I never know what to tell people about myself. I live at home with my handsome bearded half, my brats, and my zoo.

The characters in my stories are very vocal and demanding. They have no problem keeping me up at night until their lives are properly displayed on paper.

I write about everything from alphas to vampires to hockey players, and everything in between. Welcome to chaos!

Genre: Dark Romance
Trope: Why Choose MFM, Forced Proximity

Web of Lies is a dark romance, and she is daaaaark. This is one of those that you should go in not knowing too too much about it. I believe going in somewhat blind will enhance your experience. This book is spicy, and Avanne Michaels knows how to deliver the spice (ALWAYS). This book is well written it is fast paced and keeps you on the edge of your seat. It does end on a cliffhanger and does not let you feel too settled for even a moment. Looking forward to the next book in this duet, and hoping that Larken catches a freaking break, and that certain characters get what is coming.

This book had me seething, so angry, and wanting to throw my Kindle across the room for the first third or so of the book. So much so, that I was contemplating stopping. But herein lies the problem, without giving any plot spoilers away: I was PISSED with the FMC. Her complete blindness as to what was CLEARLY happening and complete lack of self-awareness..... I was so frustrated with her to the point of losing my ever loving mind... then it clicked: holy shit, am I victim blaming here?!?! Am I THE PROBLEM?!?! had a wee bit of an existential crisis and did some major self-reflecting, but then I thought, well, if a book can bring out such a visceral reaction, does that not mean I'm invested?!?! So I continued, and boy, was I glad I did! The last 2/3rds were much easier to read (well, there's a blip at one point, but I digress), I loved the dynamics, intrigue, suspense and palpable tension between our FMC and her 2 would-be kidnappers (but inadvertent rescuers). I highly anticipate the follow up, I need to know what happens and husband of the year needs to get his comeuppance (very painfully and not so within the confines of what's legally acceptable)...

Caged deception

OMG!! What the heck was that? I just got sucked into this book and did not see the ending, cliffhanger by the way, coming. Holy hell I have to have the answers! Larkin is a smart business woman that had her world turned upside down. She found herself kidnapped but still reeling from the trauma that she thinks her husband caused. Wyatt and Shaun agreed to a job. Yet that job has turned into so much more. Can they save their kidnapee? We will just have to find out. Lots of twists, hate the husband, I need a kidnapper like that vibes!! Must read.

Web Of Lies by Avanne Michaels is the first in the Tangled Web Duet. We meet Larken - she's living the good life, just married, getting ready to take over he fathers company. Then suddenly a tragedy happens and her life spins out of control. Wyatt and Shawn are hired to do a job and when they realize things are quite what they seem - things change. I hope you know who gets you know what in the second book. I can't wait! TWs to watch out for. Loved it!

That's how the book ends?! Grr. Otherwise, this was truly a great start to this duet. Those first few chapters really had me feeling for Larken. Adrian is a grade A d-canoe. I'm excited to see how everything plays out in part 2. I want to see Larken find her strength and give Adrian everything he deserves. Wyatt and Shaun are chef's kiss. What was once a job just turned out to be so much more than anyone bargained for. Time to impatiently wait for part 2!

This book was so good. I love the characters and how the relationship between them developed. The phrase “the hits just keep coming” is a perfect description for this story. Larken keeps getting knocked down and doesn’t even have the opportunity to stand back up before something else is thrown at her. I was dying to know more about the prologue, but it’s still a mystery and then the author ended this with a cliffhanger! I need the next one asap!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The beginning of the book was terrifyingly claustrophobic and I barely read the first chapter. The rest of the story was very good, it kept my attention and something happened near the end of the book where I simply felt a "drop" in the dynamics and I started to lose focus. The end totally killed me because I realized that there would be a second part, who knows when, and now I'm pissed and frustrated because I have to wait. All in all, the story was ok and I enjoyed it

This book had me on the edge of my seat! I read it all in one sitting and immediately went to the author's Instagram to (respectfully) demand the next book. The kidnappers-turned savior dynamic was an interesting spin and well executed in this case. It suspenseful and POOR Larken. I could easily imagine her life as a true crime documentary on Netflix or Hulu (some of my fave things to watch).

I like it, but what I didn't like was the cliffhanger :D it is a nice MFM story with suspanse and spice, the perfect combination.
