I was a lucky First Reads winner! Thank you! After this past winter, I was anxious to hit the course ASAP. I was glad to have something to read about golf and help me practice indoors. This insightful book helped me develop a practice plan for the weakest part of my game - driving.
Like any golf book by a season professional instructor, it is packed with excellent information, and can certainly help your game, especially if the traditional swing hasn't been working out, or has become more difficult to execute due to age or injury. But like pretty well all golf books, how much it helps is fully dependent on how well you process the information and properly apply the techniques. The truth is, without formal, live instruction, you are unlikely to truly master the principles of the swing to truly revolutionize your game. Certainly worth a read-through, however.
Nothing new here. Very confusing read, as it was difficult to see what text went with what picture. I have a few of Leadbetter’s other books and videos and this one is not up to his usual quality.
I just started golfing and find the book is a helpful guide. There are a lot of details in Golf swings especially for someone who is new to the game. David did a good job of calling out those critical details in this book.
Mostly a picture book, good for a beginner. Good drills and basics, full of illustrations not a lot of text but a clear way start learning the golf swing.
The A stands for "Alternative Swing" and is really focused on the back swing. If you were ever taught how to make a reverse slicer's loop, taking the clubhead back outside the hands and then shallowing out your swing during the downswing its along those lines. It is a somewhat simple approach but then that's the point, to simplify the swing and increase consistency.
I don't feel any approach to the golf swing is going to fit all golfer's but I do believe Leadbetter's approach would help most golfers enjoy the game more which is pretty high praise for an instruction book.
I received this through a Goodreads Giveaway contest and it has helped improve my game. Whether beginner or pro, I think this book has something to offer every golfer.
