Barefoot Dreams: Brother's Best Friend Romance

Rate this book
Dear Diary,

Did that really happen?
Did Griffin Owling, really come into my coffee shop this morning after being gone for sixteen years?
Personally, I’m convinced that the mushroom coffee I had this morning, made me see things. And feel things.
So, so, so many things. Things I wasn’t supposed to feel anymore because they were in the past. They were locked tight inside my memory box, ever since that one fateful day…
But one look, one hint of his scent and I was back to my fifteen-year-old self who was in love with her brother’s best friend. Back to the little girl with hopeless dreams for an impossible future. Only Griffin never saw me like that.
Or so I thought…
Until one blind date…

XOV,
Julie Birdy Lovinski

Barefoot Dreams by Daisy Thorn
4/5⭐
2,5/5🌶️

I read Born of Ice in December, and it became one of my favorite reads last year! When I discovered that Daisy had a small-town series, I couldn't add it to my TBR list fast enough. I was so lucky to win the first four books in the series, and I planned to read them all before diving into this one. But you know how busy life can get, so I didn't finish them in time for the release!

This book has a light and fun vibe, which I loved. The plot is simple, and the romance is sweet with just the right amount of spice. Julie has had a crush on her brother's best friend, Griffin, since they were kids. She adores her small town and wants to stick around, but Griffin has always dreamed of leaving. After graduating from high school, he joined the Air Force and moved away. Sixteen years later, after a rough mission, he returns home.

I loved Julie's personality! She's so positive, always smiling, and quick to forgive. Even when bullied in school, she never let it drag her down. Her ability to stay true to herself is something I admire. Griffin is a complex character. The more I got to know him, the more I liked him! His experiences in the Air Force left him a bit closed off, feeling like a lost soul unsure of where he fits in. It was heartwarming to see him slowly open up to Julie and how she brings him peace.

Their relationship develops gradually, and while some of their choices frustrated me, I understood how important those moments were for their growth. One of my favorite things was how Griffin always appreciated Julie's personality. He never made fun of her and completely accepted her for who she is. The little twist at the end was great, it gave me a deeper understanding of Griffin's character.

Overall, I had such a great time reading this book! There were plenty of funny moments and swoon-worthy scenes. It wasn't super steamy, and the romance was delivered. I also loved the strong friendships and family vibes woven throughout the story. I'm excited to read the next book in the series!

I loved how refreshing Julie's personality was. It was a bit too lengthy in my opinion though. But the last 10% was so cute. Thank you to luna literary management for the arc.

Arc review

I thoroughly enjoyed this read. It was my first read from this author and I was pleasantly surprised. Daisy’s writing was authentic and refreshing and had me invested in the story of Julie and Griffin.

The story had me laughing, tearing up and feeling all the feels. The characters were well developed and fun to read about. The small town aspect was written beautifully with the neighbours meddling and complete support. It was so much fun to read and feel like I was a character in this world. I will definitely be reading more of Daisy’s work.

I do think it would have been better if I’d read the series before as I would have had a better understanding of the characters and the town, but saying that I still absolutely loved the story. Julie was my favourite with her quirkiness and self assured attitude. Griffin took a little longer to warm to but when you do, he is just a sweetheart who’s absolutely obsessed with Julie.

Overall a fun, cozy little story which will warm your heart and have you laughing out loud while it’s doing it!

Thankyou to luna literary and Daisy Thorn for the chance to arc read this cozy read.

**Barefoot Dreams** was my first book by Daisy, and I absolutely loved this sweet, heartwarming story!

Julie and Griffin have that “meant to be” kind of connection—at least that’s how Julie always felt growing up. But Griffin, her brother’s best friend, had other plans and left their small town behind. Julie is such a unique, kind-hearted soul. Even though she was bullied when she was younger, she grew into an incredible woman who truly stays true to herself. I really appreciated how Daisy brought her to life—celebrating the beauty of being different in such a touching way.

When Griffin returns sixteen years later, old feelings resurface. With a little push from the charming small-town community, he decides Julie is worth fighting for—and he’s all in.

This story was such a cozy, feel-good read, and now I can’t wait to dive into the rest of the series!

This was my first time reading Daisy Thorn and I was so pleasantly surprised!

Even though this book is part of a series I really didn't feel I missed much nor was it hard to follow.

I absolutely fell in love with this magical, quirky town and its inhabitants!

Julie has been in love with Griffin, her brothers best friend since they were kids. As Griffin returns home sparks fly and some meddling townspeople meddle epically!

I loved the banter especially during smexy times. Hahaha sweet daisies and holy radishes was it fun!

When we find out Griffins secret? oh-my-heart. Love, love, loved and cant wait to read it again soon.

Many thanks to Luna Literary Management and Author Daisy Thorn for the opportunity to read this ARC and share my thoughts.

I have about a million bookshelves/tags and this book still managed to claim a few all on her own. Barefoot Dreams is truly a unique experience and I liked this couple so much, bumps, twists and meddling included!

Barefoot Dreams is a whimsical romance that is unlike anything I've ever read. It was unique, different and eccentric. Full of characters that will live in your head rent free and feelings of soul mates, true love and a little unexplained magic to make things memorable.

This is the first book by this author that I've read and although there are minor spoilers of other books/past couples, it didn't effect my overall enjoyment of Julie and Griffin's love story. Reading this was like finding a special little nook of comfort and safety, with a pinch of romance and plenty of laughs and feel good moments.

Julie and Griffin were awesome and I loved the flashbacks and diary entries. It wove a romantic spell over me and I found myself racing through this one because I loved every moment between these two and couldn't put it down.

If you like whimsy with a touch of quirky and two genuinely good hearted characters who finally get the courage to go after their heart's desire, Barefoot Dreams is a must read. There is mild drama, no OW/OM drama and a full circle romance for the ages.

The pacing of the story was a little different than I'm used to so it was a little slow at times and then would quickly pick up momentum. I loved all the friendships and meddling the town did but wondered why there wasn't enough meddling to stop Julie from taking things so far with her childhood bully. It felt odd that things progressed so much without Julie really noticing it until it created distance between her and Griffin. And Griffin, I love the man but he would get so stuck in his head that he'd miss huge flags that would have resolved so many issues, if he'd just pay a little attention!

Overall a good read that I can definitely see myself revisiting again soon!

"My whole life I thought a fist to the face was the best way to bring someone to their knees, but I was wrong because you knocked my heart out with just one smile and two bare feet."

Favorite Bits:
🖤 Julie - I love her. She was a beautiful character, full of love. Heart of gold!
🖤 The whole quirky town!
🖤 Griffin. Who knew he'd turn out to be such a freakin romantic?! Their first night (and morning) together! Swooned! Almost died, fell instantly in love with him!
🖤 The epilogue - It was the perfect ending but honestly left me wanting more of these two love birds!

ARC Review of Barefoot Dreams by Daisy Thorn 📚🧯☕️💘🌸🍒

This book should be called A Whole Ray of Sunshine in Book Form

Okay y’all… let me just say, this book? Whew. It grabbed me from page one and did not let go. Julie and Griffin? Literal magic. The chemistry, the slow burn, the years of mutual pining—it was all so damn satisfying. I was screaming at my Kindle like, “PLEASE just kiss already!” And when they finally do? Fireworks. Actual fireworks in my heart.

Julie is honestly one of the best characters I’ve read in a long time. She’s vibrant, confident, so unapologetically herself, and I found that so refreshing. She doesn’t shrink herself for anyone. Instead, she shines even brighter. She’s like that warm cup of coffee on a cold morning or a sunny day after a long winter. And her whole “kill ‘em with kindness” vibe? ICONIC. I want to be more like her.

Griffin… sigh. He’s a little more guarded, a little more bruised, but watching him open up again after the Air Force and start healing? Beautiful. Heart-tugging. I just wanted to wrap him up in a blanket and tell him everything’s gonna be okay. The way he sees Julie, accepts her, roots for her—it’s everything. He’s not trying to change her, he’s falling in love with exactly who she is.

Their love story felt so earned. They’ve known each other forever, and you can feel that history. That comfort. That tension that’s been brewing under the surface for years. And when it finally bubbles over… lord help me, I was a mess.

Also, the town?? I’m obsessed. The meddling neighbors, the small-town shenanigans, the endless support—this place feels like home. Like, can I just move to Love Cove and never leave? I want these people in my life. I want this cozy, joyful chaos. Daisy has built a world that feels like a big ol’ hug, and every time I read one of her books, I never want to leave it.

This book made me laugh, swoon, tear up a little, and just feel good. It touches on real stuff, the kind that hits deep, but it balances it with hope and warmth and so much charm. Daisy just knows how to write love—in all its messy, tender, funny glory.

5/5 doesn’t even cover it. If you love romantic comedies with heart, soul, and the kind of characters who feel real, this one’s for you. Barefoot Dreams is a keeper.

Now excuse me while I go reread all the best parts again.🥹💘

she.has.done.it.again!
Daisy just knows how to write a good, warming and welcoming book.
this town never fails to make me laugh and want love even more.
can these meddling people please come into my life as well? or can I just move to this town.
i need this care free atmosphere in my life.
this book catches me so fast, it’s always been you was done SO well here.
it keep me going and just flipping through the pages because I just needed them to FINALLY come to their senses.
and it was so beautiful when they did.
they have been in love with each other for so long and you can see way, because they are so right for each other and just fit so well together.
barefoot dreams is the perfect title for this book in so many ways.

julie gives griffin the good and easiness in his live and makes him smile every now and then.
their are each others safe space, it was so warming and comforting.
griffin accepts julie exactly the way she is and it shot straight to my heart in a good way.
they needed each other and they paths finally aligned and crossed so they came to each other.
they are SO right for each other, they know each other in the best way and can be the person they want to be in each others presence.

i really loved Julie’s personality,
how she enjoys what she does and won’t let anyone stop her.
she is boldly herself and i found that so inspiring.
also her motto „kill em with kindness“ was very interesting to read about.

griffin was really different from the rest of the love cove man and one of the most interesting.
I felt like with each chapter i got to know him better and i just want to give him the biggest hug.
i loved reading about his thoughts and his whole journey.

i love this town for finally bringing them together the way they need to be.
I missed this town so much and can’t wait to come back again.

thank you Daisy and luna literary for the arc!
visiting this town again warmed my heart in just the best way. 🫂

Literally the cutest make your heart sing romance! This is childhood crushes that take you straight to heart break, little girl wishes shared between the pages of a diary coming true in epic only in Loverly Cave fashion, the Lovehive coming out in full hilarious force with surprise help from the grumpy fire chief, best friends and the ultimate betrayal, all the frustration of wanting what you think you can’t have, the worlds worst or best depending on how you look at it blind date set up, and the best love confession ever that will have you squealing with how freaking adorable and perfect it is. This is just a fabulous romance that, with laughter a few tears and a whole lot of over the top but well meaning obsessed with love older people, gives you warm fuzzies, hearts in your eyes, and a swoony romance so worth reading.
Man is it good to be back in Loverly Cave! This has to be one of my favorite little towns, full of characters that feel like home and this book sees all of them more cohesive, fun, and settled than ever and it’s wonderful. All the stories in this little town kind of happen on the same timeline, so while Griffin and Julie are giving one heck of a charming, swoony story there are little glimpses of where all the other relationships are at and I love it! As for Griffin and Julie’s little romance tale, it’s just adorable. There is so much holding back, for various reasons, so much uncertainty, but man is it fun watching them almost get there and then stop, seeing the Lovehive all in a panic because things aren’t going to plan, friends interfere because they can’t take the mopey sad firefighter anymore, and some little red shots of lord only knows what that turn the tides and lead to a sweet and pretty dang touching confession. A great little romcom to lose yourself in and just feel good.

I love stepping back into Loverly Cave, every book is like a big hug and I really enjoy this quirky little town and it’s even quirkier townspeople! I was really excited when Daisy announced the tropes for this one as accidental pregnancy is my favourite to read however this one fell a little flat for me unfortunately. In saying that, I love Daisy and her books and will continue to read everything she releases!

Julie and Griffin have known each other their whole lives and been mutually (and secretly) pining for one another for a long time. When Griffin returns to Loverly Cave, old feelings resurface and begins to become clear they were always meant to be. However their journey is filled with miscommunication and meddling families which I struggled with at times.

Things I loved…
⊹ julie is the sweetest, most down to earth gal + i adored her and her outlook on life.
⊹ griffin was super swoon.
⊹ these townspeople continue to give all the giggles.
⊹ the way griffin cared for + supported her.
⊹ the cameos from our previous couples.
⊹ there are a number of laugh out loud moments.
⊹ the way it was clear these two were soulmates.
⊹ the friendship + banter between griffin + the other mmc’s was so good.

I struggled with the overall pacing of this one, especially when it came to the accidental pregnancy aspect that was promoted as well as the dear diary moments and the sometimes immaturity of the characters. Overall it’s a witty, heartwarming read I think most would enjoy.

While this is an interconnected standalone I highly recommend reading the series in order for the best overall experience.

This ARC is the first book I read from this author and it will not be the last! The story was so well written, from the timeline to the characters emotions. At first, you think it’s just a sweet small-town romance, but then the emotional side hits and suddenly you’re staying up way too late flipping pages. There’s tension, vulnerability, longing, “we really shouldn’t but we totally are” vibes and the perfect small-town feeling.

The story follows Joy, a woman navigating a difficult journey through grief and loss. She ends up back in Loverly Cave, a small town filled with memories she’s not ready to face, especially the ones involving her late brother’s best friend. From there, everything spirals. The story switches between the past and present, and you get to see how their relationship started, where it fell apart, and how grief and healing slowly bring them back together. Their connection is deep, complicated, and honestly, really beautiful to watch unfold. They’re messy and emotional and don’t have all the answers, and that’s what made them feel so human and real to me. What really got me was how layered their story is. It’s not just about their romance story, it’s about family, forgiveness, and finding peace after everything has fallen apart.

This is book 5 in the Loverly Cave series, which are interconnected standalone books, but I would highly recommend the previous books to get to know all the characters and dive into the incredible story!

Thank you Luna and Daisy for this incredible ARC opportunity! I volunteered to review.

Okay im trying something different with this ARC, I'm going to try writing my review while reading it. At this point I'm about 75 pages in and omg. 😂😂 I don't even know where to start. I'm actually liking it more than I thought. "Julie, MY Julie " reminds me of flipped. I can't believe i didn't catch that right away. Not only is the name the same but both Bryce and Griffin didn't appreciate when their Julie's made their affection obvious.
“You smell this bullshit in the air? Because I sure as fuck do.” - ACTUALLY LOL'D i couldn't hold it in.
I use bookfunnel to get the books into my kindle account and my Google play books so I can read on kindle and do the read out loud option when I'm at work and im so glad I work half my shift while the store is closed and that I'm alone during that time to cause this was not the first time I couldn't hold back a laugh during this book. Also loved the ham and egg reference to Grey's Anatomy (just got into it about 2 years ago). Luke is a real one for helping Griffin even when they were younger. 😂 I'm glad Julie ended up having a best friend like Jacob. After finishing this book I think i want to get into the whole series (i didn't know it was book 5 until after I got my arc 😂🤦🏻‍♀️) and I will be waiting for book 6 because I NEED more information on Callums return. Like why and how and omg that timing.

Honestly just give the book a try i expected to just like it but I loved it and finished it like 2 days. This was the first book I read that had a dear diary aspect and it actually wasn't off putting like i thought itd be, it helped you get to see how the characters thoughts worked.

📖 Barefoot Dreams - Book #5 of the Loverly Cave Series
✍️: Daisy Thorn

Barefoot Dreams is out now!
Can be read as a standalone, but fair warning, it does contain spoilers of the other books if read by itself.

Mushroom coffee and questioned reality? Plus add your long-lost teenage crush walking through the door of your coffee shop like he didn’t ghost your heart for SIXTEEN YEARS!! The vibes? Nostalgic. The tension? UNREAL. The spice? Oh honey… 🔥🔥🔥

Julie Birdy Lovinski — absolute adorable and quirky mess, coffee shop queen, and owner of one very dramatic diary. She’s definitely over her brother’s best friend. Completely. Totally. 100%.
(Spoiler: She is not.)
Then BOOM!!! — in walks said brother’s best fried……Griffin Owling. He’s the typical tall, broody, and smell-good…why does he have to smell good?
Plus, he looks like every single unsent love letter she wrote at when she was 15 years old, every “Mrs. Griffin Owling” she wrote on her notebook, every red lipstick kiss on her mirror... And guess what? He’s here for a blind date. 😏

Griffin is the ultimate broody cinnamon roll with secrets – they always have the secrets…ALWAYS…while Julie is the hilarious ray of chaotic sunshine (who doesn’t love some chaos in their life?) Read along to see what happens when these two worlds collide.

✨ Childhood crush? You got it.

First off i would like to thank luna & Daisy for the opportunity to read & review this gifted E-Arc.

Julie & Griffin
Oh gosh. The tension between them was so good! The mutual pinning between them 🤭. Ugh this book was so good. I absolutely adore Julie, watching her embrace herself and just be true to who she was and never changing was so beautiful & refreshing to see. I loved that she took what ever life give her and found the positive in it. She was and absolutely ray of freaking sunshine. I adore Griffin, Watching him come back and fighting to make life better after being discharged from the Air Force was so nice to see. Watching him fight himself over Julie and then finally with the help of the town (Absolutely loved that) give in and go for it. Watching him accept Julie for who she was & Encourage her to be herself was amazing to see. These two was always ment to be and to watch them both get the Happily ever after they wanted was beautiful.

5/5 Recommend this book. Y'all i don't know what Daisy puts in her books but its always so freaking good. This is the 6th book I've read by her and she absolutely kills it each time. This book has all the banter and humor you are looking for in a romantic comedy. It did touch on some sad things but over all it's a funny good time & i can't wait for the next book in this series.

OMG this book was hilarious! It was funny, chaotic, weird (in the best way), romantic and sweet.
The hippie vibes were everything! This small town full of colors, peace and love, nature, the freedom and meddling neighbors were all a breath of fresh air!

And the romance? Oh, the romance between Julie and Griffin was magical. The years of mutual pining, the tension, the chemistry, the love… These two were insanely crazy about each other, no wonder there’s a surprise pregnancy LOL.

Julie is one of the most lovable FMC’s I’ve read about! She’s so strong, yet she “kills” everyone with kindness, that’s her motto and I loved it.

Griffin was a MMC that needed a little push to find himself, to be free, to fight for the love of his life. He did frustrate me a bit when at first, he gave up so easily on Julie, but luckily, he came to his senses and got his girl.

This book made me feel really good. I know I said it made me laugh like a hyena, but it also warmth my heart and I don’t know how to explain it, but it also filled me with hope.

If you enjoy romcoms, brother’s best friend trope and hilarious characters, then seriously, this book is a MUST!

Thank you to Daisy Thorn and Luna Literary for the opportunity to review an advanced copy of this awesome book!

Welcome to Loverly Cave, a charming coastal town filled with eccentric characters and heartwarming small-town vibes.

At the heart of the story are Julie and Griffin — childhood friends with a sweet, complicated history. Griffin is her brother’s best friend, and Julie has harbored a quiet, unshakable crush on him for years. He was the boy who stood up for her when she felt like an outsider, and those moments clearly left a lasting impression. What makes this book shine is how it tells their story using a clever "Dear Diary" format. Through Julie’s nostalgic, heartfelt entries, we get an intimate look at her thoughts and feelings as a young girl. Later, we get to see Griffin’s perspective, giving us the other half of the picture — which is both touching and illuminating. Watching these two friends carefully build their romantic connection as adults is so sweet.

The tone of the novel is quirky and lighthearted, but it also knows when to tug on your heartstrings. There’s a whimsical warmth to the writing that makes each character, even the side ones, feel full of life.

Although this book is part of a series, I jumped in without having read the earlier installments and had no trouble following along. That said, I now have to go back and read the others — so I can soak in all of the magic of Loverly Cave.

If you're a fan of small-town romance, second chances, or stories told through unique narrative formats, this one is definitely worth adding to your TBR.

Thank you so much to Daisy Thorn and Luna Literary PR for the advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own.

Oh my god—this was the sweetest, most wholesome book I have ever read! Now, I don’t typically go for slow burns or second chance romances... but this book? Pure perfection. As soon as I started reading, I was hooked (Yes I was seriously considering pulling a sickie)

Daisy completely transported me to another world with this story, and I loved every second of it. Loverly Cave has all the best vibes—it's cozy, dreamy, and filled with the kind of characters you just want to be friends with. Everyone in this town felt so real and true to themselves!

Griffin and Julie? Soulmates. Their journey wasn’t without bumps, but from the very first page, you could feel their love. Their chemistry was off the charts, and I was rooting for them the whole way through.

Griffin was hot, protective, obsessed with Julie in the best way—and that dirty mouth? Whew. Julie, on the other hand, was all sunshine, sweetness, and strong in her own way. Together, they were absolutely perfect.

This book was pure magic, and I’m already planning to start this series from the beginning so I can fully immerse myself in this incredible world. If you love small-town romance with big heart and steamy love stories, do not miss this one!

I will gladly pay another visit to Loverly Cave to read the fifth book in the author’s Loverly Cave Series. Loverly Cave is a quirky little town with meddling residents.

Julie Lovinski and Griffin Owling were both born and raised in Loverly Cave. They have known each other all their lives. Julie’s brother, Callum, and Griffin are best friends. Callum has warned Griffin since their teenage years to stay away from his sister. Julie has embraced her quaint little town and now owns a coffee shop there, Sip of Love. Griffin left Loverly Cave as soon as he graduated from high school to join the Air Force. Sixteen years later he is back.

I loved the way the author incorporated the dairies Julie and Griffin kept since childhood. Diaries that revealed their true feelings for each other.

This book had a great message. Embrace your uniqueness. It is okay to be your own person. Be who you want to be.

Each chapter in this book began with a quote from a famous author. I loved this feature. This is one of my favorites - “Why fit in when you were born to stand out?” Dr. Seuss

“Life is not about the easy choices - it’s about the right one.”

What a welcome back to Loverly Cave with Griffin and Julie!
Omg how I’ve missed Loverly Cave and this book has made me want to re-read the whole series again because I love it there!

I absolutely loved this book and if it wasn’t for the Easter weekend I’m telling you it would have been devoured a lot sooner! I was hooked on the whole gang all over again and I absolutely LOVED it!!!

Daisy has done it AGAIN!!!!

Griffin - OMG Griffin - I loved him - what a MMC - lost in his love for Julie and then his grief saw him back to our favourite Cave where no one can stop themselves from butting in and inferring BUT yet again they do a great job and the blind date was my fave! Whatever they are drinking - IL HAVE ONE TOO PLEASE 🤣

Julie - aka Birdy who is different but eccentric was the perfect FMC and I loved her! Her quirkiness was amazing to read about and how she dealt with things was fabulous! Her love for Griffin made him whole and his love for her made her whole and it was lovely to read!

I didn’t want to put it down and cannot wait to go back to Loverly Cave again soon

Thank you so much to Daisy & Luna Literary for this eARC in exchange for my honest review

Loverly Cave is one of my favorite fictional towns to visit. Book five in the series was an easy, sweet read with lots of humor. The first 45% of the book takes place before books one through four which I actually loved. I do think you’d feel a gap once it skips ahead if you haven’t read the series in order. You could still follow Griffin and Julie’s story but might be missing pieces with the side characters, who make this story even better. Griffin and Julie’s stories really show how the expectations that are put upon us, for how we should feel, dress, what hobbies we should have, etc. is very true to what many people experience in life, especially as teenagers. Through both of their journeys to current day we see how those expectations impacted their choices, and in some way their self-worth. I loved the honesty they developed in their relationship once they found their way together. Daisy’s writing gets better and better with each release. Thank you to author Daisy Thorn for the advanced copy of this book.

TROPES:
* Brother's Best Friend
* Accidental Pregnancy
* "Her Brother Will Kill Me"
* No 3rd Act Breakup
* Small Beach Town
* MMC in Uniform
* Sunshine FMC
* Unrequited Love
* "Dear Diary"
* Blind Date

I am so lost for words because this was the most unique, quirky amazing read! It’s one of those reads that will stick with you. I absolutely loved everything about this kooky town and the FMC wild child Julie “Birdy” who loves being hippie and barefoot. She was so herself you couldn’t not fall in love with her. She was sunshine sweet and deserved all the happiness she got in the end. Giffin “Griff” was such a book boyfriend and I enjoyed reading his character development and his struggles to fit in. I was swooning so hard for this man. The ending took my entire heart with it. I love these two so much, their story really touched my heart. It was about finding yourself, being wild and free and finding true happiness in everyday. It was about second chances and falling in love with your soulmate.

What it’s about:
She’s always known three things. She loves her hometown, loves to be herself, and she’s hopelessly in love with her brother's best friend. He’s the hero of her story, but when it’s clear he doesn’t feel the same she does her best to live life to the fullest. Years later she’s made a wonderful life for herself and now she’s trying to find her love story. When her brothers best friend returns home those pesky butterflies start to erupt again, but little does she know, those butterflies? They’re throwing a party inside him as well.

My Review:
There’s not a lot of meat to grab onto in this book and the characters are a bit surface level. That being said, it would be the best summer read. It’s fun and extremely cute, so if you’re putting together a list for the beach or pool, put this one on it!

Over the last 12 months I have become a huge fan of Daisy Thorn and Barefoot Dreams is just another reason why. Quite possibly one of the absolutely sweetest stories I've read so far.

Griffin returns home after a great loss. Back to what is likely the cookiest town ever, with community workouts every morning and parents that are oblivious to personal boundaries, it's home. And home also holds the fiery red head, sweet as cherries, freeist spirit of all, Julie.

Julie has worshipped Griffin in secret for years. Being her big brother's best friend, he was always around, gorgeous and heroic but always out of reach. And now he's back in town,  Julie has to try and stop all her childhood memories from flooding back and falling back down the path of pining after the unattainable boy that's all grown up.

The town that loves love decides to use their crazy antics to help the couple reveal their mutual attraction to each other with hilarious results. This whole story had me laughing out loud so much but at the same time just swooning at the sweetness of it all.

I have no words other than LITERALLY OBSESSED! I love the Loverly Cave series so much, I am going to be devastated once it ends. Daisy creates couple perfection, and amazing background cast of characters! I was so excited to read Julie’s story, and she did not disappoint us at all!!

From the snippets of Julie in the previous books I did not realized how much I was going to love her character! I am in awe of Julie and her ability to be herself. She gives zero eff’s what people think of her, and it shows how strong she is. Her strength is also shown through her ‘secret’ love for Griffin! I cannot tell you how adorable her diary entries are. Like take me back to my youth so I can create some myself!

I may be crazy but Griffin comes across about as delicious as a slice of cherry pie…iykyk🍒 His hidden love for Julie all these years made me fall him so quickly, to the point I am like ‘make a baby already you two!’ The slow burn between these two made me love them together so much. Julie’s ability to be his ‘calm’ easily gave me chills!

If small town romances with hidden yearning for your brother’s best friend books are your cup of tea, then don’t miss reading Barefoot Dreams. Barefoot Dreams is Book 5 of the Loverly Cave series but I found it easy to read as a standalone - but if you’re planning to go back and read them after - you’re setting yourself up for spoilers!

This book follows the lives of Julie, an earth loving, nature obsessed FMC and Griffin, a veteran MMC with service trauma. Both of them having been pining (not unobviously to anyone around them!) for each other for years but felt they couldn’t act on it for reasons including loyalty and fear of rejection. Their journey to each other is rife with miscommunication, stubbornness and meddling families.

A cute, small town romance with spice for good measure and an overall enjoyable read.

It’s been a while since a book made me actually laugh out loud, but this one did—more than once!

I’ve read other books by Daisy Thorn and loved them for their heavy angst and emotional weight, but this was such a refreshing change of pace. While it still had those raw, emotional moments I crave, it was wrapped up in the coziest, quirkiest small town I’ve ever read. The contrast made it even more impactful.

Griffin and Julie? Soulmates. Their dynamic gave me butterflies, and I’m a sucker for unrequited love—especially when it’s paired with diary entries. I was hooked from page one and devoured the entire book in one sitting.

Griffin’s mom absolutely stole the show for me—funny, wise, and endlessly lovable. I’m already counting down the days until I get more of her in the next book.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review, and honestly? I’m already diving into the rest of the series.

after reading the first books in the Loverly Cave Series I was so extremely excited to read about Julie and Griffin. and this story my friend is how you write an age gap romance when they knew each other before being adults! Daisy Thorn is such an empowering author and reading some of these chapters had my heart hurting, Julie not knowing what was going on when younger and fast that forward with the miscommunication with the characters had everything feeling real and not just in the book. Griffins secrets made my heart crumble. I now want to be barefoot walking in Loverly Cave with Julie and with my hair down!
All of the characters mesh so well with each other and I need more stories on everyone!! Now I know we have books on all of the younger generation but im talking about there parents and how they found each other and got to Loverly Cave!!

Again this book was absolutely amazing and I'm so excited to see what is next for the Loverly Cave town!!

Ok but can i please move to Loverly Cave? I think that town was MADEEE for me 😭

This book was so fun and REALLY easy to binge BUT i wasnt really a fan of the writing after the 20% mark 😭. It just went a bit downhill and some bits were rushed and some parts were just skipped over 🫣

I think the plot idea was cute but the execution could have been better!

Thank you to Daisy Thorn and Luna Literary for sending me the arc of this in exchange for my honest review! 🤍

Julie has been in love with Griffin her whole life, but came to terms with the fact that her brother’s older best friend would never love her back. When he joins the Air Force and leaves for 16 years she doesn’t expect to have to come face to face with him again. But it’s 16 years later and Griff is back in town, all man and all heat in his eyes. Julie was always bullied for being all sunshine and hippie love like their parents, and never really had any friends, which was so so sad! Griffin was often beating people up for her, cementing his status as her love. I hated seeing teen Julie get hurt my him and smile even when she was sad 🥺 I loved the double sided pining that happened as adults too though! This was incredibly sweet! This series is also so funny, the meddling older residents of LC are ridiculous 😂😂 Such a great, sweet book! Can’t wait for the next one in the series!!!

Let’s go back to Loverly cave and have a few shots of Eros Spell then go down by the beach.

“𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒍𝒆𝒕’𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒖𝒑.”

Daisy Thorn makes us fall yet again for another swoony AF MMC, Griffin. This man…
The man who was attracted to his best friend’s little sister. The man who came back to town after he was let go from the Air Force. The man who would do anything for little J.
A͟N͟Y͟T͟H͟I͟N͟G͟!̲

Julie was a free-spirited gal. She was Mother Nature in human form. All she wanted was to be loved for who she really was. Everyone saw her as a weirdo. Everyone but her brother’s best friend….

Love their HEA!

Patiently waiting for book 6! Ahhhhh! I don’t want this series to end!

Thank you Daisy for giving me the opportunity to beta and arc read Barefoot Dreams in advance.
