A story of Dusty McCabe's early years, when he worked on the Cantrell Ranch in Arizona. Long before he learned that he was part of the McCabe legacy and began pursuing his destiny.
Brad was born in rural New England and grew up reading Louis L'Amour, Luke Short, A.B Guthrie, Jr., and even Edgar Rice Burroughs. He knew at 14 he wanted to write for a living, and refused to give up the goal even when the odds seemed overwhelmingly against it. Now, thanks to Amazon, his stories are now available. He is a member of the Western Writers of America
Brad fell in love with the Old West at a very young age. It began with movies and old TV series like GUNSMOKE and BONANZA, and later expanded to western novels. This led to his study of western history. The pioneers, the Indians, the cattlemen, the gunfighters. His interest in history is not so much about wars and great leaders, but the people who lived on the land. And that's what he writes about. The people. He doesn't write about the old west as much as he writes about what it might have felt like to be there.
He loves contact from readers. He can be reached by email at mccabewesterns@gmail.com if you want to discuss his stories, or even just the American West in general.
This was a very well written western with a healthy dose of romance blended in to round out the story. It's full of action, a kidnapping, strong character development and gunfights. It's about an orphan fighting to find his identity in the old New Mexico territory miles from civilization. I thoroughly enjoyed it, found it hard to put down and would strongly recommend it!
I hope the author comes up with more stories about this family! Like what happened in Joe's life after he moved to Canada! It's going to be hard to leave them behind!
I was hoping Atherton might have a come up and but I guess he and Mary went on their merry way. Funny this author writes backwards instead of forwards. If you read the books in order, we all know already of what happens to Dusty..
Dusty's story he comes to the Cantrell ranch where he takes a job and falls for the bossses daughter. Since I've read the entire McCabe series I knew that wouldn't work out.
Great book!! Nicely tying into the beginning. Made me start the series over again. Super story lines. This will be the third time! Like visiting old friends. Can’t you do a 17th? 😄
