The Book
The CEO’s Guide to Training, eLearning & Work is the definitive guide for senior leaders and learning professionals in the art and science of workplace learning and performance improvement. Will Thalheimer’s culminating masterwork shows senior leaders how to gain a competitive advantage through their organization’s learning and development efforts. At the same time, the book empowers learning professionals to confidently coalesce around foundational principles, values, and research-inspired best practices. In short, the book enables senior leaders and learning professionals to have a productive relationship focused on leverage points that matter.

The Author
Will Thalheimer draws on three decades at the forefront of the research-to-practice movement in the workplace learning field and on his experiences as a consultant to hundreds of organizations—including such giants as the Navy Seals, Oxfam, the World Bank, Bloomberg, the United Nations, the Gates Foundation, Genentech, Proctor & Gamble, the CDC, MIT, innovative elearning startups, and more.

The Book Design
Designed to be an easy read—many chapters are two pages long—Thalheimer augments his concise hard-hitting chapters with in-depth chapter notes for those who want to dig deeper, learn more, or review the research inspirations for the ideas shared.

Empowering Learning Teams
The CEO’s Guide to Training, eLearning & Work not only provides essential wisdom, but it also elevates a new goal for learning teams—creating a competitive advantage for their organizations and learners. With competitive advantage as a guiding purpose, learning professionals can reimagine and energize their practices, build stronger partnerships with senior leaders, and empower themselves to greater autonomy and full effectiveness.

Competitive Advantage
For too long, organizations have accepted modestly good results from their learning teams—and learning teams have acquiesced to outcomes beneath their own aspirations. With this book, Will Thalheimer makes clear that there is another way—and that way enables a competitive advantage.

Will Thalheimer's "CEO's guide to training, elearning & work" is a brilliant book for anyone interested in learning and development that really works, but doesn't want to read scientific papers. Thalheimer is an entertaining writer - a bit of a know-it-all but in a nice way. His book is very compact and a lot of detail is left to very extensive notes and references. That's obviously been done for the CEO-reader with little time, but is great for the most of us.
This book will remain near my desk as a reminder of many things he says.
