My debut novel — fun for all ages.

Goblin began as a B-movie screenplay I wrote during the pandemic. After years of trying to get it financed in Hollywood with no luck, I decided to turn it into a novel. My hope is that if the book does well, it might help bring the movie to life someday.

The story was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho and my favorite childhood book, The Hobbit—a mix of fantasy and horror, but without the gore.

It was a joy to write Goblin, and I hope it's just as fun to read.

Goblin was a nicely written story with a strong audiobook narrator who really helped bring the atmosphere to life. It took me a little while to get into the narrative, and some scenes dragged long enough that the pacing felt uneven. There were moments where the phrasing became repetitive, and something in the overall tone felt just slightly off — like the book was missing a spark it was reaching for.

The character, Lynn, didn’t do the story any favors for me and was more annoying than engaging. Still, the prose itself is solid, and there’s a clear effort to build a distinct world and mood. In the end, it was an okay read: not bad, not great — just a decent experience that could’ve been tighter with better pacing and a sharper emotional tone.

a very quick and enjoyable read. the story was fun and just the right amount of spooky to make it a good read for anyone. I hope the author accomplishes his goals and gets to turn this into a movie, not sure how to describe it but I could visualize this playing out as a movie while I was reading it, so I would love to see that happen some day!

Deeply enjoyed this lighthearted fantasy adventure. It was full of relatable characters and their complex relationships, sprinkled with visual writing with a fast-paced ending. In fact, the whole story seems to gain speed steadily as you read through, which is always a nice surprise.

When I read this book, I didn’t realize until the very end that it had originally been written as a screenplay with the intention of becoming a movie. That actually made me laugh, because all along I kept thinking, this would make a really good movie. So in that sense, the author definitely accomplished what he set out to do.

The story itself is a little spooky, a little scary—but I’m kind of a horror lightweight, and I handled it just fine. As I read, I could see the action playing out in my head like scenes on a screen, which only added to that “movie” feel.

It’s also pretty tropey and stereotypical—characters behave pretty much exactly as you’d expect them to. But honestly, that’s also part of the fun. I could easily picture this as a Halloween-season movie, the kind you’d put on when you want something spooky but not too intense.

As for audience, I’d say it’s a good fit for high school and up. Some middle schoolers could probably handle it too, especially if they were reading or watching alongside a parent.

It’s short, fast-paced, and I ended up finishing it in one sitting. There’s a twist, near the end and overall, it was just a fun read. I recommend giving it a try if you’re in the mood for a quick, slightly spooky story.

This book was a heavy hitter...the story grips you almost instantly and it take you for a ride that you wouldn't expect but hoped for...a great creature feature book with laughs, thrills, and chills, all this in less then 120 pages....the only grioe i have about this book (and it does nothing to affect my score) is the way the author chapteredthe book. some chapters started in the middle of a page in just no sense places.....othere the that if you like spooky ghost stories mixed with creature features then this is definitely the book for you and I highly recommend this is you want a spooky good time in a short amount of time!!

Eric David Wallace always does a fantastic job in writing this type of book. It had that horror element that I was looking for and enjoyed from this type of book and enjoyed the fairy tale element. The characters were everything that I wanted and enjoyed from this type of book. I enjoyed the use of the goblin and can't wait for more from Eric David Wallace .
