Oracle of Fate stands out as a heartfelt and original YA paranormal romance, even for readers who haven’t read the first two books in the Angels of New York State series. Zachary Jeffries crafts a compelling story around Mark, a teenage oracle grappling with terrifying visions of the apocalypse, and Bazrael, a fallen angel learning how to be human—and how to love.

Even without prior context, the story is easy enough to follow, with just enough background to get invested in the characters. Mark’s inner conflict and Bazrael’s struggle to adapt to the human world are emotionally resonant, and their slow-building relationship is sweet without feeling forced. The supernatural elements are imaginative and add real stakes to the romance.

That said, a few things held it back from being a full 5-star read. The book contains noticeable grammatical and typographical errors, which were distracting at times and pulled me out of the story. Some plot threads also felt a bit rushed or underdeveloped—likely because this is the final book in a trilogy—but even so, the emotional arc between the two leads carried the story well.

Overall, Oracle of Fate works as a standalone for fans of queer YA books, angels, and end-of-the-world tension wrapped in tender romance. It’s flawed, but memorable—and definitely worth the read.
