Every Single Wildflower is a small town, ex boyfriend's older brother, cowboy romance.
Returning home to Mayson Ridge was the last thing I had planned. But after receiving unexpected text reading you need to come home and with no other reasonable excuse besides my own guilt, I had no other choice. I knew at some point I'd have to face my family, and being back in Mayson Ridge meant I'd unfortunately end up facing the man who shattered my heart before I left for good. I thought I'd see him in passing, a simple glance from across a crowded room. What I didn't expect was to find Maddox Sheppard working on my family ranch. Just like I didn't expect to be forced into teaming up with him to save what's left of the Mayson Ranch legacy. But old feelings still linger, the heartbreak fresh, and so many unspoken words between me and the rugged cowboy who secretly owns my heart. I'd have given it to him years ago...but he, along with the rest of this town thought it belonged to someone else. To his brother.
Every Single Wildflower is book one of the Every Single Series. It can be read as a standalone. No cheating and a guaranteed HEA.
3.5 rounded up. Needs a grammar and continuity editor, and I wasn't a fan of the FMC's father's storyline. But this one as a whole is cute and has my heart. I always love a ranch setting. Loved the side characters too, and the bits of family drama. Immediately reading the next book bc I wanna see the brother and Dakota's story.
‼️Spoilers
The cheating tag is for a pair of important side characters, NOT for the MMCs. Not completely satisfied with how that part of the storyline turned out, but I'll never be someone who forgives cheating. 🤷🏽♀️
Very small OW and OM drama, but it's not ever something to worry about, especially after truths on both sides are revealed.
No third act breakup.
Would have liked more groveling, but it was clear from the beginning that the MMC wanted her, he just had his own hangups. I didn't mind this time that they gravitated to each other so quickly (though this is still a slow burn) because of thruths revealed either to each other or to the reader.
I could not put this book down, I love Maddox and Ivy’s story. Ivy's character pulled me in I needed to know more about her. The story is told in the past and present.
Ivy returns to her family's ranch to help while her father recuperates. She runs into the one person she hopes to avoid. As their story unfolds, we learn of unresolved feelings, but can they really make it work this time? Her stay has an end date.
Also, kudos to the author for the ex-brother trope done well. The story has some bite, the family secrets are fantastic, the small town charming, and I am ready for more.
Ngl. I ate this book up! This is the first book to the Mayson Ridge series, and I can't wait for more.
ARC Review: Ivy and Maddox!! Right from the start, I knew it was going to have my attention. The book hooks you with a mix of the past and present. You can see how much Maddox cares for Ivy, even being his brothers ex.
When Ivy returns to the family ranch, her and Maddox are pushed back into the same orbit. They navigate old wounds, unresolved feelings, and the question of if they can make a real go of things this time around. The chemistry that the characters have is undeniable even as the family secrets start being revealed.
Themes: family secrets, yearning from both MC, a little OWD, no cheating, and HEA
I don’t think the concept of this book was awful, but the writing was pretty bad. The pacing and chapter composition didn’t really work. I also think that some of the word choice was a little off. I definitely saw Mayson being spelled differently throughout the book. I don’t know if this author works with an editor, but I think she should. On another note- I didn’t mind either character, but I didn’t think there was much to either of them.
Ivy was a great FMC. I thought she was just running away for no reason, boy did she have reasons… one major one was Maddox. Who is the definition of golden retriever with alpha energy cowboy! 🤠 the spice was slow and minimal but the drama and plot were 🧑🏻🍳 💋!!
***spoilers⚠️⚠️⚠️ The story is told in pieces, going from present to past, I’m telling it in chronological order. Past: Ivy was dating Brady since she was about 14. She was in love, as much as any 14 year old. Over time, she realized her love for Brady felt more like a brotherly love. When she tried to break up with him, his father passed and she couldn’t do it then, so she stayed. Brady always put her on the back burner. He aspired to be a bull rider. He chased buckles and bunnies. Thinking he hid it from Ivy. He lets her down time and again. But Maddox, his older brother seems to pick up the pieces. When Brady didn’t show to prom, Maddox takes her to her favorite field of wildflowers. When Brady forgets to pick her up after work, Maddox is there. Their chemistry is magnetic and they both fight it. Maddox has guilt over it because not only is Brady his younger brother, but Brady blames Maddox for the accident that caused their father to pass. Maddox lied saying he was driving when it was really his dad. He didn’t want Brady’s image of their father to be destroyed over one mistake. During a cookout, Ivy goes to get cups for her mom, she catches her father and Jamie - Aiden’s (one of the fam hands) wife - kissing and her dad saying it’s over. Her dad sees her and tries to explain. She leaves and goes to Maddox, who has been a rock. She sees Emily (town ho) in his shirt and sees Maddox fresh from the shower. Ivy runs to the barn to hide, Maddox chases her, they bang. Emily actually follows them and forever tries to get Maddox’s attention. After, Maddox tells Ivy it was a mistake and leaves, not looking back. Ivy realizes she has to leave, and does, not returning for 4 years. Present: Ivy gets a call about her dad being in the hospital after a fire on their ranch. Her mother and one of her brothers, Cooper, are glad to see her. Ryder her other brother is still upset she left. She stays in Cooper’s cabin, without being told it’s now Maddox’s cabin. They run into each other when she is out of the shower looking for a towel. Ivy tries to avoid Maddox but he seems to be everywhere. They are also trying to save the ranch as it has been struggling financially for a while. The fire investigator determines it is arson which prevents them from filing an insurance claim. This puts them in a bad position, possibly having to sell. There is another ranch competitor that wants to buy the ranch but he is a twit. Brady sees Ivy is back and it seems like he’d like to get back with her. Maddox and Ivy flirt heavily and anytime Maddox is with / near a woman, Ivy freaks out with jealousy. They finally give in to their feelings, of course Maddox feels bad because of his brother. Ivy confesses she was never with Brady fully because she knew deep down she wanted Maddox, so her first time was with Maddox in the barn. And her dad cheated on her mom which all lead to her leaving, she couldn’t be her to watch Maddie be with other women and face her mother. The fire investigator confesses he lied, that it wasn’t arson (Ryder beat him up) and they are able to save the ranch. Ivy’s dad apologizes again and tells Ivy her mom knows, he confessed a year ago. It never reached a sexual relationship, only kissing and emotional. Her mom forgave him and chose to stay. Maddox and Brady talk. Brady now knows his father was drunk behind the wheel and he apologizes for being so mean with Maddox.

I had a blast reading it, it was a good book. Though it’s not one that I’ll want to reread and reread. I did really enjoy it.
However, I really feel like there could have been alittle more yearning and groveling. This woman has waited for this man silently for years while everyone including him thought she loved someone else. Nobody ever listened or really even asked her about it.
Our FMC leaves town and doesn’t return until her father is hurt, through the book we learn this is our MMC and her father’s fault, now I don’t want to give too much away, but everyone is mad at her but one of her brothers when she returns. Her other brother is pissed at first she’s never returned and being rude. The man she loves is being rude to her and pushing her away still, and she’s scared of loosing her father while also not wanting to face him.
In the end this was a super sweet book with a great hea, but if there had been more groveling or more yearning for the MFC I would have enjoyed it much more, I just feel like after all those years, she deserved alittle more than just running to him.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! As the first book in the Mayson Ridge series, I am excitedly anticipating the next installment.
ARC Review: Ivy and Maddox's story immediately grasped my attention. The novel expertly merges past and present, successfully engaging the reader. It is apparent that Maddox genuinely cares for Ivy, despite her being his brother's ex. Upon Ivy's return to the family ranch, she and Maddox are brought back into each other's orbit, navigating unresolved emotions, past wounds, and the possibility of rekindling their relationship.
The chemistry between the characters is unmistakable, even as family secrets start to unravel.
Themes: family secrets, mutual yearning, a touch of unrequited love, no cheating, and a satisfying happily-ever-after.
Arc review :This book is absolutely captivating! It centers around Ivy, who returns to Mayson Ridge after four-years, who then She unexpectedly encounters Maddox, the brother of her ex-boyfriend who she loves, a connection she can't shake off no matter how hard she tries. This is what makes the story so electrifying—it's a tale of forbidden love that defies all odds! Ivy and Maddox are drawn to each other despite the complications, and their journey that is filled with secrets, deep friendships, family trying to save a farm, and heart-wrenching sacrifices made for the happiness of others.
Ivy and Maddox....whew! From the first page til the last page, I was getting all the feels from these two! Ms. Chaynie had my heart strings being pulled throughout this story.
Hearts have been broken, lies have been told, family drama is front and center.... but in the end... hearts will be mended, the truth with come out (one truth shocked the heck out of me), and the family will come together!
I laughed, I cried and was cheering for Ivy and Maddox to grab their HEA! I want to say that I think Maddox is a very swoon worthy man! Him and his darn “darlin’” had me in a puddle!
If you want Ex’s Brother done right this book is for you! I loved Maddox and Ivy so much. The secret pining in this book was so good. Maddox came off as kind of an a$$hole but definitely redeemed himself. I loved seeing them reconnect and rebuild their relationship. Their HEA was all I wanted for them. As much as I wanted Brady to kick rocks for how he treated Ivy, I really want him to see her loved how she’s supposed to be and get 👏🏻 it 👏🏻 together👏🏻 Secretly rooting for you Brady! Those family secrets kept me on edge and that bomb drop at the end blew my mind!
Oh yes!! S.J. slays the cowboy romance!! Maddox is a hot cowboy who’s been in love with his brother’s ex for YEARS!! One night in a barn with Ivey puts him on the spot to choose between his brother and the girl he loves. Ivey is forced back to town when her childhood home burns down. Now she is forced to face her past head on. This time will Maddox make the right choice? And just how did that fire start??
Excellent story from S.J. as usual. She has a special way of writing a romantic suspense that has you turning the pages and leave you wanting more!
Ivy left Mayson Ridge 4 years ago and hasn't been back. That is until there is a catastrophe at home, and her brother tells her to come home right away because their father was hurt.
When Ivy returns home, she has a lot of baggage that greets her from the past. The biggest part of that baggage being Maddox Sheppard; her ex boyfriend's older, hot brother, who was also one of her best friends before he broke her heart.
Ivy thought being back home would be quick and easy, until she realizes that she has to stay with Maddox and her father has been keeping secrets that could ruin their family and their ranch. While Ivy is trying to figure out these issues, Maddox is trying to forget the fact that he is in love with Ivy because he doesn't want to hurt his brother. But love has a way of overcoming anything.
Small town, cattle ranch, ex's brother, second chance, spicy.
Every Single Wildflower by @authors.j.chaynie 4.5⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
Thoughts - I fell in love with Ivy and Maddox from Chapter 1! She has family secrets and past trauma…so does he, this book is full of emotional healing, suspense, and some amazing banter! The ex’s older brother trope was done so well, add in a little forced proximity and there’s a whole lot of tension going on! I giggled, I cried - it was such a good time!
This was so good. I wish that it would have been longer. I liked the few surprises in there that I 100 percent did not expect (two things mostly: the dads affair and mmc wasn’t actually driving the vehicle that caused his dads death). I’m hoping that the other books (looks like this will be a series?) will be surrounded around the siblings. Seems to me like Dakota and Connor could have a book coming based off theirs closeness in this book.

Small-town romance lovers, this one’s for you! ❤️🔥 Every Single Wildflower by S.J. Chaynie completely stole my heart. Ivy and Maddox’s connection—from early on to now—was magnetic, emotional, and oh-so-addictive. The mix of romance, depth, and a touch of suspense kept me hooked from start to finish. If you love a heartfelt, small-town love story with all the feels, you NEED this book! 🌿✨
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Oh I loved the story between ivy and Maddox, after her fire at her family home that put her dad in the hospital Ivy comes home for the first time in 4 years. Coming back and having to see Maddox (her exs older brother) who broke her heart and one of the reasons she left. They try to avoid another but they always end up gravitating back to each other. When they both told each other how they feel 🥰 can’t wait for the next book

I have been going through a reading slump recently and decided to try and read Every Single Wildflower. I enjoyed this book so much I finished it in one day.
The book was well written, and the overall storyline had me intrigued from the very beginning. I enjoyed both main characters and could not wait to find out what happens.
This was a great way to start the series, and I can't wait to continue reading on in the series.
I loved Maddox and Ivy so much. The secret pining in this book was so good. Maddox came off as kind of an butt hole but definitely redeemed himself. I loved seeing them reconnect and rebuild their relationship. Their HEA was all I wanted for them? Those family secrets kept me on edge and that bomb drop at the end blew my mind!
This book …. It did things to me. Oh my heart. I fell head over heels for Maddox he is such an amazing character. Ivy is a strong, independent, well spoken, FMC. Even with her flaws and issues she wasn’t annoying she was relatable. The character development was so well written and so realistic. The storyline and plot flowed perfectly. Another amazing story.
Book one in the Every Single Series. Ivy and Maddox is amazing after 4 years she coming home. When she sees Maddox again feeling come back. We get a glimpse of them and now. He’s his brother’s ex. But the heart wants to bat the heart wants. We get everything with this one. Best part is how hard they want to walk away. You won’t put it down.
Contemporary Romance Storyline Rating: 5/5 ⭐️ Spice Rating: 2/5 🥵 Tropes: Small Town, Ranchers, Ex’s Brother, Second Chance,l
Oh em gee This was a cute story with several side quests skipping through the main plot. The way the two main characters back to where they belong is beautiful.
This was a quick and easy read with so many twists and turns but danggggg I'm obsessed. Ivy and Maddox were on fire and I loved how other stories were set up in the book as well. Their chemistry was palpable and I wasn't ever a sucker for the exes brother but this one was too good to pass up.
2CP Loved this. Great 2nd chance! Enough drama from outside forces and longing between the FMC and MMC. And so much intertwined story line on upcoming books in the series. Already looking forward to Cooper and Dakota's story, Laiken and Parker's story and the Ryder and even Brady.
I came across Every Single Wildflower after reading Every Single Vow first. I loved the second book and after finally reading the first, I like this one just as much. I did not expect the twist and I always love that about a book. Crossing my fingers for a book 3!
An ex boyfriends brother meets small town tragedy with a twist at the end that I didn’t see coming! I am so happy that Ivy and Maddox found their way back to each other in the end! This my first of S.J. Chaynie’s books, but I will be reading more!

Listen, this was a great story with characters that I enjoyed. There are spelling errors and words that don't quite fit. I had to read a few sentences repeatedly to get the meaning. The plural apostrophes drive me insane but it's a great story. I will read the next for sure.
ARC review: I loved this book! This was the first SJ Chaynie book I have read and I enjoyed Mayson Ridge as well as Maddox and Ivy so much that I plan to read it again!
