DNF – Unlikable Character . . .

Deborah’s name is called -- she has been matched with Commander Trexx!! This is exactly what she wanted to hear! She is taken to meet Trexx (described in the blurb as pink, featured on the cover as blue, and described in the book as purple). “So this is her,” he said in a bored voice to the crewman who led her to him… then he turned around and went to the kitchenette to replicate a cup of tea. She tried to confirm that he was really Trexx and he simply said there was no need to repeat this. He was obviously not eager for a bride, which had been the king’s idea for the women they had rescued. Saying they knew nothing of the Rexxei culture, he turned away to do his paperwork and be left alone. Ignoring his rejection, she defiantly sat down and squirmed close to him, moving her thighs open and closed so she kept touching him. Then she asked who his boss was because he needed to take off a few days for a honeymoon -- because it was a human tradition! (I’d have thrown her out the airlock by then. How rude! I am not pleased with this character at all!) When he headed for bed, she told him she would sleep there too because he was promised to her, then she pushed past him, stripped, and got into his bed… making sure he wouldn’t be able to sleep.

The more aggressive Deborah became, the more I disliked her, was ashamed that she would represent the human race with her rude, pushy, unthinking attitude that could jeopardize the ship in an emergency with her blatant interference. I forced myself to read more than halfway through, but it wasn’t getting any better so I did not finish. One of the most important things to me is to “like” the main characters and develop a rapport with them right from or close to the beginning. This woman was positively obnoxious from the start and I saw no improvement. This series is good, I have read and reviewed several, but this particular book was not for me.

Deborah didn’t expect to be matched with a grumpy war-hardened alien who wants nothing to do with her. and would rather fill out reports than fall in love. Commander Trexx may be tall, dark, and commanding, but he's also stubborn and emotionally shut down. Still, Deborah isn’t going to let a little rejection—or a lot—get in the way of building a life in this strange new world. As she navigates cultural differences, earns her own role among the rexxei, and refuses to back down from the relationship she was promised, Deborah proves she's more than just a bride in waiting. Trexx is doing everything he can to keep his distance from the wife he never wanted—but the curvy, determined Deborah keeps breaking through his defenses. As physical tension builds and secrets about their connection come to light, both will have to face what they truly want: safety or intimacy, duty or desire. A spicy alien-human, fated mates, curvy girl, grumpy sunshine, sci-fi romance, exploring trust, emotional vulnerability, growth, independence, building connection across differences, and finding love in the least likely place, and refusing to settle for anything less.

A very short and simple alien romance for this series. It came across as rushed and almost silly. While it did link into the other books, there wasn't really much of a plot or action. This pair was a bride match from the program but the way the path was laid left a lot to be desired. Hopefully the next one is more like the first two.

This Book 5 in The Brides of the Rexxei Book Series has a Sci-fi, Alien Romance Story, good world construction, and intense characters. These characters have interesting personalities, intriguing reactions, and detailed histories. This story has a Marriage Program, an Alien King, a chosen human mate, unwanted human mate, a pushy human, twists, turns, a growing connection, chemistry and HEA.

A must-read short story. A well-written plot with human women and alien heroes. They have the fated mate bonds but will they have a HEA? Can't wait for the next book.

This is another short story in the series. The plot mostly consists of Deborah chasing after Trexx while he tries to reject or ignore her before the suddenly get together with a bang (pun intended).
