not an instruction manual like you may think. It explains the attitudes and behaviors of those who are happy. Worth checking out. It's a free e-book.
