Thank you Sharon J for recommending this series to me. This was an amazing read. Samantha Young is one of my favourite authors. I love many of the books that I have read from her. I really love this series. Also, I thought that the story was more entertaining than the first book. Also, I really loved Jai and Ari. They are really great characters. I did like how Charlie was more likeable in this book than in book 1. That was a nice change. I thought the ending was great. I can’t wait to read book 3. Overall, an incredible read.

WOW!! I mean, could these books get any better??? YES!!!
Scorched Skies is absolutely amazing!! From beginning to end, you are dying to know what happens and now that I have reached that end, the next book can't get here fast enough...
Ari, Jai, and Charlie's lives pick up where Smokeless Fire ended and within this book you get to see so much growth out of each of these characters. And these characters don't deal with small battles or small emotional dramas, they are hit with big, life altering, WHAMMEES!!! But, I like that b/c we get to see each character experience it in their own way and tug along with them down whatever path they choose. How do these characters grow? What experiences do they go through? You are going to have to find out on your own....Heads up though, make sure you find time to do nothing but read...
Scorched Skies does not leave you empty either. There is so much action, suspense, twists and turns, deceit, loyalty, friendships, romance, and with all of this you are turning each page dying to know what is going to happen next. I am so impressed with this series. Samantha Young is a great writer. She knows how to build a fantastic world that you feel yourself wrapped up in and characters that you get emotionally attached to.
A DEFINITE MUST READ!!!

As much as I loved the first book, I love this one even more. It expanded on magic (including its consequences), made Charlie a more sympathetic character (which was good because I honestly didn't like him much at first), and the relationships worked themselves out in a way that I felt wasn't too rushed or too drawn out for drama's sake. It also expanded on the world and made me ask many more questions as well as wildly speculate, which is fun! My only complaint is that after devouring this book, I'm back again to twiddling my thumbs for the next book in the series!

(Special thanks to Samantha Young for releasing the ebook version early, that surprise completely made my weekend!)

Just wow. The uniqueness, realness, and thrills that Samantha brings to this series always seem to blow me away. I adored this installment from beginning to end!

*Spoilers for Smokeless Fire below*

We start off right where we left off in Smokeless Fire. Ever since coming back from the hospital, Ari's dad is different and still very much reserved. Charlie is now a scorcer and trying to get Ari's attention. And Jai is still her body guard... and only that. When someone close to Ari is killed, the trio soon figures out that Ari is being hunted by a dark sorcerer. Everything Ari has ever known changes so quickly, and she is thrown into the Jinn world even more now. But, Ari isn't weak. And it's time she turned the tables and hunt those who are trying to destroy her.

Goodness, I heart this series so much. Taking an adventure with a concept that is new to you is always so engaging and enchanting. With Scorched Skies, you're taken even more into the lore of Jinn that you may or may not know much about. And I love how Samantha kept switching view points. Sometimes from Ari, sometimes from Charlie, sometimes from Jai, and sometimes from other characters! And, even if it doesn't say "Jai", she does it in a way where you instantly know what characters eyes we're looking from and I loved it.

As always, I fell in love with our characters all over again. I'm so proud of Ari in Scorched Skies. The way that she takes control, is so strong, yet can still break down when she needs to. I even adored the way she handled the boy situation. Speaking of... Charlie is still that misguided, broken boy that I wanted to save. In Scorched Skies, we finally see the change that we always wanted in his feelings towards Ari. And I love Charlie, I really do... even If his priorities are sometimes not in the right place. There's just something about him, unf! On the other side is, Jai. Sexy protector that I adore! I absolutely loved that Samantha showed us his world in this book. Especially Trey! Oh my goodness I LOVED him! Send me a Trey ASAP! But back to Jai, each book you can just feel his love for Ari and you want to hit him for holding it back. Because, as much as I love Charlie, Jai is the one for Ari. He's the one who will love her completely and be there to protect her. You can't help but fall for him.

Overall, I was SO completely and totally happy with book two in the Fire Spirits series. And, I thought the ending was perfect! It was so satisfying, yet still thrilling and leaving you wanting the next one! One of the things I love is that Samantha doesn't wait until the final book to give you everything you're hoping for. And who knows what she'll have to offer in her upcoming books, but I know I'll be getting them as soon as they release!

Merged review:

The Gleaming King’s hybrid son, a sorcerer called Dalí, is hunting Ari, which means one more enemy to the poor Princess Jinn.
At the same time, she is struggling with her feelings for Jai and Charlie.
Ari comes to the conlusion that her time with Charlie has long passed and that she was in love with the person that he used to be. Now, he is not the same person anymore and neither is she. Her life has changed incredibly and now Jai is by her side and she loves him.
Jai loves her too but as he doesn't want to compromise his reputation with his father, he shows her only coldness and indifference.
Also, The White King keep trying to crush her, this time killing Derek, her human father.
Ari meets Jai’s family and starts to understand better why he is the way he is, while he keeps denying his feelings because, even though he was treated like crap, he still wants his father approval and respect.
Then something big happens and Jai figures out that he was an idiot and that he doesn't want to lose Ari, who cares the way his father never cared.
This book is as awesome as the first one!:D
You still feel that deep aching sadness because of everything that Ari lost and the fact that she keeps being rejected by everyone. She doesn’t even know who is telling her the truth and who is lying.
I was a bit pissed with Jai because he kept hurting Ari, rejecting her, even though he clearly loves her, just because his son of a bitch of a father who doesn’t even love him. But whatever, guys are like that I’m glad he saw the light! They are finally together. Hooray! :D
I really love Trey, Jai's best friend! He rocks! :D
Now, I am dying to know who the hell Ms Maggie is. Could it be Sala, Ari's mother?

Scorching! Having the adult POV is definitely worth it for these sexy scenes. Reading it from Ari's POV was a bit fluffy but Jai really was more direct with his feelings. LOL, I was afraid he was going to self-combust, he was in such a fire!

Definitely a must read if you were dissatisfied with the events of book 2. This will give you something to tie you over until you read book 3. :)

**3.5 stars**

Scorched Skies is one of those books where you understand where the characters are coming from but you still find their behavior annoying. It’s centered around Ari’s relationships and the pain of rejection and loss. Her father makes a terrible confession that hurts her deeply and she has to deal with the fallout. In this book, the conflicts with the love triangle are more prominent, as Charlie wakes up and realizes his feelings for Ari, at the time when she turns her eye towards Jai.

The conflict in this book is not as exciting as the first one because a lot of the action centers around the emotional turmoil. I wanted to pummel Jai until he was blue in the face. If I known more of his thought process, maybe I would have been more patient with him but I felt so bad for Ari. I was really glad when she decided to be in charge of her destiny.

This author definitely knows how to write sexual tension. Even though this was YA and all, you could almost see sparks flying when Jai and Ari where in the same room. If you want to get the adult version of the club scene, just read it from Jai’s POV – I don’t mean that it was explicit, just that listening to Jai’s thoughts and feelings on the matter made everything more raw. Definitely a must read if you were dissatisfied with this book as I was. This will give you something to tide you over until you read Borrowed Ember.

Loved this continuation to this series! I liked it better than the first, I think. A lot happens. I could not put it down; from beginning to end. So many things are not going as Ari ever expected them to be. Having her father finally be honest with her after finding out the truth about what she is, he tells her he wishes he had been there more for her and basically only kept her because it was the only tie he had to Sala, Ari’s mom. That was hurtful to read/hear because it’s like telling her he didn’t love her for her but only cuz she reminded him of her mom, as if he had a hope that she’d come back and be with him. Then they get attacked, Ari knocked out and her dad killed in the attack. Trying to deal with her dad’s death and the hurtful truth of how he felt towards her, getting almost kidnapped right after the funeral, and later hashing it out with both Charlie and Jai about her feelings for each (not in the same room or with both of them together, now); plus knowing she is being hunted by someone who wants her ‘power’ of the Seal… my goodness, I was feeling exhausted just reading all of this. But it was so exciting, and to me Ari is such a strong character; she held it together. Every now and then her anger would get the best of her, but she reeled it in. I dint feel like there was a dull moment reading the book; the action was good, suspense, romance, and a betrayal from someone who is part of a group who is supposed to be protecting her and hiding her. And SO glad Jai FINALLY came to his senses about how he feels about Ari! If it had taken him longer I would have slapped some sense into him myself! (Thanks Trey for bringing him to see the light, lol). I can’t wait for the 3rd book; frustrating we gotta wait a few months, but glad it’s not a whole year! =D

This book was on my kindle for a long time (2 weeks or something. That's long for me.) before I finally started reading it. I was pretty disappointed in the first book in the series so I wasn't really motivated to start the sequel.
Turns out I liked the sequel even less than the first book. Ari was super annoying all the time, complaining about Jai and Charlie, her situation in general and everything else, too. She expected everyone to do what she wanted them to and sulked when they didn't. She even managed to be more immature than ever, bitching about Jai "ordering her around" when all he did was trying to save her sorry ass.
Jai was stupid as ever, and Charlie was so silly at times I wanted to throttle him. The only characters I care about as of now are probably the Red King and Ms Maggie.
I'll read the third volume too but so far I'm really disappointed by how this turned out.

I love this series! Ari is just so much fun and such a dedicated friend...her sarcastic personality is right up my alley and I just want to go hang out with her.

The pop culture references are subtle yet funny....and Jai and Ari's verbal foreplay is so charming and fun. Overall love this series (of course anything by author is fabulous)

Eagerly awaiting Borrowed Ember!

The second book in Samantha Young’s Seven Kings of Jinn series, this book was originally published in 2012 as ‘Scorched Skies (Fire Spirits, #2)’, but has now been renamed, re-edited and rereleased, and continues Ari’s journey as a newly-discovered Jinn (genie), finding her way in a whole new supernatural world.

Ari is still coming to terms with her new supernatural powers, and the magical world that she has become a pivotal part of. Her best friend, Charlie, and her Jinn guardian, Jai, are both by her side to help, but her complicated past with Charlie, and her growing feelings for Jai are causing conflict.

When tragedy strikes, her romantic dramas are the least of her problems as she discovers that she has become a target. Not only does the White King want her, but a new enemy has emerged, a sorcerer who wants Ari’s power, and he doesn’t care who gets in his way.

There’s a lot going on in this book, with enemies all around, Ari having strange dreams, and the aforementioned romantic drama. Yes, it’s a love triangle, but also sort of not. We, and Ari, know where her heart truly lies, it’s just a matter of wading through awkward encounters with both boys while we watch it all to play out.

Jai continues to be supremely awesome – badass and closed off, but with enough heated staredowns with Ari to keep things interesting. And Charlie is following his own path of vengeance, creating an interesting side story that ties in well with Ari’s journey.

There’s action, intrigue, mystery and just a touch of romance, and it’s all go from start to finish. There’s a lot to take in, and I’m still finding this world a little tricky to wrap my head around – so many characters and powers, and a complicated lore. I finished this book only a couple of days ago, but already the details are a little murky.

This series isn’t grabbing my attention like Young’s other work, and that’s unusual both as a lover of Samantha’s writing, as a mad fan of paranormal romance. But I’m intrigued enough to carry on with the series, and with some big developments at the end of this book, I’m keen to see where the story goes next.

3 stars.

Very entertaining. Samantha Young is one of my favorite authors and she never disappoints me. Very well written, funny and enjoyable. I’ve had a good time reading this book.
I really liked that new characters are introduced and seems like some of them are going to be quite important for Ari’s story. But what intrigued me the most are some of the characters of the previous book, like Ms. Maggie and Red. They’re a mystery, but I see them from a different light now.

Ari is forced to grow up very fast and face some serious changes in her life in this book. I like that she doesn’t give up and that she’s stronger than she thinks, but also vulnerable and emotional. Her powers are developing and next book is going to be quite interesting.

Jai and Charlie, Charlie and Jai. I don’t know what to make of them. Looks like they’re both insisting on not hurting Ari but hurting her at the same time. I admit that I was “team Jai” in the previous book, but now I’m “team Charlie”. Anyway, I’m not a big fan of love triangles, but if you like them, you’re going to love this book.

First things first: THIS BOOK WAS...

You know there was a time I wanted to be a witch (coz they’re freaking awesome) werewolf/lycan/shifter (seriously who wouldn’t want to be one?) then I wanted to be a nephilim (seriously? I don’t have to justify that...), oooooh then there was angels (yeah I’m pretty sure being devil’s incarnate does not qualify for this), then there was fey, warriors, necromancers and so forth BUT now I am a 100% sure that I want to be Jinn!!! Ok so who wouldn’t want to be one after reading this book especially if you get guys like Jai...
Come to think of it, Jai reminds me of Jace (from Cassandra Clare’s Immortal instruments series), you know the brooding and all that hotness intensified/personified plus all that capability and asshole-ness, obviously you know you can’t help but love them.
What I’m should have said before I caught up with Jai was that Samantha Young’s characters are worth fawning over, Caia and Lucien then Eden and Noah and now Ari and Jai. Young’s intricate details in her books definitely got me wanting more!

The book starts off with Ari’s dream followed by her confronting her dad who’s become a recluse. Then she reflects on her feelings for Jai who gives her the news that there are consequences to the magic she uses. Suffice to say, Ari’s dad is not really in the picture after the first few chapters they find out a sorcerer named Dali who happens to be a cousin of Ari, who is after her. Ari, Jai and Charlie are soon in LA with Jai’s family for protection. There’s also a the little fact that Charlie is a sorcerer now, since he made the wish he has to learn how to control his powers and so does Ari but first they need to learn how to fight. Together Ari, Charlie and Jai try to sort their love problems out all while staying alive at the same time. Of course they also have the help of the Red King.

I have to say that I truly liked Ari’s character, especially when she told Charlie she’s not in love with him in the beginning, it was quite admirable that she didn’t string him along, you know the I-can’t-have-the-guy-I-want-so-I-will-settle-for-this-guy then followed by the I-have-to-break-your-heart-now-because-I-can-be-with-the-guy-I-really-want. The fact that she didn’t encourage/lead-him-on, Charlie like some other heroines we all know (Bella and Rose namely) was great because I’m sick of that happening. Another remarkable thing about this books is that it captures you attention from the beginning (not at all surprising since Young is an awesome writer) and it doesn’t only focus and hold your attention to the love story but the folk lore as well. I think that you would agree Young has a way with folk lore in her books that you can’t help be fascinated with it. as a reader you would want to change certain things about a book most of the time (obviously those aren’t 5 star books) but I find that Young does an excellent job prevents that from happening, so it’s safe to say this prose does not need work or the storyline either. It goes without say that I loved the book and it was definitely worth the weight.

This book was so amazing!! What an excellent way to continue the story of Ari, Jai and Charlie! I feel like I got so many answers in this book about the world of Jinn and the political games they play to get what they want. I loved getting to know the Clan side of it as well with the sorcerers using talismans and such to harness and store magic. It was so cool!!

The story itself starts out on a sad note and I was heartbroken for Ari through so much of the book. There were times I felt so bad, I had a huge lump in my throat :( I loved that Ari was able to grow so much even amid all the hurt she had to endure. She felt like she was losing people she loved, never felt like enough and felt rejected... yet she pressed on. She decided to love even when she didn't feel loved, she cared even when it would have been easier to shut her emotions down. Once Ari decided to fight for herself, things fell into place beautifully and I LOVED it!! I LOVE Jai... holy crap, he's awesome!! I'm trying very hard not to give away any spoilers, but he grew a lot in this book too!! He had a lot of hurt and obstacles to overcome, but he finally realized what was important in the end. LOVE HIM!!!! Charlie worries me still... I do hope he will move on from Ari and come into his own. If his trial goes well, I hope he will be able to learn from it and proceed with caution regarding his plot for revenge. I did like him better in this book though, he seemed more human to me and I found myself sympathizing with him more than I did in book one.

I loved the new characters as well. Dali added a lot of excitement to the book even though he was being an idiot. I LOVED Fallon and was SO glad Ari got herself a read girl friend!! I definitely hope she sticks around on books to come. Trey too was amazing... how could you not like him?!

Then of course we have our returning characters... Red is a pretty cool uncle!! Even though no one (including myself) seems to know if he can be trusted, he still plays an invaluable role in Ari's life in this book and I think he's beginning to develop a bit of a soft heart where she's concerned :) Azazil worries me, but he'll always be a troublemaker. The White King is a question mark for me at times... I still wonder what he thinks he'll accomplish by getting Ari to come to him. Ari hates being bossed around, so I wonder what he thinks he'll get her to do?! Humm.... Then we have Ari's dreams... huge question mark there!!! I'm VERY curious to find out what they mean and why she's having them!! Also, Ms. Maggie... I'd love a background on her as well. Regardless of her reasons for being near Ari, she's proved to be a helpful little person to have around!!

So, again I wait for another masterpiece from Samantha Young. My only complaint about her books is that they aren't infinite. I get so lost in the worlds she creates, I don't want to come back to earth. There is pure, raw, amazing talent seeping out of Samantha Young... she's genius and I just love her!! Everyone should read her books!!! If I could give this book more stars, it'd have them all!! It was that good!!

This stunning sequel takes off at a run and sets your heart racing and sputtering at the stealth in which Samantha nails us with her first devastating blow. Ari's heart is once again broken and she's forced to go on the run to hide from her pursuers.
With the White King, among others, seeking to control Ari and the power of the Seal; it's a war against time, unlimited powers and unseen enemies. Betrayals and manipulations make it hard for Ari and Jai...and Charlie, to know who to trust or where to turn.
I did promise you heartache. And there is plenty. But there is also hope in unexpected alliances and new found friendships. Events change quickly and drastically, but Scorched Skies shows Ari and her entourage with more cunning, resourcefulness and confidence that only comes from personal growth and the best of training. Some very mature decisions are made amid the chaos as more doubts are raised and others are laid to rest. Realizations, denials and fears are met with new strength and reinforced bonds. That's not to say that those bonds are not challenged by those who will not stop until they have Ari and the Seal in their possession.
This story is as much about the growth among each of the characters as it is about the fate of one girl and the Seal of Solomon. Charlie must come to terms with his power, his need for revenge and his ties to Ari. Jai struggles with his honor and obligations to his family and the Jinn and his true feelings. Ari, well, she's got a lot to sort through and much more to learn.
Along with Ari, we get a deeper look into her history, the mythology of the first Jinn, Azazil, Lilif, mother of the Kings and how it ties back to Jai and his family. The delivery of the facts and discoveries is clever and ignites your need to know more about this fascinating race and the innate behaviors that drive them and future destinies.
Scorched Skies is as full of emotion and action as Smokeless Fire, but what's great about this sequel is getting to know Ari, Charlie and Jai that much better, watching them open up to possibilities and see the truth that lays in their hearts.
There are enough twists and turns to keep you on edge, fully engaged and turning the page anticipating what's next. Of course you never really see what's coming. That's the beauty of this story. Just when you think the crew might catch a break, find a resolution or have a chance to explore their relationships further...well, you can never really let your guard down, can you, Ari? That's usually when all hell breaks loose. And of course you have to end with a good cliffhanger. Which Sam does. I'm now dying for the release of Borrowed Ember. I have to know where this is going, where it all ends and if Ari and Jai find their happy ever after. They do, don't they?? You'll just have to wait (impatiently) with me and see.

This is like the best Jinn story ever! Ha! Okay considering this is my first Jinn story. Well if Aladdin doesn't count. Haha!

So many painful emotions! I think this is better than the first book because they bare it all! All of them showed what they really feel.

I really do love you, kid. I guess I just never loved you enough.

Ari's pain of being alone and no one to turn to was doubled over. It's like if i I was her? I might consider dying or something. I really pity her! First with the Charlie thing and Charlie actually confronting her about it is like "WTF?! Why now?! I was waiting for a long time and now that I've moved on you want to be with me NOW?!?!? Fuck that!" yeah i was feeling like that in this book. Plus the Derek death! He didn't love her ENOUGH! Plus the Jai rejection. I mean c'mon! The girl might be strong but that doesn't mean she's made of steel! She has emotions that can lead to her destruction! Which leads us to this quote...

I’m pissed off being the girl whose daddy didn’t love her enough, who’s best friend doesn’t love her enough… who Jai will never love enough to work out his crap and put it behind him.

talk about major OUCH! I mean look at how painful that is! Considering those 3 are the ones she has left! The more she pushes them away the more she's being more cold and left in the dark. She may have let Charlie go but she still loves him. For Jai, they are like rubber bands. They might stretch as far away from the other but they still keep coming back. Always pulling each other together. And every time that happens Ari always gets her heartbroken. That's just another scab to heal. Again can i say OUCH?!

I feel like a crumpled up piece of paper that has something really important written on it. But no one will ever know what that is because all they see is something that’s been discarded. I’m done feeling like that!

I knooow right! Someday someone will get that crumpled paper and will look what's inside.

They beat the shit out of you and he let it happen. For years. But she almost died to save you. There is a right and wrong choice here, Jai.

Yeah Jai, that's like the greatest love of all! Ha! Cheesy i know. But i love this drama!!!! She almost died out there for HIM! Who would be an idiot to pass that up and let her get away! She's like the answer to your loneliness, the one that makes your heart beat again. And --insert all the cheesy lines here-- love it!!!!

She saved my life. She took the hit… and the last thing she did was use her gift to command that kid to leave me alone. Why did she do that?

do you really have to ask??!?!?! Isn't it obvious enough???

Third book!!!! I'm hungry for youuuu! :)

Kurzbeschreibung

Well, let me just start by saying: Samantha Young, will forever be one of my favorite authors! She has amazing talent that seeps from the pages of her stories, drawing the reader into worlds that are fascinating and unique.

As Scorched Skies unfolds we get little glimpses of all the characters involved, we get to see how they think, which lends a helping hand in immersing the reader into the story. The mystery and intrigue continues from the first book, unraveling some old aspects and starting some new ones. There is never a dull moment. I was constantly in sweet, torturing agony as the romance picks up. I knew who I was voting for the whole time, but the question is: who were you voting for? Charlie or Jai?

We get further introduced to Trey, Jai's best friend, and I must say, he is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters in the story. We also get introduced to new characters, a better look at the 'political' side of the Jinn, have some suspicions rooted more deeply and get a slightly deeper look into Jai's childhood. The emotions are raw as we continue our adventure with Ari as she grows and accepts the responsibility that was thrust onto her. Scorched Skies will have you jumping out of your skin for Borrowed Embers!

There is quite literally no need for a longer or more in-depth review. Fans of Samantha Young will already be snatching up Scorched Skies and if you aren't already a fan, then what are you waiting for? Go buy Smokeless Fire and get started on this amazing adventure that you shouldn't miss out on!

I know I sound like a broken record by now, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Samantha Young!!!!! If you haven't read any of her books, you must be living under a rock. She is amazing!!! Every series is full of adventure and romance. She really knows how to capture the reader and take them to the world she has created for us to read. I have read almost all of her books and I have yet to find one that I dislike. I was beyond thrilled when I was able to read Scorched Skies and Borrowed Ember back to back.

Scorched Skies is the 2nd book in the Fire Spirits series and “wow”, just “wow.” So much happens in this book that I was like, OMG this poor girl has been through too much already, can she ever catch a break? Like the saying goes, “what doesn’t kill you will only make you stronger.” Well, in that case, Ari is one tough little cookie. Not only does she have to fear her evil farther, the White King, but now there is a new sorcerer in town and is on a mission to take Ari and the Seal, even if that means draining her of every last drop of her blood.

Ari starts to realize that she cares for Charlie and Jai in different ways. Jai still hasn’t admitted his feelings for her but actions speak louder than words. You can tell that Jai cares for Ari and not in the guardian kind of way. They will both give their lives in a heartbeat to save one another.

This book took several days for me to get through it. I found parts of it sucked me in and held me and other parts really dragged and I had a hard time staying engaged.

That said, once I finished it, I did enjoy it. It got really good towards the end and the drama was starting to unfold. Well, you know, after several murders/killings a kidnapping by a half cousin of sorts, some fighting, a lot of magic, and some twisted conspiracies from family (you know, dads uncles and grandfathers).

Are you all caught up yet?

Anyway, there is a lot going on in this book and the book moves forward steadily. The focus of this book shifted off of The White King and focused instead on a sorcerer. I felt like the main conflict between Ari and The White King were lost. I'm very confused on the politics of the Jinn. Some killings are OK while others are not, but it is all based on your rank and who your related to. Very strange and really hard to follow along.

I love Jai. He is a great character and I loved watching him grow in this book and the choices he made. He is such a great male lead. I still can't stand Charlie (even though I can see why he is in the picture) and I love how Ari started taking control of the situation.

I can't wait to see what the next one is all about.

I really did love this book. I was so glad with how Ari matured in this book too. Charlie became more... likeable but I still really don't like him. I never trusted him and though i did see he had feelings for Ari, his feelings for revenge were stronger. His feelings for grief were stronger too.
I'm glad Ari mentioned Charlie having sex with some girl on her 18 birthday in her father's bed. That was eating at me since the last book and I know Ari was hurting from it. I'm glad Ari saw it for what it was.

Jai was...cute in this book. I thought the whole earring thing was adorable. Lol. I'm also glad he came to his senses before Ari had to do more (Like actually DIE) for him to see just how much he needed/loved/wanted her.

At the end of the book, i was already fed up with Charlie and honestly don't really care what happens to him. I feel he had too many PoVs in this book and Jai didn't have enough.

I’m going to make this review really short, because I don’t know how much more I can complement this author and I really don’t want to summarize the book because I don’t want to spoil anything. Basically, when I am in dire need of reading a good love story that I know will not let me down -- I turn to Samantha Young. No questions. Every novel I have read from her thus far has not disappointed. Samantha Young is simply fabulous. Scorched Skies, like all her other novels was AMAZING!! I finished the book in one day – need I say more? She is now permanently on my Amazon ‘pre-order’. I love Jai & Ari, they are adorable, I'm sure you will too. My only complaint was that it ended and I have to wait for the third book to come out! 5 Stars!!!

Wonderful. Stepping back into the amazing world of the Fire Spirits novels was like visiting an old friend: exciting, comforting, loads of fun, and a guaranteed great way to spend an afternoon. In a word, perfect. Scorched Skies is a great followup to Smokeless Fire. There is action, suspense, and romance in abundance. The personal relationships between Air, Jai, and Charlie were handled just right and I am delighted that Ari is coming into her own. The next book cannot come soon enough. A must, must, must read.
