Fiona Arlett escaped a life of rules and dairy cows to live it up and go to college.
The most renowned sorority - Phi Delta Chi - holds the best parties.
As a member Fiona has to join in with their competition.
The prize? One exclusive night with James Reid. Ex-teen-TV actor, current undergrad.

Only the winner is allowed to have him.
But... James might have banged Fiona against a wall, and through it. Literally.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The story and the romance was just fine for me, 3 star worthy. It contains; sorority hazing, bitches, new besties, boozing, dancing, freedom and THE guy.
But...
I really REALLY loved Fiona and her antics. Though she's definitely an acquired taste, she suited me perfectly.
Ex-Amish, gone wild.
'The first thing I did was go out and spend an insane amount of money on crop tops and little skirts. The next thing I did was glue myself to the nearest hot boy's face.'

She's extreme, confident, crazy, rogue, aggressive, competitive, stubborn, sassy, rude. She's a girl who gets told she has to go to a party naked, and does. As long as she can wear shoes. And of course, they have to be killer heels.
'I'm never wearing clothes again. They're a terrible invention. I was born to be naked.'

Fiona deserved a whole star. She was the best thing about this book.

Re-read update: still love the shit out of Fiona and have to say that since I'd read this book she is my most beloved kick-ass female character!

So, for the sake of kiss-ass chicks

description

Ok this was a fun read. The story is ok, James is quite nice and I do like him but Fiona is just fierce!

She is the reason I'm giving this book 4 stars. She is hilarious, she has self esteem to the moon and back , she's strong and she takes what she wants. It's so refreshing to have a female character that is not running around like a headless chicken and it's even more refreshing that there is not all of the denying of that she thinks he's hot. She can make a couple of heroines in other books run for the money.
I did laugh tears because of her and I salute to her a couple of times in the book.

Ok but I will stop the fangirling now

As you can see I have a huge girl crush on her right now

3.5 stars. I enjoyed this book primarily for one reason...the h. She was well written. well developed, funny with a believable strength and stubbornness. The beginning (not the very beginning, though) showcased her personality spot on and I was hooked on knowing more.

There were editing issues and some OTT moments that had me rolling my eyes, but I was captivated by Fiona's narrative. She could have easily come across as slutty, arrogant and unlikable; instead, she was bold, fierce, confident and energetic. At times, Fiona was a little too frenetic but not so much that I wanted to step away. Honestly, the romance and the H took a back seat to Fiona. I wish that I felt more connected to the H and that I enjoyed the events in the story more.

Come check out the reviews on my blog Under The Cover

I really enjoyed this book. James Games was the kind of book that has a big bundle of crazy in it, moments that are almost too much to be believable and yet, I was able to see beyond the craziness and over the top moments and I loved it. I laughed so hard while reading and this book kept a smile on my face almost the entire time I was reading it.

"Life is all about choices. At this particular moment, my choice is between A: Jumping naked into a bush from a second-story window and B: getting torn to shreds by a gorgeous girl in Prada. The devil really does wear it."

Fiona's character had a lot to do with that. She was the bundle of craziness in the book. Her personality is over the top and she is a very free spirit but she was hilarious to me. She has almost no filter when it comes to her mouth and her inner voice made me burst out laughing more than once.

"If you don't dance like you're a weapon at concerts, all flailing arms and jabbing elbows and swishing hips, you'll end up feeling like you're a kitten at an elephant convention. Cute, but dead."

You get the kind of person she is from chapter one and it's what got me hooked. I have to say that at the beginning, I wasn't sure I would like her. She is very promiscuous and well, she sure is not virtuous at all. And well, even though she was fun to read, her attitude didn't really work for me. But then I understood why she was that way in the beginning and it started making sense to me why she did what she did and thought the way she did too.

"Now I'm living the life I was always meant to have - a life of fun and sex and crazy wild antics - and nothing is going to stop me. Not my family, not some skewed sense of morality, and not my heart. Yuck."

I loved that her character was so optimistic and fun and non conformist. I like that she never backed done from a challenge and didn't let other people intimidate her. I loved how loyal she was to her friends and how she'd always put them first. And I loved how she stood up to Sigrid the Crazy Bitch.
But most of all, I liked how she was with James.

"Somehow I ended up caring about you, James. And that's not something you can just get yourself out of. Once I like you, I'm a for-life type of girl. Like hepatitis. And nothing you say is going to say that."

Her connection with James was really something I enjoyed reading about in the book. At the beginning, their relationship is a bit rocky and mostly lust driven. I'm thinking about two scenes here. One involves a wall and the other a classroom. Those scenes were seriously hot if you ask me. But even though the sex between them was really good, what I liked even more was when they began being frenemies and slowly evolved to being friends.

"I joined Phi Delta Chi to get in on all the good parties, not have a battle of the vaginas over some guy."

I loved that she was able to see past the famous hottie and be his friend. The way the other girls acted around him was honestly a little pathetic if you ask me and Sigrid's attitude toward him was the most pathetic and shitty of all, especially when you know what the James Games are and how they came to be. But Fiona, because of who she is, was able to really see him and love him for the man he is and not the famous actor that everyone wants a piece of. She always wanted to know the real him and not the guy the magazine made him to be.

"You won my heart by being you." He brushes a strand of hair off my forehead. "Wild, brave, intense you. There was no competition."

James was great too. At first he is a bit of an ass with...well with her but with everybody too. But quickly, you find out that he's a great guy, but he is a little scared to let people in. Also, he has a secret that he's succeeded to keep hidden for a long time and letting someone get close to him makes it hard to keep this secret. I liked that Fiona gave him time to open up to her.

"That's what trust is all about. Letting the other person see you with your guard down."

The secondary characters are really cool too and I enjoyed Fiona's circle of friends. Sigrid was the perfect bitch and I really enjoyed hating her. She was seriously a crazy lunatic but you don't realize just how crazy she really is until the end. Honestly, sometimes I was really frustrated that no one manned up and stood up to her because for the majority of the book, Sigrid just acts like a bitch unpunished and that really pissed me off. Injustice tends to do that to me. But all is well that ends well. Sigrid get's what she deserves.

"I realize that life really is all about choices. At this particular moment, my choice is between A: getting hazed to death and B: getting it on with James Reid. Again. Then again, sometimes your body makes choices for you."

If you're looking for a book with a never written before plot, this is probably not the book for you. The plot is nothing you've never seen before. But I still had a great time reading it and I would recommend it if you are looking for a fun read with a spitfire of a heroine, a really hot and sexy hero and a whole lot of craziness.

4.5 Stars!

Fiona Arlett is a wild animal out of her cage. Concerts, Sorority parties and boys... lots and lots of boys, that's what her college is going to be all about, and she's there, ticking off sexcapades from her list. But when her sorority holds a competition involving James Reid and the rules are to steer clear from him until the end, she's about to be doomed because guess what? She already banged him.

L.A. ROSE HAS DONE IT AGAIN! Another hilarious new adult romance by this awesome writer! I've never been so excited for this novel ever since I read the excerpt of it on Adrian Lessons, and let me tell you, I was pumped to read this because I knew this was going to be a really great read, and guess what? I was right!

If Mean Girls and Wild Child were mashed together to be a romance comedy, with lots of college parties and getting drunk and having sex, yep, I think this book would definitely be it. (And I love those two movies so much, which is why I enjoyed this book a whole lot!)

In this amazing piece of hilariousness, we meet Fiona Arlett, our crazed-in-the-head heroine. The moment she stepped foot into college, she's turned wild and crazy in a single snap. Having been Amish during her whole childhood, college is finally the time she can unwind and be a regular teenager with a cool social life. Yep, all she wanted was to be part of the cool kids. Her childhood is basically an Echosmith song: "I wish that I could be like the cool kids..." Hah! And what could be more cooler than being a member of the most popular sorority in campus, the Phi Delta Chi? That's the dream, alright.

The Phi Delta Chi holds an annual competition and guess who the prize is? JAMES REID. Imagine her surprise when she realizes he's the guy she banged about a week ago (ABOUT A WEEK AGO, WEEK AGO! #SorryNotSorryToThoseWhoGetTheReference). Trouble is, the rules are no one gets to touch James until he chooses the winner at the very end of the competition. Add in Sigrid, an obsessed mean girl who would make it a life goal to make Fiona's life a living hell if she ever finds out about Fiona and James.
Life is all about making choices.

At this particular moment, my choice is between A: jumping naked into a bush from a second-story window and B: getting torn to shreds by a gorgeous girl in prada.

The devil does really wear it.

And why she's even naked and about to get torn to shreds by the devil in prada, well, y'all are going to have to read.

"Are you down there, Fiona? Everyone's waiting for you."

I stab my thumb upwards. "Do you hear that? That is the sound of my death. If she finds out I slept with you, I'm fucked. And not the good kind."

***************************************************************

At this particular moment, my choice is between A: getting hazed to death, and B: getting it on with James Reid, again.

Then again, sometimes your body makes choices for you.

James Reid is a celebrity. He's an ex-child actor but still lives life under the limelight even on campus, and is the dream boyfriend of every girl (and gay boy) on campus. A victim of a past mistake, he tries to correct his errors by owing Brooklyn, which resulted to the James Games, where all the girls of Phi Delta Chi pine for a single date with him. But when he meets Fiona, he can't get enough of her ever since that wild concert night, even to the point of faking a fire alarm just to get her alone. *wiggle wiggle*

Fiona's determined not to win this competition by going against the rules in order to prove that she doesn't care about James. But when the person you try to avoid so much is always there to your rescue, and keeps on getting in your pants, well, all hell's about to break loose.

"How's your arm and head?" he asks me.

"Horny. I mean, hurting. Hurting! Not that much, though. Just a little."

Yep, sure you are, Fiona. Sure you are.

Now if you've read the first book L.A. Rose has ever released, Adrian Lessons, you'd most likely compare AL's Cleo to JG's Fiona. Well, they're both crazy, with a mouth and brain that's got no filter at all and they're equally funny as hell. She's wild, insane and doesn't back down from a challenge, hence, Sigrid's constant hazing. But she's the kind of character I definitely would want to be friends with because she sure knows how to have a good time. Heck, Fiona is my girl, her and I are just like two peas in a pod. Except for the parties. And the drunken nights. And the hot sex. Yep.

Meanwhile, James, oh my beautiful James. He's the most misunderstood character ever. He's quite distant and aloof, obviously doesn't have many friends. Basically, he's a famous loner. This makes me just want to hug him, because despite his repressed personality, he's charming, protective and absolute sweetheart. He's the kind of character you'd instantly fall in love with, the perfect hero for a romance comedy like this.

I really enjoyed the relationship between James and Fiona, the instant tension that just flares up like things are about to get down... and dirty. And the idea of them fooling around behind everyone's backs is what makes it so good because of the intriguing curiosity of how they would be officially together in the very end.

And what I'm so glad about this book is that despite having a lot of characters mentioned, they're unforgettable, because each and everyone of them has a particular personality that makes them stand out, even if they only appear once or twice. (Of course, I wouldn't doubt L.A. Rose's writing skills.) In comparison to Adrian Lessons, I'd say L.A. Rose did a better job with the secondary characters in this book. We have the Queen B, Brooklyn, literally the Queen Elizabeth of the sorority, and Sigrid, the redhead Regina George, and her minions, Amber and Ellie, and then Fiona's two best friends, Iris, the punk rock chick and Mags, the quite mouse.

As much as I want to go into detail about how this book made me laugh and get all giggly and even a couple of parts made my jaw drop, like woah, I really don't want to spoil further. I'm really excited for you all to read this book, it's insanley sweet and explicably funny, which makes me so excited for another L.A. Rose creation. I can't wait!

“People don’t need to be strong enough to face reality,” I finish. “They need to be strong enough to understand that reality might be different from what they’ve always been taught. And that doesn’t have to be a bad thing.”

I receiver a digital copy from the author in exchange of an honest review.

I gave Adrian Lessons four weak stars but I have to admit that it was closer to three. It was the debut novel of L. A. Rose and considering that it was amazing. I was afraid of James Games because, let's admit, the synopsis is kind of messy thanks to all the questions in it. However I can't remember enjoying a book this much in a while or forgetting about time and read through the night without looking at the clock once. Guys, read it if you haven't yet because James Games is something else, and L. A. Rose is an author I really need to pay attention to in the future.

Like Adrian Lessons, James Games isn't really deep, it's rather a fun and cute read with adorable characters. All of them are so real, they are relatable without being forced. In L. A. Rose's book I'm always able to understand the characters even if I'm nothing like them.

What annoys me in most NA romance is how the story concentrates on the characters sob stories and the present is trapped in the background. I loved that these people had problems in their past but they were able to not talk about them all the time.

L. A. Rose does know how to write funny scenes, that's for sure. More than one time I caught myself laughing and James Games just put me into a great mood without being forced or too cheesy. I'd recommend it to those who enjoyed Adrian Lessons or any other funny and sweet NA Romance.

The Characters:

Fiona: I loved her character and yet again L. A. Rose did her magic and made me relate to her even though I'm totally different from her. My favorite thing in Fiona was that she didn't complain all the time, and believe me when I say she would have had enough reasons to do so because some girls gave her a really hard time. She was a good friend and was able to admit when she was being stupid.

“I’m sorry for being so snappy. I’d heard all about this James Reid guy and hated the idea of him. My pride didn’t want to anyone to think of me as just another girl drooling over him. So when I found out hooked up with you already, I hated you even more. Without even knowing you. That was pretty dumb.”

James: I was a bit sceptical of his character. Who hadn't read about the cliché of a famous person? Fortunately he proved me wrong, he was an incredible male lead who changed a lot by the end of the novel.

Iris: I love love love her. She had an interesting personality and was a great person. One of my favorite things in James Games was the banter between her and Fiona. I'd love to read a book from her POV because I want to see her family life after what I saw in James Games.

“You did too tell me to sign up for that class! You said everyone took it as an easy way out of the math requirement!”
“Oh, right.” She leans back and chuckles. “Yeah no, that class is hell. Everyone regrets signing up for it. I told you to because I hated you our first week.”
“You are not fucking serious.”
“I am.” She yawns, looking mildly impressed with herself. “That was pretty deliciously evil of me.”

Favorite characters: Fiona, Iris, James, Mags
Least favorites: Sigrid, Amber

The story idea: 4/5
The realization of the story: 5/5
The characters: 5/5

REVIEWED FOR BIT'N BOOK PROMOTERS

1REVIEW BY ICE

This book was recommended to me by my friend Ellers and I'm so glad I read it.

Fiona from the start, is represented as a sassy, slightly mad, five-foot ball of laughs. She is what makes this novel so damn hilarious and wonderful. The opening lines draw you right in and don't let go. I was instantly in love with the narrative and only started reading it in the first place thanks to Hellvis quoting from the book.

I ask her, 'What book is this?'
'James Games,' says she.
'I have to read it,' says I.
And I did.

Fiona is a runaway Amish lass, who after years of being repressed in so many ways, wants to make up for lost time and bang whoever she wants, whenever she wants. She enjoys being loud and having fun and getting with the next hottie. We find that those actions hold consequences.

Before the book begins, Fiona has become unlikely friends with her roommate Iris, who I absolutely agree, is Ell's kindred spirit. Her sense of humour is so much like her, though I did see bits of Ell in Fiona. I think that's why I loved the book so much. It had my best friend written all over it.

Anyhoo, after a lot of fun, Fiona goes to a rock concert where the popular local band is playing. Squeezing her way through the mosh pit, she eyes a spot at the front and lunges for it, but it's taken by an annoying masked stranger. Who turns out to be a very hot masked stranger, who—after several minutes of eye-f*cking—drags her to a closet (hmmm, classy) and shags her through a wall.

Yep, you heard. THROUGH A WALL. Leaves a big hole in there. Har har.

So, as you can imagine, she can't forget about him. Rumours of an actor going to the same university has spread, but she pays no mind to the pining women. Even 'I don't give a shit about anything' Iris wants a piece of him.

Fiona discovers that to stay in that Phi Delta Chii, she has to participate in the James Games, where the ladies of Phi Delta Chii must battle to win a date with James, the hot actor. But, the rules are that they can't do any funny business with him, or they lose. Life done shit on Fiona, because it turns out, she HAS banged this actor. The masked stranger who shags through walls = James the hot actor. Oops. She has a Phi Delta troll on her tail who would just love to eat her for breakfast, so the last thing she wants is for people to know about her and James Reid. She vows to stay away, but it isn't that easy.
I just adore the narrative. Me and Ell giggled like school girls on crack and rainbow dust. It was so funny. The blurb proves that much. But it also has hearts, and guts, and a bit of spleen. The characters are well done and individual. There's some underlying morals involved, but it's mostly a lot of fun. If you want a good laugh after a not so good week, this is it.

Just make sure you don't read it in public. Might find the commuters around you edging away. But who cares, right?

“Once I like you, I’m a for-life type of girl. Like hepatitis. And nothing you say is going to change that.”

I'm not going to lie, I am so surprised by how much i enjoyed and adored this book, it was just freaking hysterical and sexy. I cannot begin to tell you how much i laughed throughout this book! I do not regret starting this at 3 am, i had to go downstairs to finish it because i was laughing so hard!!
I know some people might not like Fiona, with her over the top, excessive, free spirited behaviour. But she made the book for me with her freaking amazing personality! Seriously! From the opening lines, i instantly fell in love with her, she is one sassy, fiery girl! I loved her trips to the school nurse, they were hilarious! It's so refreshing to have a heroine, especially in new adult novels to be confident, daring, cheeky and just a wonderful character in general. She doesn’t worry about her body image or worry she isn’t good enough for a celebrity or the rich kids she associates with. In fact, Fiona says what she thinks and isn’t intimidated easily. I also loved James, the deliciously, sexy, slightly tortured campus celebrity. His encounters with Fiona were so entertaining - the hilarity of each situation they find themselves in were freaking awesome. It did help their chemistry were off the charts hot!!

"Life is all about choices. At this particular moment, my choice is between A: Jumping naked into a bush from a second-story window and B: getting torn to shreds by a gorgeous girl in Prada. The devil really does wear it.

.....

"You are a strong, beautiful, independent woman and the fact that you're dressed as a big chicken does not detract from your sex appeal even one bit.

.....

“Do you hear that? That is the sound of my death. If she finds out I slept with you, I am fucked. And not the good kind of fucked.”

There was so many damn funny scenes but i can't copy and paste everything!
Anyway James Games was truly what i needed, a fun, sweet, entertaining, sexy story! I haven't laughed this hard when reading a book in ages!

DNF @34%.

I tried...I really did. But the h was super annoying. While I understand she was out to sow her wild oats after leaving the Amish community, I still found myself wanting to bop her in the head a time or two. Also, even though I was 34% into the book, I still did not get enough of the infamous James.

There was too much rambling. The plot was meh.

I just had to move on.

After reading Adrian Lessons by L.A Rose, I was under the impression that I would never read a novel with such amazing characters again . . . then she releases James Games. This book was such a pleasure to read! Ms.Rose has this remarkable ability to create characters who are so funny, down to earth , and just all around relatable. With her first novel Adrian Lessons, we meet a girl named Cleo, a writer who creates the "steamy" scenes in her bestfriend's romance novels. Adrian our second character, is the "Sex King." An anonymous writer for the college's sex column. Cleo was absolutely hilarious. I haven't laughed that hard while reading dialogue in forever. Adrian matched her goofiness, and the couple definitely hit it off with their similar personalities. On the other hand, in James Games, both main characters are total freaking opposites. Not all authors succeed in making this type of attraction work. Sometimes the characters are so different, that they repel like trying to stick two magnets together. Thank goodness Rose was able to pull this off successfully.

In JG we're thrown into a whole bunch of crazy. The story starts off with our main character Fiona, drunk and as naked as the day she came into this world. We follow her thoughts as she debates whether to jump out of a frat house window. But it's not exactly what you think. Let's back up back a bit.

Meet Fiona Arlett.
A 19 year old free spirit, whom we would all label as crazy. After leaving the Amish community where she was raised until she fled at 14, she decided that her college years would make up for what she has already lost . . . freedom. So she enters school with a IDGAF attitude, and clearly she doesn't.

Fiona and her roommate/bestfriend Iris, both pledge to join the Sorority Phi Delta Chi. It's one of the biggest, most popular sororities on campus, and both want in for different reasons. Iris is trying to walk in the footsteps of her older sister who was also a Phi Delta Chi girl when she attended UCSD. Fiona on the other hand is just looking for a good time. PDC is known for their big parties, which is right up her little alley. But Iris isn't exactly telling the complete truth as to why she decided to pledge, and that's where our second character, James Reid makes his debut.

James Games is a competition hosted by 4 upperclassman girls. Brooklyn - the sweet & genuine ring leader, Ellie - she's always on her phone so she isn't really important, Sigrid - the devil herself, and Amber - the devil's sidekick. Here's the breakdown on the competition:

James Reid. Upperclassman. Does NOT date anyone, except girls from Phi Delta Chi.

The competition was created for every girl to:

A. For every sorority member to get a fair shot at Mr.Reid himself.
B. To help prove which girl is the most worthy of winning that fair shot at Mr.Reid himself.

At the end of the semester, points are tallied up (by the seniors of course) and the girl with the highest score, wins a date with James.
The winner only gets one date, which is a full night with of course, Mr.Reid himself, with the activities being completely up to the winning girl of Phi Delta Chi.

Yeaaa, James Reid is clearly a piece of meat to these people lol.

A week prior to attending the sorority's initiation meeting, Fiona has a hot and steamy run in with a mysterious masked guy at a concert. Unbeknownst to her, the mystery guy was actually James, and here ladies and gentlemen is where all hell breaks loose.

The number one rule of James Games is:

No touching James before the end of the competition.

Breaking the number one rule before you even begin pledging?! Tsk, Tsk, Tsk Fiona.
Anywho, after discovering who James was, and Sigrid's obsession to have him to herself, Iris and Mags another PCD girl they befriended, deviate a plan to keep Fiona off of his radar. Fiona is to "throw" every event they have to compete in. If the initiates have to show up at a party wearing the sexiest outfit they can find, Fiona has to do the complete opposite. But with her pretty face, and ability to command an entire room, her efforts to loose the competition doesn't go unnoticed. James is still intrigued despite her efforts to loose the challenges. With all this talk about the man behind the competition, let's dive into his character justtt a little bit.

James is just a normal guy. Well, as normal as a child star could get. That's right, James was a child actor on a hit show until he quit for reasons unknown. He attends UCSD . . . obviously, and has become the topic of everyone's conversation. But he's not as outgoing as I figured him to be. Even though he was a young actor, comfortable being in front of camcorders and flashing lights, he was quite socially inept. I mean James was such an awkward character, but I loved the aggressive personality he had hidden behind that shy exterior. Not to mention how closed off he is from other people. He doesn't let anyone in, because he feels as though no one, not even himself can be trusted. But there's something about Fiona he can't stay away from.

I absolutely loved their friendship turned relationship. Things did happen pretty quickly, mainly because of the "one night stand" they had in the beginning of the story. To the outside world, he was quiet, not really invested in getting to know people, but with Fiona he was a completely different person. One of my favorite things about his connection with her, was that it seemed so natural. When a incident happened involving Fiona and another guy at a party, he stepped in showing a side no one had ever seen. From that day forth, he was super protective over Fiona. Always making sure she was okay, and even coming to her rescue when Sigrid would get out of hand with her bullying. He was so nurturing, and with Fiona being a bit of a loose rocket, he definitely helped to calm her down. As I mention before, and as you can obviously see, these two are not one in the same. But what's interesting, instead of their personalities clashing causing them to hate each other, (which they pretend to do, so Sigrid wouldn't kill Fiona) it actually bought them closer together, making them a perfect fit to such a weird puzzle. To my surprise, Fiona actually experiences what us readers like to call "character growth", or "character progression". From the beginning , Fiona has this in-your-face attitude. She's cocky as hell, shallow, and oh so vain, but when her "friends-with-benefits" situation with James begins to get a little deeper, this diamond in the rough gets her shine on, and blossoms into a sweet little flower.

Okay, I lied about the flower part, but she does undergo a serious reality check and calms down . . . a little.
She's young and having fun, a little too much fun if you ask me, but it's okay, we're going to let her live this time.

What I love the most about L.A Rose and her wonderful books, are the characters. The main characters are always extremely likable, and her secondary characters aren't just created as an after thought, or content to fill up some space. Nope, you'll find yourself loving them all, even the one's you're supposed to hate. But, what made me give James Games a higher rating than Adrian Lessons, was the fact that it felt like L.A Rose was taking a risk this time around. She covered controversial topics such as, sexual assault and bullying,
and they were done extremely well.

I really enjoyed how the heavy topics didn't bring down the feel of the book. This story is fast and fun, but she was still able to mesh that with some serious moments. Good balance Ms.Rose, good balance.

All in all I think many of you will enjoy this book. I will agree that there are some absurd scenes in this story, but it's very fitting to our main character, so it worked for me. There still are quite of few topics I wanted to cover, but with this already being dreadfully long, and with me trying my hardest not to spill any tea, (spoilers) I decided to cut this baby short. Or as short as any of my reviews will ever be lol.

So my dear readers, if you're looking for a nice change in what you've been reading,

pick up this book, and take a walk on the wild side !

The main character get a whole star to herself because she was hilarious. Book lost a star for lame villain and becomes progressively cringier story line/love interest interactions that just seemed like the author gave up.

I think it's official to say I'm a fan of L.A. Rose. I didn't quite love James Games as much as I loved Adrian Lessons, but it doesn't diminish the fact that I still enjoyed this book. I don't know how she does it, but she captures the elements I love and wish to see more in the new adult genre. I love Fiona. She's quirky, hilarious, awesome, free spirit and is just a wonderful character in general.

“Once I like you, I’m a for-life type of girl. Like hepatitis. And nothing you say is going to change that.”
She may say the strangest things, but how can you not love this girl?!?!

I love the fact the fact that there is no slut-shaming. Although there is the antagonist who does, but Fiona doesn't.
"I turn. Brooklyn is an utterly gorgeous Catwoman, black latex clinging to every athletic inch of her. It’s enough to make a girl question her sexuality. ”

Can I get an AMEN for no slut-shaming. I love this book aside from the romance element, the importance of friendship. Female friendships are elements I love reading about. Females appreciating and supporting other females is just wonderful. I find that jealously is a trope that many use for the main characters to dislike someone for the way they look or act, because of something to do with the love interest. It's commonly seen in female characters . We, as females, should stop seeing other females as enemies. Girl power is important, it's important to see females be more positive towards one another instead of negative. So I love that Fiona just appreciates beauty whenever she sees it. I also love Fiona's friendship with Iris and Mags. It was a very fun, honest, and supportive friendship.

I wasn't the biggest fan of James when he was introduced. He's an asshole right from the start, but like Fiona, I eventually fell for him. There was exactly one quote that instantly made me like him.

“It wasn’t. No matter what you’re wearing, or not wearing, that’s not giving someone permission to attack you. What he did was on his shoulders. No one else’s.”

Can I get a hallelujah for the acknowledgement that victims aren't asking for it because of the way they dressed? I have huge admiration for this author so much already. I'm glad Jame's acknowledged that because he exhibited some asshole type behavior, but he's not a sexist pig so he's good in my book. Throughout the book, when we got to know him more, he's a very sweet guy. I enjoyed seeing him open up and connect to Fiona. They bring out the good in each other. I felt that their relationship developed into something so genuine, it brought many smiles to my face.

I felt the ending was a little bit too rush in my opinion. I would've liked it to see it be more played out, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. The writing and character development was just fabulous. I'm looking forward to reading all her books now :)

Note: I was provided a copy of this book for review.

The story Rose has created is one that is very addictive, and it is one that is engaging and easy to read. There is a wonderful pace to the story and nothing is rushed, nor is it drawn out. There is depth to the characters and not everything about them is revealed immediately, with more information about who they are emerging as the story goes on. This gives a realistic feel to the novel where things are learnt about people gradually, not in a single moment and typically only as a friendship develops.

As a character Fiona can come across as arrogant, but she is more self assured and confident. She has a determination and stubbornness that can get her into trouble but she is also enjoying life and emits joy which makes her fun to read about. It was great to see her grow as the novel progressed, and it is clear towards the end that while she has not exactly changed who she is, she has learnt from her experiences and instead becomes more comfortable in herself and in her life. This calms her down a bit but does not remove the confidence she had before and she is certainly wiser in its use.

What I really liked about this story was that it wasn’t what I was expecting. The characters are different and detailed, with complications of their own and personalities that both clash and work well with others. I also loved the story. Rose could easily have gone a different way with this but instead it has a complexity and depth that makes it unique while still being light and fun to read, and with characters that are so different from one another and that have such depth themselves, it only works to its advantage.

In particular I really liked the relationship between Fiona and James, even at the very start. Together they work well but it is their own personalities and histories that make them great, James especially. His past and secretive nature makes him protective of himself, and there is a charming but tough when necessary side to him that makes him admirable and likeable. Compared to Fiona’s outgoing nature they balance each other well, influencing one another and bringing out more in each of them.

I am glad this book was nothing like I expected, it became a lot more but without taking away the essence of what it is trying to be either. It is light and fun but also serious and meaningful meaning it has the ideal balance and creates a great reality for the characters and something believable for the readers as well. When you finish you can’t help but admire the characters and you certainly admire Rose for what she has created, and with the revelations of secrets and twists and the unexpected, there is never a moment of disinterest.

I received James Games as a prize in a giveaway by the author L.A. Rose. I am giving an honest review after reading this book.

Fiona: “I can fight my own battles.” James: “I know. But something about you makes me want to fight those battles for you”. (Yep, that made me like James a whole lot more!)

I don’t know quite where to start in describing this book! I found it sexy, flirty, sassy and fun, but there were also some serious situations that added depth to the story. I really like Fiona, the main character, who is currently enrolled in a university and trying to make up for “lost time” after living in the Amish community her whole life. She is naïve and unexperienced with some of the harshness of life, which you’ll soon learn, but she is a fighter, which is one of the things I loved about her. There are some scenes in the book that start to go down a dark path, but Karma is a bitch…Oh yes she is!

If you read the synopsis, you’ll know what the book is about. Fiona and James had an unconventional start to their relationship, but I liked how it didn’t end, but continued to grow, despite having to keep their relationship a secret from her sorority sisters. I do have to admit, that towards the end, I was getting disappointed on a situation that Fiona was accused of; it almost seemed rushed. I felt that there should have been more to that part of the story; however, what ended up happening helped redeem it some (but still felt a little rushed). But overall, it was a great book and a fast read. I love books that hold my attention to where I can’t put it down and this is one of those books.

I loved the personality that L.A. Rose created for Fiona. She’s tough, confident (a little too much at times), naïve, sassy, crazy, caring and one to not back down from a dare (hazing). She may come across as annoying to some with her overconfidence, but I found it pretty cute and funny (there’s just something about her). She may seem a little (or a lot) over the top, but it’s just her way of experiencing the new freedom that she was given. I especially enjoyed her inner thoughts (and what she just blurts out) when her roommates/friends/enemies say things to her. There are so many quotes that I would love to post that made me laugh and those that made me go “awwww”, but I don’t want to quote over half the book ;-)

She and James really balance each other out. He’s more grounded while she is over the top. Fiona slowly chips away at the wall that James has built around himself due to his past (which I didn’t see coming). I loved “watching” their relationship grow and how protective he is over her.

The book was written in first person POV of Fiona.

Thank you L.A. Rose for this book!

“Do you hear that? That is the sound of my death. If she finds out I slept with you, I am fucked. And not the good kind of fucked.”

This was a fast and fun read with a unique plot! I had previously read Adrian Lessons by LA Rose and knew I was in for a sexy and hilarious story. LA Rose is just one of those authors you wish everyone would discover. She knows just how to mix humor, sexiness and romance into a captivating book!

'

Fiona is in college and wants to let loose. After growing up about as sheltered as you can imagine she is finally out and free and living life to the fullest. This means dressing provocatively, going out a lot, pledging a sorority and becoming somewhat promiscuous! This is all working in her favor until the last guy she had anonymous sex with is the one guy she isn’t supposed to touch while pledging. James Reid is a former TV star and now a student at the same college that Fiona goes to. Part of the pledge process is to compete in a set of games in which the winner gets a date with James. What is the catch . . . no contact until the games are over. UH OH! Somehow while trying to avoid James she seems to constantly be doing the opposite! They are clearly attracted to each other but Fiona needs to decide what is more
important, how she feels about James or finally belonging to a popular group.

“My nipples are fabulous and everyone should see them.”

While the premise of this book is slightly kitschy and silly that too is it’s appeal. I personally don’t read fiction books because they are like real life, I read them because they are an escape from real life! While being a little silly this book still had plenty of depth and feeling and I honestly loved every moment of it!

“Now, imagine what I could have don’t with two hands.”

James is super sexy and Fiona is a force to be reckoned with! I loved them both and together, WOW! They were so sexy and intense! AMAZING! At times James seems like he isn’t the best of guys but that’s okay because at times Fiona seems like she is kind of self centered but clearly they both need each other to find peace within themselves. I love that they seem to make each other better people!

“I am starting to suspect I mean something to him, and I hate how unspoken it is. I want things blunt and clear and outspoken, always. I drown in murky waters.”

I am definitely a LA Rose fan now and cannot wait for her to release more books! Good wit is harder than good sex and in both James Games and Adrians Lessons she has excelled at both!

4.5 Stars…or an A grade since this is college ;-)

“Excellent weather we’re having, isn’t it? Perfect for nudity.”

Why in the world is this girl Fiona Arlett naked and jumping out a window? That’s the first thing you have to wonder as the story opens, and the first impression you get of Fiona.

Fearless…daring…in your face. Fiona is living it up during her first year at UCSD. She’s pledging a sorority; enjoying the college scene; and indulging her sexual appetite. Fionna might come off promiscuous at first, but her upbringing just makes it feel like…well Rumspringa. Her background is definitely a unique twist.

And there’s quite a few refreshing elements to this story. For one, Fiona has quite a healthy sense of self-esteem. She doesn’t fret about her body image or worry she’s isn’t good enough for a celebrity or the elite upper-classman she associates with. In fact, Fiona says what she thinks and isn’t intimated easily.

And then there’s James Reid. Turn book back to the front cover and smile. I don’t know where author L.A. Rose finds her cover men, (see cover of her first book, Adrian Lesson and you’ll see what I mean there too) but they make a great mental image when picturing the lead man. James is a former child star, now a senior at UCSD, and the prize in a yearly contest held by Phi Delta Chi. Hence, the title of the book.

There’s parties; there’s pranks; there’s drama without any over-done angst. This book is a lot of fun with witty 1st person narration from Fiona and an overall feel-good aura. It’s also a coming of age story so some events cloud fearless Fiona’s perspective for a brief while, but that’s part of the growth and development within the characters, and both Fiona and James grow throughout the story. It is also a great lesson in looking past public personas and getting to know the real person underneath.

Sorority pledging was the furthest thing from my own college scene, but that didn’t stop me from thoroughly enjoying the story. And I liked the way James and Fiona’s relationship was a blend of friendship and lust, fitting for their “new adult” age. Their “forbidden” sneaky escapades were a lot of fun, and James’s big announcement towards the end was one of my favorite scenes.

Is Fiona’s reputation on the line? Will she escape Sigrid’s wrath or is she headed for a life of solitude in the desert with a shaved head? What drove James from all his fan girls’ TV screens? And is he letting something from his Hollywood past keep him isolated?

If you want a cute, romantic story to lighten your day, James Games, is a winning read.

It's not often I can say this, but I devoured every single part of JAMES GAMES in one sitting from the hilarious beginning, right down to the very last full-stop.
I can honestly say that I have never laughed so hard whilst reading another book, as I did from reading this one...I was well and truly hooked!

Fiona Artlett is living life to the max, and living every single minute of it.
Being Amish...growing up was hard for Fiona. Deciding to leave the community, rather than choosing to be baptised into the Amish church. Fiona finds herself living with her strict aunt Caroline at the age of 16. But, once starting university, and after living her life so far in the confines of a strict community, Fiona starts to well and truly lets her hair down discovering loooots of boys along the way.

One night of hot wall breaking sex at a concert with a mysterious masked stranger, becomes a bit of an issue for Fiona once she realises that Mr Mystery Bang, was no other than former child actor (now fellow uni goer) James Reid. The problem being that in order to pledge into Phi Delta Chi, participating in the annual 'James Games' prohibits the pledges from any interaction with the man himself.
Stick to the rules, and the lucky winner wins a date with The former star himself.
Banging James beforehand is an absolute no-no...unfortunately for Fiona, she's already been there, and keeping this massive revelation a secret becomes a task in it's self.

But, trying not to win, may just end up putting you in the lead regardless!

I absolutely fell in love with this story. Yes, there were a few mistakes here and there, but who the heck cares when the story is as gripping and hilarious as this one?!
JAMES GAMES was extremely well written, and L.A. Rose manages to suck you right in and keep you gripped all of the way through.
The characters were amazing, as were the secondary ones too. But, it was Fiona and her whitty one-liners and over confidence which made me fall for her character. She is strong, hilarious, and extremely comfortable in her own skin, and despite all of the 'hazing' she is punished with, she still takes it on the chin and remains true to herself by not becoming someone other than who she is. Not what others want her to become.

Fiona and James' journey in this story will have you crying with laughter, and most importantly, begging for more from the fabulous author herself! I can't wait for L.A's next release, and can definitely now call myself a massive fan!

5 MASSIVE STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️PLUS A WHILE LOAD MORE :)

Where has Author L.A. Rose been for all of my reading life?? James Games was absolutely positively hands down one of the funniest books of ever.

Ever.

I'm totally serious. I think I laughed my way through this whole novel.

It was also supremely sweet and all kinds of fantastic wonderful. And totally smexy, can't forget the smexy.

I really loved this book, which is really nice because lately I feel as if I've been in an awful book funk. Thankfully I'm thinking that James Games snapped me right on out of it.

Right from the start the heroine, Fiona, pulled me in and didn't let me go for a second. She is one of the most fantastically awesome heroines that I've read in a seriously long time. Her inner dialogue, her personality, who she is...she's perfect. Strong, balls-to-the-wall, bursting with an irresistible personality, and hilarious wit. She's completely amazing. I totally have a girl crush on this girl.

Fiona used to be Amish, after choosing to leave that life, she's finally in college, and she's letting her fun-loving, freak flag fly...high. She's having sex, having fun, and not apologizing for any of it. Self confident, and out to enjoy life in it's entirety.

When she finds out that the sorority she's trying to join has a competition called the James Games - the prize, an extremely hot, seemingly untouchable, ex-actor. She also finds out the biggest rule - don't touch James.

The catch...she already has.

As James Reid, the deliciously ice-cold (or is he?), slightly tortured, campus celebrity, and Fiona, the girl with a crazy reputation, try to stay away from each other, a friendship is born. And the chemistry and hilarity of each situation these two find themselves in is off the charts awesome.

With the hazing from a particularly powerful sorority sister ratcheting up, and Fiona trying desperately to keep her relationship and her encounters with James a secret, it all combines to be an absolutely awesome, refreshingly funny, novel. My only complaint, and the reason I'm giving James Games 4 stars, instead of 5, is that I thought the ending was way to rushed. I didn't mind how it ended, but I felt it should have taken a bit more time to get there. With that being said, I now have a new automatic buy Author, and I can't recommend James Games enough.

It really is pretty awesome. And hilarious. Can't forget the hilarity. And the smexy. And the awesomeness. Go meet Fiona, you'll love her, and wait until you meet James, he's...de-lish.

In ‘James Games’ we meet Fiona. Fiona is just starting her college life and she has decided to life it to the fullest. She goes out to almost every party, drinks, has sex with random guys and she joins a sorority. One wild night she meets a mysterious stranger and they spend an amazing night together. But the next day Fiona finds out that this stranger is none other than James Reid. James is a famous Hollywood actor trying to stay out of the spotlights, and unfortunately for Fiona, James is the one guy her sorority forbids to date. But that doesn’t really matter because Fiona isn’t really into the arrogant handsome sexy actor. At least that’s what she tells herself. But soon Fiona find out that James isn’t the guy everyone thinks he is.

In the beginning of ‘James Games’ I was a little afraid I wasn’t going to like this story. Fiona seemed like this shallow, arrogant, crazy girl and I just didn’t like her very much. Fortunately that changed a little further into the book when I learned that Fiona just wanted to celebrate her freedom. She wasn’t shallow at all. She just wanted to have fun. And soon I really started to enjoy this story. Especially when I learned more about James. I loved the friendship between Fiona and James. They really cared for each other and I loved how passionate they were.

Although I didn’t like Fiona in the beginning of this book she is still my favorite character in this story. When you look further into her character you’ll see this strong and lively girl and she was also really damn funny. I loved how she responded to the hazing she was forced to go through. What I also really enjoyed where Fiona’s trips to the school nurse. They were just hilarious.

Although this book was very funny and also very romantic I also loved the message this book sends. Even though you think you know everything about someone because of what you hear from other people, you really should talk to someone yourself before you take conclusions.
This was definitely another great book by L.A. Rose. I loved it and would definitely recommend it to other romance novel lovers.

Growing up in an Amish community, Fiona is ready to enjoy all things college has to offer. She wants to party, she wants to sleep with as many men as possible, and she doesn't want a relationship. So imagine her surprise when she goes to a concert with her roommate Iris only to find a masked man that will rock her entire world. Their attraction is instant, their passion for one another unlike any other and she can't stop thinking about the man that rocked her world. Too bad he wouldn't remove his mask or tell her his name.

Determined to move on with her life and make the most of college, she gets accepted into Phi Delta Chi along with Iris and another girl that quickly becomes her friend Mags. The sorority has a competition every year called the James Games. What does the winner receive? A date with James Reid. The rules are simple, win contests and under no circumstances are you to touch James.

One problem... she has no clue who James Reid, the former actor is or that she's already touched him. That is until Iris shows her a photo and she comes face to face with her masked stranger. Worse than that, he rocks her world again within a week. She determined not to win the James Games but the more time she spends around James, the harder it is to stay away from him. Can she lose the James Games like she's determined to or will she lose something greater than the games?

I. Absolutely. Loved. This. Book. It was so refreshing to read something different. Fiona was witty, charming, and absolutely lovable. She'll do whatever it takes to NOT win the games. Like showing up at the party naked, I didn't think she was going to go through with it but she did and she did it with style. I loved every single second of this book and can't wait to read Adrian's Lesson and future books by this author. I highly recommend this book and give it five stars.

After reading this author's previous book, Adrian Lessons, which I absolutely loved-I was really looking forward to James Games. I'm still a bit on the fence about this one. It didn't flow quite as well, and there were some points that made it a bit too edgy.

There were plenty of funny spots. One of my favorite lines was "You are a strong, beautiful, independent woman and the fact that you're dressed as a big chicken does not detract from your sex appeal even one bit." Yup, this author does have a way with the funny stuff. And the idea of the story fits well in the college/NA category. I also did like most of the characters. James in particular was my favorite-generally quiet, sexy, and protective while of course having a secret in his past.

I wasn't too fond of the lead female character, Fiona. I found her to be over the top, behaving in an outlandish manner that is just too excessive...and she sure seems full of herself. I realize with her prior background she finds college as the time she can turn into a completely opposite person from the way she had been brought up, but she just seemed a bit TOO much. Thankfully as the story progressed this leveled out a bit, and James definitely helped smooth out a lot of Fiona's rough edges. And I totally agreed with Fiona's viewpoint on the Games, so I was at least able to find some common ground with her.

James' character truly made the whole book for me. He was the perfect flawed but sincerely regretful counterpart to Fiona's craziness. He made the entire book worth reading for me :-)

Overall, I would give this a 3.5 star rating. James' character had a LOT to do with the positive portion of that rating. Fiona's unconventional and slightly grating personality did the opposite for me. But it is a good read, and definitely for the 18+ crowd.

Fiona in her early childhood was in chain of her family and tradition, in high school she was with her strict aunt and now is free at college. Her freedom she understands as going with random boys, have sex without connectivity and obligations. Fiona is pretty good in this free and wild stuff, before she meets some strange young man under mask. Who is he? Why she feels such a strange feelings when she remembers that night with him?
Fiona lives in dorm with her best friend Iris. Both of them want to be members of Phi Delta Chi, the most popular sorority in their college. Every year this sorority holds a competition and the prize is one night with popular actor James Reid. He is senior and wet dream to every girl in the college. Only Fiona doesn’t knows who he is and how he looks like.
This book is on my favorite list already, cause makes me laugh, makes me dream and wonder.
Fiona is my favorite character number one, because she is so brave, strong female character. I especially like her wildness and independence, and how she deals as young woman in this cruel “man’s” world , after her I think this is the woman’s world or maybe no one at particular but both woman’s and man’s.
Iris is Fiona’s conscience, sarcastic and very funny girl. Meg, other Fiona’s best friend is totally as Charlotte York from Sex and the City.
James Reid is cold, sexy and unbelievably good looking man. He will show some other side of his personality kindness and carefulness and love.
I highly recommended this book for everyone who loves romantic comedies with strong female characters.

OK the storyline was a little childish - but totally worth it
Fiona really made the story worth reading

Fiona lived a really sheltered life - and that's putting it mildly - but once she was out on her own in college, she was ready to live life to the fullest - Her personality was hilarious - she jumped in head first with everything

Getting into the Alpha Pi Sorority was a big thing - but she didn't realize how big it was until she was in.

The James Games - James is a famous child actor who grew up. Many girls lusted after him with crazy obsessions. But James wasn't the type of guy to care about all that. He kept to himself and didn't want anything to do with anyone. But he had agreed to the James Games.

The Sorority sisters had many challenges in order to gain points to win a date with James. The only rule of the game was, No one is allowed to touch James...

Well that was rule was out of the book before the whole game started when she met up with the masked stranger for a quick wall bashing hot fling - it wasn't until after the Games were announced that her roommate showed her the picture and she put the two guys together... oops.

Being the Sorority class clown in a sense, Fiona didn't get off on the right foot with the seniors - and the one senior that had it in for her right from the start.

But Fiona made the best of the bad situations that were thrown at her. And with James popping up at each of the parties, they had a hard time keeping their hands to themselves.

Really a fun Laughing out Loud story that has you smiling the whole way though :)

I was so excited when I read that LA Rose had another book releasing and James Games did not disappoint!

Fiona has come from a very strict background and has let loose a little in college. She is pledging at a sorority that has an annual “James Games” competition. The “James Games” are where one lucky sorority sister will have to complete in a variety of games and win points and the sister with the most points will win a date with James Reid, former child actor turned student.

The only problem is that Fiona has already slept with James…multiple times. In fact, they are unable to keep their hands off each other which result in smokin’ hot scenes and hilarious encounters.

However, one of her sorority sisters has her heart set on James and makes her life a living hell when she hears about their flirting. She will do anything to stop Fiona from attracting James’ attention with disastrous consequences.

James Games is another fantastic read from LA Rose with an ultra-protective sex god alpha hero and a no filter, loose as can be hilarious heroine.

LA Rose will always be an auto-buy author for me, perhaps it is the hilarity in her books or the light and refreshing banter between characters. Or the way her characters are very realistic and you find yourself in their shoes more than once. Or the hot and steamy sex scenes that leave you panting and wanting more. Whatever it is, I urge you to read one of her books…you will love them!

James Games by L A Rose

You will need tissues lots of tissues and tenna ladies. This book is hilariously funny but heart gripping.

Fiona Artlett wants to be a sorority girl, her and her room mate Iris join phi delta chi sorority.
Every year the sorority holds a competition.

The prize James Reid. The famous child actor who now attends UCSD.

The only rule to this competition no touching or speaking to the prize.

Will this be a problem for Fiona? Will it be a problem for the prize James Reid?
What is the story with these two.

I absolutely love Fiona she is so down to earth, hilariously funny, quick witted and so likable. There is absolutely no annoyingness about her. Her friendship with Iris is amazing the banter between them is so life like.

James, well you will love him. Hands down he is adorable

I started this book and finished it within a couple of hours I just could not put it down. From start to finish you just have to keep turning them pages.

This is the second book I have read by Author L A Rose, she can write some comical scenes, I'm so looking forward to what her next book will be.
