Cooper James is no stranger to loss. He had to hit rock bottom before making his way to the top. Losing his dad left him with responsibility that he wasn't prepared for. Music is his only outlet.
Emma Harris is a simple girl. Country music is her passion and with country music comes heartbreak. She hasn't had the best of luck with men, but she keeps writing the song.
When Cooper and Emma meet at a concert, their connection is instantaneous. Cooper is the verse to Emma's chorus.
What happens when tragedy strikes and lives are shattered? Will the music stop forever?
Heather Dahlgren writes Contemporary Romance, sprinkling each book with a bit of humor, a lot of naughty and true love. She self-published her first book in 2014 and continues to do so today. Her over active mind promises the stories are in no short supply.
Heather grew up and still resides at the Jersey shore. She loves being so close to the Atlantic Ocean and the Pine Barrens. She is surrounded by the best of both worlds.
She is married to her high school sweetheart and has three kids. There is nothing more important in the world to her then her family.
When Heather isn’t writing you can find her getting lost in a great book, spending time with family and helping her fellow authors.
I liked this book...A LOT. I really enjoyed the characters, all of them....minus of course the crazy ex (the attack was extreme), but oh well it worked. handling the momma situation (that's been done), would have liked that to have gone down differently.
NOW here's where we have the problem.....
I am from OKLAHOMA. we DO NOT speak like robots. the dialogue from an Oklahoman's standpoint was rough. we use contractions in our speech and thoughts. we so rarely use an ing on the end of word it's nearly non existent, even in our inner monologues. we have a slow country drawl that eats at everyone's imagination wondering where the hell we're from. as you read this I bet you're thinking why you're reading ing on my words, that's cause my kindle has a mind of it's own, and I'm not gonna go back and fix every word. just trust me. I'm OKLAHOMA born and bred for 47 years. I love everything about OKLAHOMA. the football, the basketball, the people, the way of life....all of it is uniquely US. that being said, this was a very good book.
I would like to point out a few other things that could have been handled to this okie's way of thinking. Emma, not quite Oklahoma enough. we can smell a transplant a mile away and she often came off like a transplant. give us some location. where is this taking place. I've been to A LOT of concerts in OKC at the zoo amp, Remington park, and in Tulsa, Ardmore....all over Oklahoma....that have outside venues.....I didn't know where I was and the tailgating......no.....maybe at a football game, but at concerts before the gates open it's drinking and dancing with loud music and louder fans. haven't been to a concert venue that would allow for tailgating without police stopping it...however, the drinking you get around. then my other complaint....when he sings the song to Emma, little cheesy for an Oklahoma cowboy (they just wouldn't do that much) but I'll let that go....it was minor thing I suppose and probably appreciated from romance readers who like cutsie in their reading. now that being said.....if a cowboy did do that for you, we okie cowgirls would have owned that loud and proud. but this Emma chick was all into crying (not okie behavior) and she ran out the door overcome with emotion crying. NO...correct response.....knock people the hell down running to your cowboy for a loud and proud THANK YOU....screw causing a scene.
ok I'm through schooling potential readers on SOME things Oklahoma. that being said this is a good book. read it. good times.
if the author has follow-up stories for any of these characters, shoot me a message and I will be happy to assist on making an authentic Oklahoma romance story.
Dancing Hearts will make you want Cooper James to dance away with your heart!
Emma loves country music, her friends, and her job. Music is her passion though, makes her feel, makes her cry, makes her happy. Emma hasn't had the best luck with men, leaving her untrusting of men. A chance meeting at a Luke Bryan concert may just change her mind.
Cooper doesn't take any time for himself. Since he's father passed away, he has struggled to care for his depressed mother and take over his father's bar. He's dated in the past few years, but no one has gotten to him. But one night, his friends are dragging him to a concert. Can crossing paths with Emma make him move past tragedy?
Dancing Hearts literally had my heart from page one. Maybe because I am HUGE country music fan, maybe because what girl doesn't want to shake her ass at a Luke Bryan concert, and then have a hot steamy hookup?? But beyond that, Dancing Hearts was a great book that keep me reading all the way to the end. Emma started off as sorta your typical 22 year old girl, partying, dancing, all that, but her growth through the book and with her relationship with Cooper made her a very likable female character. Cooper was perfect, I mean what woman doesn't want a tattooed cowboy who sings??? *swoon* I loved the way the story progressed, that they took their time, that everything wasn't rushed like some other novels like this. I also enjoyed the story arc with Cooper and his mother, I felt this was realistic and felt genuine, not like something thrown in for fake suspense. This is a definite must read!!!
What can I say..... I lurved this book!!!!I connected from word go! Emma reminded me of my sister just a gorgeous girl and me I have a little bit of rowan in me lol but I just loved there friendship,Now Cooper he himself is stand alone man I love how he has a great group of mates that stand by him threw everything this young man has had to deal with, I related to the bar because I work in a small town pub and we are a family.I love how heather has written this book it's so close to how we have all gone through that certain relationship with someone its sexy its real not like some books that leave out the real life sex stuff high 5 to fantasy sex but it was awesome to read what its like when to people are getting to know each other in a real life circumstance!Emma and cooper had my heart dancing, laughing and breaking, such amazeballs feelings to come from a book, I highly recommend this book to read you will find something in this book that relates to somewhere in your life whether it be music love laughing heartbreak or friends there are so many special and magical moments that come from this book! You will truelly cherish every moment of this book!○~lou~○
Can one concert, one chance meeting, and one magical night hold a lifetime of happiness?
Heather Dahlgren’s Dancing Hearts seeks to answer those questions. Dancing Hearts is the story of Emma and Copper and their journey to find love and their happily ever after. It is the story of real people, in real life situations. It is a real life love story and it is refreshing.
I could relate to this story on many different levels. I could be Emma; any of my friends could be Emma. Her girlfriends could be my girlfriends. Cooper is everything a woman looks for in a partner. He is kind, generous, gorgeous, and successful. He is what we call the whole package and a bag of chips.
I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of Emma and Cooper’s lives for a short period of time. I loved the realness of the story and the little musical touches throughout. This is not your average run of the mill romance; this is the story of any girl and boy living in the real world.
Even though this story started slow or seemed to go nowhere in the beginning, I couldn't let Cooper and Emma go when I wasn’t reading. The end went really fast, but it handled a big topic that made this not just some love story.
Loved Cooper and Emma, they were absolutely adorable together. After everything Cooper has been thru in the past few years he deserves something good in his life, and that good is Emma. Some parts of this book made me giddy like a schoolgirl and others had me so frustrated with Cooper i wanted to tell him to smarten up. It definitely brought out all the feels in me.
I loved this book ! Cooper strong sexy and a little alpha cowboy, and Emma a strong confident little Doll, this couple loves sex i can say that and when cooper dirty talks to her its all kinds of hot, The way Cooper takes care of his mom is just wonderful.he has had to grow up quick with the passing of his dad and has wanted a girl who would stand by him while he cares for his mom and runs his dads bar and he has found that in Emma.
Emma just wanted a man she could trust and someone to treat her right. when she meets Cooper at a concert everything changes , their lust and love for each other was quick and Hot. However when when things got bad and cooper loses control it takes all his friends and Emma to pull him out of that dark place, thats when cooper realizes he needs to do all he can to get the girl and he does. Heather Dahlgren told this story perfectly.
Heather has done it again! WOW! This book was fantastic, I love Cooper and Emma! This is my favorite book from Heather, it was well written, and the storyline was solid. I love how Emma and Cooper met at the Luke Bryan concert. (I am a huge Luke Bryan fan). The chemistry between the 2 was amazing. It was real, they have some problems they have to face to be able to be together. They both work different shifts making it hard for them to see each other. But when they are together boy was it hot. Then Heather threw in the twist towards the end. Will it affect their HEA? This is a standalone book that I highly recommend! It will not disappoint! I can’t wait to see what else Heather does!
Cooper James and Emma Harris met at a Luke Bryan concert and immediately connected. Sparks fly and both of them realize that this is more than just a one time thing.
I really felt the emotions of this book. I'm a huge music fan and you really felt like you were at the concert with them. I loved how Cooper and Emma both were willing to work through the problems that arose in their relationship.
This book will not let you down and you will really feel all of the emotions! 🖤
DNF... I'm about 46 pages in & I just couldn't go any more. The writing is like a 15 year old wrote it. I just couldn't get into this plus I'm not a fan of any of the music they're sooooo into which just made me disconnect even more than I already was.
Stopping halfway to maintain my sanity and give my eye muscles a break from all the rolling. The mains are way too immature for me. I'd recommend it to 16-17 year olds.
This book was so beautiful! It starts off light with some dark sprinkled in (His mom has major mental health struggles) and gets more I guess you could say REAL the farther the book goes.
The last three to four chapters are BRUTAL with the mental health crisis that his mom hits which makes him take it out on Emma and then he spirals as well.
I love how she helps snap him out of his spiral though. Very indicative of a healthy relationship. I also love how she doesn’t just fall back into his arms. She gives him some room to clean up his spiral while still showing she’s his partner.
The last chapter has the most BEAUTIFUL grand gesture that will make some people cry I’m sure. I just had a big smile on my face 🥰
This book is heavy on the heart but also makes you want more out of the group/world.
This is my first book by this author and it likely won’t be my last
This was a quick and enjoyable read for me. I liked both Cooper and Emma as individuals and together they made a great couple. I think Cooper was a great son but not sure he should have given in to his mom’s manipulation and dumped Emma’s the way he did and then he should have manned up when he found out what was really going on with his mom and apologized to Emma and asked her to take him back. Instead she had to go to him and knock some sense into him before he lost his friends and his business with the way he was behaving after he broke up with her.
Cooper James, a young bar owner, meets Emma, an even younger hairdresser, at a concert and the electricity between the two turns out to be love at first sight. Emma is a really delightful girl, accepting Cooper's devotion to his bar and his widowed mother, even putting up with run-ins with Shelly, an ex-girlfriend. Just when the two have told each other 'I love you' tragedy strikes! As a result, Cooper banishes Emma! Will Cooper return to excessive drinking? Is this the end? Hint: he finishes his song memorializing their meeting and love, entitled 'Dancing Hearts.' I enjoyed this read!
Cooper is not looking for a relationship, but when he sees Emma at a concert he feels an instant attraction to her and wants to be near her. Emma, is only looking to have fun with her friends at a concert, until she sees Cooper, then all bets are off. It is like an electric current is pulling them together. Throughout the book Cooper and Emma are trying to build a relationship, but they are going through real life relationship struggles, involving ex's, work schedules, family members, and trying to see how they fit together. This was a great story. I highly recommend reading it!
The characters are flat and there are too many things in the story that are not realistic. I appreciate that the author tried to speak about mental illness, but it seemed to be based on stereotypes and not on reality. Overall, this book was wordy, flat and boring.
Not only was this a fast moving romance but it was also a realistic look at mental illness, specifically bi-polarism. I loved the characters and even though there were so many of them, it was easy to follow along with each.
The action, emotions and never giving up was absolutely engaging. The characters really spoke to me. The love that was built between a man and his girl was so sweet and rough at the same time. Easy read with a great storyline too.
Really enjoyed reading Dancing Hearts. Loved the story and all the ups and downs. Bringing attention to how parents can influence their children's lives is a good thing. Highly recommend reading.
I liked the story but it seemed overly discriptive to me ( I really don't need the entire Luke Bryan set list) and it felt more like stating facts rather than a story. But it is a nice story
I love anything music in books and this has some great ones. Cooper and Emma got it off instantly. I really liked the characters and they were a lot of fun.
A wonderful book – a perfect book boyfriend, emotional connections, and conflict.
I have finally found a character that I would consider to be a book boyfriend. Cooper is the perfect book boyfriend. He is perfect because he is not a goody two shoes or a knight in shining armor—a character that is so perfect he seems unreal. All the things with Cooper at the end add to his being perfect. Perfect isn't really perfect - he had issues, just like everyone else. He didn't always make the best, or right, choice, but he was willing to admit he messed up, and would make the changes he needed to. Essentially, he is perfectly imperfect.
Cooper has both strengths and weaknesses. Heather Dahlgren did a wonderful job in creating a character that has both positives and negatives. Cooper might have several amazing qualities such as the amount of responsibilities he has taken on at a young age, taking care of his mom, the relationships with his friends, his caring for Emma, and the way he treats Emma, but he also has weaknesses and personal conflicts. One of his biggest weaknesses is something that he has overcome, yet still struggles with, and added to his character and showed more strength. Cooper had several personal conflicts going on, each one handled in different ways, but they showed the type of person he was and that everyone has something they have to deal with that could affect them personally, as well as affect their relationships.
I loved Emma's character. Yes, she is young and you can see that with some of the things she does, but she is a sweetheart, and is someone I could see being friends with and relating to. She has some issues, primarily with trust, but there is a reason for it; however, she recognizes these issues, and even when the past catches up with the present and she has moments of doubt, you can still see her growth in her responses and actions. I enjoyed seeing Emma’s personal growth with how she handled herself and the situations that came up.
Heather did a wonderful job with developing a connection between readers and the characters in Dancing Hearts. There were several times that I felt the same emotions the characters did, whether it was sadness and crying, anger, or happiness. I particularly enjoyed how with a few words, Heather showed (not told) readers exactly what kind of person a character was. Not only were the characters well-developed, but the sub-plots were equally well-developed and added to the main plot. In many ways, the sub-plots were crucial to the relationships and development of the characters.
There were a few difficult moments for me in this book. One of the personal issues that Cooper and Emma had to deal with centered on Cooper’s mom, and it hit close to home. I can honestly say that Heather Dahlgren did a wonderful job in the descriptions of what was going on without giving away exactly what was going on with Cooper’s mom. The details she gave were true and correct, yet she handled it in a tactful way, was not negative, and once the final outcome was revealed, everything fell into place.
Overall, I felt Dancing Hearts had it all—an amazing couple, steamy scenes, emotional connections to the characters, issues the characters had to work out both alone and together, moments of suspense and wondering if Cooper and Emma would have their HEA, and an ending that tied everything together.
I loved this book the strength that Emma shows as she falls for Cooper and goes through so many ups and downs in her own life and the life she is choosing to have with Cooper. The heart and feelings Cooper goes through as his life and all that he knows gets thrown upside down and inside out. Together as they take the journey through meeting by chance to love ever after they show that the heart is strong and will always show you the way you just have to let it. The author truly makes you feel a part of their life she brings their story heart and soul and shows that even though life can sometimes get in the way the heart can overcome it all you just need to trust and have faith in each other.

What can I say about Heather Dahlgren’s Dancing Hearts? This book was wonderfully written, witty, steamy, great strong characters, meaningful, and just a little dose of angst to make the perfect book. Cooper and Emma meet at a concert and start a friendship that leads to more. Will they make it through the first date or all the bumps life throws at them? I am not telling go grab the book! I totally fell in love with these characters. The connection and the strength of the friendship that grows into a couple that is something most readers can identify with. I was completely drawn into the story and could not wait to finish reading it so I knew how things would end. This is a must read book!
So I came by this book quite randomly whilst I was browsing one day. I had not previously come across Heather Dahlgren’s books, and I love finding new Indie authors. After reading the synopsis I decided to give Dancing Hearts a go. I sure am glad that I have found her now!
Cooper is a man who has too many responsibilities and not enough time to let loose and have fun. Since his father died, he has taken over the running of the family bar and other than helping out with his mum, has little time for women and definitely even less time for a relationship.
On the other hand, Emma is full of life and passionate about what is important to her – family, friends, her job and having fun. Emma wants nothing more than to find a man that treats her right and has the same outlook on life as she does.
When Cooper and Emma have a chance meeting at a concert, everything between them happens very quickly. When faced with some major obstacles to their relationship, can Emma & Cooper find the strength to get through it?
I really liked this book. It is one hot and steamy read. There were times when I was reading it that I thought my kindle might self combust with the sexiness. Cooper was the perfect blend of gentleman and beast. Just what I love.
And Emma, I love a strong female character that is able to fight for what she wants. She was a great blend of strong and sassy.
What surprised me about this book was the level of angst that was introduced. I was completely not expecting what happened and I could not help but feel for Cooper and Emma.
This book was well written and the storyline well thought out. It was an easy and enjoyable read. I would recommend this book for lovers of steamy romances. I will definitely be reading some more books by Heather Dahlgren in the future.
Wow, where do I begin.....Ok I will start with Cooper because he is one sexy ass country boy. He has had to do a lot of growing up over the past few years, at 25 he has a lot on his shoulders. The two most important things in his life is his bar and his mother, well that is until Emma comes dancing her way into his life. Emma is a carefree 22 year old who likes to hang out with friends, partying, and has a passion for music, specifically country. She has had her heart broken in the past and is just wanting to have some fun, she knows she doesn't want another man like her ex. When her and her friends set out on a night of fun at a concert she meets Cooper. She is very attracted to him and he seems to sweep her right off her feet. Cooper and Emma have schedules that seem to work against them but they will do whatever is possible to make it work. In no time these two are falling hard for each other, but not everyone is happy with their relationship. When lives start to spiral out of control can Cooper and Emma handle it, or will it rip their relationship apart? I really enjoyed this book, it went at the perfect pace. It was fun, emotional, and sweet. Yes there was a little drama that got my blood pumping but I loved how everything played out at the end. This book had just the right amount of steamy goodness. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this author. One-click you won't be disappointed.
