Well, color me surprised—this was a wild ride I didn’t know I needed! This book is a serious curveball from Jennifer’s usual fare for me… and yet, somehow, it’s still quintessentially her. Who would've guessed that a stalker romance could be this hilarious? Honestly, I was cackling—and the main culprits were Ford’s best friend, Connor, and his absolutely unfiltered, firecracker of a grandma, Gram (a.k.a. " Gram Crackers" and for good reason). That dynamic duo stole every scene they were in, with Gram dishing out unfiltered commentary and Connor playing the perfect mischievous sidekick. They were like comedy gold. But let’s talk about the main event: Ford and his slight” obsession with Harper. Things go from simmer to full boil when they both return to their hometown after a decade apart. At first, I was bracing myself for a standard second-chance rom-com… until Ford decides that subtlety is overrated and opts for a little “gentle persuasion” to get a second chance. You know—kidnapping Harper and tying her to his bed. Totally normal behavior. That’s where the classic Jennifer Rose kicked in. The chase scene in the woods? Absolutely unhinged and completely brilliant. It’s amazing what a little adrenaline and mild terror can do for a relationship, honestly. The balance between dark and delightful was almost pitch-perfect—almost. There were a few moments, like Ford’s handling of Harper’s stalker, that veered into whiplash territory. A bit too dark for the otherwise quirky vibe? Maybe. But then again, this book thrives on chaos, and somehow, it works. Once Harper gets over the whole “kidnapped by my ex” situation, she realizes she might actually like being Ford’s captive. Especially when it comes to the more … ahem physical aspects. Girl was thriving, okay? And as Ford’s hockey bros start rolling into town for the big wedding, things go from mildly crazy to full-on hilarious mayhem. It felt like being dropped into a wildly inappropriate, fun-loving family reunion—and now I want to be invited to every single event. I’m officially hooked. Bring on the rest of the hockey crew—I’m ready to get personal.
