Torch and Isis. I liked Isis a lot more than Torch. He was OK but seemed like more of a token MC. Isis had more depth. I liked the first guy she dates better. But anyways, it starts out kinda slow and so I set it aside for a while. But the last 3rd really picks up and becomes action packed with political intrigue and a daring rescue. Torch really steps up to the plate in the end. Almost an opposites attract theme in that Isis's power is cold while Torch's is... well you can guess. This made the sex pretty hot, pun intended! Isis is royalty on the run from her relatives and the expected arranged marriage to a douche bag prince. She finds her hiding place as a fighter for inter-galactic cage fighting. There she meets Torch. She mostly stays unattached and is slow to make friends because she is laying low and also because of the way she grew up after her parents died. So the onus is on the men aboard ship to make the moves. Overall this was a fun read.

Torch is the seventh book in KD Jones Galactic Cage Fighters series. Each book can be read as a stand alone story but the series does feature recurring characters.

Both Torch and Isis are halfsie fighters for the Galactic Cage Fighter organization. Isis fled her home planet and is enjoying her freedom. Torch joined the organization to be closer to his niece Angel. Both Torch and Isis are attracted to each other but resist the attraction at first. I really enjoyed this installment in the series. I like how KD Jones slowly built up their relationship, no insta-love here. Some drama is thrown into the mix but not too much to distract from the romance. Highly recommend!!!

Stilted, awkward, emotionally disconnected, difficult to see the connection between the mc's. I get the premise-they already know each other, they were fighting their attraction to each other, so we missed the beginning of the story when they met, and thats fine. But the story is bare bones emotionally. It's hard to understand why they actually love each other. I've read all of this author's books, and I know she is capable of much better. At this point we should be seeing literary growth, not a reversal in talent. Bleh.

Fire and ice

I enjoyed this book much more than I thought I would. Torch has not been the nicest character. He's also abrasive & has a smart mouth. Isis is sweet and beautiful, but very shy and naive. This did not change how STEAMING HOT they are together. Her betrothed tries to reclaim her, but there is something between Isis & Torch that he doesn't know yet. Well worth reading.
