Kyle is settled within the career he is at the moment, after leaving his small town to join the Police Academy to make a life for himself, but leaving was not just about getting away from the small town but leaving the love of his life as well was the hardest thing he had ever done.

One night all his worlds collide when his past meets his present, but this encounter may affect his future, he will have to see what happens.

Alara Demir is a B rated actor but when she lands a big role in a streaming network her world is turned upside down. Having commitments within the city for the promotion of her role, he team are worried that she has a stalker who will not take no for an answer, she is not sure what is happening but when she walks into the office of the company that she is entrusting with her life, a blast from the past comes in a floors her completely.

Can the feelings they both have for each other create a second chance or will Kyle be able to put on his professional hat and stop the Stalker from hurting Ali/Alara?

This is a great quick read with lots of angst and what ifs which is great to read and be a part of. Kyle's character is a shut off bodyguard but as the story goes on and you see the interactions between Ali and him it opens up another side to him which is vulnerable and lost. At first I was a little irritated by Alara with her carefree attitude and not really listening to Kyle's advice but as the story goes on and they start to remember the goods times together you see the true attraction between the two of them.

The writing is brilliant and is well written, there are twists that I feel enhance the story and drives you to keep reading the story to get the conclusion at the end. This is the first book I have read by this author and definitely won't be my last.

One Weekend in Manhattan is the third book in the One Weekend series by Christi Barth. This isn’t my first read from Ms. Barth- but it is one of my favourites. And again, I seem to have come into the series a little backwards, woops- somehow diving in on Book #3 --- which is something I do quite regularly it seems, lol. But, having said that, this is a series of standalones, as each instalment focuses on a different couple, so I never felt as though I was missing anything by not having read the other instalments first. Although now my curiosity has been piqued, and having enjoyed this book, I will definitely be grabbing a copy of the other two books to read as well.
This is a second chance contemporary romance with some romantic suspense elements, tension, chemistry, high stakes, emotion, banter, mystery, stalker danger, a star on the rise, a hunky bodyguard, plenty of intriguing developments, and what is supposed to be one long weekend, that changes everything.
Alara and Kyle have a bit of a painful history, but they have never forgotten the other. They are thrust together when Alara attracts the attention of a stalker and needs a bodyguard to keep her safe. She’s a star on the rise, and he’s the best bodyguard in the business- but will their past get in the way of their professional relationship? With their simmering chemistry, the sparks begin to ignite quite quickly- adding an extra complication to their situations.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Christi Barth!

This is the 3rd book in the One Weekend Series. It is a second chance romance suspense which has past broken hearts, a chance meeting again, a dangerous stalker and chemistry that sparks off the page. I really enjoyed this story. The authors writing is captivating and the characters were really well written and believable. I felt so invested in their story I couldn't put it down.

Kyle Lambert had his heart broken in the past and while he never forgot her he also never expected to see her again. Fast forward 10 years and their paths cross again when she needs someone to protect her from a dangerous stalker and as the best bodyguard in Manhattan he knows he can do the job. But what happens when their past chemistry starts to spark again?

Alara Demir has struggled so far, trying to make it onto the big time. Now finally she can see it in front of her. However as she has risen up she has also caught the eye of a stalker. After hiring a bodyguard she realises she has put herself in a very dangerous position. If Kyle isn't as good as they say she risks being at the mercy of a stalker, however she also risks losing her focus and her heart again but having to spend the weekend with Kyle.
Will she be able to keep her focus on the career she has worked so hard for or will Kyle become to much of a distraction to that could not only put her hardwork in danger but also her life.

I loved this story and I will definately be going to read the previous books in the series.

One Weekend in Manhattan is a short, sweet, and spicy second-chance romance!

Kyle knew something was up when he was called into the office for a new case. However, he didn’t know that his ex would be the woman he would be protecting. Alara was in for a surprise, too, when she realized Kyle would be the bodyguard protecting her from a stalker during her weekend trip to Manhattan. They haven’t seen each other in ten years, but it seems like it was yesterday since their painful breakup. They each may have changed during that time, but their feelings for each other certainly haven’t.

It was amazing how much the author was able to pack into 99 pages. She got everything right. The pacing was perfect for a book this size. She gave readers a glimpse into Ali and Kyle’s relationship in high school without bogging down the storyline. She also shed light on the dark side and some of the pettiness of Hollywood. Ali was the exception to that rule. She was likable and someone I would have wanted to be friends with. Kyle was also extremely likable. He was definitely an alpha, but not too extreme. The addition of the suspense of the stalker was a good addition to the story as well.

If you're looking for a quick read with intrigue, sweetness, and spice, check this one out!

One Weekend in Manhattan brings two people back into each other’s lives that aren’t sure they should be there. The author put together this 2nd chance romance to flirt with the audience. Make the reader come digging in for more. I know I’m curious about other books that have been written after finishing this one.
Kyle and Alara(Ali) were high school sweethearts, stuck in a dead end town. That is till Kyle found his way out. Unfortunately at 18 and not having the maturity to bring it to Ali, he broke up with her and left town without her. Now karma is repaying the favor because she’s now his client. She’s a rising star that the director of the new movie she’s going to be wants to get exposure to. Just one problem, she has a stalker. So exposure in those situations is dangerous.
It’s been a long time but the feelings are there for both of them as if they never left. Which could impede Kyle from doing his job correctly. When one is emotionally involved they can miss a signal or queue. Will Kyle keep Ali safe? Will their unresolved feelings get in the way?
The book is only so long. It’s now your turn to crack into it to find out!

One Weekend in Manhattan is a fun, steamy, suspenseful romance as Alara and Kyle are unexpectedly reunited years after their breakup. Alara is receiving threats, and as her career as an actress is taking off with a major role, the security company that Kyle now works for has been hired to provide her protection for the short time she’ll be in Manhattan. Bodyguard duty to his ex, the woman that he never got over losing due to his choices, isn’t at the top of Kyle’s list for assignments. But no one is going to hurt Alara on his watch.

One Weekend in Manhattan by Christi Barth is an intense, steamy, second-chance romance that kept me engaged from start to finish. The ending fit perfectly, and while I had my suspicions, well, the delivery was very satisfying. If you love a well-written, engaging, suspenseful romance, then this one would be perfect for you.

Christi Barth is an author I haven't read before. But I was hopeful when I picked up One Weekend in Manhattan; she did not disappoint. This short, second-chance romance had it all: old lovers thrown back together, rising fame, a creepy stalker, and one long weekend. The world-building in this book is amazing; I could see and hear the hustle and bustle of the busy city, I could feel the shock and confusion of Kyle when he is given a last-minute bodyguard assignment, the girlfriend that he never truly got over, Alara, and felt the fear in Alara as her stalker gets closer. The characters are charmingly realistic, believable, and oh-so-lovable. Kyle's gruff demeanor, from years in the military and as an elite bodyguard, hides his softer side. While Alara's aloof attitude hides her fear of failing, but also the cost of her rising fame. Overall, this quick read was still packed full of mystery, suspense, romance, and plenty of emotion. I definitely look forward to reading more from Christi Barth.

Christi Barth’s One Weekend in Manhattan is a delightful escape into the world of second chances, where love rekindles with charm and ease. This lighthearted romance is the perfect companion for a cozy weekend read, offering flirty banter, engaging dialogue, and characters that feel both relatable and interesting.

Barth’s writing style is breezy and effortless, making it incredibly easy to get lost in the lively streets of Manhattan alongside the protagonists. The chemistry between the characters is palpable, their interactions filled with playful charm and heartfelt moments that tug at the heartstrings. The second chance romance trope is handled with care, adding depth without veering into overly dramatic territory.

What truly stands out are the characters—each crafted with unique quirks and personalities that bring vibrancy to the story. Their growth and the rekindling of their connection feel genuine, making it easy to root for their happily ever after.

Overall, One Weekend in Manhattan is a flirty, fun, and feel-good romance that’s easy to devour and leaves you with a smile.

This book is delicious! A short, emotional, and fast-paced second-chance romance that swept me away.
Kyle, a bodyguard for a high-profile security agency, is assigned to protect an up-and-coming star who's been receiving threatening letters. She’s only in NYC for three days. That star? Alara—Ali to Kyle—his first and only love. The one who got away. Or rather, the one he walked away from.
Their reunion is messy, complicated, and full of emotional tension. Baggage, banter, heartbreak, heat—it’s all here. Their love never died; it just got buried under regret, misunderstanding, and sharp words.
This story takes you through their past, their present, and hints at a future. Cozy, romantic, and so satisfying. A perfect read for anyone who loves second chances, bodyguard tropes, and messy, magnetic love.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

While this can be read as a stand-alone and is book 3 in the set I’d recommend you start from book for no other reason than you owe it to yourself ❣️📕loon you won’t feel lost or anything but you’ll like missed out , does that make sense 🤷‍♀️

Alara and Kyle have a history and used to date way back when and she left him nursing a broken but a few years have passed and life goes on or does it ?

Alara is making a come back into the acting world and she’s about to take on a big role but she’s managed to attract a stalker and Kyle is her assigned body guard and both are more concerned with their hearts then her safety 🤔 there quite a bit at stake career wise for borne of them can they compromise 🤷‍♀️

This was a quick and fast paced morning read that promised a second chance for 2 people that nearly missed the chance at a HEA but I was invested emotionally and they had me on my toes a few times and giving up my morning domestic godessing was so worth it ❣️📕😉

One Weekend In Manhattan: A Second Chance Bodyguard Romance by Christi Barth. While this is book three in the series and its very short, I still recommend reading them in order. I just get a better feel for all the characters if I read them in order. This is the second chance romance of Alara & Kyle. Alara left Kyle years ago and broke his heart so terribly he's never really gotten over it. Kyle has moved on or so he thought and has a career in criminal justice. He is now one of the most requested bodyguards around so when Alara, who is a actress, develops a stalker, Kyle is hired to be her bodyguard. After years of being a B actress this new role could make her career and she's not about to let some stalker take that away. Kyle's career is on the line as well because if he does well in this role he could be in for a big promotion. When feelings come back between the two will it cause them to lose everything or finally have the happiness they deserve?

An enjoyable and engaging contemporary romance which kept me hooked throughout. Kyle and Alara get a second chance at love when they meet up again ten years later. Alara was the girl-next-door who broke Kyle’s heart, but she’s now a star with a shot at the role of a lifetime. However, along with fame she also has a stalker and needs a bodyguard for a long weekend. As the best bodyguard in Manhattan Kyle’s not concerned that he can’t keep her safe, but he is worried about being heartbroken again. Alara has always been solely focused on her career but Kyle proves to be a big distraction, but she can’t risk not getting the part. The chemistry between Kyle and Alara came across in the narrative and I loved the banter between them. The storyline had plenty of drama and suspense along with the romance which kept me happily turning the pages. I was hoping Kyle and Alara would get their HEA together, No Spoilers, I recommend reading this book to find out!

One Weekend in Manhattan by Christi Barth is a sizzling second-chance romance that perfectly blends suspense, heartache, and undeniable chemistry. When top tier bodyguard Kyle Lambert is assigned to protect rising star Alara, the girl who broke his heart a decade ago, their reunion reignites old emotions neither of them have fully buried. As Alara balances the biggest break of her acting career with the looming threat of a stalker, Kyle must confront both his past and the growing realization that his feelings for her never faded. Barth crafts a fast-paced, emotionally charged story that explores forgiveness, ambition, and the risk of opening one’s heart again. With sharp dialogue, tender moments, and plenty of sparks, One Weekend in Manhattan is a compelling romance that proves some love stories are worth a second shot. The unexpected twists that Barth add are what will keep you reading and wanting more!

I recently picked up this book, and I’m so glad I did. I had only read one other book by this author before, but this one definitely hit different in the best way possible. We get to follow Kyle and Alara as they’re forced to spend a weekend together after her life is threatened by a stalker. I loved how their chemistry was intense and complicated. There’s so much emotional tension because of their shared past. The author does an amazing job of building that slow burn tension, making you root for these two, even though you know it’s not going to be easy for them. Kyle’s character is swoon-worthy, but it’s Alara who really stands out. She’s smart, driven, and not willing to compromise her career for anything, which makes her moments of vulnerability with Kyle even more powerful. This book balanced steamy romance with real emotional depth, and honestly, I didn’t want it to end. If you’re looking for a second-chance romance with a touch of suspense, this one’s a winner.

I enjoyed reading this romance story. This is an author that I enjoyed their writing style as well as their ability to pull me into the character’s world with ease. This is a well written story about coming face to face with the person who broke your heart. Alara and Kyle’s story is one of second chance romance added with some suspense. Alara broke Kyle’s heart and now they come face to face years later. She has a stalker and his job is to protect her. What happens between these two is something you don’t want to miss. They are great characters that kept the story engaging and easy to read. They are connectable and relatable with great chemistry and attraction. I enjoyed watching their growth throughout which made the story entertaining to read. I found this to be a fast paced, hard to put down story that is a great story. I highly recommend this book.

Alara is an actress who has been clawing her way to the top for a decade, at the cost of everything but her dream - including Kyle, her ex she has never forgiven or forgotten. As she has been trying to work her way into the circles of Hollywood, she gains a stalker along the way. When she has to travel to New York for a 3 day weekend, she needs a bodyguard from a top firm to keep her safe as she is away from home.

Kyle, the ex who still loves her, is the bodyguard. While he wants to see her, wants to hear her, wants to spend time with her...but is worried if he can keep tabs on her without being distracted. Or at risk of getting his heart broken by her again.

This book is a quick read that keeps you invested and it would be even if it weren't a novella. Tension, chemistry, suspense, mystery...and what ifs and maybes make up a great story with people to cheer for.

This story takes you to Kyle and Ali (Alara) who have a deep seated history together. Kyle takes a job opportunity with the police force right out of high school and leaves Ali in the process, which breaks her. Years later, he's well established at a Security Firm when he's given a new assignment guarding an up and coming actress who is beginning to gain popularity. Kyle doesn't realize it's Ali, who now goes by Alara. He's good at his job so he takes the assignment, thinking that it's only a weekend so he can do his job capably and without hashing any of their past in the process. What follows is a story full of intensity, chemistry, playful banter, and danger. This story has everything you could want in reading and it's a standalone so you don't have to read what's previous. A great, all-around, well-rounded read!!

Kyle had left his small hometown to join tbe police academy and make a life for himself. It wasn't an easy choice for him to do so as it meant leaving everything he knew behind. This included the love of his life, Alara. His past and present were about to collide. Alara has been chasing her dreams of becoming a big star and she is finally getting her big shot. She not only got a role in a streaming network but she has also gained a stalker. That comes with the price of fame doesn't it? When she walks into the building of the company her team has hired to keep her safe, she is met with a blast from the past. She is still hurt and heartbroken over Kyle leaving all those years ago. Will they be able to maintain a professional relationship so Kyle can keep her safe? Or will they give their romantic relationship a second chance?

One Weekend in Manhattan by Christi Barth is my first read of her One Weekend Series and I found it to be a quick, spicy novella with great characters in an intoxicating setting. With the tropes of second chance, first love, he/she broke my heart but we still have chemistry off the chart, the story unfolds as Alara and Kyle meet again after 15 years apart. Alara is an up-and-coming actress in need of a bodyguard and Kyle is a protection agent for the company hired by the movie company.

Christi has written an excellent, immediately engaging contemporary romance with enough drama, danger, angst and sizzle to make this a page turner! I always choose to read her books and I am adding the previous One Weekend books to my TBR immediately!

I received an advance reader copy and am leaving my voluntary review based solely on my reading experience.

One weekend in Manhattan was a quick easy read. It takes place over one weekend when Ali aka Alara is in NYC and she has been receiving threatening letters. It has been arranged to have someone from Fisk Security shadow her and be her bodyguard for the weekend she is visiting. When they come face to face, both are shocked to see the other person. Ali and Kyle were high school sweethearts with big plans until Kyle left to better himself for Ali. Neither has seen eachother since then nor have they forgotten or fallen out of love either.
Here they are spending 24 / 7 together while Ali’s in danger. There’s no one better to protect her than Kyle. Will they be able to see past the heartbreak all those years ago? I thought the book was well written. It was super quick.

Kyle is one of the best security guards in his business however he never thought his past would come back to haunt him in Manhattan. His ex girlfriend Alison has become somewhat of a star and is being threatened and they are taking this like they should. She is in Manhattan for a long weekend and guess who been assigned to be her protection for the weekend, none other than Kyle. However they have no clue until she shows up showing off her new famous name Alara. Walt, Kyle’s boss had no clue they knew each other until their first meeting when they were each told that Kyle would be posing as her boyfriend. Could things get any worse for either of them? Could love happen again for these two or were they tainted when they were younger?

One Weekend In Manhattan: A Second Chance Bodyguard Romance

When I saw it was a shorter book I fully expected the story to be choppy and lacking detail. I'm so glad I was wrong, the story was complete and kept me engaged on a day I was struggling to focus.

Kyle and Ali (now known as Alara) were high school sweethearts who hadn't seen each other since they broke up several years ago. Neither of them were expecting to see the other which caused some awkwardness.

As much as I love the love story, the stalking was my favorite part of this book. The stalking caused the heat to reignite between them.

The coming long weekend would be the perfect time to read this book and enjoy it.

This was a quick read, but it has everything you need. If you’re looking for an easy, quick, engaging romance, this might be for you.

Though it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. The main characters, Alara and Kyle, are developed well—as is their story—despite the short length of the book. Alara is an up and coming actress and has finally landed her role when her assigned bodyguard turns out to be her long ago ex-boyfriend—who she’d rather forget. Can they fight the chemistry and feelings that still exist between them? Can they forget the hurt of their past?

This has romance and all the second chance feels, but also a bit of suspense and action. I really enjoyed the storyline and the engaging writing style and it was an easy afternoon read.

Second Chance Love

The book by Christi Barth is part of a trilogy and each book can be read as a standalone. One weekend in Manhattan is a quick and sweet read. Alara and Kyle were high school sweethearts. Kyle left after graduation to join the police force then later joined a private body guard company. Ten years later Kyle is asked to be a bodyguard for one weekend in Manhattan. He was surprised when it turned out the actress he was to guard was his former girlfriend. Someone is stalking Alara keeps getting messages from a person threatening her. Kyle had his work cut out. I was totally surprised by the identity of the stalker! I think Kyle and Alara were surprised too. The book can easily be read in one sitting. I want to read the other 2 books in the trilogy.

One Weekend in Manhattan is a charming, feel-good romance that swept me off my feet. Set against the vibrant backdrop of New York City, the story unfolds over a single, emotionally charged weekend—every moment crackles with possibility and honest connection. Barth's characters are genuine and relatable, and the way they navigate chance encounters, heartfelt conversations, and the unpredictability of love over such a short time is both enchanting and heartwarming. This sweet, quick-paced read celebrates the magic that can happen when you open your heart in just one unforgettable weekend in Manhattan!

I loved reading this little novella. Kyle's and Alara's story was quick, but well paced. A lot of suspense, and back and forth between the two. Kyle misses his ex and she is constantly on his mind Alara has become an actress but along with it a stalker. She is uneasy about her trip to New York, but she hires a bodyguard from the top security firm. The problem? The bodyguard assigned to her is her ex. She still hasn't forgiven him over their break-up, and he implores her to listen so they can fix things between them. Will they be able to fix things before Alara's stalker finds her? Read to find out, you will not be disappointed!

Kyle is a bodyguard for Fisk Security. He felt he needed to leave his small hometown after high school and joined the police force in Manhattan. He also left Ali behind believing it would be better for her. A decade later he is assigned to protect her as she is beginning her acting career and receiving threats. He is posing as her boyfriend for the weekend as she attends functions and becomes known as an upcoming actress. I enjoyed Kyle and Ali's relationship as they get to know each other again. The threats on her life added a lot to the story. Great love story, characters, and events.

Okay, this rom com is so sweet. I could talk about calories or blood sugar, but that would just be icky. This book is the kind of sweet that just makes you smile and ooh and aah. It is not great literature and there are a couple big leaps with no explanation for the intervening time and place, but it is great escapism reading. The writing is good, the characters are well developed and behave consistently. I really enjoyed this light and fluffy read as a break from all the grim and yucky in real life right now.

This is a charming second chance romantic suspense story of two people, who share a painful past, meeting again after a decade apart. When a stalker targets Alara, Kyle is tasked with protecting her for one long weekend. The tension and a dangerous threat force them into a close proximity where they are forced to confront their lingering feelings. I loved the chemistry and witty banter between Kyle and Alara. Their push-and-pull dynamic, combined with the high stakes of Alara's safety, keeps you engaged and the twist at the end will shock you. This was fun fast paced story that leaves you rooting for the couple to overcome their past and find their way back to each other.
