In volume three, even More Things Are Happening. I am not sure whether this time the hints were more obvious or whether I got better at picking them up thanks to having read Koushounin (actually I am pretty sure it’s the former) but well, realizing what’s going on while the main characters don’t is also a special kind of painful. Again, I’ll refrain from spoiling the plot, let me just wax on about Chiri and Takame a bit.
This time, it’s obvious they’re getting closer emotionally and if you like hurt/comfort, or especially the comforting part (which I do), you get one of the most beautiful and tender and yet perfectly in character scenes I have ever read, oh god it was so wonderful, I get goosebumps and teary-eyed just thinking about it.
And the art for those scenes took my breath away. Holy crap.
I also loved that Takame keeps surprising Chiri in that Chiri keeps expecting Takame to reject him but he doesn’t and that makes me love Takame more and more.
The only painful thing is that the Things That Are Happening are in no way resolved at the end (in fact, there’s quite a cliffhanger), and I just pray that she’ll write the continuation soon. But they’re going to be alright, okay? Everything’s going to be alright.
(I would have been okay with nothing but silly cases but of course it has to get serious grumble grumble okay I’m not really mad but the pain aaah.)
Also for this book I feel like I need extra stars. Or just imagine they're sparkling, okay?
