I’m so fucking pissed off that she would do this to me.

I really thought we had something, but instead, I’m left feeling like an idiot.

All I want to do is go back home and forget the last few weeks ever happened, but I’m stuck in this stupid country teaching tennis to spoiled rich kids who care less about playing than I do.

All I want to do is forget about her.

But things are never that easy, are they?

★★★★! Wildcard, Volume 2 of 3. A hilarious, sexy, suspenseful & sweet romance about a tennis star who falls on his ass & meets a regular girl!

These novellas should be read in order:
Part 1: Wildcard: Volume I
Part 2: Wildcard: Volume II
Part 3: Wildcard: Volume III

In Wildcard, Volume I we met British star tennis player Ryder Stevens as suffered an injury going from manwhore to bed written in mere seconds and missing the finals in the French Open. In replying to a fan, a sickly boy in the US he encountered his feisty and witty young mother, Scarlett Calera, Scar. And so a long distance flirtatious friendship ensued followed by a budding romance when fate opened the door for them to meet….

Wildcard, Volume II picks up in the aftermath of part 1’s shocking ending. Ryder and Scar have lots to work through and secrets to share that will likely carry on through the series. What is not under question is their intense attraction and sexual chemistry and so they both find themselves working through their issues towards something neither is sure of while dark forces work against them….

 photo WC2HxBSbysb_zps8c943318.gif

Ryder Stevens’ combination of wit, sarcasm, vulnerability and vulgarity is entertaining and endearing. Seven words to describe Ryder: Charming, jaded, driven, blasé, dogged, noble and reflective.

 photo WC2hexBSbysb_zpsf62018c9.gif

To me Scarlett Calera, Scar is a completely different person from part 1’s feisty and witty girl. She is timid, scared and secretive. Yes, there are mitigating circumstances, but I am hoping she will be back to her old self in part 3.

Wildcard, Volume II reads at a pleasant pace. My only wish for old Scar and for Ryder to sound more British. Story ends with a scary cliffy. I look forward to part 3, Wildcard: Volume III for the conclusion of their story.

A mixture of steam, romance, suspense and hilarious situations! Overall an entertaining and feel-good read! Ryder carries the story with his wit, sarcasm and over-the-top personality!

This part started when the previous one left off. It seems that our bad boy of tennis is now love-struck and since Scarlett treated him the way she did, he is quite miserable. He even tries to go back to his old habbits, but Scar is so deep in his head and heart that he leaves blonde bimbo high and dry, and mid blow I must add.

Scarlett might have a pretty good explanation for herself, so she finds Ryder and tries to do that. Ryder is pissed and doesn't want to listen to her, but can't resist this pull they have, so we are gifted with some fine angry sex!

After which, Ryder throws Scarlett out the door.

But Scar is consistent in clearing up the situation, she reappears and they work things out. We got to see softer and cuter Ryder, such a sweetie and cuddler, who would have thought, huh?

We may seem to have a happy ending, but unfortunately, no. There's a new player introduced, Jake's ugly dada, who is threatening Scarlett. I think that honest conversation with Ryder would make things easier for Scar, but she decides to take care of everything herself. And I still wonder what the bastard has on her... Anyway, instead of trusting in Ryder, she makes a very bad decision, that I have a feeling will backfire in her face sooner or later.

I liked this part, it was softer than the first one, and more steam wouldn't hurt, but still good. I will be looking forward to see how the manwhore reformed will manage to get everything straight.

I have one "but" though, their love story started thanks to the letter written by little Jake and seriously, where'd he go?

Wildcard, Volume Two is the second book in a three-part serial story about a British Tennis superstar.

The end of volume one left us with a cliff-hanger concerning Scarlet... What did it all mean? The answers are waiting in this volume which picks up where we left the last episode of Wildcard. Ryder's trip to America has not turned out as he'd planned. His usual Midas touch with the ladies is failing him and most importantly he DOES NOT WANT TO RISK GETTING HURT. His heart is at stake and he needs to protect.

We learn more about Scarlet, her background and the problems she's facing in her life. She's in a dire situation. We see her inner struggles over what she should share and what she should keep to herself.

In this volume I felt Scarlet lacked a little of the spark that I loved her for in the first part. I wasn't always convinced of her thought process, and the money...? However it's fiction so I'm going with the flow and completely enjoying myself with this serial story, and the best thing about Wildcard is, of course, the hero.... Ryder

Ryder is the same confident, sexy guy we got to know and love in volume one. I love his down to earth nature and witty, sarcastic sense of humour. He's cocky and a little bit arrogant but packaged in an appealing way that I totally warmed to. Ryder is British and I loved the touches of British-ism dotted around the text with words like bloke, taxi and wankers. His British-ism was much more apparent to me in this volume but without being overplayed. There is nothing worse to me than when a character from the UK becomes a cliché . And yes, in case you were wondering, I am a Brit, so all of this is pretty important to me. ♥

This edition of WILDCARD gave me some laugh out loud moments, a little angst and super HOT sex, a lovely combination.

There are some truly delicious moments.

Decisions are made by Ryder and Scarlet and I can't wait to discover where these decisions lead us. I have everything crossed for their happy-ever-after.

Wildcard is an entertaining, LOVELY read for lovers of love and romance and sexy HOT heroes.

Wildcard: Volume 2 was great installment in this novella series. It answered all our questions of what happened after the cliffhanger in the first novella, and of course left us with a few more questions and theories of whats to come!

Ryder is in the US. He came for Scarlett but we all know how that went…
She told me to leave. How could I have gotten it so wrong? She lied to me.

 photo f7fcb3b2-ed8b-44f9-99cb-75e7e10fa9af_zpsf5c3182a.jpg

Ryder has no idea what to do now. He feels betrayed. Going back to his old ways (or attempting to) isn’t helping. He can’t get that girl out from under his skin. And he’s not sure if he wants to.

Scarlett knows she messed things up with Ryder. But there are things in her past that he doesn’t know. Things that we as readers don’t know. She wants to protect him. Protect him from her mistakes, her regrets.
Everyone does things they regret, I’m no exception.

 photo 4afbe814-01d8-4793-920e-1859477e24b9_zps8ceb537d.jpg

Scarlett and Ryder eventually start to come back to one another. And their chemistry is still crazy hot! But the issues with her ex and her past are still looming around them…

I have come to really enjoy this novella series. Ryder has grown on me so much. I remember the first little bit of Volume one- I didn’t love this guy. Now I completely adore him. The Wildcard series is full of drama, humor and steam. I’m excited(and a bit nervous) to get to volume 3 and see how everything is tied up!

 photo 6cc54034-752f-438f-8653-13fda1ed8081_zpsabc67e1e.jpg
“I think you should know I have what every girl wants…”
His voice is low and sexy. I feel my nipples grow hard under my T-shirt.
“You’re very sure of yourself,” I say with a giggle. I won’t admit that he’s right. He does have what I want. He is what I want.

This next installment has our Ryder trying to mend his broken heart.
He is feeling completely lost and betrayed by Scarlett.
Ryder can't seem to get his mind off of her.
He tries to go back to his bad boy whoring ways but he's got Scarlett on his brain and no one can seem to help him forget her.

Eventually Scarlett will reach out to Ryder and at first he is a complete prick to her but damn, that sex scene was HOT!!!
She definitely has her reasons for her ex being at her place but is not exactly giving up all the details. He has something on her that he is blackmailing her with.

I liked this one but thought it needed to be a little longer.
Also the sex scenes were smoking HOT but I wished we had a few more thrown in there and I missed little Jake. Was wondering how Scarlett could just leave him with her friend while she was hold up in Ryder's hotel room, getting some hot and heavy sex with him.

Can't wait for the last installment!!

Volume II picks up where the cliffhanger in Volume I left us. Ryder has gone from being the player to feeling like he is being played. Finally finding his match in Scarlett and he is set to win her heart. The former player, Ryder, has grown a heart and has fallen in love with Scarlett's son. He's willing to risk a lot to have the advantage and favor in this relationship.

"EVERYONE DOES THINGS THEY REGRET, AND I'M NO EXCEPTION."

Scarlett has a secret and it's tearing her apart. Fear and regret are ruling her actions. Her gut reaction is to keep her secret quiet. The threat of this secret has the reader anticipating the next volume of this serial.

Did you notice what I did - used tennis terms (player, match, set, win, love, advantage, gut).

4 "Secrets are NEVER Good" Stars!!

In Wildcard: Volume 1, we met sexy manwhore & cocky asshole, Ryder Stevens. He was the #1 ranked tennis player in the world but his off the court antics found Ryder with a broken arse. While recovering from his injury, Ryder starts up a long distance friendship with American, single-mother, Scarlet Calera. Ryder does the uncharacteristic action of getting Scarlet's son, Jake, into a clinical trial in England for his medical condition. What starts out as a flirtatious friendship turns into a sizzling "maybe" relationship. Volume 1 ended in Ryder surprising Scarlet in America, but it's Ryder who ends the one surprised!!

Volume 2 picks right back up with Ryder heartbroken and trying to move on from Scarlet. However, Ryder can't seem to get Scarlet out of his head. Scarlet comes to explain to Ryder what he saw the night he surprised her -- that things were not as they seemed. A heated argument turns into a sizzling moment in no time, leading to more feelings of confusion and frustration.

description

Once Ryder and Scarlet are working things out and moving forward, the sexual chemistry between these two is back and IT IS HOT!!

"He watches as I unclasp my bra. A shiver races through me as he stares at my breasts. My nipples harden."Fucking beautiful," he mutters.
I lift my hand, running my finger over my panties. I groan at the wetness of my pussy, as his cock throbs against my thigh. All I want him to do is bury himself inside me.

While Ryder and Scarlet look to have worked things out, Ryder senses that Scarlet is holding something back. Will Scarlet's secrets tear them apart for good? What happens if Jake tries to take manners into his own hands without Scarlet's knowledge?

So why 4 stars you're probably wondering? I missed feisty Scarlet who was an independent single-mother!! I wasn't at all prepared for the damsel in distress that Scarlet appeared to be in this volume. I like strong heroines and so that is what was missing from the story for me. I will confess that this DID NOT stop me from devouring this volume right up!! It delivered all the schmexy times I loved in the first Book and what's NOT to love when it comes to Ryder!! Volume 3 appears to have quite a lot in store for us!! It is scheduled to be released on September 30th.

After that cliffhanger ending of the first volume, I could not wait to dive into the next part of the series. I was left wondering what was really going on with Scarlett and what she was hiding. In this part, we get to find out the answers.

'Everyone does things they regret, and I’m no exception.'

If you read the first part, then you know that Ryder is now in the US. He was there to mentor a young tennis player, and of course, he was there to see Scarlett. But things went down hill when he sees Scarlett. Ryder is furious at her for making him feel so much pain. He want her to feel the same way. It was so terrible seeing him hurt her, he was such a jerk. But despite all that, he still cares about her. It was just annoying that he wouldn't hear her out so she could explain.

Scarlett want him to know the truth, even if he doesn't take her back. After Ryder finds out the truth, they get back together and things are just as smoking hot between them as they always have been. Ryder knows that Scarlett is still keeping something from him, and he is determined to help her. He wants Scarlett and her son to be safe and to not live in fear.

I really enjoyed this second part but it wasn't as intense in steam as the first one. Some things went a little too fast for me. Scarlett was alright to me in this part, but I liked Ryder better in this one, even if he was a jerk. The story line was quite interesting and I enjoyed the drama. I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Volume 2 picks up right where Volume 1 ends. Lies, Fears, Humiliation, Anger, Hurt. All these emotions are felt at the beginning. Ryder believes that Scarlett has lied to him and he is beyond angry and hurt. Scarlett's fears and silence get the best of her but decides that she owes Ryder the truth. She has to make his see she didn't mean to break his heart.

Volume 2 is filled with some seedy aspects of Scarlett's past. She doesn't want to involve Ryder but she has fallen in love with him. She can't let him go, even if it's for the best. She will do what she needs to do in order to rid herself of the filth of her past. Ryder has fallen in love with Scarlett and her son as well. He knows she is hiding something but he decides that maybe he needs to step in and help her with her problem. The more he learns about her problem, he knows it will not be an easy fix. Ryder finds out that there is something that will ruin Scarlett's life and that of her son if it gets out. Will he be able to handle the situation? Will Scarlet and Ryder be able to overcome Scarlett's past? Will they each make matter's worse? What about Jake and his medical condition? Still so many unanswered questions.

Many twist and turns left for Scarlett and Ryder. I loved seeing these characters develop. Ryder is more that just the cocky, arrogant player he was in Volume 1. His feelings make him caring and loving and protective. Scarlett's past is like a noose to her neck. But her feelings for Ryder give her a sense of hope to get rid of her baggage. I look forward to seeing how this story ends and hope that Ryder and Scarlett and Jake end up with a HEA.

***3.5 a Wild Player Stars***

(Arc kindly provided by author in exchange for an honest review)

(BR with Mel and Patty)

So after that huge cliffhanger in the first book, the story continues as Ryder is mad at Scarlett, mad at himself and basically in very foul mood and nothing seems to help lift his spirits, no even a few nights of wild partying. Scarlett is deep inside him and as much as he wants to try to get rid of the feelings he has for her, nothing and no one can help him forget her. Fortunately for us, she comes back and tries to explain herself and even though the first time Ryder wasn't having none of her explanations, her reasons were genuine. Once they are able to talk things out, the hot sex marathon begins, these two can't keep their hands of each other and their sexcapades get intensely HOT!!!

 photo imagejpg1_zpsb92dcf40.jpg

As much as I love/lust Ryder the pace in this story seemed a bit inadequate and there were a lot of loose details that were not really justified in the plot. Another problem I keep having with this book is how relax was Scarlett as a mother, it just doesn't seem right for her to be that way, specially since her child is very ill. These are all minor details that could have been easily fixed, but they are not that severe that prevents the reader from enjoying this story. Im already very invested in this books and now more than ever I'm very anxious to read the conclusion to this very sexy tale of a reformed bad boy...

After four weeks together, Ryder is crazy about Scarlett. His tennis career is put on hold after his injury, and his sponsors set up an opportunity for him to be a mentor at a tennis camp in the US for 3 weeks. This camp is in Chicago, & he will be staying about 10 min. from where Scarlett lives.

 photo 19926caf-1c30-4cd0-b4e4-b90a6060f207.jpg

When Ryder arrives in Chicago he heads straight to Scarlett's to surprise her. When she opens the door & he see's another man there he jumps to conclusions. After she tells him to leave, he feels betrayed, used, & humiliated. He thinks she's lied to him, and he never wants to see her again. He decides relationships are too messy & complicated, & he just wishes he had stuck to casual sex with random women. It's straight forward, doesn't involve emotions, & can't break his heart.

 photo fcf11fc3-787c-4abe-9b59-fad39129d168.jpg

Ryder tries to go back to his old ways but just can't follow through. He can't quit thinking about Scarlett. Scarlett has some secrets from her past that her ex is blackmailing her with. She goes to Ryder to try to explain she isn't with her ex. It takes a few tries before Ryder finally listens to her & they work things out. Ryder knows her ex is holding something over her, but doesn't know what. He is still jealous & has trust issues, but ultimately wants to be with Scarlett & protect her.

 photo 07b6a953-e458-47bf-8a46-8f0164112595.jpg

As these two make up we get some very steamy scenes! Ryder is delicious as usual & the sex scenes were extremely hot!!! ;))

 photo ahemy.gif

As this book wraps up Ryder still isn't sure where his career is going. As his injury heals he is under pressure to make a decision about his future with tennis & decide if he's going to get back on the court. I look forward to seeing what Ryder plans to do with his future & what happens next with Scarlett's ex. Bring on book 3!!! :D

CLIFFHANGER:

This is the second installment in the Wildcard Series.

I was really looking forward to this book as the last book left us with a nasty cliffhanger!

We finally get some answer but the Author just made me ask more questions. I’m really forward to the third installment comes out on the 30th of September and I cannot wait to find out more.

Because this is a very short book this review will not be very long, as I don’t want to give away too much. But I will say one thing this book was DEFINITELY hotter than the first book.

This book starts where the first book left off! Ryder is not happy but he is stuck in the US for the next 3 weeks. He cannot play Tennis because he is still recovering from his little accident. He can’t seem to get Scar out of his mind, so he tries to drink her out of his mind, but nothing works. Scarlet gives him some answers but she doesn’t want to involve her in his problems. She tries to sort the problems out herself but Ryder cannot just sit back and wait so he investigates.

What will Ryder find out?? I hope to find out soon like the 30th of September 2014 soon haha!

This is my Ryder

Ahh yeah.

Ryder Stevens is definitely back and he is mucho pissed off.
*Spoilers from the 1st book, so beware*

So we left book #1 with Ryder surprising Scarlett in the US, only to be surprised at the dude that answers the door and appears to be a bit cozy with her. Ryder flips out and takes off. He attempts to go back to his hoochie pappa ways, only to find out how much he misses Scarlett.

So Scarlett FINALLY tracks Ryder down to explain the situation, because of course, all is not what it seems and she is just about to explain herself when all of a sudden...

Yes, angry sex, very angry, yet very hot.

But alas, no worries. Ryde and Scar get their shit together, followed by more monkey sex. Where this book shifts, is that now you got a cray cray baby daddy. Like way cray cray. He is holding something over Scarlett so there is a lot of drama and definitely more coming on that front in the next book.

On a sidenote...what happened to Jake? He was basically absent in this installment. I hope we get to see more of him next time.

Only other comment I have is

I read this book in an hour, and wanted MORE!!! So can't wait for book 3 in a few weeks. The cliffie ain't really that bad this time around, but I am still dying for the next installment. Definitely enjoying this serial!!

"Sometimes unexpected is good."

Poor Ryder is heart-broken.

For the first time is his life, he has lowered his defenses and let someone in his heart.

And all she did was shredding it into pieces, letting the wind blow them away.

Now Ryder has to forget all about this cruel woman and go back to being his old self.

But it's not that easy... Everything reminds him of her. No one is as perfect as her. All he thinks about is their limited happy times together. He is enraged and very devastated about what happened, but still, he is ready to hear her out...if she ever calls to explain, of course.

Meanwhile... Scarlett is desperate to talk to Ryder. To explain? Definitely. To apologize? If necessary...

You see, she has some secrets. Ones involving his a**hole of an ex-husband, ones that would end up ruining her simple but happy life with her son.

She can and will do anything to keep those secrets hidden.

For Jake.

So, a desperate Scarlett calls everyone she can think of to learn where Ryder is. Once she learns about his whereabouts, she goes straight to his hotel room to talk. But Ryder is pissed off and doesn't want to listen.

And in the heat of the moment....BAM!

***MIND-BLOWING ANGRY SEX***

And then Ryder makes a d*ck move: He throws her out.

But Scarlett is determined. After ugly-crying for awhile, she gets her big-girl panties on and demands Ryder that he listen to him.

And they make up. Just like that.

Ryder is a very patient and understanding man, I guess.

I, for one, would have demanded her to spill every single thing out and still would have thought for a second about whether I was willing to forgive that person or not. But that's just me, apparently.

Moving on...

I wonder what Jake's "worst-daddy-of-the-year" winner biological father has on Scarlett. It's still a mystery and I can't wait to learn what this horrible man could possibly be dangling in front of her that might result in Scar losing Jake.

There's a lot going on at the end of the book, most of which could go very VERY wrong.

Now, I'll have to patiently wait for Book #3.

*sigh*

This is Volume two in this serial, and I am definitely hooked and enjoying the storyline.
It looks like Scarlett has some major explaining to do to Ryder. There are some secrets we find out; but of course; with the revelations..more questions emerge! By the end of this short story, there are some major questions that I have; which means that I NEED to read the last installment! LOL That is the joy of serials though, isn't it?!

I will say that I surprisingly have fallen in love with Ryder. He may have been a huge manwhore in the beginning of this trilogy; but his character development is a pleasure to watch! He truly is coming in to his own, and he is slowly showing that he is a man of major worth! I am for sure loving his transformation. Scarlett though, I am hoping that she is going to improve in the final book. There are some things that she is doing that is really irking me. Main one being that she is hiding things from Ryder. That is so not ok with me..Especially, how he steps up to the plate for her. So, I am going to hope that she is going to surprise me and become a heroine that I can like.

Another great read from Missy Johnson!! I would say that she is an author to keep our eyes on..Her work so far has been very enjoyable, and I look forward to what she will bring to the table in her future!! This serial is a great addition to my favorites library!

☆☆☆☆ 4 Wildcard Stars ☆☆☆☆

Right off the opening page, we pick off where we last left off in Volume 1. Ryder is back in the States and is pissed off to see that Scarlett is with another man. Who is this mystery man? Hurt and angry, Ryder tries to forget Scarlett but just couldn't do it. When Scarlett shows up on his doorstep, he couldn't deny his longing for her. Truths of who that man is revealed. But as Scarlett and Ryder begins this uncharted new territory of their relationship, past secrets Scarlett tried hard to forget and keep hidden soon begins to surface. What secrets will Ryder unravel?

Match point for Missy Johnson!! She has done it again and left her readers begging for more after reading Wildcard Volume 2. In this second installment, questions of who the mystery man is are answered. But of course, Missy had to tease her readers with another cliffhanger ending begging the question what is Scarlett hiding? I can't wait for the third and final volume of this series.

AHHHH!!!!!

This book continues where Scarlett and Ryder left off.

Ryder is pissed and hurt so what does he do, leaves town for a few days, trying to figure out a way to get Scarlett out of his head and heart.

When he heads back to complete his 3 week tennis mentoring, he can't help but be shocked when Scar appears at his hotel door. When she tries to explain, he does what he's wanted, to hurt her, what better way then to fuck her and send her packing?

But Scarlett doesn't give up, she needs him to understand, but will he understand the secret she's hiding? She reaches out to him, but is she able to come completely clean or does Ryder need to do his own snooping to figure things out?

When the two don't communicate like they should disaster can happen...but at what cost?

AHHHH I need book 3 Now!!!

Great series! A must read!!!

I enjoyed this second installment of WILDCARD... but woah.

This installment starts us right off after the 1st. You see Ryder hurt, angry and even trying to do some damage to forget the one woman he let in... but he can't, he can't do anything without thinking about her.

But he does do something completely shocking if you ask me in this one.. and it saddened me... :( But that's Ryder. lol

We find out who the mystery man is in this installment but Missy does leave us wondering... what does this man officially have on her? What could it be? Could/can Ryder accept it? Can they have a future?

This installment was done in typical Missy style.... hot, sexy, mean, brooding.. suspenseful and makes you want more! more more more!

I can't wait to see what surprises will be in store for us for the last/final installment on the 30th!! Can't wait!!

Love this installment and love that I was able to BETA for the author and get ARC for an honest review.

So here's the continuation of Ryder's story.
After volume 1 that left us with super cliffy ending, this book tells us about who actually the guy in Scarlett's house is.

But I too bad, I think this part is not as great nor as exciting as volume 1. I was soooo excited to read this though なく

And the ending is just like the volume one, cliffhanger...

I can't wait for the closure of Ryder and Scarlett story! I hope in the next book there will be more Jake-Ryder interaction. I love those two.

Continuing on from Volume 1, we see Ryder totally out of his comfort zone, but attempting to embrace it.

As his recovery continues to make slow progress, he makes a decision to spend the summer in the US assisting at a tennis camp. The fact that it happens to be close to Scarlett is an obvious positive.

But things don't go to plan, and the fallout introduces an interesting story. Misunderstandings, betrayal, secrets, reveals..How will it all end?

Loved it, especially being inside Ryder's head. He is a great character..come on September 30th!!

After that hold-your-breath cliffhanger that we were left with on Volume 1, we get to find out Scarlett's "secret" in this installment. Well, sort of. We find out who that guy is and his role in Scarlett's life. We also get to meet a whole new side to our charming British guy, Ryder Stevens.

In Volume 1, we met a slutty, charming, don't-care-about-anything hotshot tennis player, Ryder Stevens. That unfortunate night he injured himself was a life changing experience altogether. It led him to mother and son, Scarlett and Jake, who made quite an impact on how he lives his life. Scarlett, in Volume 1 was witty, tough and dreamless. Even though she's a single parent and her son is ill, she was strong and determined to provide for both of them and as much as I admire her determination, I liked her even more for accepting someone's help for her son without too much fight. It's selfless to set aside your pride to get the help your son needs.

Now in Volume 2, I read a whole new side to Ryder and Scarlett. Of course, Ryder was still his cocky self but with a touch of protectiveness this time around. He made me love him even more, especially after that d*ck move he did when Scar tried to explain, when he showed how deeply her cares for Scarlett and Jake's well-being and safety. He's not all talk and no action. He started being more sensitive and aware of Scarlett's actions and now talks to her first before assuming anything. However, this is not the same with Scarlett. She was somewhat carefree in the first installment, this time, there's more to her story that she lets on. She explained things to Ryder but she wasn't upfront about everything. In her desire to keep Ryder safe and not be included in her problems, she kept a secret and yeah, we're also not in on what that is also. I'm guessing that one will unfold in the 3rd and final volume which is coming out in a week and I'm looking forward to it already!

After reading Wildcard, Volume 2, it's clear to me that the person who could send Ryder and Scarlett's relationship into turmoil is actually Scarlett. Sure, Ryder comes with his own set of issues, but it's been pretty obvious since he started this thing with Scarlett that she does something to him that nobody else has before. He wants more than one night with her...more than just sex. He may not be good at a relationship, but he's not scared away from pursuing what he wants. Scarlett, on the other hand, is a ticking time bomb. She has a past that is creeping back up on her, and it, or should I say he, won't go away until she's paid up. Scarlett is keeping both Ryder and readers in the dark about what her ex has on her, but one thing's for sure, it has to be pretty bad if she's willing to take extreme precautions to keep her secret from being exposed. Ryder knows she's hiding something big, but she doesn't want his help...too bad she isn't going to have a choice because he won't allow her to struggle like she is when he can do something to help. When Volume 2 ends, both Ryder and Scarlett are scrambling to fix her problem albeit with differing tactics, and it's too soon to tell if either of their plans will garner the results necessary to allow Scarlett to move on with her relationship with Ryder and keep her son safe and healthy.

Wildcard, Volume 2 offers both Ryder and Scarlett's perspectives, which allows readers to understand how both are feeling as they work to make a relationship work amidst the chaos of Ryder's stardom and Scarlett's issues with her ex. Ryder and Scarlett definitely have chemistry and help keep each other steady, but where there's a breakdown with them is in terms of their ability to communicate, which, in the end, might cost them everything they're working towards.

I can't wait for Volume 3 to see how Ryder handles a certain news reporter, and what happens with Scarlett's plan to force her ex out of the picture. One thing's for sure, it's going to get a hell of a lot more complicated before anything gets settled not only between Ryder and Scarlett but also in terms of Ryder's career.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

As much as serials annoy me because of the cliffhanger aspect, Ms. Johnson definitely knows how to write a good serial. Thankfully, she also released part two in a timely manner so that I was able to read it without having to go back and reread part one. By that I mean that when the story opens with Ryder mentally cursing Scarlett I was able to recall the end of volume one with ease.

While Ryder does give Scarlett the opportunity to explain who “the guy” is, he doesn’t do it before taking his metaphorical pound of flesh. This brings me to the only issue I actually had with the story. I cannot imagine any woman, much less Scarlett, being able to rationalize Ryder’s behavior toward her and “forgive” him so quickly. Ryder, at least, has some residual mistrust of her once they’ve reconciled over the issue and that she refuses to explain the situation seems to justify his mistrust.

Wildcard: Volume Two ups the drama for the series. I want to know what Scarlett did that has her ex blackmailing her. I can’t wait to see what happens with the person at the other end of the cell phone. Is Ryder going to accomplish anything with the ex now that he’s involved himself? Can Scarlett and Ryder maintain the passion between them? Seriously, the sex between these two is HOT! So many questions. Fortunately all should be answered in two to three weeks when Wildcard: Volume Three is released. I am looking forward to it already – the sign of a successful serial.

This was a super quick read. I wanted so much more, I have so many questions!!

I love Ryder. He's a bit of a bad boy, but sweet and sexy.

Ryder's hurt, pissed off, and thinks of himself as a fool. Ryder finally decided to open up to someone and she played him for a fool. Now he's stuck in the US for a month. He's surprised to see Scarlett at his door, will he listen to reason. listen to her explanation? Can he believe what she is telling him or is there more to her past than he realizes?

I can't wait to get the next volume. I need to know what is going on!!!!

Favorite Quotes:

“Charlotte struts toward us like she’s walking on a Paris runway. She flips her silky, golden hair over her shoulder, aware that every set of eyes in the place is on her. Guys want to shag her, and girls want to kill her.”

My Review:

Lots of things are going on in this volume, which is more suspenseful and dramatic, with just a few sensual scenes to keep the drool level up. The story continues to hold my interest and I am anxious for the final installment. I generally don’t follow series novellas, but this one is moving along well, and the installments are coming quickly enough that I may not forget all the important details before the conclusion, which is always the gamble, for me at least. Bring it on.

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."

This book, the second in the Wildcard adventure is a whirlwind read. The reader is catapulted backwards and forwards, changing allegiances as the story unfolds. I really enjoyed it - but I NEED the final episode asap!!

DO read these in order, and enjoy both a fun, moving and sexy tale of two people who (hopefully) will get themselves sorted out by the end of book 3. There is a lot more to uncover, I have no doubt!

This picks up immediately after the cliffhanger ending of volume one, with Ryder furious with Scarlett for lying to him.

There's lots of sex as Scarlett finally comes clean and as in the first volume, we get the story in alternating fp povs so we quickly learn that Scarlett still has more issues than she's telling Ryder about. At that point the story took an unwelcome turn into dodgy B movie territory that did nothing for me. I just wasn't feeling the jeopardy or tension in the situation at all.

It was a relatively quick read, but the plot has lost my interest and neither of the main characters are unique enough or have enough chemistry to make me interested in how things end up so I don't think I'll be reading any more of this series.
