Taming of a Wolf

Jamie

Could a grumpy Viking werewolf be the missing piece my broken family needs?

Between being a single parent to my little brother and running my late grandma's bookshop, I've got no time for anyone else. I need a guy who will prioritize my brother like I do. If I can't find someone like that, I'd rather be alone forever.

When a time-traveling Viking werewolf flies out of a portal and crash lands at my feet, I get more than I could have asked for! Anders Eriksson takes one sniff and declares me his fated mate and before I know it, our fates and lives become intertwined.

Anders may be a villain in the past but to me, he's sweet, a little awkward, and he fits so perfectly into my little family that it's impossible not to fall for him.

But Anders is determined to return to the past and get revenge against the ones who wronged him.

Will he choose a future with me, or will he leave me behind like everyone else I've ever loved?

Taming of a Wolf is book 2 in the Viking Wolves series featuring a grumpy villain redeemed by his sunshine fated mate, found family, and a happy-ever-after! Though this installment is a standalone, the series is best enjoyed sequentially.

Ugh! Don’t we all love a good redemption arc?? I absolutely did not love this any less than the first, maybe I even loved it a tad more. So far I ADORE THIS SERIES SO MUCH!!

Anders is the oldest of four brothers in a wolf-shifter pack in a small Scandinavian village many hundred years in the past. He resents he wasn’t chosen to be the Alpha heir. His youngest brother was. He is jealous and also blames Wulfric for the death of their parents and we saw Anders doing despicable things to Wulfric and his mate, plotting against him, causing trouble and dividing the pack to usurp the new Alpha. This book begins with his exile to the modern timeline where also the Alpha’s mate was from. Only to find his own fated mate there too. Jamie.

My nose heals in seconds, though I wish I could say the same for my pride, and I wipe away the blood with a scowl. My mate just punched me and ran away.

And damn I loved their dynamic. Seeing Anders care for his mate and his younger brother—who lost their parents and were on their own—and seeing Jamie taming the big bad wolf that was the villain to his own pack and family.

“Don’t hold back. No more puppy dog Anders. I wanna see bad dog Anders.”

So sweet, so hot and so so heartwarming and swoony. Even if at times it a bit too mushy. *lol

My tbr is a disappointing mess these days so I was sooo happy I got this a few days early as this book was one of my most anticipated reads this month. God, I can’t wait for the other books in the series to come!!!

Oh hell. How did I go from getting no action to suddenly being the object of a Viking werewolf’s affection? I’ll take it.

TROPES:
🐺 Wolf shifters
🐺 Vikings
🐺 Time Travel
🐺 Fated mates

Time-traveling Viking tries to blend into the modern world.
I loved big puppy dog struggling with human customs and technology. A cute shifter romance with a nice dose of hurt/comfort.

“Even the sun has days where it doesn’t want to shine, pet. That doesn’t make you undeserving of love.”

In this installment, Anders, ‘villain’ of book one, is exiled to the future, where he finds his mate. A lovely redemption arc and a sweet love story. I’m very much looking forward to seeing the other Viking brothers get their HEA.

I have finally found someone made just for me, and I am not losing him.

I didn’t care for this one nearly as much as the first. Jamie irritated my soul. He pushed for Anders to open up and then wouldn’t open up himself, and then pushed him away. I also didn’t really like most of this being set in NY. I much prefer Ulfheim.

I enjoyed this book much more than the first one. I was surprised how much I came to like Anders after the first book but he is just coming from a place of real hurting. Jamie is too but they heal each other with their love. Anders and Jamie are perfect together and make the sweetest family with Jace.

Heart of a wolf saw Kieran time travel to the Isle of Ulfheim, Off the Coast of Iceland, Year 831

‘Blowing out a breath, I blink up at the tent ceiling. Time travel is real. Werewolves, or ulf-whatever he called them, are real, too.’

Kieran and the alpha Wulfric end up being mates and fall in love.

We meet Anders , Wulfric’s brother, who wants to be alpha . He sets up Kieran , then later has some villagers attack Kieran. There is a duel between Wulfric and Anders. Wulfric wins and Anders is exiled.

Last time we saw Anders , Kieran had gone to the future and run into him working in a bookshop cafe.

‘Red bursts in Anders’s cheeks, his jaw tightening as he grinds his teeth. “I can’t kill them?” “No!” Jamie hisses, whirling toward him with his hands on his hips. He’s a foot shorter than Anders. A growl rumbles in Anders’s chest. “Can I maim them? Just a little bit.” Jamie throws him a sunny smile and bats his eyelashes. “No.”

Sooo
Now this is Anders and Jamie’s love story .

Jamie is ready to find the one. He is guardian of his ten year old little brother Jace, he owns a bookshop … and he can sense people’s emotions through their scent.

Anders , having been exiled, has travelled to the future and crashed in front of Jamie.

Anders blames his little brother for a lot, that anger blinds him.

‘We both know if I had been Alpha instead of that runt, I could have protected our pack!” Instead, my father was murdered, most of my pack was slaughtered, and Wulfric packed us up and moved us to an island we came to call Ulfheim.’

‘He stole so much from me: first, my father’s love and adoration, and now, he steals me from my home and my pack. He will pay dearly for this. I don’t even bother looking at Kieran.’

Anders and Jamie can scent that they are meant to be, but Jamie doesn’t realise it. Anders is going to ignore it.

Jamie wears a necklace, a wolf slumbering at the roots of Yggdrasil. The symbol of Anders clan. A way for Anders to travel back to the past. Anders knew Jamie’s grandmother, she was a time traveler.

He tries to steal the necklace , then asks nicely 😂

‘My mate just punched me and ran away.’

Jamie and Jace find out Anders is ulfhednar, a Viking werewolf. Not only that, but they are too.

Anders shows Jamie how to transform into his wolf. Jamie now realises Anders is his mate and goes into heat. Sexy times!

‘Wow. My life really is a smutty shifter book.’

Anders tells Jamie about himself, his time, his brothers and his pack.

‘I will do what must be done to save my pack, and for that to happen, you must give me your necklace. I am willing to earn it. Just tell me what I must do.”

Jamie puts him to work at his bookshop cafe , stocking the book shelves and keeping the store clean.

They decide on three months of working and living with Jamie and Jace.

‘All I want is to bare my heart and soul to him while he holds me tight until all my broken pieces cease to ache. I can’t. I can’t let him numb my anger. I need my fury to do what must be done and save my pack.’

Anders meets his coworkers , humans.

‘Anders sets his jaw in a scowl. “I will never befriend humans. They are the enemy, and my fight is with them.”

Aww he goes out drinking with his coworkers and they help him out in a bar fight. It was actually The Travelers Council, approaching Anders to welcome him and remind him of the rules.

Some more sexy times with Anders and Jamie.

Bonding time with Anders, Jamie and Jace.

Kieran and Amanda are at the bookshop.

“what is your problem with Kieran? He’s a nice guy.” Anders’s face flushes red with rage. What did I say? “He’s not!” he snarls, lurching to his feet. “He’s the human who seduced my brother, the human who threatens the future of our pack!”

“Am I going to lose you to this obsession for revenge?”

Jamie gives Anders his necklace but Anders promises to return to him.

Everyone is happier without Anders there - ouch.

‘They all love Kieran. Somehow, this human has become a trusted, beloved member of the community. The village is whole, thriving, and happy. The sight fills me with sweet relief, and yet… something isn’t sitting right with me.’

Back in the future Arlo from The Council stops into the bookshop.

Anders comes back to the future.

“What I did was unforgiveable, and now, I’ve lost them. I pushed away everyone I’ve ever loved, and I don’t know how I can make it right.”

Jamie also has a bad day, it’s not just his birthday, it’s the anniversary of his parents death.

Anders organises a really romantic moment for Jamie.

Jace gets injured and Jamie pushes Anders away.

“You are my home.” I grip his hand tight, desperate to keep him here with me. “You are my family. Do not send me away. Please.”

Jamie’s rejection sends Anders berserk.

Jace is not impressed Jamie has sent Anders away and takes matters in his own hands.

‘My necklace is gone, and I understand. Jace took it. My little brother has gone to bring Anders back himself.’

Anders reconciles with his brothers.

Jace couldn’t go back in time but Jamie does.

‘Arlo goes to speak, but Anders’s brother snaps, “You do not bear his mark! You will not have entry.” “Hold on, Guthark.” “Gunnar,” the bear of a man says. Arlo gives him a pinched smile. “Sorry. I’m a bit distracted by your rugged good looks. This is Anders’s mate.” Gunnar shoots him a narrowed look.

Gunnar shakes his head. “Follow me.” He jerks a shoulder, motioning for us to follow, then breaks into a jog. “I’ll be right behind you, enjoying the view!” Arlo singsongs, and a growl rumbles from Gunnar.’

Hmm perhaps next book couple?

Jamie finds Anders, he’s transformed into some monster.
Jamie tells Ander he is his family and he’s choosing him. They declare their love.

“You said that I was your mate,” Arlo says, eyes wide as he searches Gunnar’s face. “Did you mean that?” The blood drains from his face, and he lets Arlo fall into the snow. Gunnar stumbles back, his chest rising and falling quickly. He says, “No. I have no mate. Not anymore.” I can almost feel the devastation on Arlo’s face. It’s the look of a man whose heart has been broken.’

Definitely next book couple.

Or it could be Lyall and his mate Soren - who I think lives in the future … and doesn’t remember him!

Jamie's love life is a joke. The books he reads have more action than he gets. The rare dates he gets rarely make it to the end of dinner since has he has taken over care of his brother after the death of their parents. He is hoping that tonight ends differently, but as soon as his phone rings, he knows the night will end early and after his date's attitude about him leaving because his brother needs him, he knows he won't be seeing him again.

He doesn't need anyone in his life who can't accept that his brother's well-being is his top priority. He opens the door to the bookstore that he inherited from his grandmother. It was his haven, and he was lucky to have great employees who helped between the books and the cafe.

He and his brother take a walk by the river before heading home when kneeling next to Jace they notice a shimmering light in the water that gets so bright they have to cover their eyes. Then the water begins to bubble and what? A rowboat just appears from nowhere and is racing towards them. When it crashes to the ground, they see a man lying on the ruined boat.

Where did this man come from and why was he wearing armor and furs?

Anders had been banished from his pack. One minute he was rowing the boat out to see, and then the next he was blinking his eyes at the man and child bending over him.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. This book has its own HEA, but I would highly recommend that you read this series in order as the characters are recurring and to fully understand Anders and his banishment you need to read his brother Wulfric's story.

This book is action-packed and, despite the danger, will have you laughing as the Viking Anders tries to navigate modern times. Especially when he the time and place he is thrown happens to be the home of the man he hates and is determined to kill. Highly recommend!

Taming of a wolf, Viking wolves book 2 is technically a standalone, but it’s so much more enjoyable reading the first one first. You first meet Anders and Jamie in heart of a wolf. Anders is a pretty big character in the first book in fact, he happens to be a pretty bad guy. I really did not like Anders at all and going into his book I was worried that he would not be redeemable. At first I was skeptical but crap I have a soft spot for that jerk Anders he’s a lovable grumpy jerk who is so sweet to Jamie and Jace. I love how seeing Jamie’s life and what he goes through really opens Anders eyes to the person he was and how Jamie slowly changes Anders just by loving him.

there were so many twists and turns I never saw coming. I’m pretty sure I’ve said this before but CJ Ravenna is a fantastic storyteller. Took me on a journey I never wanted to leave.
My emotions were all over the place. I couldn’t put it down.
And oh Arlo and Gunner. Please say they will get their own book.

“Anders’s family has more drama than a soap opera and I’m addicted.”

Well said Jamie, well said
I’m also addicted I need the next book stat.
I loved Anders and Jamie’s story and I can’t wait for the other brothers books 😬😬
I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

I was so looking forward to book two of this series. I really enjoyed book 1 and couldn't wait for book 2. However it was only about towards the end when I realized that I had been reading about Anders adjusting to his new life amongst humans, and nothing had actually happened. Nothing moved along to reveal Jaime's hidden secret, or Anders and his apology to his pack.

There were many times in the book that I felt like things were easily left unexplained or they just mysteriously disappeared. I'm honestly not one to pick up on those types of holes in a book, so I don't understand why I noticed it here, normally I just go along enjoying the story, but it was really glaring for me.

Also the whole bully situation at school seemed a bit unfinished. I'd like to have that resolved. I really didn't like how it was handled by the school, like suspension was enough and didn't even do anything about the other party. Like that whole presentation day, they just left at the end of the presentation, the teacher didn't even say like it was ok to go home? or that the teacher just let Anders talk the rest of the time without checking on time for classroom management.

I'm pretty sure I'm still going to be looking forward to Gunnar and Arlo or Lyall and Soren.

You did it, CJ Ravenna. You made me like and care deeply for the most unlikeable character from the first book. Congratulations!

I have to be honest, I was a little worried when I found out book 2 would be given to Anders. For spoiler reasons, I won’t elaborate. Go read book 1, even though a lot of it is explained in this book as well. It’s definitely worth going back to read the first book if you’re reading these out of order. Wulfric and Kiernan’s story is amazing as well and you get this other not-so-great side to the main character in book 2.

That being said, I loved Anders and Jamie’s story. I loved watching Anders grow and learn about the human world and come to understand his own hang-ups and traumas as well as others. Watching him care for other people instead of leaving them in a state they needed to be cared for was surreal and magical. I cannot wait to see what comes next for these wolves and their mates!

Taming of a Wolf is the second book in the Viking Wolves series. Although this book could be read as a standalone, in my opinion the series is best read in order. This is the story of Anders a werewolf from the past and Jamie a human. I didn't think these two would work so well together but they just do. Both of the guys had to learn about each other and themselves. I loved the characters and world building in the series. I loved that this book was set in the present and watching Anders figure out modern technology. This was a wonderful redemption hurt/comfort story. I can't wait for the next book in the series. Any book that can make me laugh and cry is one I would recommend and this one did both so I would definitely recommend it and the series.

Thank you so much to CJ for this arc!
We met Anders in book 1, and he was in desperate need of redemption. Anders was angry at the world: at the humans who harmed his family, his younger brother for becoming alpha, his brother’s mate for being human. His anger was fed by guilt and jealousy, and it led him to being exiled from his pack. What he didn’t expect was for his exile to send him to New York City in the future. It’s no place for a Viking warrior, especially a wolf shifter, an Ulfhednar.
When Anders washed up in his boat and finds Jamie, he sees a ticket home: Jamie has a relic that can allow for time travel. But Jamie is more than that, he’s also Anders’ mate.
Jamie had demons of his own, guilt, hurt, and grief from his past. As much as he wants a partner, his younger brother is the most important thing in the world to him, and nothing or no one will come before him. The only way a man can fit into his life is to love and care for his brother as he does. These two have a lot to work through if they want to find their HEA.
A sweet and emotional shifter romance with a grumpy wolf-shifter, his sweet mate, lots of spice, snd and a wonderful found family.

ARC review

I was curious about Anders book and his redemption arc and I have to say I liked it.
Anders was a jerk and more in the first book, not deserving of love or family. But as we read this book, we see a diferent side of him, a side no one has ever known. Does it excuse every bad thing he did? Not by a long shot. But it did made me see him in a whole new way. I wish his family took more time to forgive but it's fine.
Jamie had been taking care of his brother for years and he was his priority. Enter Anders and their little family becomes a little more complete. Jamie understood Anders and never judged, he was simply there for him.
They made a really good couple, I can admit that much.
I can't wait for the other two couples but I'm especially hyped for Arlo and Gunnar

Fun, easy to read time travel/Viking wolf shifters pack/fated mates romance. I didn’t respond to it as well as I did book 1, but, it was entertaining. This is book 2 of a continuing series, and it would help to read book 1 first to get the backstory on MC Anders and why he’s been banished from his pack/people.

Viking-times and wolf-shifter Anders was banished for his truly egregious behavior in book 1, and sent through the time portal to a contemporary...I think it’s Manhattan or the boroughs? The setting didn’t gel too much, but, that’s what I recall. Not important, he’s in a present-day city.

MC Jamie is trying to get by and raise his little brother, Jace, who lives with extreme anxiety after the deaths of their parents years ago. Jamie too has trauma—at 18, he was driving the car when they were hit and his parents were killed. But this is long after, and now Jamie owns a bookstore.

Jamie and Jace are by the marina when a flash of light explodes and suddenly they’re ducking to avoid a flying ship, carrying a man who could have walked off the set of Vikings, complete with furs. Anders is shocked and majorly out of place in this contemporary world of metals and cars and SO many...oh no...humans. Humans killed his parents and many of his pack/clan back home, when he was a bit younger, and much of his internal conflict stems from his struggles to come to terms with his little brother Wulfric becoming pack alpha. His unforgiveable actions have landed him here.

So begins a typical time travel of a man from centuries ago trying to learn present-day life and customs, and wanting to go home. And another man from today learning to help him, open up his small family to this arresting, somehow incredibly attractive man and figure out what the undeniably strong draw between them means.

There’s a lot of flip-flopping/contradiction in the story; these two are mates, but it doesn’t seem like Anders intends to do anything about it, then it does, then it doesn’t...it got a bit exhausting. Anders just wants to go back but needs a wooden wolf necklace Jamie inherited from his grandmother to do it...and it turns out, Jamie’s heritage matches Anders’s own. Jamie isn’t human. But given they both can travel back and forth, the conflict didn’t really seem like a conflict.

It's fun to see Anders struggle to learn to cope in the present, and there’s tension from the will he stay, won’t he stay, will they claim each other, won’t they (but, honestly, they’re fated, soooo why is this a question??? I didn’t get it. If Anders doesn’t claim his mate, that’s a whole ‘nother kettle of bad things, so...??? The reticence became a bit silly, tbh). Jamie’s challenges with raising Jace added layers to the conflict, and the book mainly focuses on whether and how these two can align their differing responsibilities and desires to form a family. Jamie’s bookstore friends/employees are lovely.

The writing didn’t feel as strong in this book, it was far more predictable and cliché feeling than the first one, and not very authentic with details, but, I still had a good time reading it. Just felt the original sparkle wasn’t there, and things that shouldn’t have been a big deal were, and things that should have created more issues didn’t. But, still fun overall.

HEA, time travel, wolf shifters, Viking hero, fated mates. No other-person action in any way; entirely safe for me. Recommended for those who enjoyed book 1.

My thanks to Gay Romance Reviews for the ARC; this is my free and impartial opinion.

Rip my heart out, why don’t you CJ?

I thought I had my emotions in check after reading book one of this series. I mean, I knew it would be a bit heavier than the first one but I didn’t expect it to be as emotional and funny at the same time.

Anders is a bitter, resentful man who vowed to take revenge on his brother for what he perceives to have been wronged by. He wants nothing more than to make him pay for taking his place as pack alpha. After being exiled from the pack, his hate and resentment grow even stronger.

Landing in the future after being cast away, he literally stumbles upon Jamie, his mate. The one he never thought he would find. But his revenge is more important to him than finding happiness.

Jamie is cafe bookstore owner who’s ridden by guilt after losing his parents. His only purpose in life is to take care of his little brother Jace. But he longs to find someone who will love him and his brother just as much.

Together, the three of them become the family they always wanted but Jamie’s guilt doesn’t let him accept the fact that he deserves to be loved and happy. He believes that his only priority in life should be his brother, not himself.

Meanwhile, Anders thirst for revenge wanes the more time he spends with Jamie and his brother. He wants to open his heart to the love that Jamie wakes in him, but Jamie’s guilt threatens their chances of being happy.

Being with Jamie makes Anders realize how wrong he was about his brother. How much he wishes he could make amends with family but seeing how he was the problem to begin with, fills him with sadness and shame.

On the other hand, Jamie feels that being with Anders took time away from Jace, therefore he decides that it’s best for Anders to go back to the past. Breaking both their hearts in the process.

Jamie wanting to focus on only his brother even though he wanted Anders, and Anders going berserk thinking his mate rejected him, broke me down.

To say that I couldn’t stop the tears reading these two beautiful, broken men navigate through their pain, it’s an understatement. I wanted to hold them both and just hug them tightly. My heart broke for them both.

There were also extremely hilarious moments with Anders trying to figure out this new world. The Henry Cavill and ship moments at the end of the book had me crying from laughter 😂

Beautiful book and characters. I can’t wait for the rest of series!

i enjoyed the first book in this series so immensely i was incredibly nervous to read this second book. there’s NO WAY it could bring the same energy that the first book did. and AND on top of it all—the author’s got the unmitigated AUDACITY to ask me to not only forgive, BUT FALL IN LOVE WITH the alphahole, dickhead, dumbass, IDIOT villain from the first book?!?!

audacity, indeed

well, here i sit, just having scrolled through the final page of the epilogue. and i’m absolutely eaten alive with sadness that anders and jamie’s story has come to an end

not only did i grow to love anders, i actually loved him more than wulfric, which i didn’t think was possible. anders had so much to overcome. exiled from his family, thrust so far forward in time it may as well be an alien world, he has hurt and anger from the past still left to sort through, there’s a modern world that requires he adapt to it quickly, and a new pack that he has to find the strength, integrity, and softness he lacked in the past in order to hold it all together. this viking takes it on the chin constantly, and from all sides. and despite his frustration or confusion he keeps dusting himself off over and over again

and jamie is the perfect mate for anders. he and his brother jace have lost their parents, so jamie is trying to raise his brother, AND run a bookstore, AND find love. all while fighting a lot of VERY unresolved trauma. he needs anders in his life to show him he’s not alone, and to accept both him and jace, AND all their messiness. this is all made even more complicated by the fact that he discovers he is also ulfhednar. so these two need each other in every conceivable way

i enjoyed this book way more than i should have. it flew far above my expectations and i’ll be damned if i know how the author managed it, because the first book blew my mind. what goes above that? what if it, THAT’S where i am. absolutely gobsmacked, and madly in love with this grumpy, lovable, resilient viking

read this book. you should read the first book before this one, because there’s a lot of spoilers for that one in this one, but it’s totally worth your time

Man, I really liked book one, but I struggled with this one big time. It took me AGES to read it, when a book this length typically takes me a day or two, depending on how busy I am.

I was really looking forward to Anders’ redemption story. It actually starts off pretty good. He’s not a completely different guy, but he does begin to see different perspectives, which eventually soften his edges a bit. I also liked that he’s written with a decent sense of humor here. He was so unlikable in book one, so I needed something to humanize him from the start in order to relate to him and start to be willing to accept that he can truly change.

Jamie also starts off very funny and likable. But I feel like his character does a 180 in the wrong direction. Honestly, the entire book after about 1/3 in becomes very contradictory in regard to dialogue, thoughts, and actions. It was giving me major whiplash. It was like the author wanted to have this back and forth, push and pull, but it wasn’t executed well, and just frustrated me to the point I started disliking both MCs and their story as a whole.

There are also a lot of big moments I felt got skipped over that I really wanted to see. For example, when Anders and Jamie are in Anders’ time and they just up and Irish goodbye his family after a huge turning point with them. Why wasn’t there a detailed goodbye and “we’ll see ya again soon” written? There were a lot of these awkward time jumps throughout. And, there were quite a few plot holes and continuity issues that had me questioning how much this author really planned out this book.

I also got bored and found myself not really feeling Anders and Jamie’s connection after about 50%. Their intimacy felt forced and not sexy or passionate at all.

Overall, I’m disappointed with this book, but I am glad Anders found his HEA as well as peace within himself and with his family. I’m looking forward to Gunnar’s story, but I’ll have to think about reading Lyall’s…I really hate the amnesia trope.

Jamie

Could a #grumpyviking #werewolf be the missing piece my broken family needs?

Between being a single parent to my little brother and running my late grandma’s bookshop, I’ve got no time for anyone else. I need a guy who will prioritize my brother like I do. If I can’t find someone like that, I’d rather be alone forever.

When a time-traveling Viking werewolf flies out of a portal and crash lands at my feet, I get more than I could have asked for! Anders Eriksson takes one sniff and declares me his fated mate and before I know it, our fates and lives become intertwined.

Anders may be a villain 🦹‍♂️ in the past but to me, he’s sweet, a little awkward, and he fits so perfectly into my little family that it’s impossible not to fall for him.

But Anders is determined to return to the past and get revenge against the ones who wronged him.😤💖

Will he choose a future with me, or will he leave me behind like everyone else I’ve ever loved? 👀❤️‍🩹

Nipping right on the heels of book 1, book 2 opens with the troubled & aggressive brother Anders appearing in NYC at the feet of his fated mate.

The jaded Anders struggles with a lot of familiar history, jealousy, guilt, & longing. His aggressive nature and his need to be right/ be protective of his pack is at an all time high. But that doesn't stop the strings of fate tying Anders & Jamie together.

Their bond is taut as attraction & desire swirl around these two loved up boys. With Jamie's past of tragic loss, being a parent to his younger brother and running a bookstore/ cafe- he doesn't think he is worth anyone's time.

Anders' is everything Jamie needs and more. Hence the fated mates. The book hopped on quick to the spicy times and trust me is was hot hot hot.

This book had a lot of remorse & wanting forgiveness that it kept the story moving along at a great pace. With the addition to a lot of side characters to help shape Anders for current times & special side characters to help move the next books forward as well.

We get a lot of new information about the loss concerning all the Alpha brothers, i.e. their parents. There is a lot of blame throwing and high tempers throughout the storyline, but eases when reflection comes into play.

Character development was great in this book. Not just Anders, but also Jamie & Jace. Everyone has a lot of guilt, sorrow and worthiness issues. They work together as a pack to help navigate that no one is going anywhere and no matter how dismal it might feel, everyone needs to work on stuff. It made the relationship that much more real in my opinion.

From exiled to reconciliation, it has it all. This was a much more emotional book, but it really needed that aspect with Anders being stoic and being harsh with emotions, He softens for Jamie and Jace in a way that made my heart warm and fluffy.

Plus, we get a bit of a taste of futures that I am hella excited for!

Taming of a Wolf - CJ Ravenna
5/5✨🌟

* Grumpy Viking wolf
* Hurt/comfort
* Sunshine single parent
* Fated mates

* SPOILERS *

I love me a good redemption book and man, this hit me so good. I was in my feels for hating Anders but then falling in love with him and Jamie. I just wasn’t expecting to be in all feels with this one, especially to the things that Anders did in the first book. I just expecting to be an emotional mess for Anders.

When Anders gets exiled by his pack, I just wasn’t sure what was going to happen and seeing him meet Jace and Jamie was so perfect. Just by Jamie’s first chapter, I knew that Anders was going to be the one to really save Jace and Jamie from everything that the two have been through from losing their parents. The way that Anders wanted to be in Jamie’s life even having to take care of his brother was everything because he was like his protector.

It was so cute when Jamie first shifted and started to chase his tail. That was adorable. Also, Anders having a surprise greet and meet for Jamie of one of his favorite authors was so sweet.

The things that Anders goes through for his happily ever after with Jamie and his family was everything that he needed. I just wanted to hug him from the one scene when he went back in time the first time because he felt like his brothers were better off without him.

I really loved how Anders how to get accustomed to living in a different world. Loved every challenge he simply had to go through.

I cannot wait for the next installment in this series. Also, the found family in this one was absolutely everything for me.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Independent reviewer for GRR, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is book 2 in the Viking Wolves series, and I do recommend you read book 1, Heart of a Wolf before this one. It will give you a better picture of what Anders does to warrant his exiling. You do get a recap here, but I think you need it from Kieran's point of view to get the full effect. And, cos I bloody said so!

I loved book 1, I really did. And I loved this one too. It doesn't bite the same way as book 1, but it's bite is different and just as powerful!

While book 1 is a slow burn, this is full on INSTA for Anders and Jamie and I loved the marked differences in the two tales. I'm gonna be doing a lot of comparisons but I will try to keep them to a minimum!

What I particularly loved, and this probably makes me a bit weird, was the pain these two carried. Anders, for what he did, what he thought he was doing for the better of the pack, but deep down?? He was hurting just as much as Wulfric was at the death of his parents. But he wasn't any better able to stop that than Wulfric was. And Jamie, at the death of HIS parents, that he believes was his fault. I cried when they both told the other their deepest pain.

I loved that Anders was able to get some sort of closure with his brothers. I expect there is more pain to come from the other brothers though, about their parents death.

Loved the introduction of Gunnar's mate, and the revelation that Lyall's is still alive. I hope I get a chance to read their books!

Loving this series, and I highly recommend them!

Karen, pepper spray, boopable snoot, goth clown, dangerous dust bunnies, perfect pec pillows, 'just the tip', shrooms cereal, ship Loren

Reading Book 1, "Heart of a Viking" must be read before this book. It'll be a waaay better experience if you do.

OMG! But, WOW! This is just as good as, if not better than, "Heart of a Wolf, Book 1"! Jamie is just adorkable while being an awesome brother/father figure to Jace. On top of that sweetness is Anders, exiled ulfhednar and brother of Wulfric from Book 1. He's just a "puppy dog"!

Anders won my heart because he tries so hard to learn how to prove himself worthy of being Jamie's fated mate. Plus, I can't imagine being exiled, but exiled to a different (distant future) timeline and a completely different way of life? Truly admirable! To Anders, humans are what the Klingons are to the Federation.

However, Anders has so much anger and hate, vitriol, and a thirst for revenge. Also, he has a chip the size of Gibraltar on his shoulder. But, Jamie is kind and patient with him. And Jamie has an enchanted necklace from his grandmother that Anders believes will return him to his correct time and place. He can simply snatch it from Jamie's neck, but he won't do that to his fated mate. So, Anders makes a deal to earn the necklace from Jamie.

In my opinion, this is sort of a lengthy novel. But, this book is soooo good and couldn't put it down! Because Book 1 is extremely good, I absolutely gobbled this novel. To say I enjoyed it, is a huge understatement! I enthusiastically recommend this book!

I think I've just found a new book to add to my favorites title.

I'm sure you've read the synopsis already so I'll just get right into it.

Anders is a grumpy of the grumps who many would classify as the villain. He has so much rage and grief inside of him that it makes him act out in ways that are unforgivable. He doesn't care about anything besides his revenge. But that all changes when he gets assaulted by his fated mate.

Jamie is a single parent and is also having trouble with grief and putting himself first. He self-sabotages relationships in his life, at least the romantic ones, and is content with the option of living the rest of his life alone. Well, that all changes when his fated mate literally crashes into his life.

Their story deals with healing, forgiveness and growth. These two flawed characters are two pieces of a puzzle that just fits together. They learn to trust each other and be in the moment regardless of the obstacles, time being one of them, getting in their way.

I absolutely loved seeing Anders change for the better. His character was written so well to the point where you sympathize with him even before he starts redeeming himself. He was the warmth to Jamie's aloof behavior. And Jamie was the reasoning behind Anders' self-loathing.

Honestly the books in this serious just keep getting better and better. I am so looking forward to the next books in this series.

What am I supposed to do with my life now?!

Even though I LOVED Wulfric and Kieran’s story, Jamie and Anders was on a whole ‘nother level! The emotions, the feels, the way this book had me by my heart!!!

It all starts when Anders was banished from his pack and ends up in Jamie’s world (which coincidentally is the same timeline as Kieran). As soon as they see each other, they know. They know they belong to each other. Still, is easier said than done.

Without spoiling too much, the road to love, understanding and forgiveness (from each other and themselves) is hard yet so worth it. I loved how CJ managed to write such an amazing redemption arc for Anders, to the point I had no choice but to fall in love with him. And Jamie? My sweet, sweet cinnamon roll deserves the world! And I’m so happy he managed to find it with Anders. These two are definitely destined for each other and I love how they’re opposite sides of the same soul.

Also 10000/10 for the movie references ;)

10/10 it has become my fave and I can’t wait for it to become all of yours too.

What to expect in this book:
-MxM shifter romance
-Hurt/Comfort
-Found Family
-Second Chances
-Mental Health Rep
-Knotting
-Roleplaying
-Time Travel
-All the feels
-HEA

Overview:
Overall: 10000/5
Storyline: 100000/5
Smut: hotter than Pepper x on the SHU scale/5
The feels it made me feel: still sobbing from the feels/5

TAMING OF A WOLF is the second book in the Viking Wolves series. This time, it's exiled Anders who finds his mate, and talk about grumpy/sunshine! Anders and Jamie are a pair you wouldn't think would work on the surface, but offer each other more healing and love than you would have thought possible.

It is a case of instalust for them both when they first meet, and I loved how Anders told Jamie immediately what he was and what Jamie also was. Anders' apprehension about telling others was 100% justifiable, the same as Jamie's confidence that his friends would believe differently. Their story is full of emotion and hope, even as darkness and depression claw at them both.

Honestly? I am LOVING these stories. And Anders having the opportunity to make his past right again is something I think everyone has wanted at one time or another. There was so much to this story, and I loved every moment.

The best advice I can give you is sit and savour every moment of this book. It will make you laugh, and it will make you cry - or it did me, at least! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book and the series, and look forward to returning for Operation Loren.

Who doesn’t love a good redemption arc?

We see Ander’s feature quite heavily as the Vivian of the story in book one of this series. In book 2 we are thrown straight into his story and into a completely different time line. You see a very small snippet of Anders in modern times towards the end of book one, but see nothing of his story. After being exiled by his brothers and pack, he finds himself in modern times right in front of his mate. The first interaction between Jamie and Anders in great a punch to the face is exactly what you felt like he needed.

But.. Anders grows and allows himself to grieve, to think about his actions and the past. He flourishes with Jamies love and car and becomes I think my favourite character so far in the series. Jamie has not had it easy, between working all hours and looking after his much younger brother, having someone show him an ounce of care and vulnerability was a hard pill for him to swallow. The both work on communication throughout the book, but the events leading up to their mating were heartbreaking. Anders being so close to becoming just wolf without his mate after growing so much was almost mean of the author. Jamie was brave when he needed to be, took the risk and went after him, fighting for them to be together. I look forward to seeing how the brothers relationship grows throughout the rest of the series, as well as the brothers stories themselves.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I really enjoyed this book and also thought that it was a good addition to the Viking Wolves Series. I enjoyed getting to immerse myself in this exciting world that CJ has created. This book is a lot more angsty than Heart of a Wolf which is understandable considering everything Jamie, Jamie’s little brother Jace & Anders have been through.

Man, I wanted to reach through the pages and hug Jamie, Jace & Anders throughout this book. I loved seeing Anders softer side come out where Jamie & Jace are concerned. I was also totally here for the bond formed between Anders and Jace and seeing Anders trying to navigate the modern world made me laugh. Fate sure knew what they were doing matching Jamie and Anders together, total opposites, grumpy/sunshine but utterly perfect for each other.

I thought their chemistry was completely off the charts, as well as hot as hell and their happily ever after was definitely a satisfying journey. I liked seeing Anders reconnect with his brothers. I’m looking forward to reading Gunnar and Lyall’s stories when they’re released, as well as more books by CJ in the future. I’d recommend this book, series and author to others.

******I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book and would happily review it even if I purchased it myself. My thoughts and feelings about this book are completely unbiased******

Anders is a grumpy, growly, and scowl beast of a villain. Well, at least he was the villain in the previous story. He’s been exiled and when he lands in New York is at the feet of his mate, Jamie. Of course Anders doesn’t fall into his mates arms immediately because he wants to return to his own time and challenge Wulfric and prove Kieran is up to no good. But he can’t resist the pull of fate. Jamie is a young man that wants romance but is anchored down by the grief and guilt of losing his parents and grandma and left to care for his 10 year old brother and his grandmas bookshop. When his mate, a Viking of a man falls at his feet, he’s a bit bewildered and confused. These two have a lot of issues to work out, Anders is an angry man, holding onto his anger and blame of others to push them away so he never loses anyone again. And Jamie has his own loss and guilt and grief that he clings to to protect himself. But these two are adorable together and I love how Anders falls for Jamie’s little brother, Jace too. They make a sweet family, if they can all get over their issues, they’ll make a fantastic family. Such a cute fated mates story and a unique world the author has built. I love returning to the past of Vikings and seeing Anders reactions to the modern world. Wonderfully written and amazing characters with endearing moments of love and strength.

Taming of a Wolf is the second installment in the captivating Viking Wolves series, which seamlessly blends ancient Viking lore and modern-day realities. The series takes readers on a thrilling journey where shapeshifters exist alongside time travel, immersing them in an extraordinary world.
In this gripping sequel, we follow Anders Eriksson, a character introduced in the first book, who has faced exile. Sent through a mysterious portal, he crash-lands in the present, right at the feet of Jamie Sullivan. Upon awakening, Anders recognizes Jamie as his destined mate. Their first encounter is comedic; as Anders aggressively sniffs and questions Jamie, he receives an unexpected punch before Jamie takes off running. This humorous yet emotional opening sets the stage for a delightful and engaging love story.
The characters in “Taming of a Wolf” are richly developed, providing depth to their interactions. Anders’ humorous struggles with modern technology add levity, while the darker undertones of family loss and trust issues create a compelling narrative. The story also includes moments of heat and excitement that keep readers on the edge of their seats, culminating in an uplifting, happy-ever-after ending.
Taming of a Wolf offers an engaging blend of humor, emotion, and supernatural adventure, where love transcends time and binds fates together.

Jamie Sullivan is struggling trying to be a parent to his younger brother and run his grandmother’s book store and café. When a boat crash lands almost on top of him, Jamie is not sure what to think when a man dressed like a Viking of the year 831 is in the wreckage. Anders Eriksson had been exiled from his home for his aggressive behavior. He takes one sniff of Jamie and states that he is his fated mate. Jamie finds him adorable and a bit awkward as he learns his way around his new home. The only problem is that Anders is determined to return and save his pack. Jamie wants Anders to choose him but is afraid that will not happen.

These two would seem to be incompatible but somehow it works. Anders is adorable as he tries to figure out how all the gadgets work. From TVs to cars to phones, it is all new to him. In addition, modern speech is filled with sayings perfect for misinterpretation. The two also come with their own individual baggage and together they find ways to heal. It turns out some things transcend time. Love is one of them. If you enjoy a grump meeting sunshine, found family and love, then this book is perfect for you. While prior reading would enhance this story, it is enjoyable no matter what!
