“To be without limits means that one has limitless possibilities, and that one is ready to embrace and experience all the world has to offer.”

The Earl of Savage, is a man possessed, his character is questionable but his skills is incomparable. He's had his innocent for seven days and that is not nearly enough, he needs another week, to sate his growing desire. Seven days would be enough because is all he can offer, nothing more and definitely nothing less.
I hadn’t realized how lost I’d become, moving like a ghost without a soul through my days and nights, until he had appeared to lead me. I’d called him Master as part of the Game, but that was exactly what he had become to me, and that was exactly what I’d wanted and needed.

Evelyn Hart, is the Innocent Eve, a widowed woman from the US, who was looking for status in London, but has found a place in Lord Savage's bed. In the seven days alone with Savage she has learned more about passion and desire, and what it means to give into her bodies needs and trust a man to lead her there. The first seven days were not enough and his promise of another seven is a gift given to her, even if she would rather trade it in for eternity.
For the first time in my life, I was being noticed not as a lady, distant and remote and meant to be admired but not touched, but as a woman, primal and erotic, and I reveled in it.

Savage and Eve continue their game of blind trust under London's watchful eyes. Throwing caution and decorum out the window, giving themselves fully to one another. Others may not understand the bond they have and will stop at nothing to warn her away or take her for their own; but what others don't realize is that the only thing that can tear them apart is the trust they have in their own bond.
I could taste the possession of this kiss, the savageness that was a part of his name. I felt scorched, branded by it,

Savage Nights is the second book in the Savage Trilogy, which continues on delivering a historical romance that is equally wicked & erotic. The sexual journey and consuming connection between Savage and Eve is hot enough to burn through the pages. I don't know much about historical BDSM but I am assuming that what is depicted in this book might be what it would look like during this era.

The story is told from Eve's point of view so the mystery that is Savage is still but a mystery. Savage is a complex man, we know a little more about him now however I feel like we have only scratched the surface. His need for Eve is clear as day but something is definitely holding him back. Eve may be a sexual innocent, but she is a smart woman who follows her heart and listens with her eyes. This book does not hold back on their sexual exploits, her desire and need burn strong enough to submit to their every whim.

While this does continue on to the next book, it didn't leave us hanging, it ended this particular chapter in their life and I am curious to see what is in store for the final book. I highly enjoyed this read, along with the first and I would continue to recommend it to my friends who love historical's and have a taste of erotica and light BDSM play.

So I had this love/hate thing going through most of this book. It's a continuation of the first, which I didn't read, but they re-tell enough to get the gist. The love scenes are scorching hot. I mean... SCORCHING. The relationship between Eve and Savage, however pisses me off. Savage is all caveman, "You're mine. Only mine." Then the @$$ reminds her their arrangement is for a week. -.- uhhh what? The whole Innocents thing is stupid imo The dude was obviously very promiscuous based on how she first met him so while she's ruining her reputation all around town, she can't be mad at her friends for trying to get her to wake up. It's obvious Savage is digging him some Eve but there's nothing that indicates anything deeper than him not wanting to lose his toy. The same toy that's willing to do anything of the kinky variety. The three stars go to the sexy times. Everything else was meh.

4 savagely secretive, sexy and delicious stars. I picked up the first book in this series on a whim because the overview sounded interesting and it was set during the early 1900s making it even more interesting. Honestly, most Historical Romances aren't erotic like this series which separates it completely. I'm glad I read this second one because it was just as erotically potent and wickedly sexy as the first. Obviously, there were things I wasn't too fond of since it didn't get five blown away stars.

Picking right up where the first book ended, Evelyn and Savage head to London to spend another week together as lovers. Things have to change when they are in London as Evelyn's reputation can be shattered by just enough hearsay which will make things at court and around the London upper society troublesome. There's a few twists and turns as would be expected now that the two are no longer hidden away in the country but in the city where Savage resides.

Evelyn, since meeting Savage, has really found herself. She's not some simpering idiot by any means. She's knowledgeable, caring, flirtatious, clever and honest. While her time with Savage is meant to be a purely physical and sexual exploration, she finds herself blurring the lines and developing feelings of the man. She never says them plainly for fear of losing what little of him she is allowed to have.

Being with Evelyn, Eve as Savage so fondly likes to call her, in London changes the Game whether Savage allows himself to realize it or not. Every moment spent together, every sexual encounter and every kiss seals his fate. The Earl cares for Evelyn far more than he planned and far more than he'd admit.

The novel leaves you with a cliffhanger signaling yet another book in the series. I wasn't expecting it to be a trilogy or really any more than two books. The writing is descriptive, alluring and captivating. While I'm frustrated knowing I have to wait for another book to see where the two end up, Mia Gabriel's writing appeases my sense enough because she's a true talent.

There were definitely some steamy moments in SAVAGE NIGHTS but it was all watered down by the incredibly unhealthy and co-dependent relationship developing between Evelyn and Savage. Frankly it was a turn-off.

The majority of the book is Evelyn adjusting to the new backdrop of the Game now being in London as she and Savage break the aforementioned rules and move it out of the country estate. You watch Evelyn curl more and more under Savage’s wing to the point that the relationship is almost abusive, if not physically so then definitely by control. The more the story goes on Evelyn withdraws from society. She ignores warnings made by friends and by the end of it lives only to be in the presence of Savage. She thinks nothing of spending all of her time locked up in Savage’s house, hardly wants to associate with anyone and when she does is only ticking down the moments until she sees Savage next.

Meanwhile Savage speaks out of both sides of his mouth, reiterating to Evelyn that she’s free to leave at any time but tries to prevent her from leaving and then states, over and over again, she she belongs to him, as if she were a possession. It’s all just rather . . . squicky.

Any hot moments in the book that did appear were firmly rooted in this blooming unhealthy relationship, bookended by obsession, possession, and unhealthy infatuation to the point that I ultimately couldn’t enjoy anything. I was far more turned off by their relationship than I was turned on by their sex. Total downer.

And then Blackledge pops back up in total handlebar-moustache-twirling evil-doing to the point where he’s almost comical. He effectively wants to rape Evelyn senseless but oh no we can’t call the police because REASONS and assuming they won’t be of any help (plot device) so this cartoon character is the sole antagonist in this entire story and it was all rather blah.

Or maybe Savage and Evelyn were antagonistic toward each other as they constantly misinterpreted each others feelings and actions as wanting to push the other away. After, like, the twentieth time that happened my eyes just rolled right out of my head. I absolutely hate that literary device. Such a weak attempt at drama and conflict. The story is about a couple playing a BDSM game while one of them is being is being hounded by a rapist. Why must we manufacture drama here? Just that constant nipping and pissing between the two got so old.

I more than likely won’t read on in the series. The sex was super hot and entertaining when it was confined to the Game the whole group was playing but once that setting is removed it’s just watching this grotesquely unhealthy relationship blossom and they have hot sex that I can’t enjoy because of everything I’ve already stated. They’re both incredibly insecure people, he’s uber-possessive and she’s obsessed to the point of cutting herself off from the world in order to be with him. How Twilight. It’s just too much for me to look past and put all of my own preconceived notions aside and enjoy the story. I just can’t.

This is book two in the "Savage Trilogy" series. I have not read book one 'Lord Savage' yet, so I was taken back that this book was a continuation of book one. But they go over their history enough for me to catch up so it wasn't that big of a deal when reading the book... I just liked the book so much that I had wish I had started with book one. This is also a historical romance that has our hero, Earl of Savage being very Dominance in his relationship with Evelyn Hart. So beside Evelyn being our heroine, she is also his submissive.
The story picks up with Evelyn who is an American, rich widow in the car leaving a 'party' with Lord Savage. It seems they have met seven days ago where they agreed to be 'together' for seven days and nights. Evelyn had married an older man and was innocent somewhat in the way of sex and she was looking to correct that...start to enjoy life. So after meeting Lord Savage, she knows he is what she wants to awaken her from her innocent and boring life. The previous book covers their first seven days and this book picks up where they have agreed to do seven more days. Lord Savage has decided to take her to his home for those seven days. There also is someone else who would like to have Evelyn and he is not taking no for an answer. So they are also having to deal with that issue too. When this book ended I didn't feel it had a cliffhanger and felt it ended good. Although I wouldn't have minded if there is another book as I enjoyed this one.

This was a great sequel to Lord Savage. He is just as steamy as he was before. It had a more interesting story, in my opinion. Which was good because the first book had mostly sex. NOT that I mind a lot of sex in my books but a little conversation is nice at times too!

Review originally posted at Butterfly-o-Meter Books on Feb 17 2016 :

In a Flutter: Hot but not as exciting as #1
Fluttering Thoughts:
Worldbuilding: The story continues in London, where some of society frowns upon the freedoms Evelyn and Savage take and try to push them back into line. I enjoyed this element of the story.
Characters: I felt Evelyn and Savage evolved as characters in this novel, but perhaps not as much as I would have liked them to. It felt a bit like Savage Nights suffered a bit from the second book in the series syndrome, where there are interactions and characters show some development but it feels like a liaison to the third, more important book in the trilogy. I can’t say there was too much development, aside more sex. Which is good, lol, but without the layers of tension present in the first book, while hot in itself, it fell a bit flat for me in terms of catching my interest.
What could have given an extra layer of interest to the cast of characters (and story) was the antagonist, Blackledge, but I felt his presence was too discreet to actually make an impact. More scheming could have made things more fun, for me :D I am a shamelessly evil reader.
Plot: Another point that didn’t keep me riveted was the story; but then again I tend to lose interest in romance trilogies when it comes to #2. It always feels to me like the important events take place in #1 and #3. While the sexual action was plentiful, I wasn’t gripped by tensions or conflicts much, and just when it was starting to get more interesting, the novel ended, lol.
Writing: First person, past tense narrative, Evelyn’s POV. I liked the writing, as I did in the first novel, it was one of the novel’s strong points.
Curb Appeal: Nice cover, hooking blurb – but I was already invested in the series due to Lord Savage.

All in all, I wasn’t as taken with Savage Nights as I expected I would be. Lord Savage set the standard very high though. I’ve sort of fallen out of love with stories that focus on romance and have no other strong plot going aside that. But I think lovers of historical romance with power-play themes would love Savage Nights, so I do recommend it for them. I think Mia Gabriel is a good writer and perhaps the novel would benefit from reading right after the first, when the passion of Evelyn and Savage’s union still holds the charm and tension Lord Savage built.

For me there was no real story to this book, I got up to 53% but it didn't interest me to finish it, I think I knew more about the décor of the building than the characters even after being over half way through - sadly not one for me.

I'm disgusted. Literally disgusted. This lovely woman allowed herself to become a who*e for the pleasure of a man who promised her nothing in return.

I despise women like this. She had a pristine reputation and opportunities but gave it all up for sexual pleasure with no hint of future anything. Savage wanted nothing to do with her besides sexual gratification and I just can't respect that.

I skipped through way too many sex scenes. It was ridiculous. I like romance and love. This had none of that. Just an honorable woman lowering herself for a physical pleasure that is soo fleeting and meaningless.

I read this thinking that they'd realize a deep love for each other, but that is not what happened. I won't go in to it but I'll say that was never happening. This was a complete waste of time for those who appreciate a good love story. There was no love in this. Just sex and hormones. Not my cup of tea

This book was “gifted” to me as a joke gift at a book club party. I have to give them a book report! Here goes: Set in London in the early 1900’s, this erotic historical romance (domination and submission)is about playing a timed Game, an Innocent (Eve)to her Master (Savage) who have a total of 14 days together with no commitment. Besides the romp, Eve is from New York and presented in Court to the King. The story then takes a turn where an evil Lord kidnaps Savage’s son Lawton and they have to rescue him or Eve will become the evil Lord’s prize. Of course the rescue is successful and Eve and Savage decide they will head to Paris because their relationship is more than the Game. At least it had a plot.

Savage

I am not a fan of submissive/dominate in my historical romance. It is still abuse to me. The only saving grace, I repeat, the only saving grace was the sizzling steamy hot 🔥 sex.

I loved the first book, I didn’t like all the re-telling done in this book, the point of a trilogy is to not need retellings. I also felt the ending was way too rushed like the author was on a time limit and didn’t have enough time to finish it. The spice was chefs kiss though.

My Thoughts

It's been a while since i read the first one so i had to quickly take a glimpse back to what i had thought at the end of the book to ground myself here again. I have to say that while i feel like this is a great continuation of the story - the same hesitation that i had the first time around continues here - in the sense that it's a true period book, with verbiage and sceneing that's so rightly set in the past but out of my comfort zone. That being said, we had a good bridge as the story continues.

Where we find ourselves this time around is with Savage and Eve, now that they are leaving Wrenton and 'The Game' in the confines that they have known it for the past week, they have chosen to continue the game on their terms back in London and have fled the house in the middle of the night.

Throughout this next installment, we see Savage challenge and test Eve in ways that she's not comfortable with but grows into. She's trying to overcome what she has known from New York and her protective father and older late husband, and really be the 25 yr old who lives in the moment and finds her own passions. The issue that we can all expect to see though is that at the young age of 25, she's going to fall for Savage more than what he's willing to allow for and that's going to lead to heartbreak.

We see just about everyone trying to keep her away from Savage and remind Eve that her reputation is one of high standings yet being in his company, residing in his house, all for the sake of passion and 'the Game' - she's tarnishing that and everyone's gossiping to that fact. Does she care - not so much. we'll see what that means.

In addition to some really hot and steamy passion that you see coming from the pages, the way that these two connect on a physical level is something to be seen. I don't know if they are truly connecting on a deeper level. Eve keeps trying but Savage is closed off.

The other nice thing that we get here to keep our attention outside of the bedroom is that there's a Baron who's still after Eve which causes some sticky situations. we also see the appearance of Savage's son, and what that means, well who knows. There's also a huge decision to be made at the end of this story given that Savage only promised a week and that's not necessarily enough for either or both of them. The issue being that they only committed to that, so we'll have to see what happens in the next book i suppose

Enjoyably Decadent

Savage Nights is the second book in the Savage trilogy, and the continuation of Savage and Evelyn Hart’s story. In Lord Savage, the first book, Savage introduces Evelyn into a world of sexual awakening, tutoring her and her body in the ways of pleasure. The week playing the “Game” at Lord and Lady Carleigh’s country house party ends, and rather than give Evelyn up to other members of the party, he secrets her away to his London townhouse to further her sensual lessons for another seven days.

To Evelyn’s delight, and her growing thirst for Savage, she can no longer deny that her submissive cravings and needs match that of Lord Savage’s brand of decadent desires. Eve’s submission to his sexual domination is her true release from a past life in a loveless marriage, rife in suffocating rules and loneliness. As they continue playing the “Game of Protector and Innocent” in town, Savage contrives discreet challenges for Eve to test her faith in the bond of submissive and Dom. Thus proving to Savage her trust in him to protect her. What they did not expect was the trouble that followed them from the house party in the unsavory form of Lord Blackledge. His obsession over Eve is distasteful and cruel.

Savage Nights is written in the same vein as the first book, lushly descriptive, engaging narrative, and full of sizzling sex scenes between Savage and Eve. I found more drama and angst in this installment. Well, more like, growing frustration for Evelyn as this story is written in her POV. Through her words, you share in her emotional anguish and self doubt. I mean, she is a strong, independent heroine, but she gives up control to Savage. Eve’s willing submission to him brings rewards of sexual bliss beyond her imagination, truly ruining her for any other man. She consoles her heart and soul to the fact she will emerge from her lessons as a worldly woman who has truly tasted true passion though her time with Savage is temporary. With Savage’s behavior being a little cryptic at times, and him running hot and cold, it even made me a bit dizzy. He makes Eve feel desirable and cherished even to the point of possessiveness, but he makes no promise at anything beyond sexual diversion and pleasure. He is truly an enigma, and I dislike him enough to swat him on his head. Yes, he’s broken, he has issues from his past, but I hope we get a reveal soon in the next book and get some relief from all the angst. My inner romance girl is frustrated and thinks poor Eve is getting strung along. Also, in this story we are introduced to Savage’s son, Lawton. He is every bit his father, Evelyn and he get along famously, but there is a twist at the end I did not see coming. I think it’s going to be a wild ride in the next book. And hopefully, Blackledge will be dealt with as he’s become the unrelenting and annoying villain. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series. Nicely done, Ms Gabriel.

And the game continues… in London. Savage Nights opens with Savage and Eve making their way to London, where Savage has agreed to give her seven more days and nights of training and debauchery. Much to Eve’s dismay, he wastes no time in testing her obedience when he drops her off at her hotel with strict instructions on how she is to enter. While Eve continues to flourish under Savage’s tutelage, she quickly finds the confining strictures of London society to be too smothering. Whereas Eve’s insecurities in Lord Savage were due to inexperience, her insecurities in Savage Nights are largely because she doesn’t quite know where she fits in Savage’s life as a priority. This is aggravated by the fact that she finds herself wanting more from Savage beyond the seven days and he gives her every indication that he does not.

I loved how the dynamic between Eve and Savage continues to change over their short time together. Much of book one and all of book two each occur over a week of time. While Eve becomes not only comfortable, but also confident in her sexuality, she finds it harder to envision a future without Savage in it. She doesn’t jump straight to being in love with him, but she knows that she wants more from him than the time they have agreed upon. Savage’s possessiveness and related actions make it hard for Eve to understand why he’s so willing to part ways at the end of their week. Unknowingly, Savage is simultaneously building Eve’s confidence and chipping away at it. The arrival of Savage’s son and Blackledge’s increasing level of obsession toward Eve add layers to the story. Especially the suspense when Blackledge demonstrates that there is nothing he won’t do to make Eve his – with or without her consent.

Savage Nights kept me glued to my Kindle as I had to see how Eve’s week with Savage was going to play out. More than once, I had the same amount of despair that Eve did when Savage’s words and actions indicated that they would go their separate ways at the end of the week – and I read this knowing there’s another book yet to come. That’s how well Gabriel’s writing connected me to Eve. The final chapters of the book had me terrified on Eve’s behalf and while I worry about the fallout from the incident, I was glad for it because of Savage’s proposal at the end (no, not a marriage proposal). I cannot wait for the final book in the Savage Trilogy so I can find out how Eve and Savage’s story ends.

Review:

There was such a long time between the first book in this trilogy and this book, that I had to go back and peruse the first one again. I hope the wait until book three isn't that long.

This book like the first is full of scorching hot sex. So much so that Evelyn kind of loses herself and does things that could ruin her reputation. Especially, when Savage keeps telling her that it is only for 7 days and then they will be going their own way. I kind of hated Savage, he is not a very sympathetic character and comes across as very selfish in a lot of ways. Eve has her moments when I think she is going to get a back bone and she does a couple of times and then Savage talks her into staying or forgetting about what upset her. Even though the characters are not my favorite, I could not put the story down, I had to see what would happen next and for those wickedly good sexy scenes.

Again, I hope there is not a huge lag time between this story and the ending of the trilogy.

I received an ARC of Savage Nights from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

In Savage Nights, American heiress and widow, Evelyn Hart, continues her sexual education with Lord Savage. After her loveless and sexless marriage ended, Evelyn now feels free to explore her sensuality and her desires. But what started as the Game with Lord Savage at the English country estate gradually turns more complicated, as feelings between Evelyn and Savage develop, once they return to London and decide to continue the Game. Lord Savage has secrets that keep him from fully committing to Evelyn, Evelyn is faced with the society scandal because of her relationship with Savage, as well as not everyone wants to see them together, and Baron Blackledge wants Evelyn for himself.

I really enjoyed Savage Nights, I liked both Evelyn and Lord Savage and their chemistry. I liked the writing and rich historical details. I have been waiting for the second book a long time, since the first book came out in 2014, and the wait was well worth it. I am looking forward to the conclusion

Oh, me likey my periodic romances. This was Evelyn and Lord Savage's tale. Evelyn is a widow and basically is being tutored in the arts of eroticism by Lord Savage.

Very steamy !! But tastefully written. Sometime I felt annoyed with Lord Savage and I wanted him to be a bit "nicer". But alas he is a Dom and that not in his hard wiring !! Eventually he did show his softer underbelly, but Evelyn certainly went through a few trials for it to be discovered !!!

Evelyn and Lord Savage's relationship was complex, but I did enjoy their getting to know you process (not just biblical !!!!!....mind out of the gutter peeps ;0) ).

Overall a good read, well paced and well written. So why 4 Shiney's Donna ? Gah, it ends on a cliffhanger.......NOOOOOOO !!! I am sure book 3 will ease my annoyance at not having it ready to go !!!. The sign of a good book, when you want the next like yesterday !!

Well done Mia and many thanks for this opportunity xx

Later peeps xx

I received copy of Savage Nights from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Currently 1/3 way through the book. It isn't going well for me. I'm finding the characters one faceted. I admit the sex scenes, and there are many, are scorching hot. Will try to finish this book later. Now though I'm going to read something else.

I find the writing is very good for this type of book. Though it's not for me, I can see how other readers would really enjoy it. Feel I should finish this book and I promise myself I will. It's possible this is a book I will like more after I finish it.

Downton Abbey meets Fifty Shades is what came to mind when I came across Savage Nights. I enjoy the pomp and circumstance of historical romance, but I love a different take on the typical. I was intrigued by The Game that Savage and Evelyn are intertwined. Touted as a country distraction of Masters and Innocents, a quiet weekend it is not. But I was game, as was Evelyn, to follow Savage. The carnal tutelage that is suggested is classic erotica, however it doesn’t blend as seamlessly with the time period as I hoped.

Thank you to St Martins Paperback for the ARC.

ARC provided in exchange for honest review.

I did not know this was the second book in the series. There is enough history and details provided that this does not matter. After the Game, Savage takes Evelyn to London for another week to continue their lessons. Here their relationship develops further even though there are secrets and scandals that could destroy them. The author does a great job of showing how their feelings deepen. Even though it is an erotic romance there is a good story. I am interested to see how book 3 will continue the story.

3.5 stars. I'm having the same reaction to this book as I did to the first one. I like a lot of the elements of it, but there are some elements that I'm not overly fond of, but most of the time I have mixed feelings when it comes to these characters. I'm hoping the next book (I'm assuming there will be a next one given the "trilogy" series name and the abrupt ending of this book) wraps the story up in a more satisfactory way. I almost feel like my like or dislike of this series hinges on how the next one goes...

Savage is amazing! He is naughty and sophisticated all rolled into one. I loved how Eve never let anyone's opinion of her matter. She went after her man and reputation be damned!!
So hot! I am just sad that Blackledge ruined the perfectly set up romp on the balcony of Court. I love the sex swing scene. Wowza!!

I liked Savage he might have been rough around the edges but he had a good heart, and even if he didn't show it good intentions, “you’re a lady who has become important to me,” he said gruffly. “I told you that before. I do not wish any harm to come to you.” Overall I liked this book, some aspects not so much but overall it was a good read.

I haven't read the first book in this series but I got an idea of what the first book was about from reading this one. Although I'm not usually a fan of historical romance, this book wasn't too bad. Savage is a typical alpha male and doesn't like sharing and Eve is his innocent. Their love scenes are incredibly hot and you can clearly see the attraction between the two.
