Insightful, Practical, Biblical Change on the Rise by Joshua Davis is an insightful book that speaks to men's souls providing a clear path to manhood. The author asks the question, “What does it mean to be a real man?” He then answers that real manhood is “about reflecting Christ.” The rest of the book then teaches the five phases of a man’s life. Those phases include: 1. Phase 1: Your Identity 2. Phase 2: Manhood 3. Phase 3: Love and Marriage 4. Phase 4: Fatherhood 5. Phase 5: Your Legacy
The author writes, “This is for every man who feels lost, stuck, or unsure of his place in the world.” I think that could be said about all men. So, this book has a universal appeal.
The book is well-written, practical, clear, and intelligent. It is filled with biblical references. There is so much truth here that it is hard to absorb it all in one reading. The author has an eloquent, conversational writing style while teaching life-changing insights.
Davis writes from the heart. His story about the death of his friend, Tim, is moving. Tim’s death served as motivation for the author to serve in ministry. This book came from that motivation. Each chapter ends with “ACTIVATION TIME” which is designed to help you reflect on what you have read in the chapter. There is also “YOU ACTION PLAN” to help you set goals and commit to action. Some chapters even have a “MID-CHAPTER ACTIVATION” where you can take a break and examine your heart.
While I was reading the book, I thought that chapter 3 on “Love and Marriage” was that book’s standout chapter. However, chapter 5 about “Your Legacy” is a peak among mountains.
This book a must-read for men. You will appreciate its straightforward approach and consider it worth the money. I highly recommend.
