New and Exciting series from award-winning author, MaryLu Tyndall!.Batten your hatches … the Queen of the High Seas is back with a tempest-tossed adventure that will shiver your timbers! Whenever I pick up a novel by MaryLu Tyndall, I actually get a tingle of excitement because I know I’m in for pulse-pounding romance that no author can match, and in The Summons, Ms. Tyndall takes it to a whole new level.Julie Lessman, award-winning author of The Daughters of Boston, Winds of Change, Isle of Hope, and The Cousins O’Connor series

Emeline Hyde is the runt of the litter. Especially in comparison to her incredibly talented and comely siblings and heroic parents. She longs for a hero like her father to come and sweep her off her feet and give her the romantic adventure her parents had. She longs to find her place in life, her God-given purpose. But instead she finds herself taken from the only security she’s ever known by a man who is as far from a hero as night is from day.

Captain Blake Keene has one goal in life—to rule over his own kingdom. It is the only way to avoid the bruises of betrayal and abuse he’s suffered for so long. Hence, when he hears about the Ring of Solomon from an old Jewish pirate and tracks it down, he plans on using it to gain the power and wealth he craves.
The Jesuits, on command of the Pope, are after the infamous Ring. In an effort to distract them, Blake slips it into a missionary woman’s pocket, only to put her in danger when the Jesuits discover his ruse. Now, he has no choice but to steal her away.

The Ring is more powerful than he expected. The woman not at all like he expected. With Jesuits on the chase and demons haunting him, Blake soon discovers that Emeline holds a power that far surpasses any relic from the past.

Swashbuckling adventure, heart-pounding romance, and a thread of hope that shines through every storm—this book had me hooked from the first cannon blast. A cinematic tale of redemption and love on the high seas, perfect for fans of inspirational fiction with grit and grace. The Summons needs to be a movie!

Marylu Tyndall has started a new swashbuckling series with The Summons! I have enjoyed her books for years, and this one did not disappoint. Sweet Emaline is kidnapped by a pirate named Blake, who unbeknownst to her, has the mystical ring of King Solomon, and Blake wants its powers. However, he isn't the only one who desires the power of the ring. With buccaneer's swords slashing and rugged pirates fighting, a romance buds. You'll recognize some of the characters from the author's blacklist of books. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to more in the series. *I was given a copy of this book by the author, and this is my honest opinion.

MaryLu Tyndall is BACK with another swashbuckling adventure in her classic style of adventure, swoony romance, and spiritual truth! Known for offering an Christian alternatives to vampires, the occult, etc. that focus on very real spiritual warfare, this story is exciting and packed with truth while sweeping the reader away to a time of pirates, ships, and treasure! I loved the redemption arc for hero Captain Blake Keene, and the determination of heroine Emeline Hyde! This story (like so many of MaryLu’s tales) gets an enthusiastic 5 stars from me, and I also cannot wait to see what happens next in the series!

The Summons
Legend of the King's Ring Book 1

Emeline Hyde has always wanted the thrilling type of life that would lead to a true romance like her parents. But when she finds herself kidnapped and involved in an actual adventure, she has no idea what is going on. Who is Captain Blake Keene? And what is so important about the Ring he wants so desperately?

MaryLu weaves an intriguing story wrought with mystery, adventure and strong emotions. She shows how God works to protect the people who let Him into their lives and learn to trust Him. There is a cast of colorful characters of all sorts. Ruthless, rough, grubby and money hungry pirates all out for what their hearts are set on. Never knowing who can be trusted or who can be believed? There are many surprises and dangerous evil around every corner.

Emeline’s parent’s, characters from one of MaryLu’s previous stories, help draw you into the adventure. You become more deeply involved in what is happening to Emeline. Will she be saved? What will be her final outcome?

I thoroughly enjoyed a new pursuit of adventure on the high seas of long ago. If you want to read something that takes you into another time and place full of excitement and intrigue, I highly recommend The Summons Legacy of the King’s Ring 1.

Author MaryLu Tyndall is on the top of my favorite authors list. Why? Her books are packed full of the Holy Spirit, and of course, you add some jolly good adventure, romance, and danger. It's alllllll good. I want to share with you my review of her newest book, The Summons, Savvy?
Yet another, blow me down, swash-buckling book from the very amazing gifted Marylu Tyndall. I would like to add the best page turner author name ever, just saying.
There are very good books out and about the world. Books that people read and after a few chapters, that said person puts down the book and walks away. It was good. But not that good. But The Summons is not just a good book, it is one of those books that will pull you right into the story. Marylu doesn't just write a story, she wants her readers to see and feel what she writes. Soo...
In the blink of an eye, I was standing in the Siren's Revenge Punch House. I heard the shouts, insults, and slurs of a house full of pirates. I caught a glimpse of Captain Blake Keen in the lamplight. Sigh...A troubled soul who longs for power, wealth at all costs. No one would stop him from winning The Ring...King Solomon's Ring. Some say this ring holds great power to whoever wears it on his or her finger. He must have it! But others are after it also.
Emeline Hyde, the granddaughter of the infamous pirate, Captain Edmund Merrick Hyde. I saw her long chestnut brown hair flowing about as she stepped onto the street as a horse was barreling toward her! But the handsome Pirate grabbed her by the waist and hoisted her out of danger. Phew! I saw her raise her gaze to meet his striking green eyes. Little did she know that he had hid the ring within the folds of her gown. Little did Emeline know that Blake was being chased by the evil Jesuits. Later that day, Captain Blake Keen hoisted Emeline Hyde over his shoulder, like a sack of flour. Kidnapped. She became a prisoner on his ship. But she was also a prisoner in her mind. She could not see the beautiful lady that God created...not plain, But beautiful.....not a mistake, But a blessing....not timid, But mighty, gifted by the Holy Spirit of God.
A love story, yes. I like a good pirate love story. But this is also a love story about a person in need of a Savior. Will this Pirate Captain Blake Keen release this quest for owning this powerful ring ? Will Emeline be reunited with her family? Oh, how she misses them, but ....
Throughout this book you will feel the Holy Spirit of the Living God. For without the Spirit of the Living God , this book would not have been written .

MaryLu Tyndall has done it again! THE SUMMONS, the first installment it what I am sure will be another epic pirate’s tale, was full of exciting adventures, seafaring battles, and romantic chemistry that will keep you turning page after page.

Emeline Hyde, the daughter of redeemed pirate, Alexander Merrick, dreams of one day having her own hero declare his love for her and whisk her away just like her father did for her mother. However, being kidnapped by pirate Captain Blake Keene is not what she had in mind.

Captain Blake Keene didn’t plan on kidnapping the damsel he saved from a runaway horse and wagon, but when she ends up with his priceless treasure-King Solomon’s ring-he has no choice.
Though he has every intention of releasing Emeline-especially once he realizes who her father is-he’s curious about this woman who is unlike any he has ever met. Though it’s obvious she is nothing like the wenches he is accustomed to, there is something more. Light. Emeline seems to bring light with her wherever she goes. And with the dark spirits he is battling on a nightly basis, he realizes he’s not ready to let her go.

Emeline challenges Blake at every turn. Blake in turn is frustrated by her insolent behavior and wants rid of Emeline but there is something about her that he can’t seem to shake. He wants to be her hero. He feels it in his soul. He wants to be a better man, because Emeline deserves the very best. He just doesn’t know if he can give up his life’s goal for a woman. Even a woman as incredible as Emeline Hyde.

In true MaryLu fashion these two characters spark like a fourth of July firework. A spark that smolders and grows to a full-fledged firestorm. Emeline is confused that she could have feelings for a man so contrary to what a hero is, and Blake is afraid to allow another woman to get a hold of his heart. As these two opposites find middle ground in spite of the contrary worlds they come from, their love is challenged by a foe willing to destroy them both.

I absolutely loved THE SUMMONS. MaryLu’s ability to create a world in which her readers can escape is amazing. Whenever I pick up one of her books, I know I have to be ready to set all other tasks aside because once I turn the first page, I will not stop until I’ve reached the satisfying ending. The only downside is that all good stories must come to an end. At least until the next installment is released.

How do I find the words to encompass this beautiful story? It’s raw and heartbreaking at times, but through it all is the powerful love of God in pursuit of the lost, the call to respond to Him.

A new series, Legend of the King’s Ring, sets sail with The Summons, and if you’ve read the Legacy of the King’s Pirates series, you’ll especially love meeting Emeline, daughter of the Pirate Earl!

From the first chapter, this novel jumps right into the fray! Rich storytelling swept me along into the early morning hours. It’s an action-packed, Christian pirate romance with all of the sizzling chemistry and none of the spice!

There’s a very interesting comparison between the main characters’ worldviews and how they see themselves. Emeline knows she’s a child of God, but the enemy has found a vulnerability to exploit. Oftentimes it is much easier to recognize the lie that’s deceiving others than to see the lie we ourselves are believing. Although Blake’s desire for power is on a grand-scale, we have to ask ourselves, are painful situations from the past still influencing us? Are we still fighting for control?

In some ways, these characters are similar. The past shouldn’t define us, and we all have the need to be loved. The heart of this story points to grace and truth, to Jesus.

CW:
- Violence
- Mature topics | Ch*ld ab*se | SA of a side character (past)
- Innuendo
- Language: Only mentions that characters curse. In some situations, though, certain words are used that could be offensive.

The Summons is spectacular! There are fierce battles and it doesn’t shy away from including the spiritual ones. Through powerful imagery, the cost of gaining the world but losing your soul is explored (see Matthew 16:26). It’s also a beautiful reminder that our Savior goes after one (see Luke 15:7) and that God tends to use what the world overlooks (see 1 Corinthians 1:27-29).

I loved it! There’s darkness, but hope and the light of God abounds in this book. I can’t wait for the next novel in this series!

If you're like me and you haven't read any books by MaryLu Tyndall in a while, then I will let you know, you're missing out just like I was! This story lived up to everything I remember of her previous stories that I've read.

Ending up with a ring that has untold power, Emeline Hyde becomes a pawn between Captain Blake Keene and others who know about it and want it! There's just so much to like about Emeline. While she's gentle in nature and wanting to live up to the rest of her family's reputation, she's no shrinking violet. Having grown up on ships and around pirates, she was no wilting flower which turns out to be extremely helpful in all of the dire circumstances she ends up in.

Captain Blake, for his part, doesn't mean to put Emeline in harms way nor does he intend to fall in love with her. He just needs the ring so that he can get all of the wealth he could imagine to rule a little piece of the world. If you like the swashbuckling kind of guy, Blake is your man! He certainly turns the heads of all of the ladies, and Emeline knows it.

They have to outwit the Jesuits and others who are after the ring, but in doing so, start to fall in love. Of course, it's not without many mishaps as one would imagine.

You better believe there's a strong thread of faith in this story! The ring represents evil in a variety of ways: relying on it/others instead of God, ignoring evil even when it's right in front of you, how darkness can change us and rule us. BUT God! Miracles happen when someone trusts Him! Placing our hope in God changes the course of our lives and we see the same in the characters of the story!

I'm so excited to be reading MaryLu's books again! I can't wait for book two, which I'm immediately diving into!

Another gem by Marylu Tyndall. If Ms Tyndall is anything, she is consistent. She has made it clear that she writes for the Lord and wants her books to be used to share the gospel.

That being said, the reader, if they have taken the time to read the Legacy of the Kings Pirates, will be transported back to that relative timeframe and circle of characters. If not, this book is standalone and begins its own series, but I believe reading this will make you want to go back and read the first series!

Thr story centers upon the mysterious Ring of Solomon, purported to hold supernatural powers which extend to the owner who can then wield said powers. Won in a card game, the Ring is in the possession of the main character, Captain Blake Keene. Hot on his heels in pursuit of the Ring, are the menacing Jesuits, who will stop at nothing to procure the Ring for the Pope!

Emilene, the heroine and also the granddaughter of Captain Merrick, gets caught in the melee of the pursuit of the ring and becomes the unwitting but providential victim in the fray.

We naturally see lots of action and the classic but always fulfilling battle between good and evil and all of its spiritual implications! A very satisfying character redemption arc is included and the author includes depictions of God moving in someone's life to draw them to Himself.

This book is so chock full of story elements that it is hard to include them all in this review. I hit on the highlights. Please read this fast paced, adventurous page-turner and then pass it on to your friends! They won't be disappointed.

WOW OH WOW!
I love this start to a new series of pirates and adventures by MaryLu Tyndall,
This author has a fantastic skill to weave her stories with just enough flair to make you believe you are right there in the midst of everything. I love her style of writing. All her stories flow with so much imagery and color. The dialogue between characters is smooth and moves the story along. Her stories are full of intrigue, action, suspense, adventure, magic, and romance. They also have incredible lessons of God’s love and care for us.
I love stories about pirates, sailing, and larger-than-life heroes!
This is one of those books that will capture you from the first page and not let you go until the very end!
I also appreciated how MaryLu Tyndall isn’t afraid to share the lessons God has laid on her heart through this story. I loved how the characters in this story battled their own self-doubts and how, when they turned those doubts over to God, He helped them overcome their issues. Isn’t this something we all desire help with?
When an author can evoke all the emotions and feelings that the characters experience, then that is a great author, and MaryLu Tyndall is one of those authors.
I’m still feeling like I’m in the land of pirates, high seas, and adventures!
Now I have to wait to see if there will be another book in this series!
I highly recommend that you pick up this book to read. You’ll be taken on a ride for your life, and you won’t want to come back!
I received this book from the publisher, which did not influence my review in any way; all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

O chestie iritanta este aducerea mereu in prim plan a religiei crestine si puterea Domnului.

I have read many of MaryLu’s books, and she hasn’t lost her touch! Each of her characters are vivid and enthralling, and she never shies away from sharing the gospel in a way that fits seamlessly within the story.

As with most of the stories by her that I have read, there is a lot of spiritual warfare. At times it can be a little far-fetched, almost in the realm/genre of fantasy. I do believe in the spiritual realm, but this story revolved around a demonic ring that had magical powers to control the weather - something I wouldn’t expect to exist in real life. If you prefer realistic historical fiction, this is something to note ahead of time. The story itself is REALLY good, so it didn’t bother me when I thought of it as Christian fantasy instead of historical fiction.

It was very inspiring to see how the spirit of God in Emeline kept away demons without her even knowing. I found that to be very fascinating and encouraging. Emeline was a super sweet and relatable character, a great role model for any Christian woman. Even though she felt like she lacked abilities, including in evangelism, she was actual really good at speaking the truth and sharing the gospel (which the reader could clearly see despite her doubting herself). Thank you, MaryLu, for another swash-buckling, adventurous romance story!

I am so thankful for a friend of mine that told me about this author. I wouldn't have normally read about pirates, but these books will have you captivated from the start all the way to the finish. Emeline is one of three children, who doesn't think she has the talents like her siblings do. One day she is out helping the people who are struggling when a pirate runs up to her, twirls her around and takes off again. The pirate, who is no other than Blake Keene, is running away from a group of dangerous men. He hides an artifact on Emeline, unknown to her, when the men discovers what happened they go after her. Blake thinks he has no other option except to kidnap Emeline. What will happen with a young missionary on a ship full of pirates with no manners, and a mischievous monkey all the while being chased by everyone who knows about the artifact? Throw in an old flame with her own agenda and you have one amazing hair raising, sword fighting ship-filled ride. During the book the author weaves into the story of good versus evil and where everyone's hope is. One of the sentences that stuck out to me is, "I speak of a relationship with God Himself. He forgives. He loves. He gives purpose and meaning to your life." I received a complimentary ARC copy of this book but was not required to leave a positive review. All opinions expressed are in my own words and thoughts of the book.

I have purchased and read all of MaryLu Tyndall’s books, my favorites being the Legacy of the King’s Pirates series. There are appearances from some favorite characters of these novels, plus the introduction of new ones to love, including a mischievous monkey.

The Summons continues in the pirate tradition and does not disappoint: sea battles, sword fights, pirate swashbuckling, good vs overwhelming evil, light vs darkness, triumph, redemption. I didn’t want to put the book down, and finished it in a couple of days (but then, I am retired with plenty of time to read).

Although Emmeline doesn’t think she has any spiritual gift or influence to offer the world, Blake discovers he only has peace when in her presence. Her light literally keeps the dark entities hounding him at bay. What could account for that? Like many of his crew, early abuse and heartbreak has trapped him in a web of false beliefs and values. Only when thrust face to face with the power that emanates from Emmeline will Blake realize there is a power greater than the one he searches for.

In signature style, MaryLu takes us on an adventure from the opening pages.

Shiver me timbers, mateys!! With a sweep of her magic quill the world's most popular pirate author has done it again! Get ready to take an exhilarating, seafaring voyage with malodorous, malevolent, money-grubbing pirates aboard Captain Blake Keene's vast ship, The Summons.

Unbeknownst to pure, sweet Emeline Hyde, a ring holding great wealth and power is hidden on her person . . . forcing her to be taken prisoner on The Summons. What ensues is a terrifying battle into the spirit realm—dark versus light, evil versus good.

My emotions were as erratic as the tumultuous sea waves and my insides quaked when the demonic spirits were doing their dirty deeds—however, as the author reminds us there is always victory and power o'er evil in the name of Jesus. Ms. Tyndall also compassionately addresses the consequences of verbal and physical child abuse and I could totally relate to a certain charming pirate and the inner battles he fought!

Add a swoony, enchanting romance and an ornery, naughty little monkey to lighten things up . . . and enjoy your adventurous sail on The Summons!

That said, I give MaryLu Tyndall five stars without hesitation.

Not since Kathleen Woodiwiss have we seen an author who so masterfully draws us into a world we might otherwise never explore. With vivid descriptions and richly developed characters, Tyndall's storytelling evokes a full range of emotions. The Summons is no exception.

Haven’t we all felt abandoned at some point? In this powerful tale, Emeline is kidnapped and taken far from home. Though she feels forgotten by God, He is working—protecting, guiding, and orchestrating events behind the scenes. Much like our own lives, we often don’t see God’s hand until the story unfolds. But He’s there, in every detail.

The pirate backdrop woven together with a faith-filled journey is a combination only Tyndall could deliver. I highly recommend this book—not only for its sweeping adventure, but for the spiritual encouragement it offers. It will entertain you for hours and leave you reminded that God never truly lets go.

I have come to love Tyndall’s books since I first picked up The Redemption. I fell in love with this world where pirates and sea adventures come to life. The Summons is no exception. Usually the story of how two souls combat life and find their way to each other draws me in, and while this book does have love and adventure the thing that drew me in was Emeline!

Emeline sees herself as less than her siblings. She sees herself as ordinary and feels like God has passed her over, not blessing her with any gifts or talents. This was the story that hooked me because I felt this way growing up. I hung to the moments where Emeline’s gifts and talents would peak through the insecurities and I reveled in her growth.

I so appreciate how Tyndall creates characters that relate to real life people. Her characters always point to Christ and how a personal relationship with Him is so important. I think the biggest compliment that I can give is that her books make me want to continue to further my own relationship with the Lord, and for a fiction book that is not a common find!

I highly recommend not only The Summons but the entire adventure of all The Kings Pirates!

A swashbuckling novel surrounding a ring that supposedly has evil powers that pirates, kings and even the pope attempt to obtain. Somehow, Emmeline, who comes from a royal, yet past privateer family, gets in the mix when she is used as an unknown hiding place. Kidnapped by pirate Blake, he wishes her no harm but only possession of the ring to control his seafaring destiny. Yet, they are constantly pursued as Emmeline depends on her faith to thwart evil intentions with a goal of returning to her family without falling for this compromised ship captain. Author's ability to use nautical terms of the era while incorporating an underlying Christian-based influence to maintain clarity is unique as well as appreciated for those who enjoy a clean action-packed adventure. Pure entertainment from cover-to-cover!

‘The Summons’ is the first in a new series by MaryLu Tyndall and, like all her other books, does not disappoint. On this high seas adventure book, I love the redemptive themes sewn throughout the story. That no matter one’s past or present struggles, God’s love and light is greater. In this age when the powers of darkness threaten to consume us, this book reminds us that God is still greater and more powerful. MaryLu brings it alive with the dashing hero Blake, the lovely heroine Emmeline, vivid portrayals of the Caribbean, a kidnapping, engaging repartees, enemies to lovers romance, masterful swordplay, and a colorful lot of pirates that you won’t want to miss out on.

The Summons is the first installment in the Legend of the King’s Ring series by MaryLu Tyndall. An incredibly gripping, swashbuckling story awaits the reader!

I fell in love with Emeline and Captain Blake upon first introduction. Throughout their journey, they reflect much about what goes on in our own hearts and minds, our insecurities and fears, our doubts and our faith. Joining them on such a fun, sea-faring adventure was a bonus! Masterfully weaving in tales of faith and how trust in God all the more, Ms. Tyndall yet again impresses with this powerful story that encourages the reader’s heart to connect to the Lord in a deeper way.

I highly recommend this book!

The Summons by MaryLu Tyndall

Return to the Caribbean and our favorite pirates with The Summons! I was so happy that the author wrote another book in this series! Another book with swashbuckling and a cute little monkey to boot! You won’t regret the time spent reading this book.

The struggles that the captain and Emeiline go through are so very real, and we all fight against the powers of this world whether we realize it or not. It was great to see an author touch on this subject.

I did receive an ARC of this book, but was under no obligation to post a positive review, nor did I receive monies or discounts.

A great continuation of the Hyde family from The Legacy of the King’s Pirates series! This book can be read separately from that series but I always find it enjoyable to get snippets of past characters!
MaryLu Tyndall creates an amazing story filled with beautiful imagery so immersive that those reading the book feel as if they are in the scene with the main characters. The story plot was captivating, with twists you’re sure to not see coming!
This book is a clean Christian romance. I would definitely recommend this book!

wonderful Adventure

From the first page the action and adventure continue non-stop through to the sigh-worthy finish. I reread the previous series , loving the sailing and pirate action. This new series continues the wholesome romantic legacy with an added mystical twist.
Excellent book!

This read was a bit out of my comfort zone. It was an intriguing storyline. I really felt for Emmaline, I also felt for Blake given his past and his demons but I struggled with liking him for much of the story. I really enjoyed the ending of the story. It was a lovely ending after the drama of the story. Off to read book 2!

Pirates, Adventure, Romance and Faith! This one book has it all and it has them in spades! MaryLu immerses the readers in the sights, sounds and smells of the Caribbean, so much that it feels like you're in a movie. And with the faith journeys of several of the characters, you know you're going to get a happily ever after. What could be better??

Marylu is one of my favorite authors!!! her books always take me away on an adventure! Her books are so nitty gritty and have such incredible love story that also wraps around God's love! I always love her touch for the supernatural and how it's always present in her books!!! so soo soooooo good!!!
