Pink Lace #1

Pink Lace and Stolen Hearts

Rate this book
Greg is my roommate and best friend. He’s been depressed ever since his boyfriend found out that he likes to wear feminine underwear and dumped him. When I saw Greg in those blue silk panties, my entire world changed. I may actually love him, but I can't. I'm not gay, right?

Written as part of the Love's Landscape Event

Dear Author,

This is my roommate and best friend, Greg. He’s been depressed, and maybe even suicidal, ever since his boyfriend found out that he likes to wear feminine underwear, especially the sheer styles like the one in the picture above. He was so in love with that loser. He even told me that he was holding off from having sex until they got to know one another, because he wanted it to be perfect. He’s old-fashioned that way— a history major who’s enthralled with the history of dating and romantic relationships throughout the centuries. He believed he could find his own Prince Charming and have a Happily Ever After romance. Because he’s a bit embarrassed and unsure of himself about his underwear fetish, he’d always wear “tighty whities” when he was with Simon, or Simple Simon as I like to call him in my mind. Why Simon never questioned that a flamboyant gay man like Greg would wear simple white briefs, I’ll never know.

When Greg started to feel comfortable in their relationship, and was ready to go all the way, he finally got up the nerve to wear his favorite pair of undies— a silky smooth, sheer lace, pink bikini with tiny embroidered roses. He was hoping to please Simon, but when he saw them, Simon became enraged, smacking Greg in the face, calling him sick, and storming out the door.
Now, there’s Greg standing at the railing, looking at nothing in particular, lost, forlorn, sad, all the things that I don’t want him to be. I love him— as a friend, and maybe even more, though I’ve never told him. I’m straight, at least I think I am, but when I first saw him in a pair of pretty powder blue panties, I swear my heart skipped a beat, and I think I even drooled a little. My reaction made me question my own sexuality, but I haven’t explored anything further with him. I’m happy that he trusted me enough to reveal his secret to me, but now my heart is broken for him due to Simon’s rejection.

Greg is so special, so wonderful, please dear author, give him a love story, even if it can’t be with me. He deserves to find happiness with someone who loves him unconditionally and appreciates all the facets of his personality.

Sincerely,

Barb ~rede-2-read~

GRATUITOUS PANTY GIFS AHEAD

"I don't consider myself a cross-dresser. I like to wear this kind of underwear. I like how it feels. I've worn some other stuff, like stockings and a corset, but I don't want to dress like a woman. I also don't want to be a woman, so I'm not transgender. I think they're pretty, and I like them."

Wooooooooooo baby, come to Mama!
Let's do this!
We'll work our way up the lingerie food chain incrementally.

Greg is a dreamer. Looking for his Prince Charming and so desperate to find him that he's settled for a douche canoe who judges him for his panty fetish. His loss, button.

The only thing that came to mind seeing his hard, lean body was beautiful.

His roommate, Law… *sigh* God love him, he's a little clueless regarding his feels. Everyone and their sister knows he's in love with Greg. I'm fairly certain even people in other solar systems got the memo. His first clue should've been that he drops everything to get to his anxiety riddled roommate every single time there is a sprinkling of rain. Hello, McFly! That's a skosh more than "just friends" wouldn't you say?
description
But NOOOOOOOOOOOO what throws the light switch was seeing his roomie in some pink panties.
description
Can't say I can fault the man there. *fist bump*

Pink Lace and Stolen Hearts has quite a bit of angst packed into a mere 10 chapters. Mr. Wallace did an excellent job of making Law's apprehension about being attracted to a man for the first time in his life believable. The dialogue was honest and genuine. The secondary characters added to the story in positive ways which moved the story forward.
description
I liked that the MCs had an existing relationship that evolved rather than going the instalove route. There were some fluffy feels that I'm overlooking in the interest of panty solidarity.

In short,
Yes, YES, YAAAAASSSSSSS!!!!
description
^^^^what he said^^^^

My thanks to Mr. Wallace for hitting me right in the panties. Tip o'the hat, sir.

Angst. Loved-You-For-Years. Panty Kink. Virgin.

A SRAL approved check list that guaranteed me reading.

3.5 Stars rounded up for the hint of kink

This story has a check list that really speaks to this smutster.

*nom nom nom*

Lawson is the striaight best friend and roommate of gay Greg. See Greg is a dreamer, needy and romantic - deadly combination. And Lawson is the friend who drops everything to see Greg smile, who is definitely the president of the #teamGregfanclub and doesn't seem to get how much he changed himself for his friend for all of these years.

Greg has a shitty boyfriend who treats Greg shittier (aka using hands not words). >:[
(Don't worry I love romances with abused characters...another for the list it seems)

Greg has a panty wearing secret which truthfully is friggin hot and then there's a scene with sniffing a certain item that made it even hotter. Someone recognizes they are gay for a certain panty-wearing, heart-on-his-sleeve best friend and then the angst train gets riden hard. Actually took a detour to teen drama town but it got back on track once the men FINALLY spoke to one another and quit pussyfooting around.

Take away 1.5 for that bit of foolishness.

Thankfully Greg and Lawson made it better with butt plug use.

Hot little story with a spicy little HEA. I'll pretend I didn't see the schmoop bucket in the last bit.

So in conclusion,

Sweet GFY with an opposites attract and friends to lovers themes.

One guy is so in touch with his feelings and highly empathic and the other is oblivious and avoids them all together. Talk about a slow burn, this fire's so deeply banked, one of them never knew it was there until the one moment it's exposed and flares white hot. Denial, acceptance, fetish, the triumvirate of motifs in this short story are explored. I feel that if this was fleshed out and expanded it would be more powerful and highly erotic. And yes, men in beautiful things are beautiful.

This friendship-to-relationship felt way too codependent for me; Law is perpetually looking after his needy little sweetie and Greg is a bundle of sniffling angst.

I'd have liked to have seen their interaction away from all the issues so the friendship could be felt and the attraction believed. The underwear selections were incidental because Greg was portrayed so vulnerable he never seemed sexy.

Also why did Simon leave the house? It was weird to me that they had their long sob-fest/talk there.

3 stars solid.

I liked this a fair bit and along with another of the MM romance group Love's Landscapes stories - Knickers in a Twist Love's Landscapes I have discovered a fetish for men in ladies knickers. Deep sigh....there is little chance I will get a man willing to wear lace for me (OK, my cousin would but 1. he's my cousin (ugh) and 2. he's gay). This was another sweet story with a GFY long unrequited romance trope. Luckily I like these tropes. It was short (well, duh) but filled well and with minimal sex - I would've liked a slightly less rushed ending but it was still good.

Now since it seems I have a fetish I need to go and google it's name so I can (erhemm) read (erhemm) more about it!

This wasn't bad but needed more character exploration to seem a bit less melodramatic in the emotions and more earned.

I like friends to lovers romance a great deal and these two heroes were wonderful friends but they needed more communication about feelings.

So, okay short story.

Sweet GFY and Friends to Lovers story with a lingerie kink and hurt/comfort thrown in. I enjoyed it :)

3.5 rounded down because it got a bit too angsty/melodramatic for me at times

A seriously sexy pic for the LL picture prompt event.
The author did a great job of following the prompt.

A sweet friends to lovers story, a bit of a unnecessary misunderstanding Law loves that Greg needs him, Law loves how smart he is, his ambition, his crying and his underwear.
Now of he could just get his act together and share this with Greg...
Now, Greg, I understood him wanting someone to love and to love him...but I was a little disturbed by his initial reaction to Simon's behavior. I was glad that he finally saw the light on that at the end.

Like Wench, my favourite this week from the LL event is Pink Lace and Stolen Hearts. Now seeing as we claim to like different ends of the reading spectrum (Wench's kinky to my sweeeeeet feels), and this is the SECOND book this week we've agreed on, don't be surprised if the world stops turning or pigs start flying or you find a Leprachaun at the end of the rainbow, offering you gold.

Anyhoo - agree we did, so here am I telling my side of the tale. What was good about this sexy little knicker story? Well first of all, let's pause right there and think about that. Sexy knick-knacks on men. Yes please. OH DEAR GOD YES PLEASE. I mean lace and satin encasing all that manliness. Ho hum be still my throbbing...nope, never mind.

Moving swiftly on, and I'm going to shout again, FRIENDS TO LOVERS. Yep, this is my all time favourite story line of always and forever. There is something that just gets me about it - because love should be about friendship first. Friendship is the important part that lasts even on the days when lust doesn't. A good bit of how's your father is always very nice but friendship is the bit that makes my heart beat faster. The trust and love between two friends...OH EM GEE. Then add that lust into the mix and yes, yes, yes....please. And thank you muchly.

Was this book perfect...nope. I really enjoyed the first three-quarters, the UST was so hot but the last quarter I enjoyed less...it kind of moved from real to a bit OTT for me. First time sex is not that good for anyone. Little niggles but not enough to ruin the story. Yep, this little hottie was my pick of the week.Wench and I agree. Now go get your shopping done before the price of bacon goes up.

3.5 stars. GFY + friends-to-lovers = I can't resist. This story stayed pretty true to the prompt. I liked how Law wanted/needed to take care of Greg. He really was Greg's Prince Charming. Greg cried a lot in this story, but it was all within reason and not over the top. I got a little aggravated Law didn't immediately tell Greg how he felt once he figured it out (I rolled my eyes at his dating plan), but luckily that didn't go on too long. The last few pages hit just the right note. Very romantic.

It wasn't the worst story ever. But I wasn't a huge fan of the angst here. I would have preferred it to have stayed a cute GFY instead of an angsty GFY.

The Good:

This was sweet. I love gay-for-you roomates so this was right up my alley. And what can I say, a man in sexy panties? Sign me up!

The Bad:

Greg came across as very juvenille. He appears to have PTSD that is triggered by thunderstorms due to a traumatic childhood event, but to say he "hates thunderstorms and shadows" seemed childish. To be honest, that whole side plot seemed unecessary. I liked that Law wanted to take care of him, but this was an odd choice of vulnerability and just didn't really work for me.

The Ugly:

Okay, so "ugly" is a little dramatic, but Simon was just such a one dimensional villain. Is it naive of me to think gay men are generally more open, and even if it's not you're thing, a man in panties is not a slapping offense? But as much of a dick as Simon was, part of that ending bothered me , and an awkward location for the dramatic "I love you"s.

I really liked this. There were parts that disturbed me, but I got it. I felt Greg. That feeling of doing anything to be in a relationship, to be loved. Yeah. I got that.

Law was the one I had issues with. Like

This is one of my favorites so far in the LL stories :)

This is such a sweet friends to lovers and GFY story. You really get inside the MC's head and feel his mental struggles. Perfect mix of emotion and angst. The UST was palpable and the passion between them in the end was perfect. The sexy underwear was a very welcome added extra. The cherry on the top of the story. Loved it.

Sweet little GFY/friends-to-lovers story. Greg totally broke my heart and I think the author did a great job following the prompt. Probably a bit more drama than needed in such a short story, but I enjoyed it.

A short novella that’s pretty forgettable as soon as you put it down. Friends to lovers with pining and technically some emotional moments. The writing was fine.

Also, someone’s first time at anal and being called a sex god… lmao. Sure, Jan.

Friends to lovers wasn't my liking at all, but because the MC liked to wear feminine things, I needed to give it a go.

As it turned out, it was no different than any other friends-to-lovers trope book, which I regretted reading.

Lawson was a self-proclaimed straight man who didn't like his roommate's boyfriend, and he felt jealous of Greg spending time with his boyfriend.

After too many failed relationships with women and seeing Greg in lingerie, he started to ask himself the hardest question of his life: was he in love with his best friend all along without ever realizing it?

Lawson not only has a string of failed relationships but also a very recent hookup with someone, and I don't need to read about it, ugh. To make matters worse, Greg knew about it and asked about his failed relationships and point-blank asked him if he has someone special, and Lawson stupidly said there's no one while he knew from people close to both of them that Greg was in love with him. How stupid of you!

Then Greg's ex-boyfriend tried to reach out again and make amends. That's when Lawson realized the mistake he made; thankfully, Greg broke things off once and for all with his ex.

Oh my gosh, I can't believe I forgot to rate this when it first came out. It was based on my prompt and I read it before the ebook was created so I was supposed to come back and do my review and never did. So sorry.

But, and this is a big but, since time has gone by, I felt I should read it again and it was as fresh as the first time I read it. I absolutely loved it. There was the emotionally tragic Greg who was scorned for his choice of wearing feminine undergarments and the hot roomie, Law, who had no idea the thought of his roommate in pink lace panties could be such a turn-on. But how could he be gay? Emotional struggles, angst, and a final decision to pursue a relationship with the man he realizes he's loved for years.

Perfect. I highly recommend this one. And I thank JC Wallace for giving us such a wonderful story for FREE!

This GFY, friends to lovers, accept my kink story was sugary goodness. Who doesn't want a prince charming?

This was a well written story that included many themes and handled them all well (except Lawson`s plan to date Greg )

I wish this story were longer as the ending felt rushed and I feel like I missed out on some acceptance and growth between the two MCs. Also, Regardless, it was still very sweet and enjoyable read. I especially enjoyed how much Lawson loved Greg and accepted him.

Recommended.

Cute, sexy story about Lawson who has to come to grips with his attraction to his best friend Greg, who just happens to have this urge to wear silky underwear.

Some great perv moments along the way as Law lets us see Greg through his entranced eyes. It's all pretty hot really. And the boys are gorgeous together (when they eventually get there).

This is a really sweet GFY/OFY story of two best friends - Greg and Law. Law looks at himself as Greg's best friend and protector. Greg has a boyfriend who doesn't really seem to have his best interests at heart. When things go wrong on that front, Law is confronted with facing how he really feels about Greg - and it might be more than friends.

Very hot and so lovely. Law was such a great character and I love the fact that he found his happines in working instead of studying. The relationship between him and Greg was very sweet but also felt balanced and I would love to read more about these two later on.
