Dennis grew up in Fishtown, a working-class neighborhood in Philadelphia. Went to school there and made friends there. Went to college and served a stint in the army, a year of which in Viet Nam. He has a dark secret from his time there that haunts him and that he must shake. Now at twenty-five years old, he works in his family’s store and searches for a brighter future.
Story was so-so, but being familiar with the Fishtown neighborhood, as I grew up in nearby Kensington during the same time period, gave me a feeling of connection with the protagonist. That association took me back to some childhood/young adult memories, and I found that enjoyable.
